Fixing the Longest Traffic Jam Ever | CITY FIX | Cities Skylines

[Music] hi how are you welcome to San Vegas we are now arriving oh my god it's gonna crash oh my god oh my god they're all dead oh well welcome to San Vegas is the camera gonna get under the bridge no oh goes over bouncing over san Vegas is a really large city about 150,000 people and we shall be arriving and approximately three minutes okay whatever let's look let's get into it um can we just have fun I feel like my channel is always so serious and like generally I don't talk so monitoring all the time so legit have fun just relax okay this is San Vegas it's pretty big got a bit of a Manhattan theme going on down here we've got some laurel pas we've got some thornton thornton district on the square and it goes all the way over to here we got some mountain areas we've got some traffic congestion and we've also got some who know with the city it's it's it's pretty big there's lots of different little districts everywhere now there's not a huge big traffic issue in one specific area it is kind of spread out so we have this part here we have this beast down here we have these little roads over here we have this main road here so let's get into it but before we do that if you're whatever I don't mind so let's begin currently 43% yes so let's start here I can see already what is happening there's just all this traffic coming in through here merging in with existing traffic so it's a third lane coming into a two lane so they're all merging in together maybe not the best what's going on over here that the traffic light I'm thinking let's just change this oops nope what's going on here it's a timed one is it okay so we can actually just remove that saw way and then we're just going to excuse me I said remove that thank you and then we're just gonna do give way signs there isn't much traffic coming through here anyway so I think time traffic lights it's a little bit over the top so give way signs should hopefully help with that help get all of these people moving helped right but helped no oh yeah girl really are you kidding me like come on let's get going speed you up get in their flow in there ah okay this bus stop here we need to move that bus stop because it's way too close to the entrance point so where is it it's this one I had it open do you ever do that you just forget where it is since it's so close to the entrance here the buses are going to line up and yes this guy is a bus like really what like what do you even clean go back to the airport but anyway since it's here they back up and then it blocks the entrance point for these guys here so I'm just going to move it down to here actually this one this one literally right there so why don't we just move it down there easy I think it was that one yeah and just remove that guy so hopefully they all go down there and it weren't back up is it going to block traffic down here because they have these lanes here but are they going to pull over enough okay maybe once they spread out a bit more because maybe this person just did the bus lines just recently and then all the buses are still kind of like feeling in that's why they're kind of there's a clump of them going together so come on now come on let's get going chopped up chop okay so anyway that kind of fixed up that area let's see what's going on over here you guys do not need to stop here like come on you can go straight through there I'll allow it's okay come on you can do it you can go straight through there also here these guys are flowing good looks like you've already done it great so flow increasing excellent fantastic coming down through here looks good okay let's abandon this area and move on to another area so let's just open up the traffic percentages ah that's right that's right that's right all of these guys here are causing traffic issues because they all have to slow down so I don't know if you've enabled them on nothing what the policy that lets them go through faster is it this one no it is one moment please automated toll because it allows the vehicles to go through at a much higher speed because if we look at the road hang on a minute I need to find where it was it's the city's to be confusing you can see all the traffic is coming down through here and they are going so slow and yeah so what we might do is I was just going to make sure that the speed is the same so it's the same but I'm thinking we should definitely upgrade this road because you have so much traffic coming in through here oh oh oh my god are you kidding are you kidding me are you kidding me um okay hang on we need to do some work here occur okay okay so what I have done is I've removed the second highway road that was going along here because it was just a little bit too much to mush it all together what I have done I've adjusted the lane amounts so from here I wish I could continue this this two-lane from here but I can't because it's the end of the map but anyway since the third lane ends it goes back down to two lanes here and then this part here it goes back to three lanes because this guy is entering and then 333 then the third lane exits here it goes back down to two lanes and then this one enters so then it goes back up to three lanes and then we go into here which is one two three four lanes so then I've added in four lanes here so they can slowly come back out and eventually merge merge merge and then they get to here which is three lanes look at all that traffic and then slowly slowly slowly goes back down here until we get to here which then the third lane disappears and goes back down to two lanes now obviously obviously um in theory that is going to work but before that works we have to clear up this issue down here it's going all the way over here the duder going down here going down to