Genesis yeah I believe we'll Genesis 19 is what we hid before so we'll go on with the review of 19 and go right into 20 19 was interesting because we're talking about light 19 the Genesis 19 focused on light we know light is the nephew of Abraham and lot was living in Sodom at the time and what happened was love it description isn't referencing how long light lived here but we know that light was there and had a job and he was somewhat his position was guarding the gate if you will and two strangers appeared and if you followed our Bible study from chapter eighteen I believe is when I talked about the visitation of the Lord Jesus Christ in two angels the Lord Jesus was sent to look if you will he said that cries the cries of sin had reached up to heaven and he came down himself to see exactly how significant the cries were to see what kind of validity there was and it nevertheless the two angels that accompany him have went on before him to to render judgment if you will to the city of a Sodom and Gomorrah anyway they came across lot who was guarding the gate that night and lot seen two men and lot was you know because lot knew of the conditions of the city you know the filth the homosexuality that was prevalent within the city lot knew that it was dangerous for those the two new men that was around town to be out they were about to enter the city and Laughton lot was concerned for their safety if you will so he left his post when it got them and convinced him to come to his home and at least by their throughout the night and my wife and I was talking about this and she said something that was you know that was significant one of the things that my wife said about it is is a lot of sin a lot of stuff happened in the night time you know the party goers a lot of stuff happened a night time and quite prom quite possibly you know the sin and that night was prevalent - which is why lot would have wanted them to spend the night and at least continue on with their journey in the morning nevertheless he convinced to come under his roof and the the men of the city of sodom seen those though you know the I should say the dwellers of the city of Sodom seeing the men on that word the new men that went under a lots roof and they came and surrounded the house and beat on the door and insisted that the two men that lot let those two men come on out here so you know come on outside I should say so that they can have sex with them they end and one of the things that we understand here is we call you know we call this kind of behavior homosexuality or you know homosexual behavior these scriptures actually call them sodomites and then Sodom ID is it's real graphic here you know to teach this particular lesson here but it's the Bible and it's these are the stories of the Bible and it's true they call them sodomites we call them homosexuality and homosexuals today or gay whatever but the Scriptures are at least back then called him sodomites nevertheless the men wanted the guys to come on out there so that they can sodomized him a lot actually came out of his home to try to to to tone it down he even offered his two virgin daughters who by the way were married he offered there's two virgin daughters in exchange of you know for the for them to leave these two men alone who by the way were angels as well the man didn't have taste this spirit of homosexuality that was on them they lost all tasteful women as a matter of fact they like wait a minute you know you don't set up here and trying to awful as your daughter's over what have you who you think you a judge you only you only been here a short time and you don't sit here and try to judge us then we're going to do unto you worse than what we plan to do unto the men that you're protecting in your own at that particular time the Angels open up the door pull a lot into the house and shut the door and put a blindness on all the men from the youngest to the oldest or the great greatest to the smallest and they have their blindness was so severe they went they couldn't find their way in that place you know that's how severe their blindness was at that time the Angels too lot to go with no retrievers family anybody that he wanted spared he need to go go and get them the angel told them what their job was what their assignment was from heaven and lot went to went out to go and talk with this daughters husbands now reminding now mind you the daughters were married but yet they were virgins reason being is because in that that particular time were not that time that's that town I would say that the taste of women have been lost because of the perversion that resonated and permeate permeated throughout we're still talking about the review of chapter 19 if you will but nevertheless actually I believe his chapter chapter 18 and yeah I'm sorry it is chapter 19 I'm still going on with it but nevertheless anyway this to summarize this thing as the morning came the the angels of the Lord took lot his two daughters and their mother and and told them they need to head for the mountains for safety because they was about to rain down brimstone you know ashes and brimstone onto the city fire and brimstone I would say and they a lot talk to them about maybe instead of going to the mountains maybe going to a town that he can dwell in and the angels of the Lord heard him and spared him and said you know fine go to