[Music] so [Music] [Music] fished for about 45 minutes and flooded grass push polling seeing what we could find and all the flooded stuff water is exceptionally high just got to keep scanning hoping that we do see the wake of a redfish or a blow up either or would be cool one of the hardest things to do is learn the difference between seeing the wake of a redfish or are you only seeing mullet kind of push through the area because when i first started fishing after retiring from the marine corps coming back home i swore left and right what i was seeing was reds i'm like man the fish are there but i can't get them to bite and next thing you know a couple years of experience kind of prepared me for it and being able to identify what was reds and mullet mullet will have a tendency if they're thick in an area they have a tendency to brush up against your fission line and when that happens it spooks them so they do a solid tail thrust and it feels like a bite so you swear up and down that it's a redfish but in all actuality it's not it's nothing more than a mullet pushing through that area or you're casting into a very thick school of bait so yeah time on the water will definitely let you identify what you're seeing when you're out here kind of helps you to continue pushing on or staying in an area where it's just nothing but bait fish here let's stand up really quick and see if we can find anything in these little back patches of grass all of this forms like a waterway that you can scoot in and out of let's see if this water break is going to be able to provide something successfully drifted over the deepest portion of this little entryway we got some clean water too casting straight into that wind swimming this as slow as i possibly can to get it down there with the five foot depth got him boy oh boy i let that drop too nice red nice red oh man this fella was he was just hanging out in the bottom that's it doing what they do that's a gorgeous little redfish right there with that skelly swim hanging out of his mouth tap and then whacked it nice the grind is definitely real y'all that's a skinny guy he's got a little parasite right there get that off of him kind of help him out almost a gorgeous blue tail but he doesn't get no love keep eating them shrimp buddy it's been a tough one it has been a very tough one grinding it out three hours now and the winds have definitely kicked up so before the conditions get super bad let's see if we can haul in another fella fix this little spiked root beer right here before we go any further welcome to mdlr fishing thank you so much for tagging along on today's adventure today's video is sponsored by catch co we're going to be using their branded lures this right here is the salt native skelly swim and the spike root beer color we've got it paired up to an owner twist lock swim hook in the 4 ought size with a 3 16 ounce weight down there at the belly if you're interested in these lures you can check them out by going to the shop carl's website it's going to be linked in my video description down below and you'll be able to check out these guys right here little variety pack that i put together to conserve on space but down there at the bottom is the color that we're using today in the middle is the rusty penny and then on top is that glitter bomb and here's a quick look at the hooks that we're using as well so the differences in those colors it just depends on what the water clarity is like and that's how i decide to fish them right now we have very murky stuff so we're going with the darker profile go over here fish the entrance to the back lake oh just missed them just missed him killed a motor whatever it was is not there anymore that's tough because on a a day whenever you're having to grind it out then bites are few and far between so you got to make it count whenever it does happen got to be ready for it be ready for that next one but as i was saying we're going to make our way down towards the entrance to the back lake fish the mouth of it really fast push through a little bit of the back lake i'm not actually gonna fish the grass line of it because i'm running out of time but we'll fish the mouth and then there's a secondary entrance that we can push out through and if we get lucky get something in that ditch that also helps it to get fed with a lot of water the first ditch provided us with a few bites but nothing significant managed to land a tiny little speckled trout wasn't recording i thought i was but uh turns out that i wasn't nothing spectacular though so that's a an easy one to stomach rolling into the back lake and i have not seen anything nothing that looks promising at all one and a half foot deep no bait going airborne no blow ups no birds working the bank line there we go yes just played the numbers y'all oh that is a donkey get over here son you may as well give up you are done got this fella working oh my gosh okay let's get the net not take any chances i want to land a donkey today get over here there we go that is a proper redfish and i just knew it was going to be a matter of time before actually landing one of these guys picking the high probability areas and we get it done gorgeous redfish spectacular catch look at that y'all just a mouth full of skelly swim son you got caught lucky i'm not in a uh fish taco type of mood because oh wow so i drove that hook home look at that but somehow it came out you can see penetrated right there at the bottom of the mouth right here i don't know what that is right there but the hook just completely fell out so thank goodness we had that tension time to release our little friend there we go buddy get that water going through them gills and then as soon as he's ready he's going to let us know with one heck of a tilt just like that tail thrust oh my gosh perseverance it's a great trait to have patience perseverance and uh eventually you'll put your lure right in front of one of their faces and once it all comes together to the victor go the spoils so we're going to continue on to the secondary mouth that feeds this back lake and we'll thoroughly fan cast that area as well hopefully we come up with another donkey the setup that we're using today y'all is an old 18 outfitters area seven foot rod ultra light power with a moderate fast action tip and our fishing reel is a shimano slx dc it's spooled with 10 pound power probe braid and a rather stout leader to be able to muscle these guys in well that bait is just having one heck of a field day look at that right out there chances are it's just gonna be mullet but then if it's reds we'll try to take advantage of it i don't know if the kayaks is going to be able to get in there at least with the drive down 1.3 feet deep we need a good 10 inches in order for the trolling motor to continue operating out here all right that should be good what kind of drift fan cast a spot that i just saw a lot of disturbance on the surface gosh almighty god lucky spotlock holy cow thank goodness i like glanced over that way because it was nothing but reds oh that is donkey number two in the back lake of all places i've never truly caught fish in this back lake i guess all it took was it needing to be flooded oh my gosh that dude let's get the gnat i'm done playing buddy i thought he was going to go in the trolling motor for real there we go donkey number two such a gorgeous looking redfish this dude is massive too this guy is big right there that is a mid slot redfish everyone look at that has a good hook set all right buddy we're gonna take a photo really fast and then get you back inside that water it's time to get this fella back in the water take that hook out this hook was not gonna let go man goodness gracious here we are another last look we'll see you later i do believe we have come to the very end of this back lake i'm gonna drop a a waypoint just to show myself how far on google maps i came back here or how far i was able to come back here and we're gonna make haste and uh hurry up and get out of here because i i think that storm cloud that was supposed to get us 50 chance thunderstorms i i think it's it's right on the horizon that's going to do it for the day ladies and gentlemen we made it back to the launch we put in some miles as well trying to track down these fish that we're willing to bite i want to thank catch co for sponsoring today's video for y'all that are interested in checking out the lures that we were using definitely click that link down below in my video description that's going to take you to the shop carl's website to where you can do a little bit of reading and if you decide to make a purchase consider becoming a member so that you can take advantage of up to 30 savings on your lures tackle gear they've got quite a bit of things going on over there and uh yeah that is gonna do it thank you so much for tagging along on my adventure because of y'all i get to do everything that i do out here and uh i'm just very grateful for each and every one of y'all until next time tight lines y'all [Music] [Music]
