resale and video game collection regrets thanks Derek talking to you with another vlog hey I think every collector has had moments that they have sold stuff maybe that was a moment that galvanized you into becoming a collector in that you sold stuff that you had as a child as a teenager you thought I don't care about this anymore and then you were like wait I actually do care about it I wish I hadn't sold that stuff and then you're like I'm never selling stuff ever again or if I am it's gonna be very specific stuff I think in terms of regrets things you sold and things you spend too much money on I think those two are like maybe separate ideas but we're gonna smoosh them all together I've got a handful here I actually don't have as many as you might think it's because I kind of once bitten twice shy I learned my lesson and maybe you'll have a better understanding now of my collection and how I my brain my collecting brain when I show you I tell a couple stories but a couple things I own quake 2 though anyway here we go first up Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo this is not Kron sugar for the Super Nintendo is Kron sugar for the DES I actually don't have my copy of Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo with me and you'll understand why so back in like I want to say like 2000 when I was in high school discovering rediscovering games that I wanted to own and eBay my friends died before school with literally in the Hotlanta library before class started to go on eBay in his look at games to see what prices were one game that was always really expensive was Chrono Trigger it's one of the well celebrate and most popular and what would become re-released Super Nintendo games of all time but at the time it was only on Super Nintendo and I just wanted to own it I wasn't happy with emulation I guess some more backstory my brother had a copy of Chrono Trigger for the Super Nintendo she didn't like that game and he sold it but dummy and I think he's watching too didn't sell the box for Chrono Trigger so for like I don't know like five six years you know in between that game coming up me buying getting on eBay I just had the Chrono Trigger box and the maps don't think I have the instruction book so I just wanted to get a loose so at least getting loose I thought I could get it cheaper I couldn't I found a crown sugar auction that was Lokhande cheap so I put in an auction and I watched and someone started like auctioning back when after fifty bucks went up to sixty bucks up to 70 bucks I'm in high school yo I don't remind have had a summer job that's my than before after I started having a summer job I forget the auction went to 80 and change he was down to a couple minutes and had to make that decision and you know high school Derick was like no I'm gonna get that Crone trigger and I remember almost immediately regretting it but still it came a couple weeks later I was so excited I put it in and I was I turned it on it didn't work right away and I had to kind of clean it blow on it and all that stuff and then uh I got to work and went yeah they bumped the table and it turned off I was like huh oh yeah so the car is actually kind of a shady cart it's a cart that maybe it can be repaired now so if to spare me in the comments this is not the whole point of the story I'm just saying that I bought the car it's common shitty shape I wanted to own this game and for a while it was only Super Nintendo and then months later after spending a lot of money they announced feds coming to PlayStation and then several years even later after that I saw for DES I think it was a decent price so I have the game three times now I can guarantee you these two these two countries combined are not as much as I spent on that cart in Super Nintendo that doesn't even work that well so my car is sitting sitting in storage in Anchorage Alaska right now with the box and I don't think well I almost haven't bought a game that much since until boy I regret this one it might actually be the worst game I've ever finished that is Clocktower to the struggle within I paid I want to say it's something like 80 plus dollars for this game for a short time I actually was getting out of collecting and Mafra me collecting was going to thrift stores doing the comic book shops seeing what comes in my net seeing what I could scoop up for good for cheap at a certain point I've been doing that for so many years I was like I'm kind of sick but doing some contracting things for a while and eventually my client hired me so I had like a pretty good job pretty good income I hadn't decided that I was going to move to Seattle quite yet so I wasn't doing too whole almost do a whole lot with my say yeah yes I wasn't saving any money so I had a lot of extra money what do you do you go on eBay basically I found this on eBay and it was at the time fantastic condition then I was like a Buy It Now price paid 80 bucks for it and here's the thing is I bought it and then that seller was like wait are you Derrick Alexander the happy cat the time I was happy video game nerd I was