so what's going on people welcome to a video on the channel and in today's video we're gonna be doing a tutorial of how to do a simple face cam overlay like the one that you can see on the screen right now right around the perimeter I've got on me the reason why I'm doing this is because you can make this completely free and a lot of people aren't doing it through this software so I'm gonna be showing you guys how to make this overlay or any type of overlay you want like this if you want to see me do additional ones like the one that's on screen right now if you want me to do an overlay like this with the inclusion of a twitchchat right in this area right by here then please comment it down below and I will try my best to do that for yourself this is one I use they're both the ones that I use for myself I've made them myself so that means you guys can do them yourself as well so as you can tell on the screen right now we are on now I will leave a link in the description to this free software is just the watered-down version of what Adobe Photoshop is I know there's a lot of features that are missing from Photoshop to but if you do want this just to be your video or your image editing software then please go ahead download it use it and it is completely great to use I've used it for years and you know it is being the thing that's got me through so many years for YouTube so go download it then cry will be good to use now I will say in this video it's going to be the dummies guide to how to do the just the frame really the reason why I'm just going to do the frame is just because you know it's easier to have this as a separate video and then to have the full overlay type of thing on a different video instead if I just show you guys how to do a frame and I can link it every single time anytime I do an overlay video or tutorial then this is where the main thing is so we're gonna start it off by going to file just right at the top right here so I'm then go on to new now the main thing about this is to make your image size 92019 twenty by ten eighty because that is the aspect ratio of what your video is going to be now I know you're he might go to 7:20 or it might go to 480 instead but your aspect ratio is still going to need to be that now before we make anything else I will say go into the Advanced Options and then make it your fill with is going to be transparency now the reason why you're gonna have that is just because your transparent background is going to be that instead instead of having a stocked background color or a white or a patterned or whatever it'll just be completely transparent and make it a lot more easier to see where all your stuff is so if we go ahead and okay that one and make sure that everything is on pixels if it's not on pixels it's gonna be bloody huge and you know it's going to not work as well so make sure I think it is on pixels so press ok on that one and there's the start of it so our next step is to make a new layer even though we've got this entire thing we're going to have to make a complete new layer so if you go over to where the layers and brushes pies what you've got the background part you're going to right-click and then you're going to add new layer now this new layer is just going to be a completely solid color instead so you can make it as a fill of white so it just makes it a little bit easier to have it as a fill of white anyway and it's just going to be your template throughout the entire thing so don't get rid of this just keep on making copies of your template so as you can tell I have named it template and I'm gonna make it and now it's completely white now the reason why we're making a completely new layer is just because this is going to be your starting position for every single part of your facecam overlay and the reason why i'm making it white is so that means it's easier to see and it's easier to edit the white instead of a pattern or anything like that if you have it as one solid color if you want it to be green like a bright green then make it a bright green if I can say bright green you know make it a bright green like that you know but for myself I like having it white for something's you can see it a little bit better so now the next thing that we're going to do is we're going to resize your template now the reason why we're going to resize it is that means you can see what your facecam is going to be now this layer is just going to be what your facecam is going to be like where it's going to be on the screen and it's going to keep the same aspect ratio as what this is but just a smaller version now the way to do this is to go over to the left hand side hopefully on your screen as well and you pick the scale tool right by here a scale tool so if you click on that and then click on your white image and now you can scale it to whatever thing you want but for this don't unclick this remember to have this as a lock and like chain type of thing if you unclick it it's a lot but have it as lock together so that means it keeps the same aspect ratio you don't have any difference there's no there's no thing about it if I show you guys if you unclick it you can edit any way you want if you want it to be like a box shape then unclick it but for this tutorial I'm just going to show you guys how to make it as the same aspect ratio so I'm going to reset it and then I'm going to click it again and then make it to whatever size I want it to be just because I know a lot of people do like to have the aspect ratio to be exactly the same that means they don't have to edit it they don't have to crop down what the image of your facecam is going to be myself I do like having it a bit more box but just for this video I will have it as these same aspect ratio so now if we just make it a tiny bit smaller just because you don't want it to make up like too much space of the entire screen otherwise it will cover quite a bit of it so now if we just scale that and now there's our image just before we do