I'm going to teach you how to play Frost Mage in season 4 of dragonflight for both Mythic plus and raiding in a digestible and beginner friendly format starting off with the stat priority first and foremost eye level and intellect are always going to be king this is what you want to aim for getting a higher and higher eye level this however is a general representation of the secondary stats you may want but there are certain percentage break points and I do also recommend that you simulate your character to find the per perfect stats and see which piece of gear if generally at the same eye level is better if you're not sure how to do that you can join our Discord or my patreon where I have a full written guide for you for the talent trees this on the left is for raiding and more single Target based and the one on the right is a slight differentiated one which is more for AOE and Mythic plus not going to go through every individual Talent as Frost Mage is confusing as it is but I will be going through all of the core and important ones shortly before we do that let's look at some of our really important cool downs and utilities starting off with ice cold this is a defensive healing us and reducing damage very simple there a not so simple but very familial one is Icy Veins that's right that's where the website got their name from increases the haste and summons an elemental increasing your Frost damage this actually does a pleora of different things and I will be explaining it a bit more detail in the rotation greater invisibility losing all threat and taking 60% less damage and then on the bottom Time Warp increasing your party's haste by 30% for 40 seconds this is of course your bloodlust or heroism that we do have available to us as a mage one thing to mention is this Talent here temporal warp when you do use your time warp you as a mage can actually use it again granting yourself 30% haste for 40 seconds while you have temporal displacement or other similar effects you may use Time Warp to Grant yourself that much haste basically when you use Time Warp or another player uses their blood lust or Fury of the aspects Etc any blood lust or heroism effect you can actually use your own time warp as a personal blood lust whenever you want after that just be aware of that that you do basically get to double up on it as a mage and lastly Mirror Image summoning mirror images to attack your target but don't be fooled it's not really much of a DPS increase and actually for every Mirror Image you have it's actually going to reduce your damage taken and is more of a defensive spell we also have a pleora of different utility Spells at our disposal one of my favorites being polymorph polymorphing our Target and incapacitating them Arcane intellect buffing our party for 5% intellect for our party or rageed should I say counter spell is a kick or otherwise as it's known an interrupt used to interrupt our enemy spellcasting and this is really really useful another great one is Blink where we're going to Blink forward it's not my favorite movement speed ability because you don't know exactly where you're going to land you obviously know roughly how much of a distance but You' got to be careful that you don't end up going into something even more deadly than you're trying to get out of now that we're in game Let's actually have a look at it how it all comes together ignoring these huge action bars of course that is just there for the guide I don't play like that the rest of my Ur you'll see is very very minimalist if you would like to get this U you can get that on my patreon as well as a lot of written guides XL spread sheets Etc and lots of other things and behind the scenes videos that I've got plan for you guys of course it does also support the channel which I really really appreciate one other thing on my UI is this here this is a week AA by Lux fos it's the frost Mage week AA and I will put that again in the description for you to import into your game if you'd like it and it basically has our cooldowns Buffs and everything we need to know all in one Center place in the screen for us so we're not sort of looking around all over the place and one last thing I want to mention before we get into the rotation is our Mastery Frost Mage can look very complex at the start but it's actually a lot simpler than you think so we our Mastery is called icicles casting a frostbolt icance or flurry grants you an icicle casting iance causes all icicles stored to begin launching at the Target so tldr when we're casting our spells we're going to get these little icicles around us and then when we cast our ice lunch all these icicles are going to kind of launch at the Target each doing Frost damage Frost bolt and flurry have a 30% chance to generate two icicles up to five five I up to five icicles can be stored any excess icicles gained will be automatically launched so you don't have to worry about that thank God increases the damage of our Frozen or blizzard and Comet storm by 17% and increases the damage of icelan glacial Spike and Ray of frost by 11% so as you can see our Mastery is very very in depth there compared to other specializations starting off with our top priority it is going to be our Icy Veins cool down which