[Music] hello my name is Emma all right this video might be kind of controversial but try and hear me out the Five Nights at Freddy's franchise has been very popular over the years whether it be something to dunk on or something of praise the games at its core have a very rich atmosphere with great character designs for the most part and and the story line has some amazing Concepts and really unique ideas that brought something new to the table when it was first coming out the games have their problems we'll touch on some of that for sure but I want to talk about the lore if you know FNAF in any capacity you have probably heard the phrase FNAF lore at some point it's the most mysterious part of this franchise for good reason since almost nothing of speculation is concretely confirmed Scott cin the creator of FNA understandably did not have this franchise planned out very well especially to the extent that it is today with Five Nights at Freddy's one being a last Harrah for a quote unquote failed game developer he didn't know it would become the Juggernaut it is today so I can't fault him for some of the Direction the Story went but man do I have issues with it I love Five Nights at Freddy's I love a lot about it but over time there's been a lot of things in the L that really bug me and take me right out of the story the way it's told the little it is feels so messy and needlessly complicated So today we're going to go over some of my problems with this lore and some of the things I would do a little differently with this concept I will be doing some art I'm going to be reimagining some of the characters but this isn't going to be like a full-on redesign video or anything I also expect you to have a little knowledge of this Lord though I will be be explaining as much as possible it might be helpful but if you click this video I'm sure you know at least the gist I'm also basing all my research on Matt Pat's timeline just because I think his has to be the most compelling argument and the most thorough editing Emma here so mattad just put out a video about the hate he's getting for some of his theories and I was not aware that any of this was going on I didn't know that people really hated the things he's saying about ruin and security breach I don't know why all these theories suddenly are being so hated on because of the way the franchise is going I don't think what he's saying is surprising at all and at the end of the day they're just theories they're just trying to make sense of this mess of a story so I don't know I still trust his judgment the dedication he's put into the series is nothing to laugh at so I I just thought I would would address that since it came out literally when I was finished recording this audio okay back to the video if any of my info is dated let me know in the comments I'm just a person I make mistakes and the info dump that is FNAF is really confusing so I will definitely get something wrong it's kind of inevitable just try to be kind in the comments and if you don't agree with everything I'm saying that's completely fine I'm just using this video as an Avenue to get some of these feelings out all right enough explaining let's get to complaining FNAF apparently started all the way back in the 30s which I think is interesting it's a franchise similar to Mickey Mouse and kept up with each generation passed down to an animatronic band this is a cool idea it's very on par with what happens in the real world it makes sense we are introduced to William Aton I mean in the real story we're not really introduced to him at all and not for a long time but this is the hypothetical storyline I'm going over William Aton aka the purple guy is our main antagonist as I'm sure a lot of you know and is either the Creator or co-creator of Freddy fazbears from what I can gather the animatronics start out very simple but begin to get more and more advanced throughout which is a natural progression I think walking around is believable for the animatronics even though that doesn't really happen in real life it's key to gameplay obviously but the more and more advanced the animatronics get the more problems I have but we'll touch on that later it's also known that William has a partner named Henry who we know little about also Matt Pat infers that there might have been a rivalry between them which is possible and ties in well with the story and the business side of things especially if Henry had his own restaurants but later merged them with William similar to Chuck-E-Cheese and chiz Pizza in the real world this is all fine to me it's very grounded down to earth if this is Canon I like it the first tragedy in the story from the evidence we have is the bite of 83 was that the B not no not fredbear and spring Bonnie are the first known animatronics I'm pretty sure and though we don't have actual models of these characters only video game sprites they might be my favorite animatronics just because leaves a lot to the imagination plus they have spring lock capabilities which if you don't know what that is it's basically animatronics that can become wearable costumes for employees that concept right there is what got me hooked on the series it feels like this is something that could have really been a thing and for it to be something poorly designed and poorly managed makes it more scary because it feels like a real danger anyway William's son gets bit by fredbear