today let's get started it's time for hot topic so i was right about nelly he's cashing in on being on dancing with the stars he's a smart businessman i'll tell you nelly is going to play rock and roll legend chuck berry in an upcoming film they're both handsome right that's chuck in the heyday and that's nellie who'd you rather anyway buddy holly is going to be a epic it's called clear lake um buddy and and nelly are from the same place that's uh yeah chuck berry chuck berry and nelly are from the same place yeah cleveland and uh clear lake is a lake near there so you know nelly had no i'm sure he probably grew up with this story so he'll be good at that you know nelly is an actor he's been in some stuff so good for you nelly and you know what um i liked uh um the chuck barry movie have you ever seen with most deaf cadillac records beyonce and then were in it yeah that was a good one but i think this is a story that could be told again you know and uh so this is not his first time acting although i'm sure he's taking acting uh lessons between doing dancing with the stars um in 2005 he was in the longest yard another movie i remember but i didn't see it who else was in this movie chris rock was in that and i think adam sandler yeah i know and uh terry crews no i didn't see it um anyway good for you nelly good for you now this might shock you but it doesn't shock me l.l cool j is saying that he doesn't mind when people say he's gone hollywood well he hi todd hi simone hi family um he posted um on his social media it's time to uh get something clear calling me hollywood is not an insult i came from queens and busted my ass to get here i earned every dime i'm absolutely hollywood i like that i don't think that there's anything wrong with that it's kind of like what karen who you or hugher was saying when she was here she's like i am absolutely embracing all this fame i worked hard to get here and if you if you're like me then you know the story of todd from back in that day you know when he was opening for other people and now other people are open for him he doesn't even have to go on tour he's got that music money and he's got that ncis los angeles money the show comes on so often bravo now put it in programming which bravo can we can we get back to the housewives and stuff that we tune in to you for must it be on bravo but he does a good job um and he keeps his weight down he's the real deal he is you know manly enough to provide for simone and the children and manly enough to braid his daughter's hair on the steps in the coca-cola commercial yeah look at the jays this is a good family well speaking of jay jane starts with jay let's talk about jane seymour we don't really talk about her very much that's dr quinn medicine woman well you know she's 69 would you look at this 69. she says she's never gotten anything done she says she wants to grow old you don't think that there are a few clips in this hair just a little something to thicken it up and texturize it a bit you don't think there's a little lunchtime procedure going it's tasteful i'm still mad that she's divorced from stacy keach sorry i am voice of american greed one of my favorite shows um anyway she is outraged that she's not allowed to play a 25 year old everybody calm down she's serious about this she says uh well first of all jane is currently filming a mini series and in the mini series she was told prior to jumping on board that she'd play a character uh different ranges from 25 to 80. so so the producers much like the producers here sneaky and no good besides i like a surprise too so jane just take it like i do humor them and go along to get along okay so the producer secretly hired a younger actress to pass for 25 because the younger actress is 25. jane says she could easily pass for 25. why here's a picture of jane when she was 25. no what do you mean that was the standard of beauty back then kind of like the mona lisa that's how old she is no i'm saying standards of beauty changes anyway jane the point is is that you can't play 25 just take it they'll have you playing 45 to 80. how about that by the way this mini-series also stars denise richards uh-huh and joan here this is 69. wait go back to the beach and joan collins but look that's her she's got a thigh and she's well it's not you know right and she's got her hands on her hips and she's standing confidently between rocks goodness only knows what kind of snails are in there she's brave jane you could do anything you want to do i still remember when she designed that um kay jeweler infinity piece do you remember i got one i got one so do millions of women oh and everybody looks thin and 25 here you see you get to the top of the steps like that like like um phaedra's husband did to kenya get to the top of the steps anyway if can't take the jokes then you can't take the jokes anyway jane enjoy your time doing this mini series it's not just a one-off it's going to be good all you women i'm sure are going to be very very good in this so you're familiar with the singer legacy well she may have unconsciously revealed her true feelings about jesse smollette you see no good jesse from chicago used to be down with tyler perry could have had the world at his feet at this point lee daniels sorry why do they always remind me of you know because they're friends i guess yeah i don't know anyway lee daniel um jesse is making his directorial debut and he's also one of the stars in his project leticia is one of the stars also but here's what she told tmz and you have to listen to her word play very carefully go ahead i love jesse i think he's always been there for me great guy if you know him you know his personality he's a good human he means well you know with everything he does and we got to remember that part and he does good work you know people make mistakes and they do things around the wrong people so to me he's figuring it out people make mistakes they're around the wrong people he's figuring out his defense read between the lines while she's trying to defend him she also threw him under the bus as you could hear however i do say this about legacy you know how sometimes when criminal people do work that maybe people are protesting so they don't really watch it but there's a breakout star because somebody's got to go on the promo tour to promote this project when it's done they should pick legacy and let us see you'll be the breakout star of this you know kind of