just like yeah it was like it's like oh cool so maybe that person is watching still have your copy of and I don't blame that person listen if you can take a game like clock tower to and find some idiot survive for 80 bucks I don't know man like I don't think it's so wrong so I don't bugger eyes that person I did make some videos for I've played all the way through it is just rotten it is so terrible it has some of the worst gameplay design choices I've ever seen for the there is a three part video and also some other people have reviewed it too and I've watched I watched some people's reviews of clock tower to nitro rad I warned you I saw you on Twitter I was like don't do it man and I watched the video and I was like yep yep that's about right yeah I can't believe I paid I spent that much money on it it gets worse I actually have two copies of this game this version of the game I bought several years ago again we're doing shout out to video city Anchorage Anchorage Alaska represents so I bought this for $5 as you can see on here it looks like it has been keyed to like literally it looks like someone played this game what no no I just like took a knife to it and I now understand why so I've actually owned a copy of plots our two cents like 2002 I don't know but I was never able to play it I guess I've never tried to get it resurfaced but I guess I don't need to now because I have also it's not really a clock tower game it's called clock tower 2 but it wasn't it's I don't want to get into it don't buy that game there's some videos on YouTube that you instead next that stuff a regret buying could change gears now stuff ever Brett selling I think everybody had that moment in their childhood with her like no I'm too grown for video games I'm I don't care about video games anymore so lot of stuff Mega Man 5 for the game boy here is a copy that I had to buy again I think I did pay a decent amount for I think I found it I want to say under 50 bucks follow the Game Boy Mega Man games this is probably the best one and I used to have a complete copy of this if I bought brand-new and I sold it so alright folks at that time you got to remember this is before Pokemon came out and Pokemon saved the game there was a moment there where like game it was just kind of like done n64 was coming soon Saturn had hit the market PlayStation was here it was like just time to move on I think I sold all my gameboy stuff my friend Ryan shout out to Ryan who I haven't talked to since high school but like he and I were still cool but whatever I sold him all my gameboy stuff I think I also had blaster master boy and f1 racer with the multi-tab cable I had a bunch of stuff and I sold it all to him for like I don't know a hundred bucks 200 bucks or something like that but the really the biggest one was Mega Man 5 because honestly like a complete Mega Man 5 is worth a lot of money and it took some doing to get this copy I did end up buying it if I hadn't sold it would have saved myself some money I don't know what a hell he spent that money on but his candy I don't even know I only have a cart now have I do have all five of the Game Boy Mega Man's the only cartridge so yep you make mistakes you learn from them I also wanted to sell all my Nintendo games which I think after I sold my Game Boy stuff or I forget the order of this book basically I almost sold my Game Boy collection and my Nintendo collection to my friend Ryan but Ryan you know so I told my friend Ryan hey I'm gonna sell all my Nintendo stuff and that was not as big of a collection I have now he was like awesome I can't give you I can't give you a money but I'll give you jewelry that's like alright what he's like it's a little pawn shop and sell it okay I don't sure what and then i my memories he came to school yeah the next day he comes to school and I go to recess and he like either has like he's dad's like Rolex or like like a wedding band like a chain that was like their parents like wedding band he stole them from his like his parents jewelry box and he was like I'll take your Nintendo games for this and thank God Ryan was an idiot and I was just like no no no I'm not gonna do that in fact I probably shouldn't sell any of my stuff ever again I'm glad that I didn't so thank you for being an idiot Ryan but anyway alright next um these games are uh things I regret buying brand-new really there were games I regret a pre-ordering and ever since this moment ever since these games I very seldom ever pre-ordered ever again it's still don't these games aren't terrible they're not awful but I think everyone has those everyone's had that game that you pre-ordered waiting for super excited you got he took a homie play then you're like oh oh they look at the reviews and all the reviews of like yeah it's yeah one of them was castlevania lament of innocence I bought this brand-new I was a huge Castlevania fan I love Cynthia the night and I grew up playing Dracula's curse and Castlevania forum on Nintendo in Super Nintendo and so I never liked and I know this defenders out there for it but personally never left