remember accelerates our spell casting for 30 seconds it is on a 2-minute coold down granting us 20% haste of preventing damage from delaying your spell casts activating IC veins is going to summon water Elemental by your side which is going to Grant you frigid empowerment increasing the frost damage you deal by 3% up to 15% and you can see that Frost Elemental there use that on cool down the next thing we're going to be using is flurry it's on a 30- second recharge and we have two charges of it un leash a flurry of ice striking the target three times for x amount of frost damage each hit reduces the target's movement speed by 80% for a second has a 25% chance to activate glacial assault and applies Winter's chill to the target Winter's chill is also one of the main foundations of frost Mage Winter's chill causes the target to take damage from your spells as if it were frozen so if I use flurry then you can see there we blasted it with flurry of ice and we have Winter's chill taking damage from the Mage spells as if it were frozen that's as quickly gone off for example on our ice L ice Lance here ice Lance damage is tripled against Frozen targets so if we have Winter's chill it is frozen and therefore doing triple damage so when Winter's is active I'm then going to use Comet storm on a 30C cool down cools down a series of seven icy comets comets on and around the Target that deal up to 30,000 Frost damage to All Enemies within six yards of its impact and you can see those coming down here so if we've got our Winter's Chill on the target we're going to be using Comet storm and again if we have our Winter's Chill on the target we're going to use our Ray of frost channels and icy Beam at the enemy for 3.6 seconds dealing x amount of frost damage every 0.7 seconds slow their movement speed each time rare Frost deals damage its damage and snares are increased by 10% this is going to generate two charges of fingers of frost fingers of frost is this Talent here frostbolt has an 18% chance and Frozen orb damage has a 10% chance to generate a charge of fingers of frost so what do those fingers do then fingers of frost causes your next iels to deal damage as if the target were frozen remember that means the icelan will be doing triple damage so if we use our Ray Frost again we're going to get two fingers of frost and you can see there that has enhanced our ice Lan we've got our two fingers of frost which we can use there to make it do triple damage when we use Ray of frost do use your I Lance to get out that triple damage even though it's down here on the priority list that's because a few things actually technically are ahead of that on the priority so obviously our Ray of frost is now on cool down but we can actually use another way of getting fingers of frost and that is our Frozen orb launches an orb of swirling ice up to 40 y yards for forward dealing damage to All Enemies it passes through one charge of fingers a frost when it first damages an enemy and while froz orb is active you gain fingers of frost every 3 seconds so basically we're using Ray of frost as our top priority for generating fingers of frost and then Ray uh Frozen orb as our second priority for generating fingers of frost and of course using our ice launch to spend those fingers of frost and just by the way if I tilt my camera up you can see there's our icicles around us see those icicles that we're going to be using we've then got shifting power a minor cool down at a minute draw power from Rin dealing damage to nearby enemies we don't really care too much about that but you know it's great if we do do damage while channeling your Mage ability coold Downs are reduced by 12 seconds over 2.9 seconds and we're going to be using shifting power basically reducing our cool Downs the next one on our list is glacial Spike and this is priority left to right so left is top priority but right is bottom priority glacial Spike conjures a massive Spike of ice and merges your current icicles in it into it it impales your target dealing damage plus all damage stored in your icicles and freezes the Target in place for 4 seconds requires five icicles to cast so you can only use this when you do have five icicles and your passive with this is that your ice Lance no longer launches icicles and it will be done through your glacial Spike instead and lastly we've got our frostbolt which is basically our filler and you can see here that frostbolt obviously does have a chance at generating fingers of frost as well and now we have five icicles you can see here we can use our glacial Spike boom massive icicle going in there so let's just recap what we're doing we're going be using our Icy Veins on cool down using our flurry to generate Winter's chill using our Comet storm when Winter's chill is active using our Ray of frost again with Winter's chill generating fingers of Frost with that and using our ice lanch to spend them shoving out our Frozen orb again spending our fingers of Frost with iance and then going to you reduce our cool Downs with shifting power using our glacial Spike to spend our icicles and again using our ice Lance to actually spend our fingers of frost using frostbolt as our filler when we have nothing else to press and that oh God choke