musicians what a song hallelujah thank you Jesus [Music] the interpretation please give it to us now praise God praise God amen praise God that's what we're doing trusting him I want to pick up where we left off a few weeks ago the last time I ministered I went through just the introduction and we're going to pick up where we left off Matthew chapter 14 Matthew chapter 14 beginning in verse 22 Matthew 14 beginning in verse 22 straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship and to go before him and to the other side while he sent the multitudes away and when he had sent the multitudes away he went up into a mountain apart to pray and when the evening was calm he was there alone but the ship was now in the midst of the sea tossed with waves for the wind was contrary and in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them walking on the sea and when the disciples saw him walking on the sea they were troubled saying it is a spirit and they cried out for fear but straightway Jesus spoke unto them saying be of good cheer it is I be not afraid and I want to use for a subject once again preaching a few moments your storm will not last forever I know it may seem that you may be in a storm right now but trust me it will not last forever because Jesus is still walking on the water oh I wish somebody would get that this morning your storm will not last forever would you bow your heads please Heavenly Father we come before you in the name of Jesus Christ but we thank you for your amazing grace we thank you that you're still looking beyond our faults and seeing our need we pray for your anointing today the Lord we cannot do without your leading your guidance your anointing knowing our ears to hear what you would have us to say and we ask it all in the name of Jesus amen and amen this 14th chapter begins on a sad note it begins with the death the beheading of John the Baptist John the Baptist the forerunner of Jesus Christ thrown into prison by Herod the Tetrarch his father was the one who murdered all of the male babies when it was the time of the birth of Christ John the Baptist took umbrage with his marriage to Herodias which was in fact Herod's brother's ex-wife and Herod did not like it too much threw him in prison Herodias her daughter came and danced before Herod and you know the story it pleased him and he said we'll give you any thing that you desire up to half of my kingdom and instructed by her wicked wicked mother she requested the head of John the Baptist on a platter when word got back to Jesus the heartbreak the hurt he could have stopped it but it wasn't the will of God for him to stop it and Jesus had a desire to remove himself and to seek God to pray to be alone but during this time of Jesus's earthly ministry no matter where he would go the crowds would begin to encompass him and what began maybe as a small gathering turned into thousands of people as they wanted to hear the words of Jesus Christ now I want you to stop and think when you read in this 14th chapter right after the death of John the Baptist Jesus wanted to be alone to pray but yet the scripture says when the masses came that he had compassion on them and he healed their sick I want to repeat myself of what I said a few weeks ago because I want you not only to hear it with your ears but I want you to hear it with your spirit that no matter how hard you try the more you search the Gospels the more you realize that every person that came to Christ left with their need met let me say it differently you won't find in the scripture anywhere where one person would ever come to Jesus with a need where they did not have their need met every person that came in contact with the life giver received their miracle every person that came in contact with Jesus received their that they would under their need was met I want you to get that in your spirit because that belongs to you as well you can hold on to that as well I hold on to that that when I come to Jesus I know that my needs can be met He healed their sick the Bible says that around 5,000 men just men not counting women and children were now upon him this means that it could have been anywhere from 8 to 15 thousand people that was standing before him he tells his disciples give them something to eat you give them something to eat now there's a spiritual lesson in that not only was there a physical need regarding hunger but the spiritual lesson is that we as children of God we ask ministers of the gospel are responsible for giving the gospel of Jesus Christ out to the masses he's entrusted us ministers of the gospel and all Christians to be ministers to spread the word of God and they looked at him and they said we have no no food all we have her five loaves and two fish a meal for either one hungry person or a meal for two people that is it and yet Jesus takes those five loaves and two fishes he blesses the loaves and the fishes then he breaks it and then feeds them and gives them and yet the Bible says twelve baskets remained full what a miracle five loaves and two fishes upwards of could have been 15,000 people they could have been and yet everyone had their physical need met and yet they took up remnants twelve basket fools now there's another spiritual lesson in there and you see the process that every Christian will ever have to go through first he takes you thank God he takes us then he blesses us you see do you remember when you got saved do you remember that feeling that you had when you accepted Jesus Christ and do you remember the days after where everything that happened you felt like everything was a blessing that no matter where you went there was a blessing that blessings were raining down upon you day after day after day man what a feeling but you can't stay that way we can't just live off just that