single lane single lane what's going on up here around around going down here off up no going up here up here ah so all of that highway traffic is caused by this little intersection right here yeah so that's why I always say you just need to follow where all the traffic is going and then work your way backwards so obviously if we started working from here not much is going to happen so we need to start working down at this bad boy down here it looks like a lot of these buses are causing part of the issue because they go into the bus depot here which is right on the intersection so I'm just going to move it to for example it might be okay over here because there these are all offices so they can deal with that a bit of a noise I don't know about these houses but hopefully that'll clear up these guys down here because there are buses a lot of buses coming down trying to get back to the depot they're like yeah my shifts over I just want to go home but now I'm stuck in traffic and I'm gonna have to be waiting for like three hours so that's fine isn't it so anyway I'm putting it over here at least they have this road to go in or this road down here I like how these roads here are not connected so obviously that's going to help a lot you can see a lot of them are already going down there so that's really that's actually really good to see that and you can see the flow is going faster already so even though it's slow we're getting there we're getting there so anyway while that is going it's at least it's moving so let's go back and have a look one lane goes out from there so that's fine clearing itself up I like these sub mini highway roads these are really good look at that traffic go satisfaction satisfaction I feel satisfied so let's follow back up falling back up um looking good I liked how this person actually does have a good understanding of what they're doing they have all these sub roads going on still playing things like that there's a bit of a there's something going on here doing some lane changing okay where is this single Lane go um that's interesting so even though this lane splits up it's still going back to the same spot so since it does go back to the same spot I'm going to just do ctrl s so they can't really change lanes at the last second because some reason they're panicking they're like oh my god the lane split I don't want to go this route of no workers but actually goes back to the same spot so they don't really need to change lanes but all of the lane changes right here are causing a lot of traffic congestion but it just ends up back over here so but I like how this person has four lanes here that's something that you just need to watch out for you have all these lanes coming in but make sure you have enough lanes for all of them to go to so you have three lanes coming in make sure you have three lanes not two or one do it okay clearing itself up great great great up here get they're some interesting questionable lane changes going on but that's good at least it's moving it's moving right it's moving good good good good good I added in a slip plane there as well and oh my oh oh girl oh my god how long has this traffic being backed up for like this is this is intense I'm just going to update the lanes from here because we have a third lane coming in into a two lane highway so there we go three three three now should I do three all the way let me just double-check where it goes no I think two is fine for most of it but I'll do three four a little bit longer so they have more time to change lanes go to about there and then from there they can go down to two lanes and then from here it fits into one either way it's good to see that there's all these people here using this this one as well that's really good but are they going in there girl no not T I don't want you to do that so to avoid that we're going to tell them and now we're going to smack their hands so these guys they can go straight ahead that one or they can go to the right but they can't go down this one but all of these other guys from the other roads here they can still use this if they want I just don't want these people to use it as like a slip plane so instead of going down along here some of them were cutting along through here and then going back on just to avoid this messy intersection congestion thingy so that is good fixed that up traffic is still shizer but we're getting there was it up here before and I think it was about up there so we're getting there okay thank you next oh my gosh it looks like so much when you look at it like this that's crazy okay this is a little bit overkill so let's just simplify it like I get that you're trying to like add in more lanes and make it really easy but it's a little bit overkill so let's actually remove this because if you were watching this nothing using this they can just go back up here since there's nothing it doesn't really matter too much also I'm just going to downgrade that because that's three lanes going in I feel like maybe two would be better actually no I'm going to just take it back to one because we're just making it simpler it's just we don't want to overdo it so all the way one way and why is that like that we can do a actually we just do this one here three lanes is a little bit overkill because when I first opened it this area was super congested like all the cars were bunched up off the roads and things like that I should have got a screenshot of it actually it was pretty messy but and come back down here yeah see how they like bunching off the road like that that's what they're all doing before anyway come back down here let's just manage this a little bit first of all this one here you shall be one lane I feel like once these guys clear up it won't really need much traffic fixing you know what I mean these