today on the real the weight is finally over It's the Return of then how one ten-year-old girl's rare skin disease that's helping to color the face of fashion and we're about to change her life on the real [Music] [Music] again foreign Welcome to the Real it's that time which gets us talking yes you know it's girl chat hi ladies check this out a town in Alabama is dissing the daisy dupes the Dayville city council has already banned dudes saggy pants right now they've raised the stakes and they're hating on raised him lines so ladies what do you think about this bag she did she tried because that does not mean you don't respect yourself because you wear a short skirt like what you talking about like well if they had this band in La we wouldn't have nobody walking around but the old people have to say how you wear the the short skirt like I mean I don't want to see your behind yeah right but the thing is is the more you tell someone not to do something they're gonna do it even more yeah right I love a good short short I really do like boom boom shots yeah I'm gonna put myself out there because I do love a good short piece now tell me is this short is this short like is that is that short let me adjust it right it's short but it's covered okay we're looking at your picture right there that shows you like your legs and and it's it is a short I mean the wind could come but if it's short if you look closely there's a little Ted Baker tiny short peeking out of it but I want to say there are ladies who dress in shorts where they also let things fall out hang out and I think that that's maybe that's what the law is Banning it should be about decency I don't think it's right for them to tell us what to wear this is America we wear what we want to wear in that country [Applause] but some people you walk the band up to her it shouldn't be illegal for some people you're absolutely right yeah I don't want to see like I don't want to see cheek I don't want to I like guys who wear their pants so low that you can see their cracks I hate that that looks that looks really disrespectful it's a fashion statement right yeah but you can see the crack that's just like okay yeah that means it's too big just gonna get your size that fit yeah right yeah ugly yeah again indecency wait can't you get arrested for that well it well it depends on what state you know because out here don't matter anyway somebody who ain't happy with the state of things that's you know people are wearing pop stars is our legendary singer Patti LaBelle Patty has been throwing a little shade at female singers who performed at the VMA she said I need these young girls to put on some clothes I tell them to cover up stop showing your breasts and butts you do not need to be naked to sell records she went on to say I don't know if they'll listen to an older woman I'm 72 years old but I couldn't get you to pray for them I think what Patti LaBelle is saying here is please let your talent speak for itself okay I think nowadays we're so desensitized to like being shocked like the shock value right and I think that but no what I mean like I think I think young people are chasing the idea of shocking yeah is a picture of the VMAs and this was our girl Miley that that that's a little more revealing she wouldn't be allowed in Alabama I don't think I put her fan and then um this was the question that I have okay because we're talking about now what about in the past right okay did Patty ever not wear no clothes do we have well I don't know yeah it was like the black guy yeah she was definitely and for sure okay [Applause] back in the 1800s I'm sure it was some pop singers that didn't wear clothes do y'all have pictures they got popsicles back then take away from just the the shortness and the revealingess of clothes sometimes just more mature people have a certain aesthetic that they think is appropriate and whatever Patty thought then she's not the same Patty as she is now so if I was hanging out with her I really would dress and it takes the way that we respect her because I respect my elders and I dress to make them comfortable okay not me yeah I think I feel like you know she's one of the people that I look up to the most in the music industry right only because I feel like she gets a pass because right now today she has a tour that's almost completely sold out yeah she's 72 years old right so I'm still selling 17 years young sorry Auntie Patty here so I'm just saying that you know for me if you know of course I'm a singer but if I want to have longevity in this business I would listen to somebody who is still yet relevant and successful today I'm just saying right because she's trying to help somebody I take it to something that you just said right now that you would adjust how you dressed for somebody I once had a friend who had a son who was maybe given you respect yeah but he was meeting his son's girlfriend for the first time and he felt she dressed inappropriately he had an 18 year old son with a 18 year old girlfriend coming and he felt that she dressed inappropriately and I was like well what does that mean he felt that when he came that when the girl came to see them as parents that she should have dressed appropriately now of course you know I went on her Instagram and went to go see what that looks like and she dresses she dresses cute but like how these young shorts that she would not be