I couldn't believe it when Josh didn't sacrifice his Bloodghast to High Market to ping Emrakul for the last 1 point of damage to kill it! As soon as I saw Emrakul hit and it showed it blocking a 12/12 I thought, "hahaha surely Josh will now finish it off with Judith." When Vinny passed and it didn't happen I almost cried.
I get that these take a lot of time to create, I just wish they played more than 1 game and chose the best one. It is frustrating to wait a month for this big build up only to have the game be so...meh.
That game was kinda disappointing. The Lavinia deck wasnt the strongest deck as some people said, but it benefited a LOT from DJ's missplays and JLK mana screw. And I don't like how Lavinia was irrelevant for the deck in general. But seeing DJ's missplays was the most torturing thing to me.
Got real disappointed real fast
Sad nobody played Vannifar, I wanted to see some pod shenanigans.
they are gonna catch a lot of flak for this episode.
Honestly, Jimmy's deck was super good. Way to good compared to what the rest of the table showed - maybe except the Gruul Monsters deck.
I'd say that Zegana would most likely be a better pick. And honestly, they should've built around the theme of the guilds, it would make for a better game.
Man this game was awful in my opinion. If I can vent and be critical (or negative if you want to look at it that way) I would like to share a few opinions on this game, as which while I watching I often went "wait what?" and "why?"
Jimmy's deck is clearly the best at the table, best commander, with a land tax on board, but DJ went first so theres two reasons for attacks on them, and JLK attacks...Vinny? The deck with 0 interaction and huge creatures? Which is a huge problem in of itself. Why is he playing ONLY creatures, just cause his commander says he cant cast noncreatue spells. HES THE ONLY GREEN PLAYER AT THE TABLE. I digress.
Jimmy plays Mana Crypt and passes...because reasons? Then the next turn takes 3 for it. Good thing nobody attacked him so that misplay didn't matter and went unpunished. He literally played 0 creatures for the first four turns. Jimmy finally gets attacked by DJ after Tamiyo hits the board. Then DJ continues to ignore Tamiyo and Tymna never attacks...why?
DJ kills the Hydra instead of just blocking...why not save it for the Bridge? Or perhaps Vinny shouldn't have played politics with the person who was winning the game, and then slapped down a planar bridge right after that. He should've let Tamiyo tap the Hydra in the first place. Or ya know...if he played interaction (I DIGRESS).
JLK is mana screwed and discards Mana Crypt (okay). I suppose at this point it didn't matter because Jimmy had the game on lock but still.
Pretty obvious if you don't get attacked, don't get punished for misplays or for greedy plays (Ie. playing a 6 mana artifact that does nothing when it comes in), and none of your cards get destroyed, yeah you win lmao go figure.
They themselves have criticized extra turns as something magic players should never do in commander, then turn-around and make this episodeβs climax about extra turns? Sorry for the circle jerking about extra turns, but itβs not fun to play against, and not fun to watch. It felt like an empty episode.