like cookie lion you know what i mean like uh who cookie lion cookie lion right yeah but you know in the back of your mind let us see you will always have guilt kinda sort of for doing this project and um jesse no matter what you do you did one of those things that people are always going to remember you and the african brothers the exchange of money you got off but we didn't believe it and oh jesse musty jesse thank you in the meantime we give jesse small that a hard time how about mel gibson should be thrown all the way under jesse's bus i mean how are you going to talk bad about gay people black people jewish people all in the same slammation several years ago hollywood finds a way to forgive him today and now they're making he and danny glover a lethal weapon five first of all do we need a lethal weapon five five so mel is 64. danny glover is 74. and you remember in past ones i've never seen one of them so i have no idea but they tell me that in past ones danny has always said i'm getting too old for this s well now he is old but for those of you who like this it'll probably be in the theater and you know you'll have to i guess mask up and go in and bring your own snacks and stuff like that i don't think that they're too old for action films and here's why uh you know when martin got together with will smith they're the younger version and they they were like that was like comedy and they were able to do that really well danny glover and um mel gibson they're the types kind of like james bond point and shoot and have their minions around them do the punching while they escape you know but lethal weapon 4 was 22 years ago i wonder who was doing a protest on this should come back now i'm sure mel gibson still's got plenty of money between people who have sided with him the complexion connection you know um there were people in our hot topics morning meeting that were saying well maybe danny glover needs the money and he's just closing his eyes to it and hoping that people of color will not come for him on social media i'm not participating in any of it now by a round of employ of applause we can include our audience right here and um setsiders clap if you're going to see lethal weapon five not one no we are the taste makers just saying it's time for reality rewind hit it and shoe cam please oh thank you a little gucci for wendy yes can't go wrong nice to see you nice watch the inside track on the bachelorette yes so some people are saying that the bachelorette is faking storylines to stir up some drama shocking right reality tv stirring up drama well i have a source very close to the show and they tell me they've actually seen this happen and they gave me one example from this week's episode so in that episode you see fan favorite bennett wear a bathrobe to a cocktail party in the evening which as you can imagine raised some eyebrows okay why was he wearing this cocktail party bathrobe what was everyone else wearing suits what you would wear to a cocktail party so obviously it was there for a reason apparently it was manufactured drama because he was wearing this bathrobe earlier during a challenge when he served bachelorette asia breakfast let's take a look at that clip okay next up bennett how did this happen all right all right i feel confident that i'm a grown-ass man i'm not afraid to be who i am and you know i think a woman respects that what are you doing it's uh breakfast in bed so i think this is kind of like a sunday in a morning slow and easy but it's bougie okay he's bougie and i'm bougie so i appreciate it yes well i'll tell you something some of the other contestants on the show they didn't like the bouginess but a lot of his fans on twitter they loved it they say they love his style and some of them are even saying that if he doesn't win this time around he could end up as one of the future bachelors which would be a very big deal as the star of the bachelor he's got enough personality to be the star of the bachelor yes exactly by the way did you hear that they're renting out the bachelor's house as airbnb for six thousand dollars you not think that's worth it you can live your bachelor fantasies no cameras anything goes just saying fantasy suite all the way six thousand dollars pay for that anyway by the way so this new season of jersey shore family vacation you were talking about renting out right they rented out an entire hotel in las vegas because of corona right right people are worried that somebody is trying to replace nookie on the show now you spoke about this back in december when snooki said that she's retiring from reality tv and retiring in the name snooki she wants people to call her nicole exactly she's all grown up and at the time this is what she said i'm going to quote her she said i don't like partying three days in a row it's just not my life anymore i want to be home with the kids at 32 years old if i'm doing a reality show i just want it to be fun and lighthearted and lately it's not like that and the show is getting so dramatic so people have noticed that nikki hall who's pauly d's new girlfriend they met on double shot at love and they're seen kissing in the new promo for the show and so some people are saying you know what she doesn't deserve to replace snooki she's new they point to lauren who matt who who married uh the situation and it took her 10 years to get on the show and they say she has not earned it but either way they need a little drama they're all stuck in this hotel they need to spice it up a little bit we have a clip from the show if you want to see it i would love to let's do it hey babe hi babe everyone wants something to drink wow taking paulie okay coming out hot like that everything this year is weird kovy just came out of nowhere and polly has a beard he's got a girlfriend 2020 man i'm single and paulie's taken what else can happen well people are saying they might be engaged yeah so she's clearly got a big personality and there are rumors that she could be engaged so snooki has actually been stirring up a little drama on her podcast she talked about a scene that she knows about that's coming up this season that involved a private jet and a secluded location she said that all of the families were involved so it's clearly some kind of big event but we don't have confirmation yet we do know that they have been quarantined together which is serious but here's the clincher for me on nikki hall's instagram story okay nikki