hi I'm Kirby Allison and today is an exciting day I'm shining a Brand New Pair of bespoke Shoes For the First Time these beautiful cannons bespoke from London at the latest addition to my collection of bespoke [Music] shoes everyone on this channel knows that I am a shoe fanatic I love shoes I obsess about shoes I plot my next pair of shoes uh and there's nothing more I love than the satisfaction of shining a brand new pair of shoes that are about to be introduced into my wardrobe now this is my latest pair of bespoke shoes a pair of bespoke Cannon shoes from London cannons was formerly Foster in Suns and cannons has really taken Foster tradition of that discreet Westend bespoke shoe making uh into the 21st century uh and they are carrying that torch forward doing some absolutely incredible work this pair of shoes was unboxed in a previous video and I have to say I couldn't be more excited about these shoes my light brown pair of Foster and Sun shoes was made of course on the same last really the same model but in a light brown with a little bit of antiquing uh and the opportunity to add a dark brown pair in the same model is something uh that is very exciting to me now in the unboxing video I walked through all of the details of quality craftsmanship in Tradition that one is defined in a bespoke pair of shoes and I'm going to show you probably one of my favorite details on this shoe and probably one of the reasons it's taken me so long to polish these I almost can't bring myself to wear them they're so beautiful and that is the bottom of the shoe again a detail that the moment you wear these things outside is going to be completely scuffed and ruined something that someone will probably never see but this right here ladies and gentlemen uh is an incredible example of the type of craftsmanship you have with a bespoke Shoemaker and especially at a bespoke Shoemaker like cannons where even this hidden detail that is really only going to be fully appreciated whenever you first pull those shoes out of the box is not overlooked again bespoke shoes being made completely by hand allows the shoe maker a good shoe maker and not all Sho makers really have the same not meant to be an advat corial although it is what keeps the lights on uh this is about the opportunity to shine these beautiful pairs of shoes so one of the questions that we get quite often is do I need to shine a new pair of shoes uh and uh you know the short answer to that it really is an unequivocal yes um new shoes maybe with the singular exception of a pair of bespoke shoes aren't being uh touched at all with shoe polish before leaving the factory uh really you know absent the tanning process the leather hasn't been hydrated or treated at all uh and so it's very important after that long journey uh to your feet that a new pair of shoes are properly polished uh for one you're going to be hydrating that leather conditioning it ensuring that it looks healthy that it's soft it's Supple it helps reduce creasing uh but also uh has a nice beautiful shine to it uh because a shoe polish makes every pair of shoes look better especially a new pair again a pair of bespoke shoes like these cannons you can see that the shoe maker is spending a little bit of time polishing these shoes before they leave the workshop but really that is exceptionally rare I mean with the singular exception of a pair of bespoke shoes you can just be certain that a pair of shoes is not being polished uh before they are shipped uh to you so very important important uh and another thing I always like to say is that uh you know you would be really surprised just how much of an impact shoe polish can have on a pair of shoes I mean you can take A200 or $300 pair of shoes and make them look twice as good just with good polishing and proper shoelaces really every pair of shoes needs to be polished especially a new pair so that's what we're going to do today exciting day um of course we've got a full setup here High shine shamies right we sell these in a pack of three these are really my favorite shamies because it's made out of an exceptionally high quality interlocking cotton it is the highest quality cotton and these easily wrap around your fingers uh and then can be tied through the bottom right which makes that polishing process a lot easier we have dobbers now you can use a dobber but personally I prefer to apply all my shoe polish with the Shamy and specifically one of our high shine shamies I find that uh you know the thinner cotton of this cotton interlocking is a little bit more efficient in terms of the amount of polish that the cloth is pulling it's not kind of oversaturating right less is more whenever it comes to shoe polish uh and you're able to just feel the shoe better so there's a lot of analogies there I won't go into but long story short I only polish my shoes with one of these uh shamies so here we go so sair renovator this is like liquid gold for a pair of shoes uh it is a mink oilbased cleaner and conditioner it's really more of a conditioner than anything else uh I wouldn't necessarily call it a cleaner per se other than the fact that you know whenever you apply any type of Polish to your shoes you are you know certainly cleaning any type of superficial buildup uh on the surface of the shoes now renovator as I said is like liquid gold uh you know the leather drinks this stuff it's incredible if you only had one polish this is what I would recommend using uh it is the best conditioner out there and it's really important as I said to condition a a new pair of shoes because in most cases you know that leather uh is relatively dry so you want to condition it you want to give it that nourishment one to make it look healthy I mean leather just like skin care uh you want your leather to be nourished and healthy uh and then it also helps with the creasing the smoother uh and the more flexible the leather is right the less likely you are to end up with hard creasing if you were to only use one product this is what I would recommend uh the other benefit of the spere renovator is that it does have waxes so again it provides a nice soft shine and often times if I just have a little bit of time and need to shine a pair of shoes right I will use honestly pigmented cream polish uh because you're getting pigment nourishment