the town no problem but one but hurry get there because someone should we can't do anything until you're safe and that was because of the intercession of uh of uh Abraham was interceding for you know for Sodom and Gomorrah or for if there be any righteous there and God heard this and this is what was talked about the prayer of the righteous this is what we talked about the you know we always open up the Bible studies with with prayer requests you know those of you that may have prayer requests it works it actually works and and Abraham's prayers save life and and those that would come and live with him but nevertheless as they were on their way the wife look back or the mother of the daughters look back she was told not to and and she looked back as as though she would miss you know her the city and end the life thereof and soon as she looked back and beheld with their eyes she end up turning into a pillar of salt amen so y'all want to be focused on the past if the Lord is trying to bring you somewhere you know he's an you got he's got people invested in you in prayer and he's trying to put you into a new place and do new things you can't be focused on the old things and how you're going to miss them you know now you're stagnating the will of God for your life amen I nevertheless to go on with the review here of chapter 19 all the petitioning that Locke did as far as standing in the town for one particular town he end up not going there or end up leaving that town and going up going up into a mountain to stay there you know to to pass the time when to the angels and what they were going to handle and the daughters of lai di two daughters remember they were virgins they were concerned that the that the Angels destroyed all men and that the only man that was left was that of their father and so they decided to get father drunken and mate you know procreate I should say with the father and they both had sons one of them was bent benami which is that it was a father of the children of ammon and the other one which was by the firstborn became his name was Moab he was the father of the Moabites so we can data conclude the the very interesting Bible study too for you know for Genesis 19 so if you haven't already checked out our teaching on Genesis 19 you might want to go to our website and you know click around you'll you'll be able to find the actual video there we'll go right into Genesis 20 and Abraham journeyed from dibbs toward the south country and dwelt between condition sure and he stayed in gira and Abraham said of Sarah his wife she is my sister and Abimelech king of giro sent and took Sarah where did we hear that before um remember when Abraham went went down into he went down into Egypt and Pharaoh he assumes he right before they get in Egypt he told his wife you know no no don't go in there saying that we married you be the people we all know too much about them you better go in there saying that you my sister because as fine as you look if they catch wind that you are my wife they're going to kill me and have their way with you so it's better for you to say that that we are brother and sister you know that'll work out better at least you know for that from his pointed perspective so he tried the same thing here in giro ah and King Abimelech first thing he do is tell us is to let him know that you know till his wife rather Sarah to let the King know that brother and sister so and Sarah did that verse three but God came to Abimelech which was a king and a dream by night and said to him behold thou art but a dead man for the woman which thou has taken for she is a man's wife but Abimelech had not come near her and he said Lord without slay also a righteous nation said he not unto me she is my sister and she even she herself said he is my brother in the integrity of my heart and the innocency of my hands have I done this and God said unto Him in a dream yeah I know that though I know that thou did us in the integrity of thy heart fire also withheld thee from sinning against me therefore suffer die the not to touch her or God is saying therefore I prevented you from touching her and he goes on to say of verse 7 now therefore restore the man his wife for he is a prophet and he shall pray for thee and thou shalt live and avouch and if thou restore her not know that the for surely or no that thou shalt surely die thou and all that are dying and that was interesting because I know you can look and Abimelech is being punished for the deception of Abraham and his wife the thing about it is Abraham was considered holy to God and and whether wrong or right you know Abraham was wrong for what he did but whether wrong go right he is still considered holy to God that is part of a covenant of God to where the four skins were cut and like and like God said to Abimelech I protect I'll prevented you from even touching her without you even knowing and I know you did touch her the reason why you didn't touch her is because I wouldn't let you because that's his wife he is holy to me as part of my covenant but you still got a curse upon you for having what don't belong to you in the first place you know so what you need to do to break this curse you need to get a man back his wife get the man back his wife but you got understand this if you don't do it you're going to die because there's a curse that's already on your life basically there