allowed in Alabama okay but I was like I to give credit to somebody who is consistent with who they are through and through no matter I don't have to say yeah I think that's something to say about that so you said if you're going to dress like a um I would want whoever my children did I don't have kids you can dress like a hook or be a hooker huh is that what you're saying a little girl to my house it looked like a little fat lies exactly exactly speak more for Logan or the girl both well yes you dress for the occasion if you're gonna go out to a club then yes go ahead get the short short shows like have fun do your thing if you're going over to meet the mom of your boyfriend or if you're going to church and things like that you're making because every style says your message I'm thinking a little different I kind of get what you're saying Adrian only innocent enough but only in the sense of I want to see who she truly is that's what I'm saying don't be fake around me because I'm gonna find out who you are anyway so if I don't like you in the beginning just sir if I don't like you in the beginning well [Music] she's a great girl and is amazing to your son and really loves him the first time I meet her she can't wear no poo poo shorts right and if you knew that she later can she maybe a two months three months but if you knew that she's a girl who wears boom boom shorts and she came over to your house without the boom boom shorts that shows you that she put some thought to wear something that was non-poom pum in front of you this winter NBC is airing a live performance of The Wiz and they've casted some of the biggest names of music like Mary J Blige Neo Queen Latifah but for the lead NBC went with the complete unknown and after an extensive search they found their new door yes a 19 year old college student named Shanice Williams who beat out 600 women in her first audition ever wow so of course to tell us firsthand what it was like to get the lead in The Wiz live it is Dorothy herself he's on down here Shanice Williams yeah thanks for having me you look so beautiful and I love your hair I just have to say yes yes no I'm cool I genuinely love it okay I love you I love you back okay congratulations on getting the part of Dorothy I mean that is huge yeah crazy so how did you end up going out for the role in the first place okay so it was all my mom like she was very on me about you're not going to be sitting on my couch right you need to find something to do and I was like no I don't want a regular job that's just not me I'm not gonna be happy so I saw this online and I was like crazy crazy but I'll go and I'll do it for the experience like to learn what a New York audition is yeah and I did not think it would I didn't think I would make it this far you know it's crazy like every time I think about it I'm just like she was the one that sent you out on the audition so what did your mom say when you got cast for the part so they have it on camera when I called her she was like oh my gosh thank you Jesus [Applause] [Music] yeah I was so emotional now how did you feel stepping into Miss Diana Ross's shoes she's an icon as well as Stephanie Mills who originated it on Broadway yeah yes so they're like role models for me and I know like I have to be my own person yeah but they're definitely role models for me and I watch them and I'm like that's how you do it yeah I really like your shinies because you want me to tell you why a girl who do her research I do my research everybody knows that owning The Reel is always better than owning the mock-off but sometimes those fakes are so good people think that you're rocking the Prada what last season you got really good at spotting The Reel from the fake so let's keep it going [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] all right so we've selected a few of our lovely audience members to try their hands at spotting the real items versus the fix if they spot the real it's theirs to take with a real fast t-shirt show them today [Applause] let's do this our first audience member is Cherie Stevenson [Applause] oh my God thank you you know you're kicking off our second season right this is like the first game of the season okay stretch it stretch stretch okay okay you got this well they're all so beautiful I know they're such good stuff but Adrian's got a really good one for you where are you from gotcha San Diego California okay so San Diego you're definitely gonna need to rock a pair of these exactly because Autumn is back and so is the 70s Trend bell bottom okay okay all right now one of these pairs is designed by current Elliott and retails for 248 dollars and the other is a mock-off pair that costs just 29 bucks so the question is which one would you take all right which one would you take audience help her out help her out they couldn't listen to your audience I don't know if they're your friends or not but you got some people okay Channel yourself I'm gonna go with two she knows she thinks it's a two two okay okay good it's a brand spanking new t-shirt from the house [Applause] okay that's all right you guys I feel it in the room we got more going on who else left to play is free out turning out where you at girl where are you at [Music] [Applause] oh all right Brielle You're Beautiful by the way thank you gorgeous okay thank you for coming where are you from I'm from Baltimore there you go represent