Day 8 on the road to Juan Francisco Estrada vs Roman Gonzalez 2, A.K.A "The Wet Dream Rematch". 2 months after Gonzalez's trip to Mexico and knocking out Juan Kantun, Estrada would return to the ring following a 9 month layoff after the Milan Melinda fight. After 2 back-to-back fights in Macao, China, Estrada would have a homecoming bout in Puerto Penasco, Sonora, Mexico, defending his unified WBA/WBO Flyweight titles against another Filipino opponent: Richie Merpranum. Coming into this fight, Merpranum had plenty of experience against top Mexican fighters at Flyweight. He had fought Julio Cesar Miranda in 2010 for the then vacant WBO Flyweight title, and also had a duology with Hernan "Tyson" Marquez, going 1-1 against him. Coincidentally, two years after his fight with Estrada, Merpanum would receive another title shot against the then WBC Super Flyweight champ, Carlos Cuadras. We'll talk more about him later on down the road.
