currently the collection has 442 cars we keep them all in running and driving condition and that's by the owner Mr pillock's choice you know there's some collection turn key correct and not only do you see American Muscle Cars you see some of the Porsches in here you see some of the Porsche tractors I mean you say some of the Porsches that's a serious lineup of [Applause] [Music] Porsche great to meet Ed hello and welcome to American muscle car museum here you are in Melbourne Florida let's come on inside we'll show you some cars check it out thank you as you can see walking into the front showroom this is a very Ford heavy room here and of course what do we have on the turntable one of the original all aluminum Allen man cars you'll get back to that a little bit later but that's surrounded by 2005 and 2006 Ford GT one and every of the production Color Wow we've got neon signs we got gas pump memorabilia Juke boox little bumper car let's make a quick run The Collection started way back actually when Mark was very young and he started out with his Matchbox cars and obviously it has grown to over 422 cars currently what do we do here at the American muscle car museum we do four things obviously we educate preserve and in a sense share a future Generations what the cars are so we do Educational Tours from first grade all the way up to college as a matter of fact yesterday we had University of Delaware Motorsports team in here second thing we do is auto events outside it could be a car show to an autocross third thing would be fundraising we do fundraising for the local community here we pay for the food and all that stuff and 100% of that money goes to them we average about a million dollars a year that goes directly to the Charities right here in Bard County last thing we do is thank yous and what I mean by that I like having our fire our police and everybody else that we can use so we go ahead and we do thank yous for them and our largest event of the year is the Veterans Day open house for our American veterans and their families we get about 3 to 4,000 people through the door and we're going to talk about the cars now 1966 this is one of the continuation cars in here okay but as we like it there it really shows you know hey part of the history and of course hey some of the Coca-Cola machines do something about the vintage Coke branding it's so cool it it really is and there's a 1941 that we actually just picked up in Arkansas and had restored and we're going to come over here under the Coca-Cola sign what do we have here one of the Shelby series ones these were built in 1999 and this is one of the cars that Carol Shelby did not start out with a Ford or did not start out with a Dodge he made his own car they made 249 of these cars so we very very fortunate to have one of less than 500 original miles one of the unique things of this cars is they have a Hertz rating for the stiffness of the frames this particular car has a 52 Herz rating by comparison the same year of Corvette in 2000 would had a 25 to a 27 depending if it's a convertible or Coupe so this is going to go over set of Roto tracks and it's not going to twist at all incredible Cobra collection Here original 1966 427 Cobra one of the Allen Grant 63s and then a 62 how' you go about sourcing these cars this is just this is just just being procured over DEC over time you know the owner loves everything there and he knows how to find stuff there and these are some of the Heritage that had the paint schemes going back to the 24 hours of L man winners how many of the Gen 2 for GTs are in the uh there's 15 15 of them and we've have 25 total of the four GTS across the aisle here we have one of the Prototype 65 Shelby Mustangs are you kidding me no that's an original prototype this is original prototype I mean again how'd you go finding one of those you know this is stuff that's taken Mark pilac the owner and founder a lifetime to achieve this and get something like this oh c come on into the main showroom here oh the effect of the Neons in the dark is Drop Dead good it's stunning and this is a very large building we 500 East to West 180 ft north to south and 32 ft top to bottom oh wow are you are kidding me currently the collection has 442 cars we keep them all in running and driving condition and that's by the owner Mr pac's choice you know there some colle old turn key correct and not only do you see American Muscle Cars you see some of the Porsches in here you see some of the Porsche tractors um I mean you say some of the Porsches that's a serious lineup of Porsches that's a serious line of Porsches and the Porsche tractors we have are all the models and what I mean by that are from 1957 to 1963 they made in a sense four different styles it would be one cylinder which would be a junior two-cylinder to be a standard uh three-cylinder to be a super and a four-cylinder to be a master carrer GTS some of their unique 911s uh newest edition 2024 tribute car oh wow these are the sport Classics are amazing car I love the colors on them I love the hounds tooth interior you know even growing up as a Camaro Corvette person these really capture my heart got 