refreshed I hope you were joining me in your home from your home they're worshiping God amen I love our worship team and we just you know give them a little appreciation right where you're at just for their work it's definitely a different venue for them as it is for all of us here at generations church our kids ministry is putting together an incredible Kids program they had me in stitches last week I feel like I want to join the UNSTOPABLES so just good stuff all the way around the course are the the main event here the message on Sunday morning yeah just a lot of different things that we're learning and we're having fun with it it is a lot of new work a different work but um and we're glad to be able to come to you guys and you know just thinking about everybody this week humbled by the absolute encouragement that we're getting from so many people during the season we want to be encouraging all of you and all of you are encouraging us with kind words and texts and phone calls and support of different kinds prayer and other ways so we just appreciate you guys and love you and we can't wait to be back together with you we have some special stuff coming up for Mother's Day and also a couple other things in the making looks like we're gonna be online for the next few weeks at least probably towards the end of this month and then we'll see what happens from there but we have some other things we're planning to connect with you as well so stay tuned keep looking at your Facebook and your Instagram and you can find out what's going on with us so let's get into the word this morning amen guys y'all know you can find information on just about any subject that you would like to research and it was no different when it came to our subject this morning I found an almost infinite amount of information theories teachings on the subject of uncertainty and that's what I want to talk to you about this morning uncertainty and here's why because most people feel that we are in a season of rate uncertainty even myself you know wondering just I stated a moment ago we think we're gonna be maybe gathering after may physically back at our building here but we're not sure it's uncertain when I begin to research and study this subject out I found things like the joy of uncertainty well I don't know about that the surprising power of uncertainty coping with uncertainty embracing uncertainty now speaking of embracing something brace yourself because I even found something called the Heisenberg uncertainty principle now I know that just ministered to the deepest part of who you are we could just close right here Amen I know you got touched by that the Heisenberg uncertainty principle this is a statement articulated or made in 1927 by the German physicist Werner Heisenberg it gets a little technical here he stated that the position and the velocity of an object cannot both be measured exactly at the same time even in theory he built a theory on uncertainty about that he said you can't have an object and measure where it's at in time and space and then measure where it will be at the same time it's an uncertain possibility plausibility you can't you can't figure that out interesting how curious people were about the certainty and uncertainty of things if you think about it a further humanistic look at the various aspects of uncertainty takes us into the wonderful world of quantum physics and we're not going to go there this morning amen but it was just interesting to me to see the kind of delving into the kind of research that people did when it came to being certain about things whether it is the origin of man the origin of life the certainty of these things a certainty of how the universe was created it it really got you know say for lack of a better word scientific in their in their quest for discovering the certainty of things finally if we go deep enough into the human understanding of uncertainty we might end up with ideas like that of German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche I know some of you have heard of him and I quote madness is the result not of uncertainty but certainty Nietzsche did not think we can be certain of very much anything if anything at all he said madness comes not from uncertainty but from saying that you're certain about something he didn't think that we could be certain of really anything and this was especially true of him when it came to religion Nietzsche didn't think that you could be certain about the origin of men about God about creation one of the comments that Nietzsche was most known for was God is dead Frederick or Nietzsche that was one of his most common comments it appeared in several of his writings and sadly following a psychotic breakdown in 1889 at the age of 44 years old Nietzsche was admitted to the Basel mental asylum then transferred to the Jena mental asylum there he remained in demented darkness until his death eleven years later this is what came of a man who said that you can't be certain of anything you can't be certain of God there's no certainty at all we know that's not true let's shift from what man says about certainty we're talking about being in a season of uncertainty guys let's shift from what man says about certainty to what God says about certainty we're gonna read from first Corinthians chapter 2 verse 1 through 5 but in the prior chapter verse 1 or chapter 1 of 1st Corinthians Paul is talking how God uses simple things even foolish things according to this world to confound the wise he goes on to say things like let him who boasts boast in the Lord so Paul's talking about God using things that would seem impressive in the natural to actually accomplish his will I think of like maybe a shepherd boy who became a king or fisherman and people of the night who became the apostles and prophets of the early church God takes simple things to confound the wise and it's the same thing with this idea of uncertainty when we would think that were most in a most uncertain time God says you can be absolutely certain that he's in control amen let me read it to you here in chapter two of his letter Paul tells the Christians living in Greece at that time he says and so it was with me brothers and sisters when I came to you I did not come to you with eloquence or human wisdom as I proclaimed to you the testimony about God for I resolved to know nothing while I was with you except Jesus Christ and him crucified I came to you in weakness with great fear and trembling my message in my preaching were not with wise and persuasive words but with a bit demonstration of the spirit's power so that your faith might not rest on human wisdom but on God's power God wants our faith at this season and through all seasons we'll talk about this in a moment to rest not on our understanding not on our certainty but on the certainty of who he is and the certainty of his kingdom and the certainty of his power that's what we can be certain of in this season that God is in control I want to encourage you this morning with that sentiment God is in control we can be certain of that maybe you need to say that right where you're at God is in control I can be certain of that we might not be certain about how long we'll be dealing with