is a contract that's already on you in order to break this contract the first things first get a man back its wife and then I'll have him pray for you that this contract will be broken the contract that's on your life and on your family's life so that's what this is what the Lord God is telling Abimelech and then you got it fail for Bimala because if ever look like not only did she not only did he tell me this but she told me this thing too you know what's going with the lesson here verse a therefore Abimelech rose early in the morning and called all his servants I totally told all told all these things in their ears and the men were so afraid then I better let called out for him and said unto them what has thought done unto us and what have I all hot what have I offended thee that thought has brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin what have I done unto you what have you seen in me and in this kingdom that she would allow this kingdom to be cursed to the point of death what's the deal he goes on to say thou has done deeds unto me that I would not be done and Abimelech said o tayba now what saw was sound that thong has done this thing a bit love you know he this is a king and his kingdom is cursed because of the deception that Abraham and and Sarah you know that they were in cahoots together about this deception so his kingdom is cursed and he said what did you see here you came to stay with us what was it about this place that you've seen that you would allow curses to befall us in verse 11 and Abraham said because I thought surely the fear of God has not hit this place and they will slay me for my wife's sake and yet indeed she is my sister she is the daughter of my father but not the daughter of my mother and she became my wife and it came to pass that when God calls me to wonder from my father's house that I said unto her this is the kindness which thou shalt show unto me at every place whether we shall come say of me he is my brother and Abimelech Abimelech took sheep oxen men servants and women servants and gave them unto Abraham and restored Sarah his wife and Abimelech said Behold my land is before thee dwell where pleases thee and unto Sarah he said behold I have given my brother a thousand pieces of silver because he is to be a covering of the eyes unto all that are with thee and with all others thus she was reproved now let's look at that let's look at verse 16 again I've given unto thee giving out your brother a thousand pieces of silver and is actually literally talking about pieces because they don't have coins back then so you're looking at pieces or the weight of silver that he's been given chunks of silver it's what they're saying but it goes on and say because he is the a covering of the eyes you know until all and so you got to understand what's happening here he's letting the sister know in front of everybody here is I've given your brother some silver basically it's looking like a been electing wrong and that's what that's what's happening he's letting them know that you're that people would know from this point on that you shouldn't be touched and he's saying this he's doing this in front of everybody that you shouldn't be touched because you belong to him and because I've done wrong knowing that in a sense he didn't but because I've done wrong I'm paying my deeds off because out what I've done was wrong but people should know that you that they can't touch you you know but I love that she herself became she she got convicted because of the situation that they put him in a man so Abraham prayed unto God and God healed Abimelech and his wife and the maidservants and they bear children because remember he could because he was you know when God said that that they would surely die not only was you know not only was he going to kill them but he would have wiped them out completely because he made sure that none of them could reproduce he made sure that all of them was barren so not only would they die but they would those that survived would never be able to have children so Abraham had to pray for bellick and Abimelech was healed through the prayers of Abraham for the Lord had fast closed up all the wombs of the house of Abimelech because of Sarah's Abraham's wife and man we can actually go on with 21 and we can we get we should be able to get up get through with 21 here and the Lord visited Sara as he had said and the Lord did unto Sarah as he had spoken for Sarah conceived and bare abraham a son in his own age at the set time which God had spoken unto him remember God came and visit him prior and say and said you know next year at this time I would restore the time until to uh so Sarah and and she would give unto thee a child and you should call his name Isaac and remember Sarah laughed and remember the Lord Lord Jesus was like now whoa what are you laughing about you know and she was like well I didn't laugh he said Binet thou Dennis laugh so that's when he had you know all this time he kept reaffirming not now you got it all so go back because I think Abraham wasn't he's 75 years old when the Lord called him to get thee away from my kindred house Abraham I believe was 75 years old at the time that he was called from the from the land of the Chaldeans and because and you figure he is now I believe to be a hundred years old okay yeah here it is of verse 12 and and four so Abraham