3.8 the 4 lit this is the last of the meter engine yeah 997s I only made 600 of those and of course one of the uh Carrera Americas he really has captured in a sense the the colors we've had some kids groups come in here and actually name this the Skittles role because all the colors the color drink it's like you've got your own pts showroom here it's unbelievable and we have a lot of pts or painted sample cars in here so special so it's I guess it's coincidental timing that portra have just launched the 9911 St off the back of the 992 RS platform which is effectively the successor to this car I have never seen a spectrum of Porsches in one place like this well we haven't even made it all the way around the corner yet we haven't even got started yet you literally have a decent percentage of overall production of 4 GTS here we do we've got 10 of them back here and we tried to get every one of the production colors and here again we also have some of the paint to sample colors what I mean by that we have the Soko blue on the end we have one of the paint to sample Grays and of course we got some more Porsches coming over here unbelievable absolutely unbelievable wow so we we arrived here really with very little conception as to what this place would be so to walk in here right now uh I mean anyone watching this you are literally watching this as it unfolds we haven't done a a pre-walking talk of this it's mindblowing no and that's something else we are open in a sense like a football or a soccer stadium we're open per events we're not open on a daily basis right so as we have events car shows anything like that you can purchase a ticket or sign up for it and go for there but on a daily basis no so this you know gives a little more excl exclusive and it also really helps the fundraising and the excitement as people come in here I mean obviously the name of this being the American muscle car museum did the did did the collection originally start out with a foundation specifically for muscle cars and then it grew from there it grew from there and here again Mark the owner and founder has a true love for it and he also has a true love for being able to share with you know here again other Generations is something we want to do love doing the tours for the kids as far as you know the third fourth fifth graders it's amazing as we'll have 17 kids but all a sudden hey we got 20 dads wait a minute the math doesn't work out but it's excitement that they come out quite a few Mustangs quite a few cobras and the majority of these have less than 100 original miles on it really yeah so what percentage of the cars get driven you mentioned earlier that they will all turn key start they all turn key start all the cars get serviced at least once a year but they get a major service every 5 years and what I mean by that all the fluids are flushed brake fluid coolant fuel and they're all taken care of and gone for like that you may see a car with like 2 miles on it 4 M 7 on them will'll use the car mover to get outside but at least it still runs and drives yes something like the original Cobra up front has 33,000 original miles on we can get a few miles around it and as you see the 42 acre complex outside there's plenty of room to drive is it 42 Acres it is phenomenal so if you want to do a quick Shakedown you can just head outside without having to take it out on the okay Street yeah some of the modern Shel we have here here is a very unique Shelby GT500 and a sunlet gold this was purchased Brand New by a person named Colonel Edward Little John II who is Colonel Edward Little John thei he was the influential of the Navy's Top Gun program next to it of course you keep your woman happy you're happy this is a 1968 GT500 KR Shelby this is done in Royal maroon which was not a production color however Carol Shelby secretary at the time or business manager or real nice to say of who he was sleeping with Joan Sherman this was her favorite nail polish color so in a sense he had three of these produced two of them were cooped one convertible this is that car this is that actual car and the following year became a production color hey we got it back to the Future car come on we can't not talk about the DeLorean is this a specific DeLorean or a this is one of the DMC 12s and the uniqueness about this car has less than 200 original miles so this is truly a Time piece and let me open up this car care kit for you which we'll find fascinating in a sense okay is this dried out and unusable yeah but it's also something but it's also a time capsule huh you can even see where some of it's kind of leaked out a little bit so this is the original care kit that came with the car correct so that's to reapply the brushed effect on the Bonnet correct neat piece of History it's very cool isn't it earlier on you touched on there was a regular servicing schedule here and with over 400 cars that must be a full-time gig right there's actually two of us uh Ryan you'll get to meet a little bit later okay and in a sense Ryan and myself take care of the cars and we do have someone recently graduated from college in the auto field and he will be joining us here