cars are turning back we don't want that ah also this should go down to one lane if I can just go like that great and then we don't them to turn left so that we want them to just go straight ahead like so also we don't want people down here that's just that's not good turn up crossings because they actually have this walkway here that can connect up there and basically walk pass all of this what are you doing what are these people doing excuse me what are you guys oh oh oh oh oh oh my god okay where are these people going like stop just stop the stop like we don't want you here turn off crossing turn of crossing turn of crossing oops Oh what's this medical marijuana can't relate crossings off crossings often now there's a crossing here girl you're reaching you're reaching for these pedestrian crossings we don't want them one there as well turn them off here we really don't want them we want them to use the the elevated one that elevated pathway that's what it's there for I just realized where this Airport is oh my god like be careful when you're coming in and that's pretty close I probably wouldn't recommend putting an airport that close look here it goes is it gonna crash into anything oh my god oh that was close no how are these guys going getting there slowly slowly slowly slowly why are there four lanes here we'll take it back to two lanes this third lane here can go can be used for entering in that one and then if we go up here this third lane can go in there or I can go to that one if they want to go back around the roundabout is there a stop sign here or something that I'm missing there's something right there's got to be something that I'm not seeing junctions no it just looks like there's a stop sign or are they giving way is that what it is are they have to stop that's what it is okay there we go that's why I was taking so long did little stop signs they always get me right they're always they're always just hiding there behind a bush and next minute I'm like oh yeah there's a stop sign there now look at it go ah look at all the people though that's really good so just in case you didn't get it by removing all of these pedestrian crossings even though they're technically still there it actually stops them from using it because when they cross obviously cars have to slowed down and then have to wait and then have to go again then the cars behind them have to slow down then the cars behind that have to slow down and then there's always like so many people like look at all these people imagine if all these people were using all of these crossings that's going to cause a traffic jam on its own so that's why this person has cleverly put it over the top there are a little pedestrian pathway and as a result it's a pretty smooth flow even though it's an ugly roundabout no offence traffic percentage 42 okay so it's got worse um okay but this is clearing itself up slowly slowly good good good remember it was up to about here before now it's down to here so that's really great a lot of people oh I just realized this how this is laid out I don't really like how it's just single long roads like that you should try to do some other little roads because no and that's so steep oh my god good views third three hours later we still waiting be waiting waiting waiting oh my god could you imagine no thank you no thank you that's when you go Bush um okay let's find another area to work on so let's go up into the traffic percentage this area will clear itself up um so with this area this area is generally okay this one no there's like a big influx of people moving on um so this part here oh oh okay okay okay we found something we found something okay so she starts here she goes over the bridge she goes through the toll booth she comes around here she grows up off she goes up here and then she hits this and then she goes up here and then she comes here okay okay typical issue third lane coming into two lanes so yeah basically hoop all we need to do is she's adding the third lane it's a little bit annoying though because I have to do separate roads because we don't actually we could probably use just one of these ones in here probably just use this one and just update the speed on it and make it a bit faster so oh oh my god excuse me what is this so these two go to this one and this one this one ideally would come into here but I'm not going to do that just in case they want to emerge the third one exit picks it only these two straight ahead this one straight ahead obviously and then this left right one we'll go to that and that one because it can be used as an exit lane down er and then he are it can do oh hang on a second why did you I see why you did that okay okay even though I have three lanes here I'm going to not use one so this one will go that way this one will go I think God where is it down there Jesus let me just fix that up it's a little bit annoying there we go you can see you now kind of a little bit wonky you don't have to do this third Lane can I just there go so I killed that Lane hopefully no one will use it because they can't merge on this side so I also also also also because we're using a smaller Road so make sure that these are enabled turn off the pedestrian crossings turn it off down here as well just cause we don't want them there press play there we go okay so they could it's going okay it's a little bit slow up we can update the speed actually what's the speed on here mighty so we're doing 90 on here as well there we go great fantastic so this part here I do want to change one thing so it's not a good idea to have an entrance right before and exit because you're adding in more traffic into this area that is trying to exit so if I try to break that down this traffic here it usually it obviously is going to enter but whichever Lane it