our current reality but we can be certain that God knows the the comment that comment may not be a comment that is impressive that God is in control that might not be impressive or wise in an earthly sense but it carries all the significance possible in a heavenly sense and I'm not talking to the man this morning I'm not talking to the woman this morning I'm talking to the Spirit of God that resides within you that's what I'm ministering to this morning I'm trying to touch that spirit of God that is resident within your heart that quickens when it hears of reality and truth from God's Word and when we say God's in control right now God's in control that might not sound impressive to people of this world but like we said God always uses foolish things to confound the wise so God is in control let that Minister to you this morning it might not sound impressive to people in the world but it carries all the significance of heaven amen here's a great question though how do we live in the interim how do we live in the season between our predicament and God's promise because that's where we're at right now we're in this season of uncertainty this season of a predicament waiting for God's promise to be fulfilled that he's in control that he's still on the throne that he's still gonna bless he's still gonna use you he's still gonna move how do we live in that season in that working between season Bible says all things work together for the good for those who love God and are called according to his purpose all things work together for the good sometimes we're in that working together season where God is arranging things by his Providence by his sovereignty and we're in a working together season how do we live in that season the season between our predicament and God's promised coming to pass and I believe that question is perfectly answered in Romans chapter 1 verse 16 and 17 for I am not ashamed of the gospel for it is the power of God unto salvation to everyone that believes to the Jew first and also to the Greek for therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith as is written and here it is how do we live in the season of predicament between our predicament and God's promise how do we live the just shall live by faith that's how we live in this season right so we live in the season our human predicament that we're here in the earth waiting some day to go to glory how do we live in this predict between the predicament and the promise by faith the just live by faith we live by faith right now during the season of coronavirus we live by faith in the season of after coronavirus and before that's how we're to live in this earth in faith Paul tells us the exact posture we are to take as we live in we live by faith listen we don't live by wits that's a popular response in uncertainty we feel the need to be the one that always has the quick answer the clever answer the informed response people don't like to say well I just don't know I mean we want to give a response we want to live by our wits Paul says you don't live by your wits how about we don't live by our ingenuity another popular position people take hey if we don't understand something we will create a theory or a supposition and tell it like it's the gospel we know why coronavirus is happening we know why we're in this situation we know why the world is in this situation that's and we know why people get into predicaments we have this sense of kind of mental ingenuity where we want to create a response to something but we don't live by ingenuity we don't live by wit so we don't live by force power or coercion sometimes that's the position people take when they are not certain they try to force their way or their beliefs we are to live by faith not by our wits not by force not by ingenuity not by coercion God can use your mental faculties obviously he can use ingenuity in your life but you don't live by those things we live by faith and God who gave us the ability to be ingenious to be witty to be assertive about something we live by faith I want to give you three things here what does living by faith look like I said go okay so let's close it out go live by faith some people might say I don't really know exactly what that means how do we live by faith let me give you three quick things here and we talked about this last week I believe we said something similar this always being a season of believing God for something and that's the problem with some people you're just not believing God for anything you're kind of rolling out of bed during the day I love you don't get me wrong you're rolling out of the bed you're going to work you're living your life you're going to the grocery store you're doing your shopping but you're not believing God for something you're not believing God to use you in some way to use you as a conduit of his power to use you to reach people to use you at church in ministry around your neighborhood amongst your family members amongst your friends you're not believing God to grow you and and shape you to be the person that he wants you to be really some people need to get a vision for life always be in a season of believing God for something let's go back to Romans chapter 1 verse 17 the just shall live by faith if you're not living by faith you're not you're not really living in the full spectrum of what God wants to do in your life you have to shake off kind of the apathy this world will box you in to kind of this humanistic existence were it's just all about you and what you can make happen God wants us to live beyond the realm of us come on somebody he wants us to live in the realm of who he is how he makes things happen how he shifts things by faith by faith amen faith is believing that God and the world he designed is under his absolute instruction and in thought and authority this world is under God's instruction and his authority he's over everything he's in control of everything there's not a moment throughout the span of time from the beginning to eternity that God has not been in control that's the God we serve say mark it's too much for me to comprehend hey amen praise God we need a God beyond our comprehending I mean I don't need a God I can figure out I need a God that's beyond my figuring out I want to be pulled into something that's so much greater than my understanding amen come on somebody get blessed this morning faith is believing that God and the world he designed is under his absolute instruction and authority that's what faith is so was that oh you know it's doom and gloom right now that's not what my God says that's not what the Bible says the Bible doesn't say oh it's gonna all end on a coronavirus that's a lie that's human understanding that's human width that's human ingenuity it's even some human force people trying to force their agenda for whatever reason that's what happens when there's uncertainty people would even like to exploit you during seasons of uncertainty come on I'm trying to help somebody this morning faith is living daily as a child of God and guess what that has the potential to lift you to a higher place of joy fulfillment and effectiveness than you ever imagine amen Ephesians 3:20 he does exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask