GIANT Green Fire Tornado

I've never been quite so happy about my job before it does look quite interesting listen this is a home I'm home in today's video we are going to see if we can scale up and change a previous project can we make a giant fire tornado and can we make it change colors [Music] guys before we start today's video we've got a very special guest with us the queen of random hi one of the things that grant truly loved with exploring and creating is the element it had to bring people together and one of the most powerful ways to bring things and people together are through purpose and these projects gave grant purpose they got him excited about life they got him into the creative possibilities of what can I do with this and what can I create and how can I bring people together and I want to share the special passion that Grant had for all of his projects that have all come together in this book 52 random weekend projects so another funny story I want to tell you about this one is the rubberband handgun was something grant actually learned as a teenager so when we were dating one of the things he did to impress me was he got a rubber band and he he was he's stretching it in front of me was like watch what I can do with this and he just put it behind his back like this like really nonchalantly slyly and then he put it back up and he had it wrapped all around his head and he shot it right at me hey my stomach didn't hurt he just laughed and I was like what did you just do so then he proceeded to show me how to wrap it around my hand which I still haven't figured out but he thought that was really funny and that's one of the things he did to impress me while we were dating I guess it worked because we ended up together starting today as an extra incentive to preorder those who experiments and both Nick and Nate have done fire tornadoes in the past I have it and guys I feel kind of left out tonight make up for that we're gonna combine our brain capacities and we're gonna just going to try this a really huge multi-colored fire tornado here's the basic idea we have over a dozen box fans and we have an area where we can film a giant fire tornado can we make this work and can we make it in different colors you've done some multicolor fire tornadoes have so it's really interesting we've done pink and green and then we mixed pink and green ironically when you mix pink and green it looks like fire so I honestly so my suggestion is we do really green really pink okay whatever combination mixing them just just weird all right but you know let's just try whatever it is first let's just see if we can get this going can we make a fire tornado in person we've got a bunch of fans they're all hooked up to electricity fuel of choice tonight is going to be methanol because it's so easy to make a really nice green color and so we're gonna start out with that and see if our fans are giving us any sort of tornado shape we're just going to move them around play around a bit until we're getting the shape we're looking for and then we'll try scaling up and try different colors and see what we can do yes so for our first test Nate just going to pour some methyl alcohol onto the ground we're gonna light it around the fans and see what happens [Music] yeah nice it's nice and warm alright turn well and that's it that's it right we are off to the races look at that look at that tornado alright I'm gonna see if like we can move yeah the center of the tornado just by bringing the fans into slightly different positions I think I'm ruining it we're also fighting a natural wind tonight I think it's about 5 miles an hour when it's picking up a lot better than last night we were gonna try yesterday but we had winds up to 20 miles an hour and that didn't seem like a great idea tonight's gonna work out a little bit better this is my child now yeah oh that's really good oh okay see the night just got so much better oh wow oh yeah look at that well I love this this is fantastic you all just add some boric acid to that remaining half gallon we can do that whole half gallon good you don't really need a lot actually even that will you get awfully plenty yeah well Ricky we keep reusing it if it doesn't dissolve lot it up [Music] all right so sick oh that's really good dude let's leave that let's shooting spurts like out to here I'm really great wow that looks so cool yeah yeah it's really good so while you can use different kinds of fuels as we've been saying before the methyl alcohol dissolves the boric acid really nicely but you don't need a ton just a little bit and a gallon and you're gonna have those bright green flames ease off why yes yes we are in fact pouring methyl alcohol and boric acid onto a large piece of flight test phone thanks for the phone flight test hey guys don't do this at home under any circumstances don't do this at home these three what just do it take a look at it how much foam did we know well it just started no wonder doesn't fly yeah that's the wing shape has completely destroyed itself at this point we have warped B yeah the flight edges it had one good green flight so this right here is a lithium battery it just has a strip of lithium in it we've done some experiments with this before and I've found that this little pipe cutter is the easiest way to open them up and lithium is for the pink color this right here is the lithium is what we're after stick around in there and there's also right in the methanol this wind is definitely picking up and I don't know if we're gonna get much tornado but oh well oh yes nice oh yeah that's a really good bro that is multicolored wacky wild fire tornado [Music] oh that's nice it honestly just looks like it's coming up towards me I'm calling it whoa there it's so good look at those colors that color the green and the pink like alternate leaf or pretty out of good Marines well yeah we're out of green at the moment oh there we go that way that was amazing I was great it works oh yeah it worked oh yeah that's really good whoo I'm so happy right now ha ha ha that's great I've come home that's actually coming out this far so I'm a good 6 feet away from it right now and the column is coming up but it's also curving towards me that's fantastic that's a really good one whoo that got far hi fire whoa that was really good oh we have so many melty fans thank happy