shortly wow so there's three of us taking care of over 400 cars we don't do any outside work we just take care of his stuff that must be an incredibly satisfying process it is it's very humbling yeah and in a sense say an old 55 Chevy pretty straightforward pretty basic mechanic car if you just work through it you can figure out and like any of these cars I also try to give back but I have so many people that I call and they will reach out to me they'll work with me hey Ed this is what we did this is who we use you know as of course parts are getting harder to find for some of the old rare cars uhhuh internet is wonderful but you still want the Right facts sure absolutely here's some of our Indie pace cars there's actually three different kinds you can get a dealer car and what would that be it' be something you'd buy at the dealer that has decaled up mhm you can get a Heritage addition which would be they could give 50 they could give 100 to the local community that would go around and say give to an sense the mayor the senator someone in town and drive them out there brilliant marketing plan okay and then you can have a track car okay is to get a track car is very hard to do we actually have one of them up here and of course you can see GM is very heavy in it yes one of the track cars we have of all things is a Barda SUV this was a pace car as you come right down to it you can see the number two yes this would have been the backup track car it still has autom modification all the lights to it and everything else but here again this was two things not only did we have the first SUV this was the first they call it female celebrity John Cougar melan Camp's wife at the time who was the American singer it was his wife that drove it we come back to the antique Radio collection these are pre-World War II and it's just so you know at the time what you had for entertainment and radios these are pre- World War II oh yeah look at these got 1936 Art Deco 3940 you know we're spoiled with our little smartph phones and our earbuds and everything else compared to what they have come on this way we'll show you a whole different look oh I've just noticed you've got a ganty that runs around this place we're going to see how good your cameraman is okay oh K you can really get a sense of scale up here but if you take a look at it here here again you can see the cars up on the higher lift and just the overall span or spectrum of it it's it's incredible are you able to fit all of the cars in or do you have overspill there's about 400 in here and the remainder of them are out in the maintenance shop which we'll take a quick look at and so this collection has taken what are we talking 40 50 years in a sense yes marks you know a lifetime of doing it wow that is exceptional there's something about the neon signs which just finish this place off that's so awesome it does and he has it where the cars are the stars if that makes sense you're not seeing any dealership backgrounds or anything like that but this is his choice obviously there's all sorts of brands in here but there is a a very heavy Ford Thing Mark grew up in a Ford family his uncle had a salvage Ard that had a lot of Fords and that's his first love is the Fords okay his favorite yes day one day one and you can see the 1966 Cobra up from that's his favorite car even though he's about 67 and doesn't fit in it that's still his favorite car you know we're coming along up some of the other early Corvettes right now you see the white 54 yes just to the other side of that's the red or split window 1963 next to that's the black Trans Am that's one of the modern Trans Ams from TransAm worldwide uh they're located right here in Florida and they built 77 of those Bandit cars and that is number 57 and that is one we were actually fortunate enough to have Bert Reynold sign actually wow that's got birth signature on it the second one where you see the blue and the adrionic blue that's one of the five paint to sample cars that Pontiac Firebird had at the time five um we found that actually hurting cattle in Texas yo J no they didn't realize what the provenance was of the car had the car restored at a place called muscle car memories located in Lincoln Nebraska fantastic restoration job done on it but as you look at it there the Rarity of those parts in 73 they had a strike going on at the plants so they didn't know how many cars they were actually going to get out in September of 1972 they had to meet to 73 guidelines so anything produced after that they actually had to crush these cars because hting me no cuz they didn't meet the guidelines so that's why is that why five just squeezed through well they had five special paint but they're only you know very limited amount of cars that they made that year because of the strike and because of the new guidelines there's some really fascinating nuanced history as to why so a lot of cars has some stories yes and one thing you got to give it to Mark he's captured the colors he really has yeah he certainly has an Eclectic taste obviously it's an incredible collection but it wouldn't have the same impact if they're all gray no it would not