by by his brother Michael putting him in the mouth as a harmless prank this kills his brother and Michael is riddled with guilt really shows how heavy these animatronics are and how deadly they are if you were to have them fall on you or something they're janky they don't have a lot of agency like they receive later in the series and I think that's really creepy it feels uncanny and the uncanniness is something I wish the series kept up with because that's really what made a lot of it scary this sends William Aton spiraling and leads to the first kid he kills Henry's daughter outside of one of the pizza places apparently her death was framed as a random act of violence right so you're telling me in a universe where animatronic pizza restaurant show performers that's all they're meant for that have criminal databases with facial recognition and security capabilities in turn shouldn't the the police also be at least close to this level of advanced the ' 80s and '90s were not techsavvy they were getting there but obviously they're not on this level investigators in the 80s and 990s didn't have the same methods or Tech that we have today to solve cases but I could suspend my disbelief if the rest of the universe was on the same level of this crappy entertainment company however they couldn't possibly be why because this guy would have been caught a long time ago if you can't do the time don't do the crime okay time's up it's hard to get away with murder for good reason and if this universe is some futuristic 80s why wouldn't he be in jail I think if William was a little more calculated with his killings it would make more sense that he gets away with it for so long you know Dexter style or something but from what is shown in the games he kills willy-nilly with little to no consequence es I know this might sound a little ridiculous what do you mean how would any of the events in this game happen if he got caught that's a good point but having a more thought out reason to why he's not getting caught is kind of important and we just never get that information if we just had a reason maybe I wouldn't have this as a point but we don't I don't hate the concept of these murders either it's interesting and twisted but it doesn't make sense if we had more more context or story Clues maybe it would but unfortunately it's very rare in this lore we don't know half of the children who are killed their names their families nothing they are vessels to move this story along and though extremely vital often times they're overlooked personally I think it's an untapped Market but with that being said there's some points i' like to go over with the way that true crime is turning in the views of people it being something morally wrong to have someone's murder be the source of entertainment why am I endorsing something so dark as being important to this story well one it's fictional these kids aren't real this game isn't even based on any true events so as long as you recognize that tragedies happen and should be handled with care and take similar care and not glorifying them it shouldn't be problematic to think this is an interesting idea and two the FNAF Community treats these murders as very matter of fact these days generally they don't dig that deep or think that much about it and the attitude largely comes from the games itself FNAF doesn't take itself seriously it hasn't for a long time this gets praised yes do I like it not really the meme humor of exotic Butters Scott being cannon in the games and well the whole of Pizzeria Sim it's all a big joke the series doesn't take these murders seriously think about all the times they have revived it brought Freddy's back if this was a real business it would have been dead and buried by the second murder so if what we're consuming doesn't take missing children child murder to Heart why would the viewer in turn I think critical thinking is needed a lot but it gives some perspective on why the fandom takes it so lightly most of the time William begins murdering a lot taking random children stuffing them into the animatronic suits taking his rage out for all the hurt he's gone through as much as I know squimpus MCM this is problematic now why are they all like this there FNAF VHS series is nothing to be overlooked the motive he gave William for killing the kids is so dark taking his anger out on children because he can't take it out on his son who murdered his favorite child that's good storytelling that's what I'd like to believe is the first motive for William at least but guess what we'll probably never know it's believed that Henry throws William out of the company after the missing kids go to headlines suspecting him of the crimes that's not surprising but William doesn't want to stop he wants to go back to Freddy's this time disguised as a security guard to keep his killing up that's where this badge comes from from his video game Sprite I'm pretty sure at this point we're at FNAF 2 but again it's all up in the air Afton now knows his animatronics are different they're acting weird they're acting more lifelike the Living Dead we as a viewer knew that of course but it's clear at this point afon becomes aware as well The Bite of 87 which is never explicitly shown at least not yet was a security guard getting bit by one of the animatronics a lot of people say it's mangle I don't know if it's been confirmed but do with that what you will the