goes into is still going to have a bad impact so the traffic that is in the right lane is wanting to exit right but it's then being disrupted by this entering traffic so the ideal thing to do here is to move this entrance and put it behind the exit so for example this should be here and this one should be over here okay it looks a little bit messy but here we go this is what I was talking about so I've moved this one which originally was entering here I've moved it down here and then this traffic that wants to get off the highway they get to go first and then the other traffic will basically come back in so think of it as taking it out here and then putting it back in there but if it was the other way around it's just not going to work because it's going to overload it but that has basically cleared up this area I also just managed some of the lanes so for example this Lane before was going left but I've made it so I can only go right the same with this one and yes as a result look at that float she's looking good she's looking real good I kept moving on this guy up here so I think this traffic here is it's mainly all just really backed up it was the overflow congestion that was caused by this guy I think it will clear itself up and that's really now that I've cleared up the problem area over here oh I can't we get to that in a second but with this with this area clear itself up will it be okay on its own I think so like they're moving they're moving slowly slowly but surely so let's go up here and check on that other area that I saw so this area is also just the backup area so that will clear itself up eventually as well now this part here I feel the same but what I'll do is just manage the lanes give these guys a priority entrance language that person has already done and we'll just put these two poop we'll put these two there like so this part here you just need to go like that to tell them that this Lane is for exiting and these two existing lanes so green go straight ahead and so it is little purple dot there we go got it clear itself up eventually now what was that other thing that I saw so it's up to you there okay I'll try to remember that okay oh that's just still all of that traffic coming in but it goes up here up here up here oh my god oh my god okay oh just disappeared underneath I'm nice girls over here it goes here goes under the tunnel under the bridge sorry oh oh my god okay goes up here a little bit more is this the problem area no it goes up here up here goes on here goes along here all the way up to here up to here it is the problem area that's causing a citywide issue hmm what I am thinking of doing basically just doing a slip plane from here up to here I don't know why it would need to go that way it's not like they would need to go back this way because if they do need to turn around but obviously they wait in the game if they do need to turn around they can do it up in there somewhere so we don't really need this we don't really need this to be on that side so we can actually just even just like a one lane thing like straight up probably be bit steep but just something easy like that and we can remove it from here because we honestly don't even need it there add in a single slip laying waste the subway right there it's not a very good location but that they like so we can downgrade these ones we don't need that ideally you only need a single lane here like so actually you know what let's take this actually past that one bring it down a little bit and make it go to this one and then from here we'll turn off the traffic lights D and then we shall just let it go just let it go easy peasy straight in obviously so that level B that way and then we can make this guy go to that Lane and that one 4/8 and probably turn our traffic lights here too that's not too much traffic coming in and we turn off the result so there we go yeah so all that traffic will come in bypassed this area that was causing the issue I suppose comes straight up straight into their own little lane and they can just go straight in is really not much traffic over here so that is great now from here I might do a one of these roads right here today I'll do the third one the three lane one so it just pause it for a second we can update it in a sick unit let me just go to that elevated one go straight across the the great let me just update the speed so it's 60 obviously we do not want that what is the other speed it was 90 so we shall do 19 nosy come along here 19 19 19 okay but just go like that to make sure this speed is easy up easy same for there that is automatically done straight through here turnoff pedestrian crossing the turn now these guys should not be going to the left they should be going straight ahead so you go here and you go yeah you know that's not actually how I speak you guys like I know some of you are like oh my god you you say things so badly but I'm honestly just putting it on because I can because I like it give you guys priority um excuse me these guys probably are now see why that was like that but hang on a second more fees up so these guys should only go straight ahead straight ahead actually yeah no this is fine so traffic let me just think for a second traffic from this way if they want to go up they can go along here great traffic from this way and go along that what is this are you kidding me wow this is weird why is it must be glitching hmm strange very strange I don't know why I've never seen that happen before um and then we just did control s yeah I don't know what what's going on there it's really weird what is what is that I don't know but it seems to be working I don't know that's weird that's really weird well I feel like feel like it's a ghost town over here nobody's here traffic is okay over here that's really good hang on a