alone because we would turn into spoiled petulant children so God then breaks us in order to give us so every Christian we're all going to go through that stage those stages of taking being blessed broken to be given and Jesus tells his disciples go into the ship they didn't want to leave could you blame them what they just saw before their very eyes they didn't want to leave but the scripture says that he constrained them he made them get into a ship and he told them to set sail for the other side he wasn't going with them and he told them go to the other side while they reluctantly boarded that vessel the scripture says that Jesus went to pray if you've been here for any length of time then you've heard this statement that if Jesus needed to pray where does that leave us if Jesus had to have a relationship with his father how much more do we need to develop our relationship with our Heavenly Father I [Applause] read something the other day that it was a poll that was taken and in this particular poll it said that 55% of Americans pray regularly and I started thinking about that and I'm I really scratched my head and said I don't really even think it's that many because whenever you take he just said Americans whoever it was that developed this poll just said 55% Americans claim they pray regularly but if you really look down and look to the nitty-gritty and get to Christians I would be shocked to see if it's really that many the numbers are far far less regarding how that we should regularly have that time that fellowship that relationship with God prayer is vital to our system it's vital to our Christian walk without prayer we will shrivel up and die without prayer there's no relationship without prayer we will not have leading without prayer there's no guidance without prayer there's nothing there that can sustain us it's one of the most valuable resources we have but yet so few take advantage of it and I admit prayer is not easy we're not speaking of just now I lay me down to sleep pray the Lord my soul to keep or god is great God is good let us thinking for a food I'm talking about an earnest desire to seek the face of God it's not easy it's hard because there are times whenever you feel the weight of the world on your shoulders and you feel like you can't put two sentences together but prayer is such vital it's such a vital part of the Christian walk I also said you know papal mentioned to Wednesday nights ago about Bible reading and prayer and Bible reading and go hand in hand prayer in the study of God's Word it go hand in hand you want to know and I'm trying not trying to be mean or derogatory here and I hope you understand my heart but the reason why that there are so many ignorant Christians scripturally is because they don't pray and they don't read if you don't pray and if you don't read you don't know where you're going your ship without a sail you don't understand what is coming up in these last days and you don't understand what you're really going to be facing and yet we have so many of these Christian artists claims so to speak that are famous that say we don't know of homosexuality as a sin because they don't read they don't see it in the Word of God it was taken by a Southern Baptist group a poll they said that 19 percent of regularly a church attending Christians read their Bible 19% of people who come to church regularly read their Bible you'll wonder the church is in a state of chaos and a mess no wonder we have preachers that don't know any better no wonder we have churches filled with people that don't know because they don't read they don't study they don't pray these things are so vital to us and if Jesus needed to pray where does that leave us Church how much more do we need to pray so vital but it's where that we find faith in prayer it's where we learn to depend on him through his study of the word that's where we begin to realize that God is the god of the impossibilities that when you begin to read the scriptures and you begin to see for yourself the miracles and the things that transpired and took place that builds faith in your life to believe God for the impossibility I had a good friend of mine texted me on Thursday morning during our shift he texted me this he said if God is the god of the impossibilities then that means everything he's called us to do will be possible now I'm going to change that and just say it just a little differently since God is the god of the impossibilities that means what He has called you to do what He has called us to do will be possible because with God all things are possible with man it's impossible but with God all things are possible they said sail a journey that should have taken about an hour or two at the most they did not expect what was lying before them Jesus was not in the boat he was alone on the shore they were about three to four miles off the coast the Bible says there was a wind a turbulence that came against the disciples how many know what a turbulence is it's a violent movement a violent movement regarding air or water how many have ever flown in an airplane before how many have ever heard that pilot come over that loudspeaker and say ladies and gentlemen we're going to be experiencing some turbulence and what was your initial reaction whenever you experienced that turbulence some is not that bad some is really bad when you experience that turbulence there is that jerking that violent jerking where you feel like you're being thrown and if you're not seated Peugeot correctly with your seatbelt securely fashioned you might be thrown around some I remember I was flying somewhere and I'm not one of those who likes to talk whenever I'm on a plane I put my earbuds in and I try to drown away everything and try to rest some I can't sleep but I just try to rest my eyes some