animatronic probably mistakenly thought it was William Aton in my opinion this shows that the children in the animatronics are there but can only barely see anything clearly probably moved by feelings and memories but aren't aware of what's Happening really this makes it feel really tragic and would be a rare perspective of the children's feelings and I wish that we went into that a little more once Remnant is introduced to this series is when I really start to pull my hair out surprising since I just rambled about the parts I like about this story having problems but we're going to start getting into my big problems now Remnant oh Remnant God when Aton sees the animatronics now and sees they're acting differently more lifelike whatever he realizes he needs to harness this power by Sister location it shows his Blueprints and plans that he discovered a way to give things life Remnant he begins to seek Remnant out becoming a mad scientist of sorts because murdering just wasn't enough for his character uh-uh does this make sense narratively yes but it's redundant we already know the animatronics are haunted there doesn't need to be this Grand explanation for it being haunted in itself means mystery that's the appeal giving Remnant a physical form making it away to bring things life is ridiculous and over complicated again taking the concept of child murders slapping a coat of paint over it making it seem Technical and scientific when it's actually horrific it's such a weird way of flipping perception and I'm sorry if you like this concept more power to you but I just can't get behind it um believe me I've tried all right purple guy do scene woo man behind the slaughter gets owned in this miname William Apton is getting chased by the ghost he has murdered he jumps into his former murdering suit spring Bonnie but the suit malfunctions puncturing his body and killing him this is such a good payoff the man who caused so much pain dies in the same way he caused others to trapping him forever if only all character deaths were this compelling well let's talk about as I've said Lots die in the story but after William Apton dies the other highlighted deaths start to feel lacking in substance the bite of 83 was good it shows how the animatronics are in the minds of some children and how easy Misfortune is in these restaurants but when it comes to Elizabeth's death or Michael aton's death it seems to just want to free recreate the same shock that the spring lock failure did and yes it was shocking to a lot of people playing the games at the time but when you really step back and look at these moments they're a bit of a reach Funtime animatronics are made for capturing children it's established in the blueprints in Sister location Elizabeth is William aton's daughter and gets basically eaten by a circus baby killing her and merging her with the animatronic side note by Sister location the designs of the animatron ICS are no longer made to look quote unquote real they look like robots shiny joints exposed but I think it would be cool if baby and balora had been redesigned to look more human like designs of the ' 80s and '90s when they were just starting out these are uncanny as hell imagine how yucky these guys could look I like the OG designs they're really cool but I feel like this was a little bit of a missed opportunity back to the character deaths Elizabeth's death is is not surprising as well baby is supposed to be an animatronic made to capture children that's all she was meant for so it doesn't have the same unnerving feeling that the first bite or springtraps death had these things weren't supposed to happen this is supposed to be wholesome family fun restaurant but the Funtime animatronics are made for harm so it takes a way that oh this isn't right kind of feeling again if you disagree that's fine as for Michael's death William's son he gets scooped in the scooper room what's the scooper it's basically an arm William afon created to extract Remnant from animatronics Michael gets scooped and is filled with animatronic bits and Spirits he's dead but is basically a zombie now oh God the reverse of his father basically narratively makes sense an inverse of an iconic scene and apply it to another character but this feels really unrealistic even for FNAF standards wouldn't Michael's body just shut down at this point especially if he spat out the guts and they were just no longer a part of him matat suggests he goes on living as this purple corpse that smells and looks crazy somehow still being able to get a job without any question I don't know this is when it becomes too broad and setting in my opinion as well all the events previously have been set to a single pizza place or basement or house now the animatronics are roaming freely what does the public think about this is this a safety concern to anyone just the thought in FNAF 3 this is when FNAF 3 is believed to be incern in the timeline it is introduced as a horror attraction based off the missing children case in universe so insensitive I don't know maybe humans in the FNAF Universe are trying to win the I don't I don't give a Awards but personally I would have just had a company gain Fazbear's assets and go on making a horror attraction with the remaining parts finding springtrap and making him part of it without it having to be about missing children Fazbear frights gets burned down killing William for good this