Please note that this website is currently a work in progress! Lots of interesting data and statistics to come.
I've worked in manufacturing where the only difference between products is literally the packaging. I thought some people have shown Aldi generics are the exact same as some national brands, just with different packaging?
Generic food products first appeared here in the late 70s for about 1/2 price. Our family started buying them right away. We decided to try every product in generic form that we would normally buy a name brand. It was a fun experiment eating something then deciding as a family whether it measured up or not. Very few generics failed the test. I have been buying mostly generics for 40 years now, and Aldi is by far my favorite store!
He hit the nail on the head about millennials, I absolutely go out of my way to avoid name brands. I try to avoid them like the plague because I just fucking H.A.T.E. US advertising and marketing, I hate it down to my blood and soul.
I hate that national brands get away with shitty marketing tactics and suffocating their competition just because they're a multi-billion dollar company, using its influence to manipulate shoppers.
I hate how advertising and marketing aggressively
attackstargets children to the point where THEY are the most brand loyal demographic out of the bunch. This is why I love Aldi. I love Netflix. I love any platform that separates me from ads, marketing and the insidious power of conglomerate brands.
Thanks for sharing this! That was a great watch.
