as I'm sure everyone already knows not only have I been an unlicensed ham operator for over 40 years but I am also a bof wang uv5r expert and all around know it all for everything relating to the buang UV 5r while off-roading or when it comes to turning on the Roger beep to enrage some people on the local ham radio repeaters but then my friend NC Scout that is not his real name that is the name that he goes by on X formerly known as Twitter NC Scout sent me this book The gorilla's Guide to the buang radio and I must admit that upon seeing this book my very first thought was what kind of an idiot would try to teach a big monkey how to use a boof wang and then my second thought was where can I buy one of these big monkeys and whilst basking in my own arrogance I really thought that this book would be useless to me because as everyone knows I think I know everything however if I'm being honest I actually learned a lot from this book and that is why I am sharing it with you my favorite viewer so that you too can improve your life and learn [Music] something the price for this book is $25 $10 if you get it for your Kindle machine affiliate link below in the more information section and NC Scout by the way that is not his real name he did send me this book along with some other stuff at no cost not necessarily to share it with you I think he sent it to me to prove the point that I do not actually know everything but let's not focus on that because the point here is I did not pay for this book now I understand and I am fully aware that many people do not like books and I also understand that many people also apparently do not even really know how to read but if you fall into either of those categories let not your heart be troubled because this book is only about 155 pages long it has big easy to read letters and lots of pictures and unless you are a complete illiterate you can probably read through the whole thing in just an hour or two and as I mentioned only moments ago I actually did learn several things from this book and the very first thing that I learned is that if you just want to play with your bof Wang radio while eating Doritos on your couch then this book is not for you or if you want to learn how to get a ham radio license this book is also definitely not for you if however you purchased your bof Wang or similar radio for an emergency but you do not have any kind of a plan for using your radio when things get sideways other than taking your radio out of the box and doing this then yeah you need this book the book is written for someone that is not a radio dork and is completely new to radios the author NC Scout which in case you were not aware is not his real name he does not try to impress you with big words or by over complicating simple Concepts he actually goes out of his way to explain everything in very easy to understand stand terms in other words as I alluded to only a moment ago this is not a how to get your ham radio license book or how to learn a bunch of useless stuff you'll never need to know kind of book this book is a how to use your $35 radio in realworld situations when your life might depend on it and nobody gives a about a license or having a permission slip from the government to use it the book starts out slowly by explaining every detail of the bang uv5r radio and why you would or would not want to use each of those things by the way virtually all of that also applies to other buang radios all explained in very simple to understand terms the book goes over not only all of the radio Basics like how and why different frequencies may work best in specific conditions and which frequencies are used for what but it also goes over things like making a Communications plan for your family or neighborhood should it ever become necessary the book teaches how to use your bof Wang or similar radio for everything from simple Back in Forth chitchat all the way up to private encoded Communications and how to build your own repeater using just two bof Wang radios and it even gets into how to use your analog non-digital bang radio to send digital and encrypted messages over the airs and even though that is a very confa subject NC Scout and I should probably let you know that is not his real name he explains even this very confuting subject as simple as is possible the book even teaches you how to make your own antennas for different situations out of things you'd probably have l around the house or rolling around in the bed of your truck all the kinds of stuff that most licensed ham radio operators probably have no idea how to do and if you do have a ham radio license do not think that just because you have a permission slip from the government and a stupid sticker or license plate on your car that makes it easy for anyone to look up your name and address do not fool yourself into thinking that you won't also learn something from this book so if you are looking for an easy to understand source of information to use your bof Wang or similar radios in a real emergency or hit the fan situation then this little book is probably the best place to start