her think so living by faith pulls us into a greater place of living amen when we're not living by faith we're just kind of there in life but we begin to live by faith it begins to automatically pull us higher amen how do people think well if I get closer to God it's gonna take away my joy it's gonna restrict me that's a lie from the devil that's a lie that living for God will restrict you that living for God will Steiff Steiff and you somehow stifle you somehow let me forgot opens your life up it opens you up to be a more loving person it opens you up to be a more giving person it opens you up to be a more courageous person a more active person a more joyful person a more forgiving person God opens people's lives up he doesn't close them up that's what the enemy wants to do is shut you down he doesn't want you to hear this message about living by faith he he says coronavirus close the door hide get away from everybody and don't let that affect your spirit amen even though we're doing some social distancing don't let that distance don't let the distancing of your spirit from God's truth and God's Word happen that's where fear comes in listen number two interpret life through God's Word how do we live by faith how do we live between the season of our predicament whatever it is and the promise whatever promise you're believing for what's another way we live there by interpreting life through God's word right we don't interpret life through our situations we said what does the word of God say Jesus is speaking with his disciples and what he is saying is hard to understand for them ever been there specifically the act of communion and symbolically eating his flesh and drinking his blood as a means of identifying with the sacrifice he would make on the cross for them and he's talking to them about communion listen to this after this many of his disciples turned back and no longer walked with him man when Jesus says something tough to you maybe in a season you're uncertain these guys were uncertain about what Jesus was talking about he just said eat his flesh drink his blood what does that mean they were area uncertain at that moment as far as what Jesus was talking about and they left him he was getting ready to he's telling him a great truth of great revelation but because of the uncertainty of their understanding of something God was trying to do in their life they backed away we're like that sometimes God begins to close in on us and we're kind of uncertain does this mean I'm gonna have to leave my friends just mean I'm gonna have to do this does this mean he's going to take away my joy and we get we get this kind of panic of uncertainty we leave Jesus that's what happened here we're not the first ones they turned back and they no longer walk with Jesus because he said something to them that made them feel uncertain about their future and their relationship with Jesus jesus said to the twelve he looked at them listen do you guys want to go away also and then Simon Peter my boy amen he answered him Lord where would we go from here you alone have the words of eternal life John chapter 6 verse 66 through 68 where can we go from here you alone have the words of eternal life I'm gonna live my life I'm gonna interpret life through your word Jesus I'm gonna interpret life come on somebody I'm gonna interpret sexuality I'm gonna interpret finances I'm gonna interpret leisure time through the Word of God that's how we live by faith interpreting life through God's Word living by faith is encountering life by God's design do you hear that living by faith is encountering life by God's design and to do that to encounter life by God's design means we got to resist the temptation to live life on our terms amen it's trusting His Word just like those early followers of Jesus did last thing here guys how do we live life between our predicament and the promise that God's gonna fix things you ask God to fill you with the power of the Holy Spirit we need the infilling of the Holy Spirit I know there are some people say an amen preach it right now but there's some people that don't really know what I'm saying when I say that listen I didn't know what it meant to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit and it's a miracle to me today how God fills my heart that wanted to move away from God that wanted to do the things that I wanted to do how God was able to fill my heart and make me want to do the things that he wanted me to do amen and that comes from being filled with his spirit it pushes out me and fills me with him I mean if you like a glass you know a glass can only take so much our lives get filled up with ourselves we have to decrease that God would increase I said we have to decrease that God would increase I'd like God to touch me mark I'd like God to work in my life more the Bible says you have to decrease for that to happen and I know sometimes when we're going through a season of decrease it feels like something's being taken from us but God will put something in your life so much greater than whatever that thing is I've seen God take things out of my life that I really liked clinging to and gave me something so much greater in exchange for that so be courageous amen when God moves towards you we're talking about asking God to fill us with the Holy Spirit and for him to fill us with the Holy Spirit we have to resist the temptation to live our own lives amen to live life on our terms living by faith is encountering life by God's design and to encounter life by God's design we have to forsake encountering life by our design amen this is where it gets real listen for God is working in you giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him philippians 2:13 god wants to work in you to give you the desire and the power to do the things that please him the last few months of my life before Christ before I became a Christian in the last few months of my life before Christ was in my life I found myself praying a prayer and with something like this and guys it's really kind of a strange story I prayed this prayer in a lot of really strange places the last few months of my life as I laid my head down at night in a lot of different places the last few months of my life in a lot of different places I could not get away from this prayer God was doing something sovereignly in my heart he was calling me and it was simply this God make me the Christian that you want me to be that was the prayer and I want to pray with you today I want to give you we've been giving people an opportunity every week if you're sitting there it isn't a fancy prayer it isn't fancy words like Paul said I'm not coming with some great beautiful eloquent speech it's simply the cry of your heart that I want to pray with you to give you some direction this morning just say this with me Lord Jesus fill my life with your Holy Spirit fill me with the strength to live for you make me the Christian that you've called me to be that I might experience the life that you designed for me predicament and your promises we live by faith in that season we're not relying upon our wits upon our ingenuity upon force or coercion and trying to make something happen God we're living by faith
