Fort William Scotland

hello viewers today we're in the highlands of scotland and we're in fort william just after seven in the morning so traffic's starting to get busy i'm just going to take a walk down the high street show you some of the shops bars and restaurants check out the scenery nice place there this is very popular backpackers if you're coming up to maybe ben nevis about two and a half three hours away drive from glasgow you can get the train up you can also get a bus as well so we signed to town centre also translated into garlic for you so let's take a wee walk down the high street if you're new before give me a comment below let me know would you recommend any places i'm here for another night i might come back again monday i'm just going to show you some of the bars and restaurants and there's a lot of outdoor shops here so it's very popular backpackers stay in a hotel just down at the bottom of the road here called the imperial hotel it's the best western it's a basic hotel it does the job it's fine now we've got the travel lodge as well we've got the black isle bar which is popular with craft beers that do pizzas as well check out the viewers from here pretty nice eh we've got a seafood restaurant just down in the front here if you're doing the west highland way you might end up in fort william so there's the crannog seafood restaurant right on the front and in contrast we have a weatherspoons just across the road doing some cheap food and drink in there seven in the morning so the high street is basically empty at the moment those tables and chairs are normally out here it's really busy last night a lot of places i feel the boots couldn't get in obviously the current situation scotland's quite a busy traditional scottish shops here as well get the tartan house you've got a course stuff you're looking for any coffee effects there's always a cost isn't there we've got super drug as well there's another pharmacy just down the road here the lloyds pharmacy we've got the ben nevis pub it's got one of the best beard gardens here it overlooks the water at the back give you a whiskey bar as well i recommend if you're in volume going there for a repaint i'll just show you the view from the beard garden basically so this terrace is just around the corner and you've got a view just overlooking the lock i think it's lock lenny as you as you can see beer deck area to the rear with spectacular views pretty accurate nice earlier so you'll find a lot about doorstops and fort william because a lot of people coming up to ben nevis etc you've also got to be whiskey shop selling some malts in there as well look fine bulmore if you're a vascular let me know nicely restaurant here tavern busy again last night philly but again grog and grill again another place pretty busy we've got the regatta great outdoor shop so if you're coming up here you're hell walking or you're hiking don't really need to worry about equipment there's plenty of shops here that sell stuff maybe hail and bookshop they sell new books and they've also got secondhand books upstairs as well cafe up near the church here coffee eat climb repeat that's a slogan one of the boats you can see is just heading out shortly it's quite nice to do these walks this time in the morning because they're not disturbing them they're just walking down the street and it's nice and quiet we've got the awesomes accommodation here hotel not bananas i'm not sure what it's like but location-wise can't really be beat right in the middle of the high street as i said guys if you're new to the much the volunteer arms is quite a popular pub we're showing the football last night in there check out this guy in the vintage car [Music] so we've got to be cinema up here and we've got the west highland museum which is free to gun doesn't cost anything it's opened at limited time it's normally open all year round but the times we've got limited at the moment we've got a cinema and a cafe bar here so as you can see it's not really a traditional cinema it's not a big multi-complex just a nice v cinema and foot volume let me know in the comments have you been to fort volume can you recommend any places nearby i think i'm going to maybe go to ben nevis later on today all right going to be born of a cruise we've also got sports direct here if you're looking for outdoor gear if you're up in volume always seems to be sports directs and town centers the high street's not too big you can see you can walk in under 10 minutes the mountain warehouse shop again another outdoor shop we've got the crafter bar and restaurant on the left-hand side which always seems to be a busy again i couldn't get in there last night football was on i'm trying to go and watch football i was fully booked so that's the crafter let me know have you been in there before the crosser is just next to the hotel i'm standing so the hotel i'm staying in it's called the imperial hotel i'll just quickly show you four volumes not that cheap for tails you'll find in peak season you're probably looking at 100 a night roughly for even basic hotels like the imperial hotel which is quite basic it's quite dated but it's fine they've got to be rebound the restaurant the rooms are okay as well the room i've got it's got a really nice view it overlooks the lock as you can see only small downside is because it's on a main busy road it's pretty pretty noisy the traffic going past but a nice location you can see we've got the bank there as well it's a nice historic building i'll just take a wee bit further down high street here we've got the church here if you're looking for somewhere to go on a sunday it's called the saint andrews church a nice bowden we've got an italian american bbq diner here chicago heights which looks quite nice the menu let you know how much it is for a coffee and a tea we've got a few holiday shops down the left-hand side here we've got a post office if you need to send anything away w smith as well your card shop we've got tesco it's up to 10 o'clock at night if you're looking for stuff to take back to your hotel room you need some supplies for the day if you're heading out hell walking going up ben nevis be pharmacy here boots need any medical supplies prescriptions you've been here as well we've got a nice sweet park here as well just walk through it look at the views there over the hill nice we're also going to aiming core close shot down here as well on the left hand side this is a nice wee park if you'd like to recommend anywhere or scotland walks let me know i might visit it as i said we've got lots of videos in edinburgh glasgow city centre some other places lost near loch lomond down the ayrshire coast presbyterian air we'll have more coming soon as well that's the church of scotland they're just ahead of us let's check out that's the memorial here okay so this is the second world war memorial memory of the men of fort william and district who made the supreme sacrifice for god king country in the great war so we've got foster world war mentioned and also second world war it's basically just a war memorial it sits just in front of the church as you can see in the distance you've got to be cable car here now that's just the advertisement to do a cable car up to ben nevis we've got the alexandra tail got an auto tail it's been here a long time looks quite nice great location just at the end of the high street now if you're getting the train to fort william you've got the train station across the road as you can see it's really central you don't have to get taxis anywhere once you arrive here we're basically right the center of it you get the fort volume travel center across the road as well so as you can see it's a nice area taking you walk round to the front traffic's getting busier now it's now about half past seven in the morning over the roundabout they're just beyond it you've actually got a morrison supermarket and a mcdonald's if you're looking for some snacks they have a good signs to environment still quite a drive to investigate so we're about 104 miles from glasgow fort william but because the roads are quite windy it's not like a big massive dual carriageway or a motorway it's going to take you two and a half three hours to drive up here it's a nice drive quite scenic we've got loch lennie over here you can take a wee cruise here for an hour or two as well we've got a seafood restaurant just up the road as well so thanks for watching guys so we walked today thought say hello to