any more stuff though I want you to go over to the fill make sure it's on white so we're going to go to the bucket fill tool now we're going to zoom in so ctrl scroll in we're going to scroll in straight to the size by here because these sides were here are a tiny bit transparent so if we click on this now that is completely filled in there's no transparency there's no additional part it's going to be a completely solid white image just that means you can see it a little bit better every single corner is gonna be exactly the same now as you can tell if I go round it every single part has not got a transparent part it just makes it a tiny bit easier if it's called back out now it doesn't look any difference but it won't make a difference now the next part of this tutorial is to make two copies of your white layer so the template layer is going to have two copies one of them is going to be black and the other one is going to be a bright color so the bright color can be whatever color you want the frames be just for right now so it can be for myself I'll pick black for the background and then I'll pick a align green or something like that you know something get a little bit brights I mean you can just see what the border is going to look like you can change that color to whatever color you want if you want the color to be a solid color then make it a solid color by oh it's saying right now just make it one solid color and then if you want to change that you can change it yourself so if we do that right now if we move that down a tiny bit just that means we've got a little bit more room to make some of the copies I'll zoom in a tiny bit now you're just going to go over to the template layer right click and then duplicate and then we're going to do exactly the same again so two duplicates of that maybe make it know us that's that's about right that's about right so now if we make one of them and we just click on the name of it so we're just going to have it as template black and we all make that one black and then this one won't make it probably template color just for now hi I'm British so that's not how to spell it anyway that's how you spell color maybe not flower but those two other ways that we're going to have that so we're just going to press the a button on some of these layers so that means we don't merge them together just right now I know a lot of this is probably incredibly brain numbing and confusing stat but it's not so we're just going to click the I button on the background and we're gonna pick the eye button on template and then one of your layers so for right now we're gonna click the I button so that means it's not visible on the template color version something's right now you can't see it right now but the only version that is available is the black version now we're going to make this one black by going over to colors at the top right here the American version of colors I'm gonna go to exposure so exposure will allow us to change the color of what that image is just from black to white but for this one we're just gonna make it black so we're gonna make it completely and utterly black you can scroll it as far to the side as you like if you want it to be a tiny bit grayer and you can make it gray but I would just say make it black just for right now you can amend this tutorial in any way you like if you just want to use this as just a starter and you want to adapt the way I do it then go ahead adapt it it's the greatest way to make yourself a little bit more personalized but if you do want to just follow the tutorial then great follow the tutorial so now this layer is completely black so now if we do that the first thing we have to do is to make sure that each side is black now you did see with the white one the white one had some transparent white parts it was a tiny bit gray on this one it seems like it is completely fine sometimes it does show up as a transparent black but sometimes you don't really notice it so if we just click on that click on one layers just to make sure there's no gray areas which doesn't seem like it so that means the entire border is completely black you might have to sometimes do it when we have to resize these image afterwards you will have to fill it in with a black again just because they might have a tiny bit of a opacity to it just just the smallest part of anah passage to it so if you want it to be a completely block color then make it a block color but right now that one is a black one dunt I'm gonna do exactly the same for the color one but on the color one we're going to change it a tiny bit so go to colors or you can just fill it in with other stuff so we'll do it we'll do it this way instead well do it we'll do it this way silence it's all bit easier something you can just pick the color that we want I'm gonna go for a lime green so we're gonna go for that I'm gonna go for that and then I'm gonna fill it all in make sure that each of your corners is green as well sometimes it might not do it I know this is a green screen color so you might not want it to be green if you are using a green screen and you're having a facecam as well what you playing that but you know if you do want it to be just facecam by itself then you know use whatever color want you can use green then I like I like the color green anyway it looks good for this so now we've got three different layers one of them is black one of them is a color and one of them is just the template the template we're gonna use it way later but for right now we're just gonna have it as the color one so whatever one your color one is use that color one and we're going to go onto the scale button right by here and we're just going to scale this now the easy way of doing this if I just click off this one second if you go over to tools I'm pretty sure it's tools still it's been a long time since I've done some of these things but I'm just making sure that it's still right sorry I was completely wrong go over to image and then go over