Amazing characters. Crazy era.
That commentary was fantastic. I miss 90’s wrestling. The crowd was always into it and the storylines sucked the fans into it. So sad how many of these guys aren’t around anymore. I turn wrestling on now (before no fans) and it’s so stale.
The best Royal Rumble of all time, even if it wasn't fair to Flair
This was around the peak of my wwf days. I was 11 so I'd been into it for a good while but I was also just about to drop it for beavis & butthead and rock/grunge plus hanging out with friends.
Loved this royal rumble
I think the biggest thing this shows, which is missing from today's product, is that they allowed the mid card to be characters and be successful.
Being a successful midcarder wasn't a bad thing and there was no pressure to be forced into a main event spot.
Now you can't just stay a mid card player and still get good compelling storylines and great matches. It would be so much better if they allowed ongoing engaging storylines at all levels. They have many hours to fill it'd be so easy to do these days.
Didn't Savage eliminate himself early on? What happened there?
I was 8 years old, went to watch it on VHS round my mates who had Sky TV. Was a great day.
Holy shit it keeps going. For sure some of those hits landed.
I just watched this beginning to end and let me say... as hogwash as this whole thing was.. the pageantry, camera work, and just all around technical execution was awesome. Its a great formula. Its fake obviously but the magnitude and scale of putting on a show like this with all the characters and choreography... amazing. Well done. Those fans got their money's worth.
