[Music] what you guys got another video here for you on how to fix USB flashdrive not showing up in Windows 10 or Windows 8 or even Windows 7 now this is quite a common problem and sometimes it's easy to fix and sometimes you can have a few issues so you can see here I've got my USB flash driver plugged in and it's not displaying on here now sometimes it's just a case of having no drive letter and it won't show up and sometimes there's a problem so let me just show you what I did to fix this problem here so when I open up Disk Management here and we'll take a look at Disk Management so now we're inside the disk management I've got disc 2 which is my removable USB flash drive you can see there's a couple of partitions here and when I right-click on these sometimes when you change the drive letter or give it a drive letter it will then become visible in my case it doesn't really matter what I do I'm having an issue with that when I right-click and go change drive letter and paths I get the system cannot find that the file specified and that's exactly what I'm getting here even if I change it on here I still get the same problem so let me have a look here when I right-click and go format I get windows cannot format the volume because the volume is offline there's another issue that I get as well with this flash drive and it doesn't matter if you try to delete the volumes or any of that stuff it won't let you do that ok so let me just show you some of the things you can do to try and fix or resolve this issue if the changing of the drive letter doesn't resolve your problem because it won't let you then continue to watch and I'll show you what we can try on here to try and resolve it so this is our drive and what I'm gonna do is going to close this off and then I'm going to close that off and we're going to go to device manager open up device manager here and in my case you can see inside the disks area you can see there is my SanDisk Ultra USB devices is visible so it is seeing the drive but it's not showing up now I'm going to try to update the driver and see if there's a driver that I can put on to make it visible sometimes this resolves the problem in my case it was the problem was not fixed and it was still invisible so I'm going to uninstall this device and then click on install here and then we're going to scan for hardware changes and hopefully when this does this it might sometimes populate there sometimes does happen so I'm going to quickly scan for that it's detected it and in that process it still didn't populate that drive and it didn't show it up here as you can see here so we still have a problem where it's not showing the drive up ok so what we're going to do here is have a look at the universal serial bus controllers for that USB flash drive and we'll try and remove those and do the same thing so they are listed down the bottom there so what you can do is you can actually uninstall those and hopefully scan for those so I'm just going to do that right now so let me just go down here there normally you can just uninstall all of the USB area here all you at USB drivers and scan all reboot the system and sometimes that does resolve the problem so let me just do this one here to see wherever it does I'm not holding out any hope for it so I'm just gonna uninstall and we can do is come up to the top here and scan for any hardware changes and you'll see it will populate again it's trying to find it you'll get a bit of sound coming from the computers that say it's found new USB drives and unfortunately that did not resolve my problem either so we're still having issues there it says that the drive is working properly and of course it is recognizing that drive up on the top there now sometimes when you scan for hardware changes the drive suddenly may become visible like it is here but when you go to open it it just says the drive is not accessible or something along those lines here so let me go and open this up and we'll see what happens so you can see here it's not accessible and you may also get another error code just underneath that send the device which does not exist was specified as well so that's another problem that you may run into so you also may open up command prompt and do some things from command prompt and that's another common thing that can happen so let's go ahead and open up command prompt here I'm gonna run this as administrator here how much you get inside administrator you may be typing in here check disk and then you can put in the drive letter if it suddenly gives you a drive letter and then push enter you may get some sort of error code popping up here like cannot open volume for direct access that's another error code you could get there so something up come on prompt again and try disk part and see what we get here so sometimes when you open up this part and you try to clean command that can sometimes resolve the issue let's go ahead and type inside here disk parts and this will open up this part so then we can type in here this disk and list disk will give us all the disks that are on this computer that are plugged in to the computer so let's go ahead and do that you can see how one is recognizable there as this too so let's go ahead and select disk two we can just type in select space disk two and this will then select that Drive so a lot of these are trial and error you have to try a lot of these out to try and resolve your problem so we're going to type clean here and hopefully this resolves a problem you can see disk part has encountered an error the device is not ready see the system event log for information so we've now tried that and we can now on to the next step so you can try these things out and hopefully some of these might work for you but in my case they wasn't working and I can look at the event log and go into more detail there what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna try and use a piece of software to resolve this problem we're gonna go and get ourselves a MIDI tool now MIDI tool is a very powerful tool and you can get it from mini tool partition wizard tool which is a free tool you can use and I'll leave the link in the video description for you download their piece of software and get that installed on the computer so let me go ahead and get this installed here and as you see me use this software before it's a very powerful piece of software and it does resolve a lot of these problems so let me go ahead and take it the participating customer experience and also remove the mini tool shadowed maker for free I don't want that I just want the mini toolbar tition wizard free and then we can move on to the next it'll download it and it will start to install that on to the computer so let's go ahead and now launch mini tool partition wizard and we'll see whether this can resolve our