Ford 3400 Tractor Restoration and Drive

I guys wanted to shoot a video about my for 3400 backhoe that I restored over the last year I bought this thing at March of 2018 and have been looking for a backhoe for about a year now came across this one on Craigslist 600 bucks the description basically said the motor was locked up and it'd be a good restoration project and it definitely was for me what happened was the muffler rusted off and there was nothing from keeping the water from filling up in the engine so called the guy on the Craigslist ad said are you available tomorrow for me to come take a look at it headed over there with my trailer decided it was something I wanted to take on as my next restoration project I got it loaded up on my truck then headed back to my grandfather's farm with it got it off the trailer started to disassemble it took the backhoe off of it took the roll bars off and then from there just started stripping it down so once I got everything stripped down I gave it all a coat of a rust-oleum rusty metal primer I usually put this stuff on just about anything that I'm restoring whether it's rusty pain and does a great job of bonding to whatever existing material is on whatever I'm painting then after that gave the tractor part a coat of Ford blue that's the color I decided to go with it was originally yellow on this particular 3400 but my grandfather's body of his 3400 is blue and I like the contrast of that a lot better so that's why I decided to go with for this one got the tires back on it to see if it would drive around and make sure there was no other major components or loud knocking noises or anything of that sort overall I couldn't be happier with how it turned out you know she's not showroom quality but if it was I wouldn't want to use it every day around here it does have the 8-speed transmission high-low for forward to reverse I'm sorry eight forward to reverse with the high and low power steering I put the zenith carburetor on it it came with the Holley but when the engine locked up it completely rusted the highly carburetor part I couldn't even rebuild it it was rusted so Beth gave it a wash shortly before this video so that's why it's wet I'll be making another video later about the fenders and if you look up here we have the crowd hydraulic cylinder off the seals blew out when we were loading the backhoe on my trailer to bring it back to the farm here so I've been working on rebuilding that first tractor I ever learned on was a Ford 3400 my grandpa had one first tractor I ever drove in my life and I think it's pretty cool that I was able to find one for me to use for the you know hopefully rest of my life and put it to great use around here and wherever I might even eat to use it in the future you