they really you know there's so many cars nowadays that are white black silver yeah I know it's a sh blah yeah it was it's really special seeing the pts Corner as it were yes so what's with the solar array solar panels in a if you take a look at them from a financial from an environmental standpoint right now if you think about these here we have 42 uprights we produce about 365 Kow a year really wow and say we've got the shop back here you know we've got all the hvacs all the air compressors what do you think our monthly bill for electricity is back there about $150 you're kidding me no $150 and it probably cut the bill down 75% in the big building that's amazing so this is where the work happens this is where the magic happens okay welcome to the American muscle car Museum's Maintenance Shop wow oh yeah this has got a an authentic Workshop feel about it doesn't it and it does and this is something that has run like a business uhhuh what I mean by that is we have maintenance files on each car all the files as far as the I would call it the documents are off site but this is an area where we have some of the cars in storage we have it cleaned out a little bit cuz we had a a luncheon in here for the univiversity of Delaware K up top we have some of our rare and unique parts or our storage for overflow parts uhhuh and we also try to keep it simple what I mean by that we have the color coordinated you right now you can see the yellow blue red and green those are for different types of cars we have each section for that got this is one we're doing a a suspension detail on these were Shi in cosmoline and if it's not cleaned off it's not very nice so this is one we've taken apart cleaned and detailed uhhuh this is just in the process wow there's another one 959 over there some of the cars that we used actually for the we had an ncrs event which would be the National Corvette restores they had a regional event in here last weekend and they used our 2004 Z06 car here as a benchmark for their standards why could we use that one this one has seven original miles on it seven yeah so in a sense it's exactly how it did come out of the factory so in order to move this then will you put that on the correct that'll actually go uh on the stringos that we have in the other building we have them both up there for the event going on today yes and then you know we have the the blue we call them the blue duts we have the exhaust system that we can run cars in here and be in the AC which is really nice especially in the summertime I bet yeah but I've got one more area to show you back here your cameraman is getting his steps in the day here we go these are my favorite areas right in the back where it starts to get interesting oh c you do have some over spill then more pts you got two Ruby star turbos s's up there you know your cars oh three Ruby style turbo sers hold on a minute is this the whole row it's the whole row there's some magic magenta ones up there in each in a coupe a convertible and a Target top and some of the neostar that gt2rs that 9972 RS that's cool there only 500 of these These are these are Big Boy cars this is this is the kind of car that if you're not on your game you end up in in the undergrowth backwards I don't suppose you have any information on the mileage that this doesn't have on it 67 original miles yeah here we go one of 500 we actually went to these lightweight plastic car covers for two reasons right um they are very soft and easy as in a pain as long as you're not you keep them clean yes and the other thing is you can still see the cars yeah that's a good point actually yeah suppose when you have so many of them particularly if you're in a workshop where fundamentally the platform is the same shape it is it'll be hard to identify I guess now we come back into the main Museum and I'd like to share with you one of our military areas our military soldiers and Military overall we wouldn't have the lights we have if it wasn't for them so we tried to get some firearm from each one of the conflicts that the United States has been evolved in oh wow and you look how far it's evolved from the Revolutionary War down to the M16 the M16 and this is another one of the race cars in the 1970 Kingfish car uh this was driven by crocky Peterson but this is when we allow kids to get in have their you know see what it's really like to sit in an indie car croy's family at the time had owned a Pepsi bottle dealership and they had also Dr Pepper in there how they came up with the number 38 at the time Dr Pepper had 38 ingredients in it so that's what they came up with that is that right uh in 73 the week after IND 500 and the uh let me see he raced in Milwaukee and at that point you just park the car and there it is as race we come to the Viper collection here again you see the unique colors and all these cars here all 15 of them have less than 100 original miles are there cars that are sort of allocated to be griven all these cars yes were sold in a sense at a dealership or a private indidual yes roadworthy cars yes these are none of these cars that are just hidden in here just for basically here all these cars are