Castlevania 64 that game does some stuff I never thought that it was actually very good I think to some people it is I don't know I feel like more and more I hear and talk to people that'll like cursory 64 was not bad I don't know man do we play the same game so it was like okay this is the symptom you tonight people making a 3d it's gonna be good and I don't think the game like this and curse of darkness are necessarily like terrible games but they weren't I think what I wanted and I would later find out that like it's because EAGA he was given Game Boy Advance and des budgets and then he has to make a ps2 game and that's why the dungeons in this game look like they were made on like the time splitters map minute the combats good remember the music being alright just cuz it wasn't what I was expecting at the time doesn't necessarily mean it's bad however if I had to read the reviews beforehand and just waited I probably would have been like oh that doesn't sound like for me but I rent it first and then I wouldn't have plugged in like 50 60 bucks whatever it was that the Babbage's that the game stopped at the time so I guess you could say I was just an innocent boy and I lament this decision I kind of regret pre-ordering this and buying this brand-new but not quite as much as I regret the next one the Silent Hill for the room because I was duped into also getting the strategy guide I was an enormous Silent Hill fan I was there for Silent Hill 1 in Silent Hill 2 and I bought seven till three on day one as well they might still do this I don't even know anymore but the game stopped or the Babbage's of the software said row wherever you've got your games it was like 10 bucks and you can pre-order a game you know right now since buying it will give you 20% off the strategy guy - you're gonna want to strategy guide right so it is yeah or or actually was like all I want to know how to get all the endings yeah yeah I definitely what strategy guy one thing that's actually kind of cool those I did get the limited edition soundtrack with that and that was still inaccurate Toriyama sir Akira Yamaoka joint so the music is good this games got some like solid moments like the the giant head yo that big-ass head good good the two-headed orphan hand thingy whoever did the animation for the two-headed baby thing that are amazing the block animation is really scary you're like God you start blasting it like to kill it immediately I think for as much as I don't like this game it's about the potential because the idea of like the first-person stuff you trapped in the room are you trying to get out that is just so like fascinating and engrossing and really good like the game starts so strong it's just I've tried multiple times to play this game and beat it and I just I just it just every single time like maybe it gets good maybe it doesn't I've watched Let's Plays and I've seen people break down the story of Silent Hill 4 and they don't have a good argument for it I watched a video someone try to break the story down and these people that are really good it's the same child that are really huge breakdown on all of the technical issues with the HD collection I think they also did a video on like salad Hill floor I'll put a link to that video in the description I don't know what they are off the top of my head just like the pretense of that video was all right guys so no one still has any idea what the hell happened inside of four and I started being like really this like I don't know I still think the Silent Hill 3 was a moment look looking back on sun'll 3 is kind of moment where like the real cohesion of what made silent hill's 1 & 2 just so uniformly fantastic was really starved was really missing in Sanyal 3 i guess for what it's worth though this is the last like team silent game before you know they start of farming them out to other people so it was only downhill from there but nothing can take away from Silent Hill 2 being a friggin masterpiece and also just want to say oh yeah but you know what he know it got spare free released versions the HD versions has silent hill's 2 & 3 do not have 4 because no one really like cared about four maybe it also spared one and Sally Hill one holds up better than you probably think oh I'll put that out there if you sound hill fan we all love - we all love most most love 3 we can argue about 4 but I think again y'all sleep it on one sound Hill one is still like epic Grace plays Silent Hill 1 like 2 years ago a year ago for the first time and like you were it was getting you all the goo all the all the good gags all the good spooky like it's gonna share to me when I first played it in high school you as an adult like it was gettin you still yeah someone before has his moments but like the pedigree that I had to follow I really regret getting it day one and I'm reckon I never even used the guy this is an odd resale regret my 32x collection I regret selling doom doom was the reason why I won a 32x I had a Genesis I had a Sega CD and I was like oh man if I just had Doom I would have everything I needed I played this game