Ghost Controls WIFI update 2022

[Music] ghost control's got a new product got a package from ghost controls [Music] came with the new board the receiver so let's put this together and we'll talk about it this will give you access from wi-fi from bluetooth uh you can open up the gate you can give people access easy you can change a lot of the parameters you can get smart home going if that's what you want to let's get this installed i'll give you a quick rundown you get this it's this thing so the box looks just like the same some of the electronicals are a little different this board here and it comes with this thing yeah there's a nomenclature for that i'll put that on there but uh i'm assuming this is either the wi-fi the bluetooth the wireless module for that other stuff uh we'll get this installed and see if we can get it programmed all right so here's my current setup the control box is there i got my solar panel up top and that charges the battery that's in there it opener is connected here so the box pretty much looks the same since i'm lazy and i've got all this other stuff here i'm just going to rip out the guts and rewire let's get this thing installed here's the new board power wires will just leave them dangling here all right next step's going to be mounting up this little box we're just going to have it here for now just for testing i did have to drill out a hole there was a spot for a hole but i just drilled it out push the grommet through and that just a cat 5 or ethernet of some kind of a plug like that clicks in here all right we'll leave this hanging later i'll put uh just put a screw whatever all right moment of truth and the fuse let me uh let's diffuse them take two moment of truth okay so the beeping's a little bit different that's interesting all right well let's see about teaching at a remote since this one it's picking up a signal but of course it isn't uh set up yet the nice thing about these guys on the back got some instructions press and hold to learn transmitter until alarm sounds in the yellow light [Music] stays on press and hold the desire remote button within 10 seconds [Music] and the alarm sounds or the gate is moving there we go must have just taken too long [Applause] [Applause] all right now that the remote is functional we need to set the stops if you don't set the stops this will just keep on going and in my case it bound up on the pole over there and then i had to uh pop the pin and do all kinds of swearing but uh anyways got that open so let's set the stops once again by the book [Music] perfect all right happy with that okay let's finalize the install and we'll talk [Music] okay that's official so that's actually pointing in the direction where my outside or external exterior wi-fi antenna is don't crucify me it's not pretty i know we'll make it really really pretty when i get the metal posts in the ground everything will be wonderful that's coming really really soon okay it started raining and the phone kept getting wet so we're now in the golf cart bear with me i'm recording i'm recording a screen of another phone so this is the app remote remote or whatever that's what it kind of looks like set up a new device okay it's doing a scan uh it looks like we found something i'm gonna call this gate this is the first time doing this so uh bear with me here [Music] so according to this and the engineering information that i got this is supposed to work with uh bluetooth only with wi-fi only even without internet internet connectivity and also uh with wi-fi and world wide web doing a thing receiving keys finalizing setup we might be onto something here gate for a better experience turn the device location uh no thanks you know initial gate system report to ghost controls and i normally wouldn't agree to this but these folks these folks were so nice uh they sent me this oh and full disclosure uh this was all free we're working with the engineering folks about getting that signal changed on the remotes or getting better and they said hey we've got something that will fix you coming up in a few months so they sent me this apparently the first one full disclosure that it's free i didn't pay for this same with that ghost controls but it doesn't matter i'll tell you more about that later okay in initiate okay we'll send a report okay [Music] it's doing a report so we'll just pause it here okay and we're back i sent the initial diagnostic i told them hey call me if you need me but anyways this is what it looks like gate connected to devices closed that's awesome i really like being able to pull up and know the status open and like that that's pretty cool okay let's stop it that's pretty quick i'm pretty happy with that close perfect just a touch all right good this says it's connected through bluetooth i wonder if we can make the old wifi work okay so wi-fi sure all right give me one second i'll be right back so played around a little bit we got the wi-fi a correction we got the bluetooth wi-fi and internet so for me bluetooth and internet are working well let's see one two within three seconds it connects and let's try this and turn off the old wi-fi we'll turn off the old bluetooth and see if it'll actually do a thing there it goes that's cool [Music] i like that status is opening come on go away status is open closed party mode all that stuff some fun stuff in here in the settings uh you can change your auto close here which is really neat let me see i usually have it set for 30 seconds that's good please enter a number between 5 and 250. no you actually have to do the work [Music] okay that's awesome now you don't have to go into the panel and touch the button and country mississippi's that's really neat battery and power i like this one since i am running on solar this tells me battery condition status not charging but we're not charging through the ghost control board which this will this will always be not charging because i'm doing my own charge controller okay battery voltage is good and it tells you here 30 seconds must have elapsed tells you here how much uh what the battery is when it's actually running so that's cool so as the opener is functioning it draws voltage and it's still 12.8 which is well above full so that's good okay system status or state these are all the dip switches we don't mess with those for my setup everything is showing here force is set at 49. that's good caller who cares you can actually hook up a camera to it that's fine um animations this was pretty neat the gate will open and close at whatever you tell it to not for me but uh might be good for somebody so currently uh i just have the app i haven't had to sign in or sign up or input any of my information anything like that uh which i probably will because that opens up automation and other connectivity things like that which is pretty neat alexa on google you can tell alexa you know open open gate or whatever software update i tried doing this it wasn't quite working i'm one firmware away from the current one now keep in mind even engineers told me this is uh this is all beta we're just trying it out and he specifically said a lot of the smart home features a lot of the software features still need a lot of tuning it's going to tell you why it's not important that i got this for free um it is what it is i uh i'll tell you what i see they sent it to me and it came from the engineers not from sales the engineer told me i actually had to ask him to hey tell me more about this so i can tell folks on the video and he said um you know these are some of the features kind of went over them already but uh he said we i don't want to steer anybody i just want you to try it out see how it goes and i definitely will um i'll update as this progresses by the time i gotta redo the whole gate with the posts i'll have plenty of use with this system it'll be good to go later on this summer this will be open to the public which i think this is a pretty cool upgrade super simple and then uh always nice to to have automation and be able to check the status of the gate that's awesome all right if you have any questions on
