alright guys right here this is where my main HVAC runs come so my supply and return will come through here this will get boxed in and metaled I got plastic up there right now and then there'll be insulation on top of that obviously and then I'm also gonna put plastic and insulate on the side as well but I'm go ahead and put an up half inch plywood up just so that never tears and insulation drop down in there anything so just got to finish that up and then I'm ready to trim out all the walls and start and put up start putting up side steel so pretty exciting [Music] [Music] I'm gonna finish muster by finishing this wall I got the rest of my trim got my door so I'm just gonna finish this section off and go to the other part of the garage so we're gonna get this door installed just like previous videos I draw show doors that's just to hold the door in place so when I'm in the side leveling it and doing all that kind of good stuff it can't fall out accidentally so then go on the other side now and level it up shim it right and see you got a good reveal on this side I'm all level click reveal on the top and down the side so first things first if you got a level base start with your hinge side get that level and plumb shim it and screw it through the hinges and then once you get that done you can do the other side and after you do it a few times you get pretty decent at it [Music] now I'm going to start here in the back corner and the first thing I'm going to do is I'm going to trim out the bottom with some aluminum foil stock the only thing they had was ten inch so I just cut it in half with the saws on a metal blade and I just run it right along the bottom then when I fastened my trim up I have a nice finished clean look underneath it and then I can just run a bead of caulk along there and it seals it all all the water and stuff from getting on there so I just used my 18 gauge narrow crown stapler to put it up once I put my bottom trim up it'll hold that up there tight and then I can just run a bead a nice bead of caulk right along there gives it a nice finish and I'm able to seal off any water or anything from there if I decide to ever wash this so now I'm gonna set my base trim and run the steel on that back wall there [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right we're making some good progress hold on mo come around here then I'm just trimming out these windows these were originally meant for the inside of house but it's actually working out really good and then I will wrap these with aluminum a nice nice finish there when all my trims made for through here I just filled some expandable foam in around the windows to let that cure and then I'll be able to whip this side out quick in the morning and then I just got this area and right here to do alright we're coming down along here this wall and I've got to this point right here and this is for a water spigot on this end of the house and I like to put mine up high higher if I can and one of the main reasons is that when they're down at the ground you can hardly ever get a hose on them I got a hole drilled right here and there is a 2x6 wall dirt there so I'll have something solid to mount my faucet to and then I just got to connect it to here this is the spicket that I'm using I like these I can just i'm solder on a half inch piece of copper just to get it through here and then i'll change it over to pax and i'll always have access to this cuz all I'd have to do is pull off a piece of steel alright guys so I'm gonna solder piece of half-inch copper in here and you can probably do it with this in there but I just loosen this little nut and take this part out because that's got the little rubber seal in there and to keep it from getting damaged I just take it out so I'm gonna lightly clean this up put some flux on it and then solder it on there looks pretty good now I can measure and cut this off and then get it secured in place all right go ahead and cut it off you might be wondering why it's so high I like it up a little bit higher because then I can mount a bracket to hold my hose and I'm not fighting with the ground trying to ever get my hose hooked on it's always easily accessible it's up high and it just works out really really nice in my opinion so these cutters they'll cut and then they come with a built-in piece that you can get the burrs off I'm going to use stainless steel screws but I'm going to start a hole with the sheet metal screws it's just a little bit easier to do and then I'll put that put those in just gonna put a bead of silicone around there so when I put it on there I get a nice seal so this is now this is good and solid it's into a Gert so I shouldn't have any problems with it coming off now I can put this back on all right so eventually right here I'm not sure when but eventually I'm gonna put a tee here so I can put a spigot a water spigot inside the garage here I have a drain in the floor here so I'll eventually use this this kind of an area where I wash my vehicles or my four-wheeler or whatever else but for now I'm just gonna put a coupling on and the couplings I use are these Watts push connectors they work really well I've never had a problem with them Lincoln so that's what we're gonna do because they're easy to get off and so I'm just gonna put a coupling there and then a 90 right here we should be good to go there's a little piece that comes