departed as as as the Lord had spoken to him and lot went went with him and Abraham was seventy and five years old when he departed out of Haran and you know they were over there they began in the land of the counties okay so you figured seventy five years old and now he is looks to be about a hundred years old look how long it took for the we're talking some twenty five years that from the time he departed to where you know to to this this whole covenant thing being fulfilled that's major we talking 25 years how many people this is why Abraham is counted of faith because it didn't happen overnight you know God said something a seed was planted some 25 years ago and God kept coming back and watering this promise if you will and now all of the sudden it's finally come to fruition which is some 25 years later that's why his faith now he can see that he's imperfect you can see how he'd get a little frayed and and and lie you know he forget that God as a shield but even him forgetting that god that's a shield he never stopped believing in God his wife you know he's a hundred years old we're talking some twenty five years later that that part of this covenant that the Covenant has been fulfilled he was already told that his seed would have you know that his seed would be given the land but he's like I'm what see so this I felt uh that's major here we're talking to this is why you can see that some of the faith was counted to Abraham why he would be a man of faith anyway let's go on with the lesson here apron so for Sarah conceived and bare my son in his old age at the set time and which God has spoken to him and Abraham called the name of the son that was born unto Him whom Sara bear to him Isaac and the name of that name Isaac mean laughter and Abraham circumcised Isaac being 8 days old as God has commanded him remember the Covenant God said that any men servants any sons even their kids anybody that's that's of your household they need the foreskins cut off 8 days old you know if they're new if they're babies whatever you know they need to be cut their men's service is already there they need to be cut now if they're born new then they need to be cut no more than 8 days old verse 5 and Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born again we're talking 25 years from the time that he left a landing here on you know to the time that that that he is having a son here that the manifestation of the promises of the Lord and remember God is not on the same time that we are so when God tells us something we're sitting here waiting like okay when is this going to happen when when is it going to get done and as the days go by we're watching our watches and our clocks and as we're not seeing the tangible evidence of the promise of God how many of us began to lose faith God may have told you something some 15 years ago and you haven't seen it come to pass yet and you're getting a little nervous and getting less and you're waiting to walk out of position because you don't see the promise you know that's that's a problem but we can see here that God is unchanging and and this man stayed in there and it's major but let's go on with the lesson and verse 6 and Sara said God had made me the lab so that all that hear will laugh with me she said who would have said unto Abraham that Sarah should give should have given children suck for I have borne him a son in his old age and the child grew and was weaned which means the child was brought off off the paps if you will no longer the breast milk and Abraham made a great feats the same day that Isaac was weaned and Sarah saw the son of Hagar the Egyptian which he had born unto Abraham mocking this will be significant let me finish here and then we'll talk about this a little bit first and wherefore she said unto Abraham cast out the bondwoman and her son for the son of this bondwoman shall not be heir with my son even with Isaac and this thing was very Grievous in Abraham and Abraham sight because this was his son and God said unto Abraham let it not be Grievous in thy sight because of the lad because of that bondwoman all that Sarah hath said unto thee hearken unto her voice for in Isaac shall thy seed be called and also of the son of the bondwoman will I make a nation because he is thy seed Abraham will rose up early in the morning and took bread and a bottle of water and gave it unto Hagar put it in on on her shoulder and the child and sent her away and she departed and wandered into the wilderness of Beersheba first of all let me talk about what's happening here the the Isaac is now I'm sorry Ishmael is now 14 years old okay at the time that Isaac is here Ishmael is 14 years old he's mocking okay he's mocking a and and they don't take much if if you remember Sarah already had issues with the with the mother a hag are to begin with because of the wit the disdain you know when when the Abraham and Hagar conceived Ishmael when he was conceived she actually you know the mother actually looked at Sarah you know what animosity was some disdain and you know and Sarah Sarah didn't like that from the beginning you know and so uh she she handled Hagar Hagar and away under the hand of I guess she felt like the hand of Sarah was too harsh and she she ran away but the angel of the Lord sent her back and that she comes back you know so it doesn't take much if you're if you already if a person