to configure grid now if you click on configure record configure grid you can change what your spacing is of a grid so for myself I like having it one on one for the pixels so that means you can move your image to pixel by pixel now you don't have to always have this but I would suggest doing it just for right now so for this we just click okay so that means that's done now if we go over to view and then we show grid it might not show up right now but if we zoom in one more or two more it should show up as you can tell this is pixel by pixel so it is incredibly small and it just allows us to see where all the pixels are now you can have the white one on top of that one if you want it to but as of right now make your color one a tiny bit bigger now all we've done right now is that we have showed the grid but to move this one click on snap to grid and that will allow us to scale this one pixel by pixel for each side so we're going to unlink it because if you don't unlink it the aspect of it is going to look very weird you back your your overlay color it's gonna look really weird to what you overlay is going to look like your face camp overlay if you just did it towards the length one your sides so you're right on the left side are gonna be incredibly small to what your top and bottom sites are going to be so by unlinking it you can make it exactly the same on each side that means it looks like a professional thing instead of something that you've just dragged across so since we've clicked this one the first thing that you probably want to do is make your green your color layer on each side probably about 10 pixels bigger just on each side so remember what your thing is for each part so for my height right now it is two one nine so for my top part is going to go up to two to nine so if we just do it like that it will lock to it as soon as it's that means you can't go any higher as you can tell soon as you go on to that one it kind of also does it it also locks to it so it makes it a tiny bit easier for you so this one is going to go up to two to nine at the top like that to two night now if we do the bottom one as well have to go the whole way down to the bottom so sorry about this now if you just do this one another ten so how's it going to go two two three nine just keep on adding ten the each side it's not straight to the bottom all right now it's straight at the bottom and now we're gonna do exactly the same on be right and website so the right side is gonna go to 399 for your width as you can tell it's gone up to 399 now if I can get it to the next thing right by there so that one is now 399 and then the left side is going to make it 409 just like that now that is incredibly easy to do and that is our facecam border now you can move your white layer if you hold on to your white layer and then move it up there's your face cams done really you don't need to do any more if you don't want to but for myself I like to have a little bit more of a bolder look to it not too bold just a tiny bit bolder so to make it a tiny tiny bit bolder you now need to move your black layer so if we make the black layer I would say probably about 13 on each side I would probably say 13 makes it a tiny bit easier to have maybe 12 on each side but if you make it 12 bigger on each side I know it'll go over the green right now but you just moved the black layer down below the green one and then it looks a bit better than so if we just knew it 12 upwards so add on an extra two to each side it makes it incredibly easy to do incredibly incredibly easy to do so there's the ten and number two and then the right side 10 and then number two and then the final side for the left side and we're going to do a ten and then another two just makes it incredibly easy just remember to have on the snap grid while you're doing this if you don't have to scrap grid on it's essentially a freehand which is really hard to do I have tried it I used to do that in the in the past and they didn't work that well to do that so right now if you just scale to what this looks like or you can move that one up or maybe you know if I do it right myself it might be a little bit better ha ha if I if I do it again myself right now I'll I'll show you guys what it looks like so now if I pressed scale on this one it shows the smallest of backgrounds or smallest of parameters just around the green now you can make that one thicker you can make it a lot thicker if you really want it to you know if you want it to be a tiny bit bolder you can do we might do on this one we'll just make it maybe I don't know two more two more pixels bigger we'll make it two more pixels bigger and then you guys can see how much of a difference just small as two pixels make just on these type of things they do make a lot of difference to what you may think my not so now that's with an additional two pixels on each side so now that's gone up two additional two it's a tiny bit bigger now isn't it so it tiny bit bigger makes it a tiny bit more bolder see as you can tell it looks a lot more cleaner it looks a lot more better just to have it just like this so realistically you're nearly done just from just doing this just the smallest of things can make this done the next thing that we have to do as you probably seen just then or if not you have to move your original template layer and the white layer all the way to the top just that means you can see what layers you are editing now this is going to be a little bit different and make sure to follow this so for this we got to right-click on the template layer the original one the white one and press alpha to selection now the reason why I would present that is that means we highlight the entire frame of the white layer now the reason why we're doing that is so that means we can delete areas of different layers now we're only going to delete the area of the green layer for this middle part so for this don't unclick it make sure there is still high and then click on the color