welcome to autumn a new beginning for the festival that never ends don't go anywhere horizon is here to stay Forza horizon 4 has been announced and unless you've been lost deep in the Amazonian rain forest for the past few weeks you'll know that it's set in our backyard namely Great Britain it features changing seasons and it has the brand new McLaren scent a hypercar on the cover beyond that though there's a bunch of interesting tidbits about thoughts of horizon for that you might have missed consider these morsels of information that have us convinced that thoughts are risin for will rock your world when it arrives on October 11th on Xbox one and PC here are seven things you didn't know about four - horizon for Porsche Horizon Forest Britain is a shared open world when you play you play with the entire community back at Microsoft's e3 show there was a lot of talk about how Forza horizon 4 would have seamless co-op and new social features what developer playground games didn't mention on stage perhaps because they were being modest is the total number of players who'll be in a game together that total number of players is 72 which is not far off a fully packed battle royale server those 72 players will be segmented into local groups of 12 so you're never going to end up stuck in a traffic jam also AI driver tars are no longer present unless you specifically choose to play offline but before you swear off online play entirely bear in mind that griefers are going to be taken care of only your friends or people in your convoy will be able to make contact with you everyone else will be ghosted if they try and make unauthorised high velocity modifications to your 1 million pound supercar they can't even photobomb you in photo mode unless you let them at which point it ceases to be a photo bomb and just becomes a photo forsyth on live advice the entire community to come together and cooperate to win big rewards so yes with 72 players horizon force world will be busier and more human than ever before and best of all I think we can safely assume this won't have yet another hastily tacked on battle royale mode [Music] though previous forts are rising games were essentially perfect summer vacations pressed onto a disk you can't set a game in Britain and not include dreadful weather unless the bit of Britain you set it in is Gibraltar which is basically Britain but with Spanish weather it's fine though because forts horizon fort is the idealized version of every British season it's either thick Christmas card snow beautiful autumnal colors crisp spring days or baking hot summer's well it doesn't seem to capture is dreary gray skies and unending drizzle which is the closest Britain gets to default weather of course if you've seen anything of horizon 4 you'll know these seasonal changes are a huge part of the game and will genuinely affect the gameplay frozen lake for example will be passable and power slidable in winter but a big watery hazard during summer pretty sure power slidable is a word what you might not know is that in the full game the seasons don't change mid-race like they do in this demo instead of that seasons will cycle based on the date in the real world with each season lasting a full real-life week it'll also be synchronized for every player in the entire game because it has to be can't have one player screaming along sticky dry tarmac while another is slithering around on an ice rink unless the one with the dry tarmac is me and the one on the ice is my opponent who I'm beating man seems entirely fair plus if you're still looking for that perfect summer holiday in horizon 4 you'll get a whole week of uninterrupted sunshine which is definitely more than we usually get for real in Britain I might just live in horizon 4 from now on hey talking of living in the game [Music] the horizon series is no longer all about buying hugely expensive supercars in Forza horizon for you can now demonstrate a shred of fiscal responsibility by buying a house in the game - we can only assume at previous horizon festivals everyone slept in their car and never showered and that the dark secret of the game was that all those beautiful festival goers smelt all for not them jealous or anything purchasing property is part of what playground games is calling living the horizon life that also includes getting a job to pay for all that virtual petrol you're burning don't worry though you're not going to spend 90 percent of the game Manning a terminal in a call center instead you'll be doing things like filming for an automotive television show and performing the sort of high-speed taxi rides that would earn you either a 5-star or an O star uber rating depending on the passenger scraped together enough dough and you can even buy actual Edinburgh Castle as your permanent residence perhaps the current owner some outfit called the Scottish government decided that money was tight and that it's totally fine that Edinburgh is most recognizable and historic landmark become your personal super car car park either that or this is just one of those eBay scams and you've actually bought a picture of