Garage Door Closes Too Far | Easy Fix By Programming The Travel Adjustment

hey what's up you guys it's scott with everyday home repairs and today i'm going to quickly show you how to set the up and down position of your garage door opener very quick and easy process and this will work for many chamberlain lift master and even craftsman series garage door openers what you want to look for is off the antenna side just open your light cover and then you'll look for this type of setup with the yellow learn button and then these up down arrow and set button and that is the process we're going to go through if on your garage door opener you have more like set screws like these i have a different video for that so you can click on this video and i'll show you how to set the up and down position for that type of garage door opener which is a little different they're set screws opposed to these momentary switches so let's jump in and fix your problem whether there's a gap at the bottom of your garage opener or like this one your garage door opener is going down too far and actually bowing the rail or slacking your belt on one side and then really tensioning the belt on the other which is not desirable very easy to adjust and i'll show you in just a couple minutes alright getting it started you'll just press the center green button until you see the top arrow flashing then you'll press and hold until the garage door opener gets to the full up position i would let go quite a ways before your desired position and just make small adjustments until you get to the top position where the garage door is really not going to give you any more clearance and you're not going to hit the bolt which is at the end of the travel then you press the green button to lock in your up position and progress to now setting your down position same thing hold until you get close to the bottom and then you'll make small adjustments on this one until you can't see any more light coming from the bottom of the seal this is assuming you have a good seal and that does have some cushion that will compress down now once you press the green button you'll see the top arrow flashing again all you have to do is press and release that what we're going to do is go through a full cycle so it's going to go to the up position that you set and that checks out and then automatically goes to the down you press it again and that's gonna run through the cycle to confirm the down position and that's all there is to it a really easy process and shameless is a good job to make it pretty much foolproof if you have any questions or different scenarios that didn't match up to what i did jump down in the comments and let me know i'll give my two cents and see if i can help you through your problem also before you take off don't forget to subscribe to the channel as we have weekly videos like this coming out to help you with your repairs around the home and we'll see you on the next one take care