layer your green layer your blue layer whatever color it is just your color template layer and then all you got to do is press Delete now that deletes the green layer now to get rid of the flashing line around the side you click this tool right at the top by here the fuzzy select tool and you click outside of that layer that you did pick click off the entire screen or off whatever and it'll unselect it so now as you can tell it is a complete black background now just with a green border around it now the next thing we have to do is have the white layer active again I mean you can see us you know zoom out a little bit so I mean you can only see it a little bit more and now we gonna make it about maybe one or two pixels maybe the four pixels again maybe three it's up to you you just gotta shrink it down is the main thing to do so still have these snap grid on and just shrink it down so you can make it three you can make it for you can make it exactly the same on each side I might try and do a three just to see what it looks like you can do it whatever thing you want if you want it to make it fall so that means it's symmetrical to your outside and your inside then do it exactly like that you guys know how to do it right now I've shown you in complete death I told you the dummies guide of how to make and overlay so now there's our white screen wears on if we scale it there's our white screen that's what it's going to look like on our face gums just like that just with a picture in that white area by there and I will show you guys with a picture in two seconds but if you're ok with what the in size black perimeter is going to be like then you can do exactly the same as what we did to the green layer alphas to select the white layer since we have shrunken that one now get rid of the eye so that means we don't see that layer click on the black layer instead and now we just press Delete now we've got a completely transparent field now makes it he'll haunt me easier click the fuzzy tool and look there is our overlay that's all you have to do completely easy to do there is our overlay now if you do want to make it a tiny bit better if you do want to add in some extra parts for myself I do like having a bit of a shadow to it so if you click on the black layer and then you go over to if I can remember how to do these things filter so click on your black layer and then click on filters and then you go to light and shadows and then you're going to go on to drop shadow drop shadow will add on an extra layer as you can tell to that complete layer now your blue radius is how much it's going to go up or go down whichever one you want it to be you can have it as dark as you want you can have it as far in as you want you know but the easy way of doing this realistically since you can't see the outside can't see the inside is to make an additional layer just like this maybe not like that though make an additional layer and make sure that it's transparent instead make it just template and then get rid of your colored layer right now this is just if you want to make a drop shadow but get rid of your color list that means the only two layers that are active your layer that you've just created and your black layer and then right click on either one of them and then go merge visible layers now The Verge merge visible layers is so that means it'll allow you to have an additional space because as you can tell the difference between the area that you can edit the entire image on is if I can show you on the colored one is just that big but now on the black one is the entire screen now the reason why I made it the entire screen is that means we can and in the drop shadow so we go back exactly the same way filters light and shadow and then drop shadow drop shadow as you can tell now you can see the entire area of where the drop shadow is going to be so for myself I do like having it dead center so you can edit it completely and have it just zero on both side so I mean it's dead center you can have your blue radius to be whatever you can have it anything I like to have it a tiny bit bigger so as you can just about see it's not that visible but it does add a tiny bit more like a hmmm to it you know a tiny bit more of a thing through it so we just made that one active again and there's our lit if you want to change the color of your color then you can do all your going to do is select it you do the alphas to select think again and then you know just do whatever you want inside of that color so alpha so select Siamese you're just selecting that area if you want to make it a gradient so go over to gradients on the side make it any color you want you can make it the orange the thing one I usually do pick that one but you can make them whatever color you want I do like to you know customize some of my things so you know we'll we'll pick and choose some things so you go for a light green another light green then you go a bit more like a yellowish so like that and then if you go all the way up to the top I will zoom in on this some of you guys can actually see I have to put more of a gradient towards them both and you just drag across he's writing across and you can see a tiny bit of a change it's a tiny bit lighter if you mean with the whole way to here it is just green if you go a little bit more you can just about see there's a yellow but it does look a tiny bit better now that gradient is done you just pick the fuzzy and look the gradient is done you might not see it that much but the gradient is done at this moment you can change the thing you can get rid of the snap to grid you can get rid of the show grid so that means you know you can actually see it when you zoom in like that so you could just about see that bit by there this bit on this side is a tiny bit darker while it is on this side just the smallest bit but if you go onto the black one you can just about see it so that is the entire overlay done done completely overlay done you don't need any fancy things