sec what's it what's this oh we're back at this thing again something like that oh I know it looks really messy now like there's a lot going on but basically what I've done is made these guys pretty much just able to go straight ahead without dealing with this oncoming traffic because there is constant traffic coming from this way I gave them a slip plane on but since very rarely there's someone going this way I didn't bother to update this to two lanes then this the two lamps or whatever and so forth I just need to fix up this turn here so that goes like that yeah so that's cleared up a lot of this we're getting there slowly now if we go back up this way what's going on well because this guy it's the bus stops again the bus stop so I'm going to move the bus stop from here down to here a nut was originally there but it just needs more space and like to get off the road and not to back up areas that's looking better just move the bus stop down to there instead of up here so if there is buses here they have a lot of space to kind of get off the road there's a little other space so it doesn't back up onto the highway again highways looking pretty good as well Oh boost boost okay let's do another little exploration below I want to say an exploration this area looking pretty snazzy looking good this area looking good looking good good yeah oh this cup here oh good looking good a little bit here but that's alright manageable up here actually oh oh oh my god Wow Wow Owen Wilson wow this looks really good look at that nice flurry look at a guard looking good clear clear clear clear clear okay um remember this was really bad I can't still a little bit bad down here have a look Luke why why they time traffic lights here there's not even traffic lights so yeah uh there are okay but why why would you put it here like what were you thinking like what no offense but that's a little bit weird you don't usually put it on a roundabout um you don't girl um whoa okay weird so removed that from there and then remove it officially the one they're not okay just going to make these guys give way though cuz they're they're being a little bit intense right now and I need a little bit of a break so you guys can get way too okay traffic is building up again what is going on what's going on it's stuck great it's stuck everybody it's tough and this was the last thing that I needed to do so as the last the last thing that is the most annoying thing to do right okay I just kind of realize what's going on the entrance lanes coming into the roundabout so they're three lanes here two lanes here three lanes over here three lanes or is that four lanes it's too much so I'm actually going to downgrade it down to one lane entrance it's just going to make it a lot simpler it's all this one can go down to two but three or four lanes coming into a roundabout is a little it's a little bit overkill I think so this one can go down to one and I know it's really messing up the lane things but well that's two so the one goes straight ahead one goes to the right you can downgrade the roundabout - too late actually I know I know what you're thinking like really why are you going down but sometimes it's better to have less lanes because if you have more lanes it just gives more space to be filled up so you need to kind of decrease the size sometimes to make it simpler and to make things flow easier okay so through the power of give way signs and stop signs and just reducing the amount of lanes it has had a bit of a effect on it it will take a while to clear itself up but yeah we're getting there what's the thingy now Oh 69 69 percent so we're getting there we're getting good okay I'm gonna let it run for maybe 10 minutes and come back to it and see how it's going all right guys so it's been it's only been six minutes but during that time actually downgraded the roundabout again so down to one single lane and it's actually made it flow really fast just because it's a lot easier single-file these lanes can be in this second lane has the exit for them um this one if they're going over here they can really easily but I've made some of them have to give way and as a result it's just made it a lot easier lot faster really good sixty-eight percent so I don't know it's it's it's been an hour so I always give myself only one hour per city but but generally if you look at the areas that I have fixed up today so this area this was quite horrible it was backing all the way up to there so that's now clear this area here this looking good member this was really congested all the way this roundabout still has a lot coming through it but if you look at the flow that's what we really want we want good flow so even if there's a lot of traffic as long as it has good flow that's really good up here good flow how's the entrances that's going really good actually very barely any traffic zooming through the the toll booths up here looking great looking empty looking like a skinny legend come along here empty empty empty empty good good good wasn't that something down here that I did refusing oh yeah I just this one was so easy I basically just removed the bus depot from here back over to here because what they were doing is the holding all the traffic up Gustav coming down here and then I want to go back up there and yeah it was just a bit too much for that area to handle a little bit of traffic there but that's okay down here down here has a lot of traffic but look at that that's going good even though it looks like a mess but yeah it helped a lot anyway guys I think 70% for a large city so it's really shot up yeah really great obviously it could be so much better but I give myself one hour of her City so 70% is good I probably could go up to 80 if I gave myself another hour but I like to keep even even per video and per