are you ready you need some shade out in Baltimore right yes yes okay what she's got well it doesn't matter what season it is you always need a good pair of Shades we have two pairs of oversized cat eye sunglasses one of these is designed by Dita which retails for 350 dollars it's a fake that only costs nine bucks which one will you take okay audience what do you think one or two [Applause] she's a very rockabilly she's into that vintage look what do you think I'm gonna go with one she says number oh my god let's go give her a big round of Applied you're good you got this okay you guys we need to kick off this game here we need a winner who else is ready to play sir I wanna see Amber Cohen where you at [Applause] [Music] okay Amber I feel it in you your winner right Sam where are you from Covina California all right another kind of girl yes okay listen up Tamara what do we have for her okay these are my favorites we all love a great pair of heels but sometimes you need to give your feet a break so here we have two pairs of scalloped Edge ballet flats one pair is designed by Chloe and retails for 475 dollars and the other is a mock-off pair that just costs 25 which one would you take okay I'm putting the winners Juju in you right now [Applause] look closely okay what do you think it is I'm gonna go with one she's gonna go with number one [Applause] I knew it I knew she was a winner I knew it okay you guys it's getting really good we've got one more item in today's faget [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] okay Chaz it's all you right now you got the winning streak you feel this I feel it it's here for you okay so it's Tamar what we got our Tamar okay chat today is your lucky day girl because sometimes you know when you want to wear a dress that's sexy and classy and comfortable so here's two plaid dresses that will do the trick this fall for you all right so one is designed by my homeboy Valentino but not really and it retails for 6.95 and the other is a fake that just costs girl twenty three dollars now which one will you take I can breathe okay think about it think about it [Applause] we're one one okay one more time one one [Music] now we all face obstacles in our lives and how we tackle them says a lot about who we are our next guest is a 10 year old aspiring model who's taken a potentially difficult situation and turned it into inspiration for thousands take a look at April I'm April and ever since I can remember I've wanted to be a model I love doing photo shoots with my sister posing and expressing myself when I was five my mom noticed a spot on my face I went to the doctor and I was diagnosed with vitiligo my mom didn't know what it was and I didn't either she told me white patches would spread over my body and I would slowly turn white when I found out I didn't know what was going to happen it made me feel scared people say really cruel things but just because they're different doesn't mean you can't make a difference my favorite part about modeling is when people see my pictures they smile and laugh I want to keep people smiling and I want to show that being different is beautiful and I won't stop until I reach my dream of being a model let's bring her out give it up but April star s [Applause] now I don't know if you know this but this is something that's very near and dear oh I'm sorry that's okay I I don't know if you know this but this is something that's very near and dear to me um I also have a slight Touch of Vitiligo so you know I do know how you felt when you got the news so why don't you um tell everybody how you felt when this was happening well I kind of felt like I didn't know what was gonna happen I was like scared and nervous and that you know but first I didn't like know what it was I thought I was gonna stay like right there so I thought oh okay that's okay but when it started to spread and people started saying things about it I was like oh so it's not that good but my parents and my siblings and everybody started making me feel like it's beautiful and I decided that you know you can't change it so you gotta like be beautiful about it and now I love it I know sometimes you know people attack things that may seem different or unusual to them and sometimes people make comments have do people make comments about how you look and if they do how do you handle that well first people will usually say that you know you look like a cow you or a Dalmatian dog but how I handle it as I go and I tell my mom and my sister and they tell me no don't worry about it and I'm just like Okay add it to the list of things that I just don't worry about anymore how about that hi okay so clearly you are inspiring all of us right now we want to know who inspires you a couple of people okay first Winnie Harlow yeah Sean Ross my older sister oh and my mom thank you so let's just say let's start off right off the top if you could say something to Winnie let's just say what would you say to her you are probably the most confident person that I know on Instagram and I wish that I could meet her well we hoped that you would kind of like want to meet her but at the same time she is very busy this woman is booked across the world so we just thought that we could reach out and call her instead because she wanted to set some time aside to talk to you okay okay are you all right with that there you go ready I'm gonna call it right