part of the American muscle car history and it's nice to see young people involved in these I like how you've arranged all of your trickle chargers they sort of on show and you can see the status of each battery up there they're they're on show and here again that goes back to where he wants to have each car in running and driving condition uh so we keep all the batteries charged is that a prototype that car that's a 1956 Mercury turn prik XM prototype uh that is one of one that'll be it we just required it last year and we have been invited to the immedi island conquer show a couple months from now to display that car I mean that is the American dream isn't it that is that is that is it is there a term that defines the genre of styling is this the jet age is this I would call this the jet age and if you could look take a look at the steering column the gauges around it you just see how that all is it just jumps out like they're kind of sitting a futuristic almost like a Jetson light car I mean when this debut it people must have lost their minds 1956 yeah they must have and this had a specific truck and trailer built for this car to take it around American and display the car luck has it I mean that would be special now that would be another one I can show you of the later 50s cars this would be a 58 these are a Skyliner I'm going to let you go ahead and hop in there is that okay you're going to be the run the top let's have a look at this turn the key just one click to the passenger side just that one okay okay and then the knob right below that okay now stop there now we've completed the cycle down go ahead and take the lever and pull it towards you and just just hold it till it's completed as you can see It'll open the trunk lid no way look at the size of it there is no way look at the articulation in this roof this must have taken some engineering back in the day it's quite impressive there's over 600 ft of wire there's 19 solenoids on it and if one of the solenoids acts up you know in a sense you've got to find out which one it is oh just something incredibly satisfying about that it is do you know how much this car was back in the day these were between the high 3000s to 4000s in the ' 50s in the 50s so it was an expensive car at expensive car yes you know just the top itself was I would have to look somewhere between a $700 and $900 upgrade just to have the power top the Continental kit look at that that's like rear decking of a yacht another thing as we come up here we're going to come to the 54 Corvette these were so cool first generation were built in 53 through 1962 but the really early ones were 5 3 54 55s now at the time this had 150 to 155 horsepower later production doesn't sound like a lot however it was right in the area with the Austin Martin the Jaguars and everything at the time yeah you look at this here this would have had six-cylinder with 31 Barrel carburetors uhhuh later in production they changed the carburetors to where they came up and had a different air cleaner cuz in a sense they the fuel would go out the size and it would cause fires but one thing I would like to share with you people have thought out how easy is it to get in modern cars take a look at the this one go ahead and hop in okay so you wouldn't want to be that big huh no how did they get away with that well it's just now and then you also look at it you look at the windshield that's hilarious he looks like a monster in that car doesn't he so first of all the circumference of this steering wheel is quite literally dragging on my thighs it's like piloting a ship it is but even more funny is that the the edge of the windscreen is directly in my eyeline it is but you also look at the time what it had you've got your AM radio not only do you have your AM radio you have the two dots here the one by number six the number by number 12 that was part of the Connell rad National Defense System if you were on the eastern half of United States you were to turn to the first one by the six if you were on the western half you were return to the other one in the event of nuclear war they would give you instructions at the time I'm also thinking if we've got nuclear issues I'm not worried about what the radio [Music] says you look at the shifting pattern it's actually very odd it starts out in park and reverses all the way forward that's the the shifter correct like I'm not the biggest of BLS but I struggle to get my leg under that you'll see a lot of these the technique for getting in and out you'll see a lot of these where they're cracked because people are grabbing on to them trying to get in and out yeah I bet wow here again some of the low mile cars we have 5 miles on the red 1980 we have 80 1 miles on the 1978 and on this white 79 we have 6 mes on it it strikes me that a high mileage car in here would be 100 miles correct right most of these cars cars have never done a full tank of gas no but we would change the gas out so it doesn't go bad but for the most part no they haven't ran a full tank of gas isn't that amazing you take some of these cars and you think like the black LS6 1970 chevel uhhuh that's a piece of Americana