hey guys and uh welcome back this is uh fourth July weekend or just past the Fourth of July weekend and uh yard sales were not quite as uh uh a bountiful if that's a word than they normally are but I did find a couple of things to the three things and we're looking at them right now uh one of them actually was a free pile on the side of the road and uh the gentleman was it's still there and I I asked him what's up with it he said on this mower the pull start you go to pull it and it would want to retract the uh pull start back in after you went and started it and he said the cogs were bad on the pull start I didn't have the spring return or something along that nature and with that he also took the blade off of it and he helped me load it in the truck so that's all the information I have on this one again it was free if it's worst case scenario we look at it and it's not worth fixing we just shove it out front with a free sign on it too and let it move on its way and then the other item was this guy which is probably the better of the two hopefully is going to be a husky roater I think it's uh I think Tractor Supply cells Husky and this was at a yard sale where the property was bought at I want to say it was a foreclosure and there was a bunch of stuff left in the backyard I walked around the backyard there was a garden tractor back there there was a um like a string trimmer both of those the motor didn't turn in the tractor so I didn't bother with that and anyway so I was kind of walking away from this he says you want that for five bucks you could have it I said okay we said okay loaded in the truck and here it is when I got there this tire was off laying on the ground with the pin out of it I believe it probably sheared off the valve stem and they were in a process maybe of trying to go and fix that and then couldn't get it going and the only other thing I do see right off the bat is the uh air cleaner is bent down on a funky angle so I don't know if somebody got pissed afterwards and gave it a good kick or what the deal deals with that but uh something's happening there too but that does uh crank over when you pull on it so hopefully it will be a Survivor and I don't know why it's got yellow paint on it but it does and uh want to try to get that cleaned off if everything else works okay so let me get set up and we'll get her on the bench and start looking into them and I got to get the bike Off the Bench this uh is on a separate video playlist it's in process this is a another yard sale find a Honda uh SL 125 that I picked up about 3 or 4 weeks ago and lo and behold we look dug into it got after we got it running found out third gear was no good that's in process we got the transmission parts for that got a whole new set of Gears uh new used set of Gears Forks selector Etc still waiting on an engine gas Cass set and a top end but we're going to get this thing off the bench got kind of somewhat organized in boxes and hopefully those parts I get and we'll be in the end of the week and we can continue on with this one but let me clear the bench off for now and get us ready for the other stuff oh and one other item that I did find was a antique bicycle SL maybe motorcycle seat uh probably looks like 30s vintage to me the leather is all blown out but the uh the main carcass of it is fairly decent it's got a weld on it right there but we'll throw that in the stash for future builds so one thing that needs to be kind of a a dress right away is the fact that it's missing the blade underneath and you'd say to yourself well why you know why can't you move forward without uh resurrecting that problem first well the blade on a lawnmower is actually the flywheel works as the flywheel so it needs that Mass to kind of um Pull It Through The Strokes that the engine has uh without that it will definitely have a tendency to kick back at you and want to pull backwards so we're going to go pop pop that off of there and see what it has for a a star or Circle whatever I got a couple blades out in the in the part shed out back hopefully I'll have one to fit it hope I just get one on there even just so that we can move forward sure we're going the right way and it does not look like anything spectacular to get on there I'm going to go take a walk see what I can find and uh see if we can get one on there so I wasn't able to find a Toro blade in my stash I found a couple things but we are just going to go for now just for test purposes it's just got a a regular Craftsman riding tractor blade it's got the five star in the center of it and we're going to do our best just to run that up there and Center it and again we're just kind of using it for a flywheel the whole idea is not to spend money on something that is uh going to be wasted until you you know you realize that you do have or don't have something worthwhile now that shap like a bastard if it does run hitting the jack stand but uh should clear okay and again we just have something that's uh used as a fly well that Blade's bent anyway on the end of it so uh let's see if it does anything all right so I dumped a little bit of gas in there got about 10 cents worth of gas in it so we're into it for now that uh and again I'm reiterate on the blade they'll be a dumbass like I am and just shove any blade on anything uh I know what I'm not doing so take it as a warning uh let's go see if uh it'll take any kind of run and see if we can reproduce what he said it was doing and we'll go from there I don't like taking someone's word for something because I generally get burned when when that happens so let's give her a couple primes and give her a pull and see if anything decides to happen hopefully he doesn't launch the blade out from underneath there and take my legs off that would just suck all right so I would say it is trying to fire and you see that I'm wondering if it sheared the flywheel pin and what's happening is it's going to go fire over but the timing is now wrong and it's trying to make it kick backwards so let's get into the cover pull it apart and take a look let's dig in that it did check the oil does have oil in it see the buzz that out of our way so now we have to get this guy off and then down to the flywheel of course it's a different size he four screws took the uh p start off uh let's get the main nut off of the flywheel see if we can get that off of there and then we'll the the truth will be told at that point I'm looking down the center right now I think I see a mismatch in alignment but I'm not sure yet let's see if we get a little underneath persuasion little up pressure going to wrap down on the on the crank soon as I get under it in a good spot let me uh get the nut back on there and I have to hit it with something that's a steel not uh plastic let's try something a little bit more Stout it there we go so the problem with this machine is just what I thought so there's the key the sheared off key and that's where the key is supposed to be so it did rotate uh probably 60° at a time something like that so let me see see what I could dig up for a key and we'll see put that back together and what kind of response we get now see if you could tap the uh what's left of that key out of there might be better off with a actual CH point I'm going have to put my glasses on and work on that and now that I can see what I'm doing I got a little screwdriver behind it there's the other half of it so going to go my little bag of magic trick see if I can find something to replace that with so the key that was in there is a special key it's actually shaped like an L see if I can piece it back together enough to show you guys so it is shaped I'm going have to take my word for it like the letter L and uh anyway we're going to go with that so the flywheel is fatter and then the uh section that goes in on the crank is thinner we're just again still trying to move forward with assessing what this thing is whether it's going to run whether it's going to be okay or not so we are going to continue by like we did with the mot blade just half assing it and we are going to go stick at just a regular key in there in the right window hopefully that's not too long and we're going to tighten that down we'll put it back together real quick we'll fire it up and we'll see if the engine is okay and if the engine and transmission is okay that's real cheap on eBay and a blade I could probably get for uh you know 10 bucks on eBay too so let's find out all right it's all back together with temporary parts and let's see what it does it may smoke cuz I had it flipped up on its side may not I haven't primed it let's just see what it does I'll take that for a win so that's pretty good you see how it's vibrating again CU that blade is way out of balance so it's causing it to shake around so I need to order um the key and a blade and just change the oil on this give it a once over this will probably be a very good mower to uh continue life on so that's good for this one hey guys and now I'm going to wrap this one up on this video we'll make it a standalone one and we'll do the uh roota tiller by itself and we'll make a video out of that I want to thank all you guys again for watching comment subscribing and I'll see you in the next video later [Music]
