hi guys and welcome the house at rate today we're going to be making German potato pancakes one of my favorites and I'm going to be using my omega juicer to do the job it's just another use for the juicer now this recipe could probably be done with the centripetal juicer I don't know I haven't tried it with that I'm sure it can be done by using the traditional methods of grading the potato and onion but this juicer is going to help us along in the process so whether you have a juicer or not stay tuned so let's get started the first thing we're gonna need is 1 teaspoon of salt 2 tablespoons of white flour can be all-purpose 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper freshly ground 2 eggs and notice the serial number and date of manufacture 1/2 of a medium-sized yellow onion and 2 and a quarter pounds of peeled potatoes this method of having everything ready to go is called me someplace and culinary currency at this pamphlet pocket I've cut the potatoes up so the density decrease in the vegetable juicer and I've also done the same thing to the onions you can see I'm feeding increase and the dry pulp is coming out one end and the juice Buffalo we're not going to be in the juice but we are going to be using this part to settle scores I've finished running our potatoes through the 2/3 as you can see we have a ton of juice left here this is where we're saving time versus the traditional method where we grate the potatoes by hand and then have to squeeze all that juice out which is virtually impossible so big time savings here now we're gonna set that juice aside because we're gonna let the starch settle and use it you can see the potatoes are nice and dry I'm just gonna stir them up a little bit and at this point I'm gonna add my salt into the mixture this is one teaspoon of salt next comes the black pepper 1/2 teaspoon just add it to your mixture and 2 tablespoons of flour that's all-purpose flour just sprinkle it in and Here Come our coated eggs remember the ones that were dated and numbered and probably patent it I don't remember those when I was a kid uh-huh so we've added those and we're gonna stir them in until we get a nice creamy consistency doesn't take long just pinch this great bow whatever you know flower might have stuck to the side of the bowls it is in rocket science but it has to be done correctly it's actually a little fun there you go and well the Sun looks like mashed potatoes but the knife look now I'm going to take that juice that we set aside and I'm gonna pour it away I'm probably gonna drink it add a little carrot juice to it nice and healthy oh yeah I don't waste much around here let me tell you especially with the price of food so gently tore that out and there you have it there's some potato starch all over the bottom of that little bowl good stuff we need that for our recipe we're not gonna throw that out so with a little patience just gonna scrape the bottom of the little bowl there and get as much of that potato starch out of there as I can who knew you could get that much starch out of a potato who knew you could get that much juice out of a potato actually two and a quarter pounds of potatoes so you can see the starch is very gummy one would expect that as and trying to get every little bit out of there so that's not gonna mix it in oh yeah cooking takes a little time a little patience it's actually smells pretty good right now that's the nice thing about cooking you can smell things you get to taste things always a lot of fun we're pretty much done mixing here all that remains is to bring them over to the stove and start frying add a little vegetable oil to my nonstick pan just enough to cover the bottom don't want to overdo it something's wrong I think my soles is awful eyeball I noticed the oil going through the back of the pan that's not good foot bugs and problems I wonder what happened maybe the ground is breaking away from underneath the home I don't know but I gotta fix that so the meeting and I'm just testing it to see if there's up to 10 sister as you can see when I thinking of any water in there just fizzles right away so now that our candle about the 10th we're gonna add probably a little less than a quarter of the top of our potato mixture to the pan and I think I think we may be free in there especially since my pan isn't level definitely gotta take care of that there we go got three of those little puppies in there just gonna flatten them out a little bit like that potato pancakes are crying along nicely here and this is a good time for a little struts attribute now in cooking there's different types of heat there's a variety like you know nothing there's a moist beef like one steamy there's a wet heat like in boiling and there's also direct heat like when in brewing now what type of heat would you say frying is you've got a couple of seconds to think about it if you said dry heat you're absolutely correct I know I'm gonna get a million emails when this video goes viral summers me that that's not correct but I wouldn't lie to you it is correct hook it up it's been about seven minutes now and our potato pancakes are crying about my sleep and I just can't resist moving that pants I don't know what it is I'm sure there's a lot more you guys out there do the same thing it's time to pay Picabo yeah we're gonna take a look at the bottom of those pancakes and see if it's fine to flip not quite yet well it's been a few minutes since we peaked and it's fine to flip kind of easy this is gonna need a spatula and probably a spoon to help it and you can see that the colors just activated beautiful golden brown and it's last one here that's gonna flip cooked evenly even though it was not in the grease all the way to the michael pan or toe or whatever the problem is so we'll let those go now and cook the other side and I can't resist moving that pan just something about it steak for frying up really well and the key to a very good fries to make sure that you try and keep your oil at 350 degrees nothing lower than that otherwise the oil kinda traits the product as I mentioned this should be a dry heat cooking so the hot oil causing that moisture to drive itself out of the product and prevents the oil from going in if it gets weren't or holders in 350 that process doesn't happen well it's time to peak again I love playing peek-a-boo and there's something about that peekaboo because that you're always excited to see his son but patience is the key patience is always the key in cooking especially in baking but cooking cook can't resist moving those things around I guess somebody could take that spatula right out of my hand time to play peek-a-boo again everything looks nice under there not quite ready to come out well after many games of peekaboo potato pancakes are brown on the bottom and they're ready to put on our plate there's our paper towel for draining and there you have it be lovely potato pancakes well we have our second batch in and you notice a little tiny floater over there over towards the left I don't know what's gonna happen to that well we'll have to wait meantime up with this potato over after playing boomers people who you can see that it was done and we're going to grab this other one here Oh a little floaters in the way what are we gonna do about that remember always batter your fingers before you fry it but there it goes Oh gone and I can tell you it was delicious well we've got all six of our potato pancakes fried up let's get them to the table before the neighbors break down the door and here are six German potato pancakes have you ever seen such a thing of beauty all right folks we're back from all our frying and suction we have a lovely dish of German potato pancakes now traditionally these are served with apple sauce sour cream whenever you like sometimes preserved peaches preserve pears anything goes good with a potato pancake so we're gonna give them a taste now and see how they came out mmm nice and crunchy on the outside nicely done on the inside me perfectly seasoned absolutely delicious not greasy at all cooked all the way through with a phenomenal crunch on the outside how do I rate it i rated a 5 again you can make this without the juicer but you saw how how nicely the pulp came out it was very dry I didn't have to go through all the other steps very very simple with the Omega juicer I'd like to know how it turns out with centrifugal juicer maybe somebody out there can try it if not if you don't have a juicer just the old-fashioned way grate them up and then once they're grated dry them as best you can and make your batter up with the potatoes dry them up on medium heat they're absolutely delicious I hope you enjoyed this video if you did please give me a like and don't forget to subscribe we'll see y'all soon bye bye
