Fly to the Top of the Volcano

my goal is to reach the highest peak of valley the active agung volcano you can see this giant from anywhere on the island [Music] first idea can my drone make it to the top can i see what's inside the crater agung is 3000 meters above sea level dji drones cannot fly higher than 500 meters but luckily for the past five months i've been flying fpv drones these are special long-range drones the smallest one from this family is 4-inch flywoo explorer followed by 5-inch chimera these little guys feel quite good in the mountains you can explore unreachable peaks and stay in the air quite long while filming everything of course yes i've made my choice i think these bad boys will help me to reach the top but before i need to warm up a bit let's head out to the ocean first the lovato region cliffs and rocky seaside makes the spot perfect for fpv [Music] with the right batteries both of these drones can stay in the air for about 30 minutes it depends on how you fly if you hit your sticks hard and use the brakes a lot the batteries will drain faster [Music] [Music] fpv drones use two types of batteries lithium polymer and lithium ion with lithium ion we get twice the amount of power with the same weight as for lithium polymer it has higher current output so you can hit the gas and make your drone more maneuverable [Music] for longer range and better quality video i got new antennas ifly crystal patch these antennas have a mono directional signal so you can go further away exactly what i need [Music] another thing i need is a long range controller my choice is tbs tango 2 i consider it my best investment it's very compact and sticks are foldable maybe even more convenient than on dji rc controllers what's important for me is the signal with the crossfire protocol it first batur its height is 1700 meters we got stuck on the way volcanic sand is too much for my bike i don't know how to get down [Music] so this is the parking lot next to batur i think i can fly from here to the summit because i already have lots of batteries i got myself a special fireproof bag from ifly [Music] sweet i like it [Music] had no problems flying to the top so started circling the crater i flew over the front edge of the crater and lost the picture telemetry no signal rf signal critical it turned out that when i hit the gas thinking i'm gonna go up to restore the signal the drone went further away spinning and falling behind the crater at this moment controller indicated that the connection had been lost and returned to home had been activated the drone flew to the starting point and i got my signal back my mistake i admitted i should have hit the return button as soon as i lost the picture turns out return to home activates only after the controller loses connection with the drone [Music] [Applause] [Music] you stupid fly [Music] that was a good one it's so beautiful up there a bit foggy when i lost the signal i thought my drone dropped into the crater and burned yes it is important to have a gps model on a long range drone on your headset screen there are arrows showing you the starting point that helped me a lot when i flew into the mist the hotel we're staying at has hot springs this swimming pool is hot back home if you drill a hole you get only cold water here boiling water all because of the volcano nearby since we're already here i decided to fly over the lake also named batur [Music] we got to the hotel near agun volcano as you can see there is a swimming pool and a beautiful view down below there is a mountain river and i'm planning to fly my fpv along it [Music] [Music] thank uh [Music] now i have more experience and i can try to conquer the higher speak of valley we got to the highest point where you can get to by car or a bike it's the start of a short route which is 4 hours to the summit i can see the ocean from here the volcano seems so close this is the nearest temple to the volcano it's considered a sacred place balinese people believe that gods live at the top that's why they regularly climb and drop gifts even sacrifices inside the crater [Music] [Music] wow i can see the crater it's a bit windy [Music] [Applause] [Music] that was my most terrifying flight [Music] don't think i have enough charged [Music] i decided to use lithium polymer battery and hardly made it back i had no problems flying there but on the way back i almost drained the battery i thought i lost it next light 5 inch chimera 3 000 lithium battery and the gopro [Music] i think it was the best one sweaty flight i spoke with local fpv pilots one told me that he doesn't have the balls to fly there fortunately i didn't lose anything when you're at the bottom it doesn't seem that big but when you fly there it's just never ending i