already don't like you eh all it take is just a little things but outside of that this had to happen and let me tell you what the implications of this is why this had to happen we look at just Ishmael mocking you know I mean the name of Isaac means laughter so we look at Ishmael mocking the name if you will okay that seems insignificant to where I don't see why they would have got thrown out in the first place when you look at it from the surface it seems it's insignificant but there is something that's happening here we're talking about a spiritual covenant okay we're talking about the Lord Jesus Christ is going to come through this bloodline alright this whole thing we're talking Ishmael and Isaac represents the law versus faith when as we talked in the Gospel of John that that was a profound gospel because Lord Jesus Christ kept talking to the Pharisees about unrighteous judgment the way they are on the people of God you know that the Jews the the Pharisees were all about the law whereas those that believed in the Lord Jesus Christ they're all about faith Isaac represents the faith Ishmael is going to represent the law so when you see Haggar when you see a Sarah Sarah casting out a casting out the the son Ishmael and the mother this is metaphoric of what's going to happen down the road it is to say that God is casting out the law and replacing it with faith even though the law hasn't been written yet it is still symbolic to what's going to happen down remember Isaac is going to represent faith which is part of this covenant remember he was born it was a miraculous birth which means her body was sealed up and closed it wasn't able to produce God had to touch that body to make it produce so this becomes a child out of faith whereas the other one becomes a child or a prodigy of the law when you see Sara casting out the law that's what's going to happen down the line when Jesus come he's casting out the law and trying to get people to adhere to faith that this is significant here amen even though the law hasn't been written it's still symbolic and reminiscent of what's going to happen down the road let's go on with the lesson where we had here versa verse 15 and the water was spent in a bottle where the bottle was empty and she cast a child under under one of the shrubs and she went and set her down over against him and a good way off as it were about a bow shot away for for she said let me not see the death of the child and she sat over against him and lift up her voice and wept and God heard the voice of the lad and the angel of God called to Hagar out of heaven and said unto her what aileth thee Hagar fear not for God has heard the voice of the lad where he is arise lift up the land and hold him in thine hand for I will make him a great nation and God opened her eyes and she saw a will of water and she went and filled the bottle with the water and gave the lad drink and God was with the lad and he grew and dwelt in the wilderness and became an hour-and Archer and he dwelt in the wilderness of Paran and his mother took him a wife out of the land of Egypt um God fathered Ishmael amen because you gotta understand it came that child came from Abraham Abraham was blessed everything around Abraham was we see we seen lot the nephew of Abraham he was blessed with wealth major so it seemed like any and everything associated with Abraham was blessed so obviously the child of Abraham was going to be but but unfortunately Ishmael is not part of the Covenant but that didn't stop God for fathering the child amen verse 22 and it came to pass excuse me in the came to pass at the time at that time on that Abimelech and pinko fee Cove I should say fee Co the chief captain of the host spake unto Abraham saying God is with you and all that thou doest now this is pretty funny here okay cuz you got AB Emelec coming and you've got a general a sergeant if you will a sergeant of arms the general of arms coming to Abraham and and one thing they're saying we understand that God is with thee so let me read on some more then we will elaborate a little bit on them now therefore swear unto me here by God I thought were not there falsely with me nor with my sons nor with my son sons but according to the kindness that I've done unto thee thou shalt do unto me and to the land where thou has stayed and Abraham said I swear and Abraham reproved Abimelech because of the well of water because of a willow well let me stop right here before I get into this well of water you got the captain of the host and you got a been electing to Abraham and let me tell you what the concern is Abraham this man is is blessed a bill that couldn't even touch he wasn't even allowed to touch the wife of Abraham he didn't even touch her he didn't even he had no ill-will intentions if you will when he took him when he went to make her his wife um he didn't know that that was his that was Abraham's wife he would had intentions on on having a new wife himself so there is some concern here that Abraham puts him in some situations that will cause him and his kingdom to perish so there they know that they can't touch Abraham okay and they saying Abraham got the blessings of the Lord on him and so he brings the general to make sure that we can make that there was going to always be an everlasting truth if you will or truce not truth but truth between us he's got the general with them