there and that's a lot of car I mean that's badass look at that 450 horsepower but in in terms of something with Road presence I mean if that turned up in your rear view mirror yeah you would need 450 horsepower cuz everyone gets out of your way anyway I would agree with you there but no then we come down to of the wing cars and what I mean by the wing cars were the 1969 Dodge Daytona what was the the reasoning behind those wings if you look at the 1969 they were trying to gain any advantage they could in NASCAR racing okay and this one here you would think it was to for down pressure yes which was actually not the case it was for side to side stability and you also see the nose where the nose is 18 in long you know that was helping for the aerodynamics were they thinking about aerodynamics back then not really but they were starting to as you come through here in 1969 there was always a cat and mouse game between the do NASCAR and everything else they decided that if they wanted to produce these cars anymore they needed to have a front bumper Dodge was done with it but they went ahead and they went to Plymouth and they made a Superbird this was a Superbird that Richard Petty would make famous in the number 43 but we have this one here and aha you need a front bumper here's your front bumper here's your front bumper yeah it's basically a sort of gesture of one yes 1971 Plymouth Road Runner 1971 GTX that's right cool and then we got to have a Porsche 918 spider the red ax and interior stands out nicely with the Riviera blue do you know how many miles this 35 do have on it 35 miles yes this has still got this literally the sticker on it yes and some of the ones you see without the stickers we will laminate them we will keep them in storage boxes keep them to where they're safe really so everything you know hey we go up I need to find the specs for car number 412 it's up there listed this Porsche here's a VI here's the number of boxes it's all in storage then we come down to the Mustang row got your boss 302s some of your Seline cars a Shelby truck and then we've got a 1996 this was done in a mytic chrome metallic and as you can see it changes from green to purple to other couple colors from what our paint school told us is this was developed by drug dealers in the 70s and ' 80s in the Miami area so in a sense it would help them not get caught cuz I don't know what color car it was uh this car here is a 7UP Edition car produce these cars meaning to do a large in a sense for the National Basketball Association they were're going to do giveaways at halftime with these cars it never came to pass but this is one of the 7 up cars 1978 king cobra that's an interior K it looks like they cut somebody's golf pants up but this would be when they were really struggling with having something to work with 139 horse power and if you look at the tires on the side and the small stuff there there just wasn't much to work with here I'm going to be seeing colors tonight when I sleep it's well there's a lot to cover here incredible we did kind of a quick walk through you know sense I hope you guys really enjoyed yourself believable as um you could spend a day on every car here so well literally one of the gems of the collection as far as the Porsche end of it is a 1959 Porsche 718 rsk work spider this is number six and this is his first one that's modified to have the independent rear suspension they made also some a little bit later they called Center seaters which would have one seat in the center but you look at this this has been used to race at lemons this has been used to race it Sebring some of the hill climb challenges you know it has unbelievable history to it but then you look at how simple how straightforward it is and I mean it's there is not much safety in there the condition of it is so exceptional you'd be forgiven for thinking it was a continuation car and this was one they actually had polished illumin at one time and they called it The Shining spider and then you come to that you look at this you look at the aerodynamics and here again the safety features of it the size of the wheels and tires we come back from the 1959 Porsche we come to this one here uhhuh this is a 2019 Ford GT this is done in a Heritage Edition and Mark has 15 of the modern or this I would call them a second generation cars but you look at this car you look at the rake of the windshield like you had mentioned you look at the the doors how this car looks this would be state-of-the-art 1959 that was state-ofthe-art back in the day everything was super small and light with not much power although in a strange way I mean this is built around an entirely carbon tub so they still went for weight savings but uh size differences have a bit of a leap once again thank you for coming out that was unbelievable we are going to kick you off to the man up front talk with Henry brilant but I know we went through things very very quickly here honestly that was incredible we'd love to come back and spend a bit more time but uh thank you so much for that over travel look forward to seeing you again thanks i' appreciate that thank [Music] [Music] you
