Former Yakima cop suspected of double homicide caught in Eugene, Ore.

We begin this hour with breaking news. Within the last half hour, we learned the ex cop accused of murdering two people and abducting a one year old child was found in Oregon. Thanks for being with us. I'm Jessica Janner Castro and I'm Sebastian Robertson. The violent crime spree started about 24 hours ago. That was in Eastern Washington King. Five's Natalie swab is live with the newest details just now coming into the newsroom. Natalie. That's right. The missing child was found safe. Law enforcement says the suspect had a self inflicted gunshot wound. We do not know his current condition. Now this case all began Monday afternoon, Washington state patrol put out the poster for everyone to see. One year old Roman Huizar is the child. The man suspected of taking him is former Yakima police officer Elias Huizar, who's also a suspect in a double murder. Police say on Monday just before 330 in West Richland, Elias Huizar showed up at the elementary school where his ex wife worked and shot and killed her friends say the victim is Amber Rodriguez. Police say they found a second victim at Oar's house. A 17 year old girl who's Roman's mother, the child she had with Elias Wear. Now wear was expected in court on Monday to face charges and yet another case in February, he was charged with child rape. The Washington State patrol issued an amber alert for Roman on Monday. And this afternoon, Oregon State patrol spotted the suspect driving southbound on I five near Eugene troopers say there was a pursuit that ended with the suspect sustaining a self inflicted gunshot wound to the head. The child was recovered safely in West Richland. The district superintendent talked about the tragedy that happened on campus yesterday. This is a tragedy. No community should have to experience. We want to start by acknowledging the bravery we saw yesterday. Our students, staff members and families showed an incredible amount of courage and strength when faced with immense fear and grief.
