[Applause] tell about the telephone call to your aunt the old lord because you're concerned about your mother turn them cameras off boys i called my aunt back this is my mother's sister she's 86. she left where she starts talking on the voicemail before the beep so the message i get yeah call me back kevin click so um so i called her back and i said aunt chris and i speak very deliberately aunt chris christine's her name this is kevin yahoo this is kevin i'm calling you back from yesterday what do you want well i'm calling you back from yesterday well who is it it's kevin oh well i thought you said ken and he's been dead for two years so bill and russ were getting my end of the conversation they were sitting up there just laughing you know she said i thought you were a salesman called well i just turned 50 in march and uh and sherry and i were flying out on vacation for my birthday and and there's a song my teammate brad did it's called when you were old talking about when you're old and pale and got a gentle hand is all you want i started crying cause i'm thinking i'm old you know here i am and uh i remember when i met sherry michael english was there that night and he fixed my hair for me appreciate that dwayne burke let me borrow your suit and i remember i got a signed picture by sherry and hung it in there michael and i shared a room together on a bus and i hung that picture and i never forget michael looked at me and said man you might as well forget it she's out of your league dude and the ironing in that she still [Laughter] [Applause] the cool thing about it is i got michael to sing at our wedding so that was cool so michael english sang at your worst he sure did and he's the one that told me she's out of my league and you're 50. i'm 50 and got a four-year-old yeah match your eyes and you'll be 70 and that four-year-old will be 24. you know it's good math bill right in there buddy just that quick nothing gets by you does it that's great buddy it's good to have you back in the family you kind of strayed out there in the wilderness for a while but it's good to be back in the fall i'm glad to be back i felt real good the last this last year to be back out here and making music with great talent like kevin and gordon being part of the band a little bit you know and we have a great time but uh this is a this is a great family to be on the road with and so i'm grateful for that i'm grateful for my family too for my wife of 27 years and two daughters and they're becoming a beautiful daughter beautiful well thank you and they're becoming women you know watching that it's been a great time of life to see them blossom so i'm a grateful man and holding my mother's hand and on a given day she still remembers me but sometimes she's not too sure who the that is holding her hand but but just still glad that uh when we take rise together the song that she remembers is thank you lord for saving my soul she sings that song and we sing together and if i'm really thinking about it i bring george beverly shea and stick him in the in the cassette or in the cd player and he sings all the ones she remembers kevin you're having some interesting times today with your mom my mom is going in a nursing home as we speak this hour even and she fell last week and so this is a day we knew was coming she's parkinson's patient for 12 years and sherry shares those same parkinson's issues with her mom and so it's difficult if we had a better option we'd take it but we just uh we take what we got and we trust and uh and i'm thankful for every minute i have with her talked her on the phone right before this dinner and uh and i'm i'm thankful for that family i'm thankful for my my wife my beautiful daughters and i'm thankful for all of you and in your own ways you have taught me uh every one of you claude has given me advice from time to time and occasionally i've taken it and uh bill's always got a funny story or a joke and russ has been there in my lowest parts of my life and uh i remember when we were struggling financially jeff and sherry were there for us every one of you i could say that about and there's not a more thankful guy here today than me