just be in my own little world and I was flying back from somewhere here back home and I was sitting in the back of the plane in the middle row and there was a family there was a wife and there was a mother and like three children two children and then me and I'm sitting there only in had my earbuds in and I was minding my own business just resting and coming back on that Sunday afternoon to believe it was and I was oblivious to what was happening around me because I was just in my own world and all of a sudden the first turbulent came boo-boo-boo kind of jar you for a second and all of a sudden I heard over the loudness of my earbuds the mother sitting beside me Oh God frightening scaring the two children I didn't think anything about it a few minutes later more turbulence whoosh whoa and then the third one it was a rough one I felt a grip on my arm and the circulation of my blood was beginning to stop as she was grabbing my arm and she was sitting there praying and little deceived you realized it I looked at her she looked at me she's I'm so sorry but I'm terrified right now I said it's gonna be all right you're gonna make it it's gonna be okay we're not going down but it was a turbulent it was going it was turbulence up and down up and down and it was a violent turbulence again this wind the Bible says that was contrary to them this turbulence it lets us know that in this sea of gallilee in which they were it is a type of the sea of life in which we all are in right now and this headwind that is stopping us this turbulent wind that is coming against us lets us know that we are all going to experience turbulence in our life at some point we're all going to feel the strain and the turbulence of Satan and the enemy trying to stop us from moving forward in God and at times we can grow fearful times that we can grow so panicky and fearful not knowing what to do some we don't expect it some it comes on us it was it was a journey in this life and that we wake up one morning and we think it's going to be just like every other morning and every other day but then all of a sudden something happens and it causes us to have our whole life thrown upside down and causing disarray we don't know what to do how could this happen why did this happen God why did this happen to me God allows us to go through those moments in time of those moments in life to teach us how to trust him you see trust what is trust I wrote this down because I believe it is correct I know it's correct but Trust is the firm belief in the reliability truth ability or strength of someone or something when you are going through this moment in whatever storm of life that you are going through right now first of all understand you are not alone the devil is very good at telling us that you are all alone in this storm that nobody else is experiencing what you are experiencing but if you could pull back the lead into the spiritual wall right now you would probably see a lot more individuals coming out of a storm going through and storm or about to endure a storm right now but he teaches us through these moments to have a firm belief that no matter the storm no matter the weather no matter what comes our way we have the ability to know that God will see us through those things don't just happen but they happen through experience when you go through a storm and you realize God has brought you through then the next storm that might be a little greater than the one you just came out of it gives you and builds your faith to know if he brought me through this one he can bring me through that one it is to teach us to trust him to depend upon him our initial reaction when we go through our struggles is to fight back to claw our way back to depend upon our own strength and this is what the disciples were doing in a journey that should have taken an hour - they were there all night long that wind was pressing against them they had been rowing and rolling but making very little headway all night long the black there's blackness in the sky the storm the wind was howling the waves were tossing to and fro and these some of them were experienced in fishing and yet they could not make very much headway likewise in our own strength and abilities and depending upon our own strength and abilities we'll make very little headway very little headway but just when it seemed like it was all over just like it seemed that the disciples the storm was going to get the best of them someone looks out in the distance and sees what they think is an apparition walking on the water I want you to know this I believe it's in the Gospel of John it says that Jesus saw them he couldn't physically see them from the ocean they were four and five miles out into the open to the into the sea he was back in the and at the at the beachfront and yet in the spirit he saw where they were he saw what was happening likewise no matter what happens he sees where you are he sees right where you are he knows what you're experiencing but know this just because there is a delay doesn't mean he's forgotten about you just because there is a delay in his coming towards you doesn't mean he's ignoring you delay doesn't mean denial does it mean deny it means that he's not early neither is he late but he's a known time God we sing that song he's in all the time God yes he is he may not come when we want it but he will be there right on time right on time they looked up and saw a man walking on the water you see this thing you got a picture this in your mind those waves were crashing down but when they saw this man what they thought was an apparition a ghost that wherever he was walking which defied the laws of physics it defied the laws of nature how can a man walk on water you're not talking about just any man here you're not talking about just any mealy