First Solo, Something Is Clearly Missing!, Episode 7 Road To PIC

this is my life like this is literally what happens stranded at the airport some storms came through so you know just enjoyed some ground time a little bonding time so here is your log book and uh there's only one page left if you don't follow by the second page it's done for [Music] foreign [Music] Alt and I'm not touching the mixture I've already done my radio check I've already done this I know I'm on Claremont County and I will make my radio call and yes close my window okay Clermont County two three eight six Victor taking off from Runway two two staying in the pattern Clermont County Full Throttle dropped to the floor right rudder 55 rotate we went up and did three patterns the two of us together after the first one she had a bit of a rough time a bit of a breakdown after that first landing I feel really weird it's because when you rotate it you went a little bit too high so then you kind of got out of ground effect and did like a sink back down for a second okay it took the minute a plane it took the plane a minute to gain its energy back okay so Justice for the rotation you're good I'm accounting 2386 Victor attorney left downwind Runway two two climber County Everything feels really weird I'm not sure why you're doing great it's been perfect so far there's so much emotion building up pretty sure she knew it was coming even though we tried to hide it from her as best as possible she's a woman you can't just hide things from them so you know it's like she was getting proposed to her stuff like she just knew like some part of her just knew Grandma County 2386 Victors turning final Runway 2-2 Clermont County I totally thought I overshot that that felt way overshot it's good though pitching for 65 15. I was definitely nervous and I felt like everything was wrong and weird and I don't know if that was just my nerves and anticipation of assuming that we were about to do solo but I thought like I did controls like we came and parked it and I said are you ready to go she was like No And I said yes hello this thing no you're going to you are ready there comes a point where you just realize that they're ready and so and so I knew and so I sent her 40s Claremont County Airport automated weather observation two two two niner Zulu weather wind zero one zero at five visibility one zero ceiling one zero thousand that's what I thought the winds are zero and zero and it's what should I do the speed of the win three six zero at five now it's three six zero at five all right go ahead and hang a left there and turn around and go down to four okay of course this happened right of course it happened on the first solo we did our Landings on two two she has to sew on for I knew it was gonna be okay this almost made for a a boss battle you could say because Runway four has been her Nemesis this whole time Victor is taking off from Runway four staying in the pattern Claremont County that's insane 11 days you're left you're right all right Full Throttle dropping the feet right rudder [Music] rotate [Applause] [Music] foreign [Music] 1400 only turning back now traffic is too far away 1500. so I'm accounting 2386 Victor is turning left crosswind runway for climate County foreign off points the power back Prima County 2386 Victor is turning left downwind runway for Clermont County all right power back to 15. and pitching for 85 climate County 2386 Victor is turning base Claremont County [Music] all right turning final pops full Claremont County 2386 Victor is trying to find a home runway for Lima County I've got this pitching for 65. a little fast a little low all right pulling the power back light flare round out round out [Music] it got it got it got it breaks there it is there it is that's it our first landing ever by herself lean off to the left climber County 2386 Victor is cleared runway for Columbia County yeah so we did it we did it laps up extra got a little bit higher Landing taxi NAB and strobe all right I'm excited I am so proud of him this is really I can do that climate County 2386 Victor is taking off from Runway forward staying in the pattern climate County right router full power [Applause] Patrol elevator rotate [Music] good job foreign County 2386 Victor is turning left phase Clermont County Runway four all right turning final Clermont County 2386 Victor is turning final runway for Clement County on the quiet slope a little bit of power edge of power pops are full down a little bit chop with power oh yeah boom that looked like butter I am so terrified some reason I am doing good Claremont County 2386 Victor is taking off from Runway four for the last time staying in the pattern Clermont County all powder right rudder elevator [Music] rotate foreign flaps Grandma County 2386 Victor turning final Runway four Clermont County down five a little bit more still on the Glide path engine 65. comes okay you got this Kim that was a perfect power out and on Center Line killing it how's that for you citation Max yes this is some three good Landings right there Clermont County 2386 Victor has just finished her so low and clear for eign off and out do I feel like I'm missing something a hug how about that you're so amazing great job oh my goodness you're done you did it very solo how was it I made for my that's what yeah you did yeah you did well you're you're a proud member of the 20 that's so low on Runway four oh my God I feel better doing it though you feel better doing it on board you greased all three of those Landings thank you like I did yeah you did it's gonna be even worse when his son solos [Laughter] so we have a couple thanks here for you okay so Matt has a coin here if you have any idea about challenge coins okay all right so we got a little bit of a challenge coin here so uh obviously you know the history behind challenge coins right you gotta get drinks with your friends you you accomplish something so you get given a challenge coin for that accomplishment yeah today you've completed your first solo so we're giving you we manufacture uh our own challenge coins here we're giving you your own challenge coin as first solo token next time you're out getting drinks with your friends slam it on the counter if no one else can reciprocate with their own coin they buy you drinks if everyone else does you have to buy them the drinks exactly right so it's it's a it's a risk yes but here you go we got sporties Academy on the front we got learn to fly on the back adorable there's your very end challenge coin cool thank you absolutely so well we know what the big moment is next right um soloing the baron uh well uh that's not up today today the today thing yeah so I hope you're not too attached to that shirt I am not okay so you know what happens yes yeah so we cut your shirt tail essentially it pays homage back to the old days in aviation of Flight Training right so so back then pretty much you know your tandem seeds you know the students that's up front instructors in the back well they didn't really have any kind of effective way to communicate right no headsets no intercom any of that kind of good stuff so it ended up being a lot of yelling screaming and pulling on shirt Tails basically in order to get the students attention well in this case right we're cutting away to the shirt sale to say Matt's no longer needed to be back there pulling on that right you don't need that shirt tail because you've now soloed you've completed that next step Matt's out so without further Ado I say we get to cutting and then we can go from there let's do this thing what we end up doing with this we end up decorating it up really nicely and then we put in a frame and then whenever we get around and get it back to you be able to hang it up in your room whatever you want to do with it so I will decorate this for you most likely the back because that's going to be the easier side to decorate and we'll frame it and we'll get it back to you cool all right so I assumed uh small hopefully that's the right size whatever the smallest is you have all right so on the front we have Sporty's Academy all right and then on the back I fly at sporties done so there you go thank you okay I'm on behalf of sporties and Sporty's Academy we would like to present you with their the shirt tail from your first solo to commemorate that event congratulations once again thank you so much such a an accomplishment I for drawing on it my wife did a great job all right well congratulations thanks again thank you nothing's going to be as great as this moment until she gets her license but we're continuing on we're going to see how far we can get and just take it one day at a time