herself posted a photo and a video of herself with an engagement ring and then quickly took it down oopsie nothing is oopsy on instagram stories okay i mean here's my thought snooki can come sorry nicole you'll always be snooky to most yes like falling off a bicycle being messy partying three days in a row no matter how many children you have you have a decent life now with your husband but you'll always be snooki from jersey to us 100 yeah she can come back to this show at any time if she dials up the producers you know they'll have her back by the way she was reportedly making around 150 thousand dollars an episode on the last season which just shows how much they value her and how integral she is to the show so we'll all be ready for her when she wants to come back and also um this girl uh she's scary nikki's stirring up the pot herself yes and they will get rid of her quickly if nicki gets if um if snooki gets together with jay wow you say bye oh snooki plus j.y will definitely exceed nikki any day yeah so nikki save all your checks cause you won't be there long yeah all right and and what else so we we have tiffany new york pollard you know what we all need a little nostalgia now yes right we got to know her back in 2006 on flavor of love then she had the isle of new york show well now they're coming up with a reunion show i love new york reunited hosted by vivica a fox okay it will feature all the characters all the ups and downs all the heartbreaks we're going to take a look at how the characters have evolved over the years i think it's going to be good that we have a little bit of a slave in here not i don't think he is in this one but you know what i wouldn't be surprised if he shows up and makes a little appearance yeah yeah yeah you can't have new york without a little flavor yeah yeah yeah you want to take a look at a preview club yes yes let's do it i love new york monday new york is in the building did you find love they were hot they were very passionate he came to see me after the show an entanglement did i mention this is one reunion but it's nice to have you back it's nice to be back you give a level of elevation to this messy show well i do my best thank you uh shoe cam please let me see your shoes ah oh i'll show you a shoe okay a flip-flop watch oh oh well i assume like tube socks and flip-flops that's what you guys in california wear because even though you're from harlem you're a man of the world from your lips to god's ears yes yeah your father was in the army and so you traveled every place i know at one point you lived in germany and you used to know how to speak fluid german when i returned to the united states i could speak fluent german and japanese we lived in okinawa for about three and a half years we lived in germany for another three and a half four years both in krilzheim and in dhaka wow so the interesting thing about joe is that you know you've been in about 135 television and movie productions what do you get recognized for the most well you know it depends on the age group i mean if it's an older crowd they usually remember brother from another planet or a television series i did call watch your mouth which was an educational series of it's a bit younger they're more apt to remember terminator 2 um then even a little bit younger maybe justice league and superman versus batman and of course uh scandal oh yeah you're a real actor's actor you look different in every role you play including now um in your home if that's your home well thank you uh in my home i think i guess you're referencing um between the world and me which was shot here um that's sort of how things are being done these days yeah um it between the world and me for those who don't know uh was a best-selling book by um tad nahashi coats it was a long letter to his son about any number of different things it talked about uh the fact that it talks about joy it talks about pain it talks about the endangered black body and also talks about the beauty of the black body it talks about the joy of going through howard university and meeting his wife and um i think it's the kind of thing that will touch anyone whether they are black or white i think for white folks it will show them who we are as a people um and for black folks it will reaffirm uh their lives so we love you on scandal uh but it's done if there's a scandal reunion or do you do do you know those people please say you do the people you acted with oh we stay in constant touch with one another we have a little chat group that goes almost every day i mean if if not um every hour i mean it depends on the month and whose birthday it is and you know what child is being born and who's pregnant and it's it's amazing i mean we have not stopped talking to one another no matter what wow how comforting so if shonda with her leaving abc um and now being at netflix if she called you right now and said the answer would be yes i don't care what it was you know so how do you like this zoom thing with quarantine i like it well it's it's interesting i mean it has its drawbacks i mean if you do zoom all day long by the time you get close to dinner time it's just like you've had enough of it on the other side of things um i have been privileged to do a number of projects through zoom theater projects that have been enormously inspiring um one is a thing called shipwreck written by ann washburn which we did for the public theater it's a quote unquote anti-trump play it takes place during the same time that comey was in front of the um uh committee and they were asking him about uh his conversation with trump about becoming loyal um and i play james comey it's a radio show the other thing that i got involved with was a thing called lessons in survival which is just brilliant i mean this young director tyler thomas found any number of recorded interviews let's say it might have been between uh paul paul robeson and an interviewer or or james baldwin and nikki giovanni um i fortunately got a chance to play both those characters and what you'll watch is an actor um who's able to watch and listen to an interview as it's playing and repeating what he or she is hearing without embellishing it without interpreting it without any doing anything more than just trying to channel what's being said and the two things that are remarkable about that is that the room behind that actor might simply disappear simply because you get totally engaged with the