old man you're talking about the creator of the worlds in the universe that every time where his foot would plant in that water that it would be come every time that he would plant that foot calm would be around him calm and yet they grew fearful and thought it's a ghost Frank but as Jesus grew closer he may have put his hand on that boat and said be of good cheer that word be of good cheer means be encouraged now this is I was thinking about this here these men were in a storm and yet Jesus is telling them be encouraged how can I be encouraged when everything is topsy-turvy around me how can I be encouraged when my whole world has been pulled out from underneath me how can I be encouraged whenever things are not going the way that I thought they would and things are going wrong no matter what they are they they seem to be going wrong how can I be encouraged you can be encouraged to know that through that storm through that dark night that the one who is the source of all peace the one who is the source of all peace is guiding you is leading you and will see you through you see when the world goes through their problems what do they do they reach for alcohol to try to drown out the problems they take drugs to change their mood some feel that there is no way out and they take a pistol or a handful of pills to end it all but yet there's something different about the Christian because when you go through your talk you're storms and your situations and your circumstances you don't reach for a bottle you don't reach for the drug you don't reach for that pistol or for those pills to end your life but as David did you find yourself encouraging yourself in the Lord you find yourself encouraging yourself as David did here's David out of the will of God for 16 months out of the will of God siding with the enemy of God and when he came to Ziklag he found the town burned all the women and children taken captive and the scripture says that David encouraged himself in the Lord when you get down you stay down on your knees and encourage yourself in the Lord to say lord I know that you're going to see me through you see the psalmist says that he'll grant you strength and peace Psalm 29 11 he said he'll grant you strength and peace in my weakness whenever I'm weak he is strong when I don't know what else to do when my strength is gone his strength would be there to help me that I can lean on his arm I could lean on his strength but what I want you to look at is he will grant you not only strength but peace there's two types of peace there's justifying peace that means that there's you have now peace with God you were once at enmity with God there was a chasm there you were separated from God but the moment you said yes to Jesus Christ there was peace with God but that's not what this peace is talking about turnabout's sanctifying peace that's the peace of God the peace of God that no matter what happens it's a peace that comes upon you that is beyond our selves beyond our scope of thinking we don't quite understand it but we know that we know that we know that no matter what happens God will always lead me through its that peace to know that God is able and he's going to see me through I know my lord it's going to lead me out I know my Lord is going to lead me out I'm gonna pray hold that nail-scarred hand cuz I know my lord it's gonna lead me out of this pilgrim land hallelujah I feel that this morning God it's going to lead me out I know my God is gonna lead me out I'm gonna pray do the best I can for I know that I know that I know that he's going to lead me out of this build remand but which somebody was shot this morning that's sanctifying piece that's sanctifying peace that God's going to leave me out then I'm not staying in my desert I'm not staying in my storm God is going to lead me out peace that surpasses all understanding that when your neighbor comes to you who's not living for God who knows that you're experiencing a storm and they asked you how are you smiling how can your head be held high during your tribulation you just tell them you may wonder well I'm smiling through the Thunder you may wonder what my soul feels no alarm coz there's a nod got it a vessel he's not Harbor in the time of storm one of a sort of a shaky all of us say you may wonder why I'm smiling through the Thunder wonder why my soul feels no long cuz then unseen hand devil there's an unseen hand God in my vessel my lord somebody ought to get that this morning there's an unseen hand got in your vessel there's an unseen hand got in your vessel glory to God I may be the only one feeling that this morning but I want the devil to know deviled eggs an unseen hand God in my vessel blu-ray blu-ray blu-ray hallelujah hallelujah he's my Harper he's my Harper's my lord glory to God hallelujah somebody feel that this morning I feel it I feel it I feel it you may wonder well I'm smiling through my thunder wonder why my soul feels no alarm there's an unseen hand got it not that soul hallelujah singers I need you to come back y'all can sing it a whole lot better than I can talk it I printed it out this morning because it says this I feel the wind to blow it across the sea of life angry waves grow higher as they roll the lightening paints the heavens my ship is tossed about almost devouring my soul do you feel that that's where some of you may be but you don't have to stay there because you wonder uh smile it through the Thunder who can help me with sing that Kim can you do it alright as she sinks it I want you to get down deep into your spirit and know that you know that you know there's an unseen hand God in your vessel that's an unseen hand got in your vessel [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] it's time to storm rejoice [Music] [Applause] [Music] first you I feel the wind