with it you push in each side of the pipe that kind of holds its form and then you take it pull up on the little coupling and push push it on and that's it it's got this little ring that helps you lock it so it can't come off and then if you ever need to pull that thing off you just pull that little ring clip off you can compress that and pull it off so nice thing about these as they swivel so you can get them kind of where you need them not that on their copper pipe I'll put a clamp right here to hold it in there and there's my coupling which I can eventually take off put a tee so I put a spigot out here and that's where it once is down into the floor and then pops up in the utility room [Music] all right so this piece is gonna present a real challenge mainly because that gap there's five feet and then I have a little notch out there it's got to go right around this window most of the way and it also has to go around that so I had to cut it just enough the bottom steel would clear to go to be able to drop in to the Jay trim instead of being able to slide it because I can't slide it around that beam so my next challenge is not bending this where it's gonna be really weak so we're gonna go ahead and try to get it up and not ruin it up we'll see how it goes doesn't look too bad that right up there isn't in as far as I'd like it but there was no way for me to get it more without just having to bend this and everything else so I think it looks pretty good [Music] [Music] all right finished up this section yesterday this is six foot wide eight foot tall and land with this I'll trim this out with aluminum stock and I'll put a roll-up door here eventually that'll roll up right there so today I worked on head to add some framing here on this wall I had to trim out the door the window all along the base I had to add some boards there trim this all out snut I am ready to put the metal on the last room in the garage so got a comfort as I got to work around this wall every piece I'm gonna have to cut the window on the door I got to cut my first piece there because of that's uh the in-floor heat for the storm shelter room that I added I can get behind that so just that wall on the first piece there it'll be really the only kind of goofy painting the bus stuff but we're gonna get rolling [Music] all right I've got quite a few questions on how I cut this steel so I'm gonna show you basically three options that you can use one can use just regular hand snips which there's still a lot of guys out there that do that pretty much on everything you can get this malko turbo shear that hooks up to any cordless drill works pretty nice and then there's Maketu nibbler which I used on this whole project so alright so the first cut I'm gonna make with just some snips and I'm gonna do a crosscut and you want to make sure that you're holding your cut party or steel off and you'll see why once I start so I'm just gonna start making my cut and with my left hand I'm gonna pull up on the steel [Music] you guys have all seen me use the nibbler throughout this project but tool that I've had for a while is this malko turbo shear and it works really good on these cuts [Music] so the nice thing about this tool is it just cuts it it doesn't leave any material behind so that's one nice thing about it it does obviously have its limitations if you get it too close to these ribs it's hard to make a rift cut but it will go over the ribs I mean I use this on some other metal jobs I've done in the past and it hooks any cordless drill so not a bad tool to have in the toolbox [Music] [Music] so a couple of questions that people ask one is why did I put plastic on the ceiling and there were because this is a pole barn building with a steel roof you got to have a vapor barrier on the ceiling and your walls so I hung plastic on the ceiling before my metal and then there will be blown in insulation above that as far as the wall goes I did spray foam and I have enough spray foam in there that that X is a stop it stops the wind and acts as a vapor barrier so the guy that spray foamed it said I didn't need it so we're gonna go ahead and try it out and I think I think we're gonna be really good here because the key to stopping condensation is stopping the air movement and with this closed-cell spray there's no wind coming through those walls so that is awesome and another question I got a few times is why would I steal my garage versus dry with drywall one is this is gonna double as a workspace for me until I'm able to build a building away from the house and that's just gonna be a matter of time and money so I'm gonna be in here a lot and I want the ability just to be able to spray this down I could be welding in here all kinds of stuff on this end of the garage so I just I like the steel for the fact that it's just really durable it's bright this is bright white steel so this whole shops gonna be super bright and I will go over the electric and the lights that I installed the company I use is out of Texas these are american-made LED lights so I'll share that with you and we get to it should be able to finish roughing in all the electric in the garage that I'm gonna do for now this weekend but I appreciate you guys watching I'm gonna get after these garage doors tomorrow so I will share that with you as soon as I get one done but thanks for watching and we'll catch you on the next video