to death then and that is how we're going to be playing single Target for frost Mage in season 4 for the actual set bonus we're getting the two set bonus revolves around glacial Spike this season increasing its Damage Done by 16% and when it shatters a frozen Target as we've seen a lot of our spells are be freezing our Target this is actually going to deal 15% of its damage to nearby enemies and the four set bonus makes it so that glacial Spike has a 40% chance to trigger brain freeze brain freeze is this Talent here your frostbolt has a 30% chance to reset the remaining cool down on flurry and cause your next flurry to deal increased damage and that is your flurry here so again your glacial Spike has a 40% chance to actually trigger a brain freeze that's from your four set bonus this season we've got a few other important talents bone chilling passively increasing your spell damage when you're doing a rotation flash freeze where your icicles have a chance to give you your fingers of frost and this one here cryopathy each time you consume fingers of Frost the damage of your next Ray of frost is increased by 5% and that Stacks up to 50% and Icy Veins will give you 10 Stacks instantly and this is your ray of frost here so as you can see when I use my Icy Veins I'm now going to be doing super duper damage on my Ray of frost here regarding Comet storm remember this is one of our top priorities in the rotation one of the reasons for this is glacial assault your Comet storm increases the damage your enemies take from you by 6% for 6 seconds therefore we want to get that out as much as possible to increase our Damage Done from our other spells and flurry has a 25% chance each hit to cool down an icy Comet crashing into a Target and nearby enemies for x amount of frost damage as you can see in a lot of these talents it is actually doing a lot of AOE damage to multiple targets for example here our glacial spike is also going to hit a nearby Target for 100% of its damage and therefore when we actually go into the Mythic plus build you can see here that not many points are really changing at all namely our freezing rain Frozen orb makes blizzard instant cast increases it Damage Done ice cooler each time blizzard deals damage the cool down on Frozen orb is reduced while Frozen orb is active you gain fingers of frost I think we already had those so tldr then when we use our Frozen orb here this is going to make our blizzard instant and blizzard ice shards pel the target area dealing ex amount Frost damage Dage and reducing movement speed by 60% for 3 seconds each time blizzard deals damage the cool down of Frozen orb is reduced and you can use this pretty much on cooldown in an AOE environment and that is pretty much it guys there's only a few little things I want to talk to you about and that is these three down here cold snap is on a 5 minute coold down resets the cool down you got ice barrier Frost Nova cone of cold ice block and ice block Ice barrier Shields you for with ice absorbing damage for one minute melee attacks against you reduce the attacker's movement speed an ice cold where your blood runs cold reducing more damage taken by 70% while L cold is active you heal for 80% of your maximum health over the duration using cold snap will reset the cooldowns on these two spells and these are two major defensives that you have got that I don't think I spoke about before and if I did well here we are again um and again don't forget with your time warp you can use this twice for you specifically massively increasing your haste and that is it that is how we're going to play Frost Mage in season 4 I must say this is my final video for season 4 PVE guides I started doing content in November in season 3 um I only had a th000 subscribers then I'm now um work nearly getting towards 12,000 um since season 3 started and the feedback has been just amazing and I didn't manage to get every class done in season three but here in season 4 I've officially done it I've now done a guide for every single spec in season 4 for PVE and I'm I'm so grateful for all your support it's been an absolutely huge undertaking I do actually work a 9 to-5 and then I just do all this in my evenings and weekends so you know it's been grueling getting all 39 specs done but the fact this is the final one I feel incredibly proud and I'm just so thankful for all of um your support Etc and I really do hope these videos are helpful for you I've got a lot more planned um I don't normally put such an outro onto my videos but considering this is the last one and it's the first time I've achieved this I just kind of wanted to add this extra note in there cuz I am like so ecstatic right now um that I've managed to do it so if you are looking for other spec guides whether it's Mage or others click this playlist here CU I have all 39 of them now officially for you waiting to be watched and again if you would like to support the Channel please do join the patreon uh or join the Discord where we can help you out of any questions or queries you may have around any specs you can get my UI on the patreon and you can get a lot of other guides that I've written as well and don't forget to subscribe because I have got I've got a lot more content coming outside