time right wrongo say it with me I always come yeah I don't know why Scott decides to change change their designs randomly probably to keep things fresh but it just gets confusing I think about everyone hates springtrap's new design I know I do but I don't see a lot of people comment on scrap babies this thing is a mess there's so much going on it makes no sense if this is supposed to be the same baby in Sister location I think my least favorite part is the hair it's so thick on her head like what did baby do to herself did she choose to have roller skates in a claw hand what I know I've probably disappointed you with this um take but I'm sorry I I I can't like this design I really love molten Freddy though that thing is freaky I'm probably going to make you hate me even more on the next segment I love the rule less is more the less you have with settings characters events the more impact major story beats have as we've established this rule does not apply to FNAF I think to start with security breach we have to start with Help Wanted since this is the game that sets up security breach basically I actually really like help wanted I think it's a really cool concept and really immersive I love the repair games and vent repair game I think it adds what this series was lacking games that have to do with being an actual employee and doing what employees do but and I always have a butt the story around this VR game is it is a game well what do you mean by that this whole thing this whole night shift fixing animatronic Parts what have you it's established as a simulation in the game that's why we have recreated many of these completely fictitious scenarios lies that you've been f over the last several years into a hilarious VR game based off of The Five Nights at Freddy's games in the universe created by a rogue indie game developer that's right Scott Scott is canon in the games he made these games in the games you aren't experiencing any of these events that also means that any major story beats could also be up in the air just the interpret ation of a game developer and suddenly it's twisted even more in a gigantic pretzel because what the hell all right I I need to calm down there was so much there was so much there it's so wasted could the game's being fictional canonically be wrong yes maybe not all the video games are fictional but it's at least heavily implied and I hate it when I heard this info in the VR game it took me right out of it I don't want this to be a simulation it already is I want to feel like this is the real thing like I am there like VR is supposed to be I don't want to be told that this is some experiment that this is a video game it's stupid and completely wrecks the point of a VR game I think Help Wanted is a great example why not everything has to connect it doesn't have to progress this broken story just have have it retell the events of the first games but more clearly now you have all the cards right there but they never get used that's what's so frustrating about Five Nights at Freddy's I was really excited for security breach a new chapter you can walk around it looked really immersive and fun and well it was for the most part I love the designs of the new characters and the atmosphere of the mall is amazing the amount of details that went into just the mall alone is nothing to sneeze at but I'm going to say something that has been said a lot the animatronics are not scary I know the FNAF Community hates this phrase and I completely get it but hear me out like with the circus animatronics they look like they're supposed to be robots I have the same problem with the Glam rocks they're too clean and Polished they have no uncanny elements to them that made the others so scary even their destroyed versions feel a bit forced like they were relying on them being broken to have that scare Factor yes I'm aware security breach is taking the franchise into a completely new Direction but these games are supposed to be scary it's labeled as a horror game I think the only design and security breach that gives me that Vibe is the sun/ moon animatronic it looks old it has that creepy uncanny face that I hadn't seen for a while it's surprising to see a design like this amongst the other glamrocks he would fit into a old Freddy Fazbear location no problem so it makes me wonder if he was repurposed or something since he's so different from the rest I really do appreciate this design though it's my favorite in the whole security breach and ruined franchise I also don't like it being set in the future it takes away from the creepy nostalgic feel that the other games had security breach just isn't scary to me I know some of you might be saying well the first games of FF weren't even that scary you just think it was because your child brain is telling you that I want you to Picture This imagine a security breach but it's still the 80s and '90s yes these are Hightech animatronics for the time and are supposed to look real but are too realistic they look uncanny they talk and walk around but are similar to a Furby they can't do all that much except vaguely know when someone is there imagine a crappy fun land in your hometown sure it's a mess a bit run down but it's it's the coolest thing you have to do it's based off of a tainted brand and is trying to get as far away from the missing children allegations as possible security breach would be so much better on a