now [Music] hello hi Winnie is this you hi is hi Winnie it's ladies of the real and of course we have a little friend who would like to say hello to you oh [Music] do you want to say hello go ahead you're on Mike hi Winnie hey Mr yes how are you I'm so good oh Winnie we're so appreciative that you took the time to call us is there anything special that you have to say I mean she I really wanted to come and give her a big hug but I'm all the way in New York and for fashion week but yeah I mean forget Fashion Week how about I give you a hug right now [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] what is going on through your mind right now I can't believe she's here right now she's right beside her touch her touch her actually I'm shaking just as much as you should oh what is it like meeting Winnie in person oh I feel like you're a lot taller in person I I just think this is such a beautiful moment for the both of you to me you might see her all over the internet I see the little girl that I wish I could have been to her wow absolutely because the confidence I have now I had none when I was her age so when I see her all over the Internet and social media I see the little girl that I wish I could have been the little girl I wish I wish I had all that confidence she's like literally the embodiment of me right now [Applause] was amazing now Winnie you are on the cover of the September 2015 issue of ebony congratulations what does it mean to you to be on this cover um first of all it's a huge fashion Edition because it is a September Edition this is Fashion Week right now um so that's already huge and iconic in itself but it says it for itself black model movement this cover is so iconic so beautiful I'm so grateful for Ebony doing this this is this is amazing yeah see this is the thing this is why you're a Trailblazer because now Miss April has someone like you so what advice would you give to her I don't think she needs any advice [Music] she's perfect she's headed in the perfect track she's a step ahead of where I was when I was her age so she's on the right track she's good yeah [Applause] we adore you and your story and we also know how important photos and exposure can be so we want to help get you on your way we told some friends that you were coming on our show and they want to help make your dreams come true essence.com is going to do a feature profile and interview with you and the folks at creative soul in Atlanta are going to set up your very own modeling photo shoot myself [Applause] magazine girl now it's going to be you it's gonna be you now some of you some of you think that they look this good all the time but I'm gonna be honest with you guys it takes a village to keep these girls beat honey then we're going to take you where the cameras have never been allowed before I put this segment but she stays done honey I'll post pig at our morning routines this is I woke up like this [Music] where everybody looking at me I mean I mean I wasn't about to go first I did not want to go first I will tell you that this was hard that's right someone had to do it take a look good morning you guys today I'm going to take you through my morning routine to show you exactly how I get ready for the real first I'm gonna get dressed it's really really hot in Los Angeles right now so a T-shirt and some shorts you may be wondering where Freddy's closet is it doesn't exist I'm just kidding breakfast bam and I down two to three of this every morning because chia seeds are really good for your skin and that big word right there I ain't no basic but I am regular I'm gonna hit the shower because I want to work out today I'm taking a shower wakes me up okay this is how I get to step in every morning I put on a 10 pound weight vest and I Sprint up my Hills and wash my face and head to the reel I'm going to my dressing room I get very excited because I get to see my Glam team this will be the first look that she'll be walking out with today on the Reel so this is crazy so I feel like maybe makeup take a back seat when I first looked at this I I thought top knot maybe not your traditional top knot for this look I'm thinking about having a beautiful gold eye then so it just you know accentuates and just goes with the dress but it doesn't take over yes and it's subtle because the gold will kind of show only in certain lights like when I when I give Lonnie some side eye before I start lifting the hair up into the top knot I am uh just putting a little bit of texture in the front of her bang we do like to give her a little height it elongates the face just makes it really beautiful go big or go home when it comes to hair you know you got to be adventurous so since this outfit is a whole lot of cray-cray I to cover up my tattoos just to kind of keep the arms really clean tattoos are an accessory so sometimes when it's appropriate for the outfit and then I don't mind showing them off okay guys so I gotta get dressed I'm kind of rushing we gotta be on set soon so give me a second I'm gonna eat I'm gonna see you in a little bit okay I'm ready this is my outfit it's a big step from uh today this morning huh guys it is a scooperific amazing little pant suit it allows me to stretch and get ready for gab bag or any games that we might have and um yeah I'm good to go let's go [Applause] it's nerve-wracking to show a camera on you when you first wake up with you guys