to absolute death I don't know I've ever told the story on one of the punching weights so this is extremely compromised port in this game it doesn't even have all of the maps from the first two episodes irony have anything from inferno I was convinced that you had to play the game on the hardest difficulty level and if you did it so if you alright wait back up this game has a level select however there is one level you cannot select from said level selecting the only way to get to that I believe was you had to start a brand new game play all the way to the end without dying and then you would get like one of the special levels I forgive it as call but I'm putting the footage up here right now I was convinced if there was more in this game if you could beat the game on nightmare without dying normally nightmare when you killed kill dudes not only do dudes shoot really fast and move really fast they also respawn after like a minute the case for this one you can't actually beat this game on nightmare or play it like he could've ultraviolence but all the enemies do in fact move really fast shoot really fast and hit really hard so I was never able to beat 32x doom on nightmare all the way to the end without dying but I was convinced that was how you unlocked like the tower Babel or the third episode it was not that was not the case how long I tried to do it but like maybe I was trying but if I wasn't like okay let's say I played the game for two hours and I died I Kong the tenth level on nightmare you'd be like darn oh I guess I'll just play an ultra violence and then I'll just restart the game and play it again like this is this is like I'm a type of guy that like honestly when I play a game if I feel like I've unlocked everything or like I've done enough like I'm done I'll move on but doom is maybe the only game that it's like I just wanted to play it same levels over and over and over again right yeah and I getting getting lost on like the story about why I like this game because I forget if I've ever really explain it to people why this gave me so much to me but why regret selling it is so I think I finally got either a PC or a Playstation or I was like I don't care about games anymore I'm gonna sell them for money and I don't know it's gonna do with it I don't really regret you know Mortal Kombat's who were MBA jam or Doc carnage heart that chrome hounds what the hell was that game called but I wish I would have held on the doom but it might have had something to do with the fact that I kind of replaced this dude there was another doom like Doom is probably the game in my life I have played the most like across this version the PC version numerous times I have played this game it's the game that I had played the most in my life but probably the version I played most of my life is the PlayStation version this is probably be the single game I played the most in my life I'll never bring this up because I actually bought this and for a hot minute was going to sell it back to the Babbage's and the reason why I wanted to sell it back is actually the reason why one of the reasons why I'm glad that I didn't because the inside of the instruction book has some very very generous passwords oh oh and have a second copy too so Gracie go get a link cable okay get a link cable in a second place agent so we can play multiplayer I think everybody remembers like the facts of instruction books all had like oh here's your notes take notes and stuff and that worked best for games that had passwords whoever owned it before like went bonkers and added an extra paste scotch tape to it the cover fell out probably to make room for the scotch tape so it's not a super good condition but you know I don't really care about that sometimes just so because really the best thing you do is like just to pick a level that I wanted to play and dwarf I wanted to do the level select so I never had to go online I always had the level select sheet if I wanted to go to straight to Club doom and play Club doom Oh Anna says codes for ultimate doom enjoy and it has won 1 through 13 and then it has more codes on the back first there's very nice handwriting so I don't know if anybody from Anchorage Alaska is watching these videos in circa 1996 97 you sold a long box copy of doom I still have it and I appreciate it man however I don't appreciate apparently what I didn't appreciate was this passwords dumb I think because I was gonna sell it back I wanted to I wanted to pay it forward to let people know like hey next person who buys this copy of doom don't bother with this password it's dumb oh yeah yeah exactly you know what you got pay it forward that's about these these are all the big ones I've got of course I have lots but these are the big ones everybody has these stories hopefully that's probably why you clicked on this video because you like oh man I gave stuff away too and I sold stuff and I bought some game for too much so I'm sure we all have these stories so man was talked about in the comments let's all just kind of like commiserate and have a little pity party share