smaller scale like this as much as I love the atmosphere in the mall it's too big it doesn't make any sense these were crappy pizza places before this how and why would they have the funding to make an establishment this big the game is underdeveloped and overdoing it at the same time the pizz Plex is overdesigned and the story is barely there the main villain of this game is vany the gray bunny girl she was extremely hyped up when the game was first coming out but as people started playing the game they noticed how little of a threat she was barely popping up and only kind of having a presence in some of the ending shots when I first started watching Markiplier play this game I was excited at the possibilities it seem so cool but the further I got the more tired I got even Markiplier was underwhelmed by these endings and he's reaction [Music] King I win the ruined DLC was very well received and I definitely liked parts of it I like the destroyed dirty Pizza Plex but just as before I found myself rolling my eyes once more AR is introduced by this bunny mask the player puts on allowing you to pass through objects in the real world what implications does this have in the universe though how does this work what whatever why even bother at this point there's a whole bunch of things that happen ruined but I'm just going to skip to the end and uh to maybe the hottest take in the video I don't like the mimic at all it's a cool idea sure but it doesn't have the backing to make it compelling at all it's just a lazy twist sure no one saw coming but that doesn't make it good I know we've established I like the Paranormal elements over sci-fi but with proper execution this would be so cool for example one of of my favorite short stories called there will come soft Reigns is a perfect example of creating an unsettling Vibe with sci-fi elements if you're not familiar with the story it follows a house that still stands after a nuclear bomb hits the story was written in the 50s but is set in the future of 2026 this house is automated with a routine that never changes the family who lives in this house is dead and gone being outside when the attack happened but the house still continues on its time schedule as if nothing happened still putting out the paper and cigar cooking dinner for absolutely no one the AI has no clue that the people they watched over are dead even thinking about this story fills me with a bit of dread and sadness so yes it is possible for AI and sci-fi to be creepy but it needs to be well done the mimic is just there in my opinion I know the mimic is the first time the FNAF books are being recognized as lore relevant by the fandom at large I've never read the books I probably never will but I really hate the way they indirectly tell the story the books just toy and hint at ideas without them having to have any weight on the overall floor and I get it Scott doesn't want to reveal the story that's the appeal of this franchise to figure it out but it just bothers me I honestly don't know what I do differently with this new wave of FNAF other than cut it out completely or overhaul it almost entirely I think what makes me the most upset about FNAF Lor is the wasted potential that the first three games had it had so much going for it there's so much untapped gameplay that could have been done with this Vibe alone a walk around game like security breach but you're going to different Freddy locations doing repairs dodging animatronics it would feel so scary and immersive hell I've played Roblox games where the only difference in gameplay is that you can move around freely and it was hella scary think of the possibilities wasted because of the route we went with security breach I just hope one day that this era will come back again I know it will eventually everything does but until then I guess I'll just take what I can get so where does this leave us the FNAF movie is coming out very soon and it's my last thread of Hope for this franchise I'm very excited yes but I'm very scared also I just hope these movies will bring this series back down to earth if Scott had hindsight this series would be much better of course that's why creators like battington can take this concept and create something so bone chilling and actually scary they have an outside view of what's good and bad I love this series I have for for a long time but to love something means to see its faults at the same time this franchise and Community have a lot great about them the amount of Creations I've seen that I wish were a part of the actual series are amazing I think a lot of you can see what I'm saying just know if you identify as a FNAF fan I'm not attacking you at all if you disagree that's fine but please be kind we all have our own opinions just because yours differs doesn't mean we're not on the same Common Ground here of love this cool game series I almost want to do a video redesigning some of the animatronics now because some of them need it pretty badly thanks for watching this video everyone these things have been weighing on me for a while so it was nice to get them off my chest leave a comment on what you think and if I should do that redesign thank you so much for 13k oh my God every video every video I swear thanks for all the support on my last video too what that's crazy I hope you don't hate me after this one more art content coming soon like subscribe and as always [Music] peace