you don't need anything like that you can do it whatever speed you like remember I'm doing this as a dummy's way I'm explaining what I'm doing but if you're doing it by yourself then this is incredibly easy way of doing it now I'll show you guys that you know you can do whatever if you want to change the color again change the color make an additional copy of your color so I means just in case you know you do want it to be a different thing no you can just go back go back on the thing itself that means you just got the solid color make a duplicate of it but make it unseeable that means you can edit that color whatever color you want but I will say just before you do edit all of this remember to merge your layers together like how we did before merge both select layers and all that one not that one run burn rubber and sometimes I do or on myself but merge visible layers together and then merge and that is our entire overlay done I'll show you guys with different things you can just move this now move it to whatever you want if if I try and get a screenshot I've got a couple on here the one that I use is this one this is my overlay that I use as of right now and then my second one is just the smallest of backgrounds it's just that that's all my overlay is for just my face I have any additional stuff it's just facecam if you're just that enough on Twitch or on YouTube or mixer whatever thing your life human - you don't need all of the fancy stuff you don't need top donations you don't need your recent sub or anything like that if you're on Twitch you don't need that because you shouldn't be pushing for that just play the games enjoy yourself a bit still what I do it doesn't really matter that's still what I do is just enjoy the games that you're playing so if I go over to these type of things you know we'll click on any game any game any game any game with the things this would book click on this one this one's got like a bit of a game to it it's black ops 2 throwback so we've got our face cam there's our face cam it's now the face cam you have to put it in a position where it's not going to obstruct too much of the screen so like on the ecology games you usually have a kill feed by here don't you or you have the score somewhere at the top it's a lot it's changed quite a bit but sometimes you do have to see if your face cam is covering up the space just before you do use it now if I get in a screenshot of my lovely mug onto the screen there it is if I get a picture of that wrong thing remember to click that so that means it changed altogether and we put our picture inside of that now all these have all got the same aspect ratios if you do want it to be a completely different aspect if you want it to be the box like how I always have it then make it a box as long as you know how to change your face camps that means you're not squeezing the face cam and you're just cropping out the sides then do that but for this I'm just showing you guys what it looks like in a game you don't have to have it dead on you can have it you know over doing some of the size and whatever like that look there's a face cam look it's a great reaction to it it's great reaction that's just how simple some of these things are if you want to add in your logo if you've got your logo or whatever I've got a logo I've always got a logo on my things apart from on my actual face camp I haven't got a logo but on this I've got a logo look if you want a logo on it if you want a logo just underneath your facecam then add in a logo to your facecam add it in just drop it in as long as you don't have anything else you can just do whatever you want on this for this I'll just do it very fast just to show you guys what it can look like blur radius rule pasty go to that go a bit more towards there that means you know it doesn't look that bad does it it doesn't look that bad now the ways that I would do it towards this is if you want it like in the middle put it put it in the middle put it in the middle but I will say if you are just testing all this like how I'm doing right now member to get rid of these layers this is the only things that you need you need your facecam frame not the face cam itself the face cam frame you need and if you want your logo have your logo there so for this type of stuff just do that file save as always save whatever your thing is have your folder ready so that means you know where it is and always export export as and export as a PNG always a PNG so that means it keeps it transparent if it's not a PNG it's not gonna have the transparent background so that is the entire tutorial for how to just do a face cam I've done it a lot more in-depth than previous times if you want to see my previous time then please go check it out I will put a link in the description also link in the description to the editing software if you want to see me do how to do the full face cam if I can show you guys I'll look at the screen very fast like this one is just a simple one if you want to see me do this one instead then please comment down below because I need to adapt to mind myself I need to add some stuff to it I'm just gonna show you guys how to do this type of stuff the social pop up just below please go follow me on Twitch you know you don't follow me on Twitter good timing thank you so much but the social pop but below me is completely free as well I will do probably a tutorial for the stream labs how to set up the stream Muslim but the social pop-up below me is on nerd or die if you've clearly if you search for noodle die on YouTube there will be a tutorial or how to add that in into OBS that's the main way that you can actually add that one in so having a joy I can now stop talking and I will see you guys in the next video remember to like subscribe follow me on Twitch if you want to see some gameplay or you know some live streams eventually and yeah have guys enjoy and hopefully it was useful for you and you know stay safe stay at home and all that so peace out