to kind of confirm this thing because he knows that man I'm not I'm not dealing with an ordinary man I'm dealing with a man or if this man fine fine fault with me I'm I'm going God is gonna kill my kingdom you know so they're setting and wanting to make a covenant or truce if you will with Abraham so they go on here verse 23 now therefore swear unto me here by God's I thought would not deal falsely with me nor my sons nor my son so but according to the kindness that I've shown unto thee that thou should that thou should do unto me and to the lamb wearing thou has stayed and Abraham said I will I'll swear now here's what Abraham says Abraham reproved of dim-lit because of a weld of water which a bit like servant have violently taken away Abimelech said I knew not of what had no who had done this thing neither didst thou tell me neither heard I of it but today so Abraham will say well knowledge now that we're talking and we're talking about truce and and and peace between us and stuff you know there's an issue that came up not too long ago the world that we've been you know that we've been drinking out of your servants came and snatched it up out of us and they snatched him violently a bit look like wait a minute watch this first time that I'm hearing about this I hadn't heard anything like that happening you know he said this is the first time I'm hearing of it he you never even said nothing about it till today you know so that's what happened um verse 27 and Abraham took sheep and oxen and gave unto Abimelech and both of them made a covenant and Abraham said seven lambs or seven sheeps of or seven ewe lambs a flock by themselves or seven sheep you can say and Abraham said unto Abimelech said unto Abraham what meaneth II seven sheep which thou has set my or set by themselves and he said for these seven sheep show they'll take up my hand that they be witness unto me that I have dug this well so basically he said look I'll tell you what I want to set these sheep off here by the side and this is going to symbolically represent witnesses that it was me that dug this well you know you know not your people but it was me that put in the work and up as well and there are they are the witnesses of this going on with this wherefore he called that place very Sheba because they swear both of them thus they made a cut a covenant I bear Sheba then Abimelech rose up and freako the chief of captain of the hosts and they returned into the land of Philistine and Abraham planted a Grove or kind of a shrub if you will it's called it tomb a tamarisk shrub and that's bill ta ma RI sk but nevertheless it's a kind of a shrub nevertheless in amber she been called there the name of the law and called the called there on the name of the Lord the everlasting God for he is and Abraham stayed in the Philistines lands many days so we can stop right there next time we'll pick up at chapter 22 interesting lesson you know especially when you think about as I said the Covenant and here's one thing that I didn't bring up this kid is 14 years old so one of the reasons why he might be knocking and we're talking about Ishmael one of the reasons Ishmael might be mocking because he may have some disdain for his brother too because what it means is his brother is because there is an actual another child that's born from the wife which is Sarah and and and Abraham Ishmael already know that he ain't got no kind of inheritance coming from his father you know he's 14 he knows this trust me and so that's one of the reasons why God might be mocking but at the end of the day we're only looking at surface reasons but when the Lord comes forth and say listen to your wife for she knows its mill is not part of the Covenant listen that's that that you know that God's hand is in this it's not just surface animosity you know but there's something more symbolic happening in the depths of it and and and what we know for sure is that Ishmael is going to represent the law whereas Isaac is going to represent faith which is that of Jesus Christ amen so we'll pick up next time Lord willing at chapter 22 of the book of Genesis right now very briefly I want to take this opportunity those are you that are backslidden those are you I'm not going to even spend time trying to dress this thing up because I think you know better I think you know the difference between light and darkness sometimes we get caught up with out of curiosity we get out of place we talked about being in place earlier remember we're talking some 25 years down the road that that the promises of God is starting to manifest sometime we get out of place and we begin to fall back and fall out of place that once we get out of place or off the path will die' torn into street lights or streets with no lights I should say and it's all dark and before you know it you're doing the things that you used to do before you knew Christ and you're even in worse situations this is an opportunity for you to come back because the Lord loves the backslider and what I mean by the loves the backslider he heals your backsliding whatever caused you to leave from him you know once you come back he don't bring it back up he still loves you a man you just got to love him enough to go back those of you that have not accepted him maybe you have some questionable lifestyles that don't line up with with what God seemed best for you you know maybe