Edinburgh Castle [Music] for a game developed in Britain and set in Britain playground games has managed to rustle up a British cover car the brand new McLaren Senna this car is the fastest ever to grace the cover of a forts a game quicker even than the McLaren p1 hyper car that was on the cover of Forza 5 it's probably one of the best handling cars on the planet - given that it creates 800 kilos of downforce and has active aerodynamics both on the front and the rear that tweak the airflow to best effect as you drive I mean I wouldn't know I haven't been in the McLaren set or have I I have it was astonishing obviously it's powerful with its four litre twin-turbo v8 engine chucking out around 800 horsepower but more importantly than that this thing has otherworldly levels of grip which will be extremely useful when you're darting between Vauxhall courses on the roads of Horizon Falls Britain [Music] quite unbelievably although the McLaren Centre is built for obliterating lap records this thing is actually road-legal so it's also somewhat realistic to see it dramatically increasing the number of UFO sightings in the Lake District although I'm pretty sure that speed camera would have detonated in real life I even had a chat with Bruno Senna nephew of Ayrton legit racing driver longtime video gamer and all-around nice guy about what we've got in store for us when we finally get hold of the centre in Forza horizon 4 but it's actually thrilling and you're you're driving on the limit and the car it's really fast and everything is happening something it's sort of like simulates really how he would be for driving on the road with a car like this but it shouldn't be driving like a dog yeah so what I'm saying Santa is that I've been awfully good this year and in addition to my copy of Forza horizon for if you could just slip a 3-course for a million-pound hyper car into my stocking it would be greatly appreciated I'll even leave out an extra mince pie you're sincerely Mike aged pretty much still 12 years old [Music] we all know that horizon 4 is going to be set in Britain but what you might not know is that it's not going to be the whole thing instead this is a sort of picture postcard greatest hits of Britain getting rid of all the dull concrete gray bits and focusing on all the pretty parts in between for a start London is right out it's just too sprawling and full of traffic to be much fun and the gate would never be able to do it justice without getting bogged down in the details instead the main metropolitan area in the game is Edinburgh which has the benefit of being both extremely pretty and relatively compact the map itself stretches from down in the Cotswolds all the way up to Scotland north of Edinburgh but skips the major cities in between you'll end up visiting Chesterton windmill and Warwickshire Snow's Hill in the Cotswolds like when quarry over in Wales and a horizon Festival location at don't water in the Lake District near Castle Riggs stone circle no word on whether the Derwent pencil museum is part of the horizon festival but hey there's got to be at least a little crossover right and speaking of drawing things [Music] it turns out there are people who like to play Forza horizon games but don't want to race perhaps they just want to explore the open world or socialize with friends or they firmly believe that a 30 mile per hour speed limit should be adhered to at all times what's a horizon for plans to cater for all those people and more offering what the developers describe as meaningful progression for just about everything you do in the game that means you can genuinely level up and progress just by painting new liveries for people to apply to their cars if you like it basically means that Picasso would have been just as good at this game as Lewis Hamilton which isn't something you can say about many racing games that's not all you can apparently also progress in Forza horizon 4 by streaming on mixer which Microsoft is still 100% dedicated to making an actual thing more ridiculous still you can even progress just by watching people play the game on mixer the idea of slouching on the sofa watching cars race around and actually achieving something definitely appeals to me well achieving something more than gloves made of cheeto dust [Music] Forte's of games have never been a slouch in the looks department and it looks like from october force our horizon four will be the new answer to the question mirror mirror on the wall what's the best looking racing game of all but if you've got an xbox 1x you'll have the choice to either go for 4k resolution or silky smooth 60 frames per second which will be the first time a horizon game has been 60 FPS on console naturally the resolution will take something of a hit but we reckon it'll probably dynamically scale so that it's higher when the screens less busy and lower when you have that inevitable eight car pileup of course if you've got a hefty enough PC you can probably have your 4k cake and eat it at 60 frames per second wow that analogy actually works way better than I expected so there you go 7 little details about 4 -