character that they are channeling and the other thing is that you realize of course and unfortunately that a lot of these interviews were made 40 or 50 years ago and they were still talking then about what we're still talking about now whether it be race or class or economics or politics yeah uh joe i didn't know that you could sing but uh you're you're very you can sing you recognize until i started my career and i started off by doing musicals well who knew sorry well i got a tony nomination for playing walter younger in a musical version of raisin in the sun oh oh well i understand one of the things that you loved is that you did background singing you performed with aretha franklin well i did a film uh called blues brothers 2000 and there we are and aretha um was uh part of the grammy performance that night and she was going to sing respect which she had sung in the first blues brothers movie and they she asked us if we would back her up which we were more than delighted to do i mean to be on the grammys with aretha franklin singing back up to respect is probably one of the highest things on my list of things that i've done in my career that is fantastic uh so the thing is is that you've got so many things going on first of all did you walk in there with the hats or did somebody give you the hats oh no no no that's costume you know the hat and the glasses and the whole thing because in that film i start off as a police chief uh only to find out that um i'm related to their so-called stepfather if you will um in the earlier film and then become recruited vis-a-vis god in the blues brothers as one of the blues brothers the first thing i sang in that movie was with james brown and sam moore and it was john the revelator well tell me about wake up america that song so wake up america is a song that um one of my best friends and i created and we started working on about two years ago when we clearly were recognizing the divisions in this country and our point of view is that those divisions are created by politicians and politics one of the lyrics is politics is a cruel unrelenting desert where truth like water is rare a mirage um and i think it's those things that divide us so the song is about uniting the song is about hope the song is about we the people that we are that we are the cornerstones of of democracy what's happened recently is democracy has become the greatest expression of our economics you know as opposed to the uh uh people who are coming together to sort of uh find a way to conciliate very diverse interests to come to some sort of common purposes um we've lost that idea we now think that democracy is like capitalism and classism which of course it is not a go far welcome back we have a doctor keeping us company she's here to tell us how to take care of our skin during this cold weather please welcome dr michelle henry from new jersey from new york how you doing wendy how you doing so did you study skin care of some sort when you were at harvard so i did so i did some of my training at harvard and i also trained right here in new york city at mount sinai hospital nice i'm a board-certified dermatologist i do the full range of dermatology i see adults i see children and i handle all skin care concerns very nice um the skin routine changes a lot during the winter because everything's chapped you're having everything you're absolutely right you know during the winter we have to pay special attention to our skin it can get red dry inflamed and why does that happen you know when we go outside that cold weather is just leeching the moisture from our skin and if you listen hard enough people will tell you it's the 500 moisturizer that's better for you than the moisturizer that you can find at your drugstore we'll talk about where you can get this stuff in a moment but in the meantime back to the doctor exactly that is not the case and then we go inside and then that warm dry radiator leeching the moisture from our skin and then further we're all stressed i know i'm stressed yeah and you know that chronic stress from covid and uncertainty can actually compromise your skin barrier and change the way your skin holds moisture so now we're even drier well what do you say to people with really oily skin so even if you have oily skin it's important to moisturize because having well moisturized skin with smart ingredients helps to waterproof your skin so to keep the good things in and the bad things out so moisturization is my food i have no problem with it however i do agree with you you are in a particular environment where you shouldn't have had your friend be your assistant to begin with you should have had a total stranger who you would feel nothing about firing or telling her about her food habits okay what you need to do when we hang up together is call her up and let her know that smacking her food licking her fingers i'm sure she does that does she dig in her teeth like me all that next wish lap all of that okay it's it's it's fine for me because i don't care but you need to care about this because you're it's your head boss all right thank you erica uh felicity is in sacramento how can i help you felicity how you doing how you doing wendy good thank you um well like everybody else um everything in my life's got uh delayed because of covid and i've had to uh put off uh my wedding like a couple of times now uh to my fiance and it's like i don't want a big wedding or anything like that i just want to do it but it's real important to him that we have our families there and things like that like do i keep waiting it out or do i just push him to like you know do it already well how long have you been here how long have you guys been together like four or five years almost okay have your parents met each other or do they get along they actually haven't because my parents live on the east coast and his lived down in los angeles so what five years they've never met that's weird okay you and you're a little weird okay you need to have a conversation with your fiance first okay behind the scenes and then get together on zoom with your parents and his parents not your siblings not the aunts and uncles and grandparents get together with your parents and say look we're getting married and when quarantining is over we're gonna have everyone together and have a big celebration i'm not wearing the dress but we can do the alley cat okay all right congratulations and good luck we'll be
