Galveston Fishing Pier, Trying Something New

[Music] [Applause] [Music] hello everyone welcome to MBL our fishing my name is Mark and I'm a retired marine turn full time fishing youtuber and I want to thank each and every one of y'all for helping to make my dream become a reality by clicking on the video and viewing right in there alright we're here with Andrew Martinez of mtz custom fishing rods and it looks like he's putting on a what is that like an epoxy jig or a slab spoon something of that sort it's a Ledge it's a lead Jim and grams 7 grams all right so that's just to catch our bait huh yeah and check this out everyone look at the setups that andrew has got he's got all custom rods right here and these things are pretty stout what what test pound are these leaders Andrew oh my god and what's your main line this ones here's 340 forty forty okay so all forty pound and then 300-pound leaders so to say I have a hundred pound top shot on this one but leaders all the leaders are gonna be using today are gonna be three hundred pounds okay and the bait but what kind of bait are we going out Sandra Sandra okay so that's the bait of choice okay so what have you catch croaker can you use croaker as bait yes you can good you can't use speckle trout not because that's a game fish right okay so sanchow what about whiting fly teams good - whiting is good okay but sant rod is the preferred you catch shad out here on on that oh okay and what's our target for tonight Boris all right being that it's October the bull red run all right so I am ready let me get my rod ready with a similar style spoon and hopefully we're going to be able to hook into something now I normally don't come out here and fish Thank You Andrea I don't come out here and fish the pier this is actually my first time doing this style of fishing so I brought a jetty rod Azumi we'll see if this guy is gonna be up to the task alright folks here we go to this light gonna vertical jig see if we can get some bait there's needlefish what's new those guys are a nuisance at the jetty themselves and - like way too easy we already got something right there a little sand trout that was super easy bro you make your own leaders Andrew yes okay what size is that like a 12 this is 12 so whether they're alive or not doesn't even matter no because I'm actually gonna be cutting half of them okay I'm gonna be cutting them across here getting a nice blood trail okay and here we go he's gonna launch that fella and just like that now you just sit and wait huh you have it on spree spooled yeah a clicker or something like that clicker okay and then you're gonna try to bury it in okay caches so it's not gonna take your ride if bytes right so the attention is like super loose there we go there's like way too easy little fella got off the lucky day buddy there we just got tapped these guys are playing cat and mouse with me all right not that time buddy you got to be faster than that mr. sand trout just too big too small perfect size alright y'all heard it perfect size perfect hook sets whoo right there at the bottom of the mouth and he just spit up his dinner shrimp you glutton all right brother I'm not even gonna try to cast it because I know I'll birdnest your your reel and we got him some pretty quick work there you go let this fella go right here and then andrew is just basically gonna launch them all what I was telling him was I'm probably gonna bird nest his his reels if I try to cast them I've got to at least get a few practice shots when nobody's looking because I don't want to be laughed at I got a pretty tender heart and I can't take it you got you a sandy how's it gone what's up brother how you doing have you been doing good alright yeah I've seen better days been getting skunked like my fair share of skunks like two in a row now so hopefully tonight that changes first time fishing on this pier yeah that's what I heard we saw a couple of my size Reds pulled in over there at the beginning of the pier but everybody that was walking out said that it was a pretty slow night they're bragging on the sharks that they lost is a good turds actually a little shark huh yeah yeah and it looks like a shark huh nice well we now here playing by ourselves that's a good thing oh wait that was alive huh yeah that did was alive we got had people we're over here waiting patiently and we had a fish just chomp the belly from our fish alright so what we got going on here is andrew has got this rod with a massive weight launched out there and it's just wedged inside the sand and what we are about to do is put on like a slide so this fish is gonna take a slide for life I'm gonna go down there and he's alive and it's being directed by this line right here so it takes two setups you got a cast one out there which is gonna be the let's call it the slide for life and the other one is what's actually holding the bait and when there's enough tension and the fish bites it and takes off then it releases from the slide so hopefully that made sense if it didn't I'm sorry alright there we go and our fish is gonna take a little ride Andrews just slowly thumbing that and then we're gonna pick this rod up all right you want me to grab this one and just thumb it yep um it alright and that's it now we're just going to wait and hopefully we're gonna bamboozle the freaking fish well everyone that is it I'm licking my wounds and walking away from the pier with a big fat skunk man that is three in a row something's got to happen or else I'm gonna have to quit my day job it's been tough fishing here lately the skunk at the jetty skunked here at the pier I'm trying to think of what other skunks I've racked up I got them hiding all over the place I tell you what so normally I would say if you enjoyed the video then please click that thumbs up button but I'm not gonna do that if you feel sorry for me then please click that thumbs up button alright until next time tight lines y'all [Music]