problem or whether the drive is completely finished and it needs to be replaced so let's go ahead and take a look here so we've got our drives all listed here and what we're interested in is the one down the bottom you can see here disc free that is our drive and that is the one we're taking a look at here so it says unformatted and so what I'm going to do is try to resolve this so let's go ahead and select the whole drive here and we'll try to delete all the partitions on that drive so let's go ahead and select the whole drive by clicking on the disk free and delete all the partitions it will give you a little apply down the bottom left hand side you need to apply this to make this basically set in stone to make it do its thing and again that's now done you can now see it's unallocated so now we've got this unallocated we can now create a simple volume if we wanted to we can also check the drive so I do want to check the drive just a little quick surface test of the drive to see whether there's any sort of errors on that drive or any sort of bad sectors so let me go ahead and just do a quick surface test and I do start now now if this drive was really really bad it'll probably show up quickly with some read errors in this block on there so hopefully it doesn't do that and the drive is in good health and the drive was getting recognized but for some reason it won't have want us to do anything with that drive so sometimes you have to resort to software to try and do these things and of course as long as it works that's all that really matters so let this surface test go ahead and do its thing they can do more extensive tests once you get past this stage and you can access the drive so let's just go ahead and let that finish off there so that's nearly done and this is only doing a quick surface test so it's not doing a a real long laborious test here and that's done so so if it's test come back good with no errors so that's a good sign so let's exit out of that part and now what we can do is select the drive that we want to create a simple volume on so right click on here and of course you can select what you need to do so I'm going to click on create here to create a new partition you can give it a partition label I'm just gonna call it USB I'm gonna create as a primary and also we can leave the drive letter as whatever it is there leave it as file system NTFS and we can click OK and then click apply don't forget to click apply and as it won't do anything then we can apply these pending changes and this should do it for us so just gonna let that go ahead and create this new partition for us on here so it's updating a system information so we'll just let that go ahead and do its thing and normally this is quite quick but this was starting to take a bit of time so I'm wondering whether the drive is starting to have some issues because normally that's a lot quicker I'm sure it's a lot quicker than this we'll just give me a bit of time see if it can actually do what it needs to do so it's going to let that finish off here and once this is done I'll probably give the PC a reboot okay so that's successively done here so we can now click OK and I'm going to reboot the computer okay so I've rebooted a computer and you can see although the software up again and there's no Drive letter there so let's try and explore that drive so it's letting us explore the drive now so we can actually explore it and that's a good sign but there's no Drive letter and that means it obviously didn't like that drive letter that drive F and for some reason windows obviously didn't like it and it wouldn't allocate it and it's gone missing and this could be a problem with the drive itself it's definitely not a software because that would have allocated that drive letter that I give it to which was F at the time so what we could do is give it another and change the drive letter and hopefully that does resolve the problem so let's go ahead and right-click on the drive again and change drive letter so I'm going to change this to another letter called e this time and we'll apply that and just say yes I just change the drive letter and hopefully that resolves the problem so they dare just do its thing and hopefully we get some success here so I'm just gonna let that finish off it does take a bit of time and there we go so now you can see Drive left F as suddenly appeared there but now we've changed it to e so something peculiar is happening to this USB flash drive so what we'll do is we'll let that finish off and see what happens they may be saying to yourself that these flash drives are pretty cheap and you may as well just buy a new one a freight and a bin and get on with your day and for me it's just intriguing to find out what's going on on I like to try to fix things so let's go ahead and what this can actually do if we can bring this back and try to get this as working now wouldn't obviously trust anything on this drive unless I fully tested it and make sure it's fully functional without any problems so I need it working first so now change the drive letter and you can see that drive letter F is there I'm going to quickly refresh here and now we've got F and E which is very peculiar but it won't let me access that drive for some reason so I might need to reboot the computer so I've now got e showing up here and we've also got F so there's something peculiar going on so I'm going to quickly reboot the computer one more time and we'll see what happens okay so reboot the computer and now you can see we do have actually drive letter e finally and you can see some information inside here that is because I do have show all the operating system files here so let me just quickly change this I'm going to quickly check the drive with the tools feature here and check to see if there's any issues you can see it doesn't need to be scanned the drive is in perfectly working order so I'm going to do a quick check anyway and everything worked out perfectly fine so it's very peculiar why that happened but it's now working and we now have a drive that we can access I will do some more tests on this drive just to make sure that it's fully functional and there was no problems with it I'm going to go to view here and options change folder options here and make sure that I've just turned off a hide protected operating system files there we go and that's basically how I resolved the flash drive not showing up in Windows 10 or Windows 8 or even Windows 7 it's very simple and easy to do now you might not have as many problems as I have out there and if you are then it may be the drive is failing and you may need to replace that drive well that said my name is Ben Brown from Braddock computers dodo ok hope this video helps you out guys have a great weekend and I'll she'll see again for another video real