uh and waxes so I'm applying a nice thin coat here right working it into the leather I'm not going to spend too much time on the cap and the heel only because these shoes have been shined right so uh this is not going to really penetrate past that wax into the leather too much you'll see new pair of shoes I'm still getting a little bit of polish off of my cloth that is not the die that is the Polish that was used at the workshop when polishing these shoes and it's a great example of how even something as gentle as the sair renovator does have gentle cleaning properties now the sair renovator is water based right so it it does not have any solvents uh and so it is the most gentle of all of the products uh and the other benefit of superior renovator is that you can really use it on everything with the singular exception of suede calf skin Exotics alligator crocodile civin uh renovator is really a great product uh the only thing I wouldn't use it on is suede of course because it will ruin the nap uh and then any type of unwaxed leather like a chrome XL because those waxes will uh just simply alter the surface texture okay plying this in right okay so once that has an opportunity to dry uh you then are going to buff it off using a HSE aair brush here I'm using one of our Wellington shoemakers brushes this is a very generous oversized brush all of our brushes are made with 100% tail hair which is the highest quality M hair which comes from the back of the horse's neck is more brittle and shedding excessive shedding really is because that filler hair that main hair has been used uh in the brush uh our brushes again are made to the highest standards very thick pinning density also so another question I get often is what if I get shoe polish in the broing right well shoe shine brush little bit of gentle tapping right and you're just getting those bristles into the those uh small holes and then I'm just going to buff what I like about our shoem maker brush is that because it is oversized and has such long bristles you're much less likely to miss and take the handle of the brush into your shoe and all you're doing here is you're buffing that excess off right that's why less is more and then bringing those waxes you know to a nice soft shine now you're not going to get a high shine with a brush you need a shammy thme and some elbow grease for that but it is important all right so there we go set that aside I always like to um shine my shoes with the shoe trees very important gentle buff and there we go again it's a little bit of cheating only because um these shoes have already been shined okay so there we go first application seir renovator some nice beautiful conditioning I love that leather it's really going to be hard to wear these shoes next Comes The Shining with a pigmented polish again very important I've got two different colors here from sair uh there's over 16 different pigments now with sere medal or several Browns I think over five different Browns there's no such thing as a perfect match right you want to be close and you want to think about you know from a tinting perspective which direction you want to take your shoes if you certainly don't want to darken them then always go in the lighter side with the Polish but the one thing to keep in mind is that there is a transparency to this uh and so even if the Polish is a little bit darker than your leather it's not like oil paint or something where you're going to completely transform uh the finish of that leather just with one application of shoe polish think of it as nudging as tinting it allows you to Accent uh and really experience one of the most beautiful characteristics of a highquality leather pair of shoes which is the evolution of that finish and that leather over time and over polishing you have to wear them and you have to polish them and the polishing honestly is probably one of the the most important characteristics of developing that patina maybe even more important than just simply wearing them so I've Got The Havana right here which love the name of that uh but I was just thinking that you know there's a little bit of red in this brown I was thinking that tobacco Havana Brown uh would be ideal but um I think that actually the best uh the best polish here is going to be that dark brown but let's just try that I'm going to open these up right I'm going to take a little bit of Polish right and maybe just apply that right there kind of see it on the vamp again I'm not really worried about completely uh transforming things little bit of dark brown polish yeah I mean you know we're really kind of splitting hairs here I think I'm going to go with the dark brown yeah so dark brown dark brown it is um put this right there put my shammy back on now I'm contradicting myself a little bit here I said that if you only had one product to use it would be the seir renovator uh and that is because it's neutral and so you can really use it on any pair of shoes regardless of the color now if you were to only use one product but you had multiple uh colors um or if that was available then I would use a pigmented cream polish because one uh all SHO shoes need pigment especially once they're being worn you scuff them you really need to reintroduce pigment uh to even out the finish uh and then second you're going to get the nourishing uh that one gets with a cream polish so it's still going to hydrate the leather like the Ren ofor and then you still do have those waxes right now it's not going to produce a high shine but it'll produce a nice soft shine so you know if I'm running out of the house and I see a pair of shoes needs a a quick shine uh I will will most often just throw some pigmented cream polish on there uh buff them up and then off to the races uh if the shoe if the finish of the shoes look good maybe I'll use a wax um again you don't even really need to use a brush you can just use a shammy so applying this pigmented cream polish into the leather again you want to massage it in you don't want to go gentle I'm pushing down with medium to firm pressure and then less is more you don't want too much polish build up because then it just makes it difficult to buff off let this dry it's been a long time since we've had a shoe shine video here on the channel it's hard to [Music] [Laughter] [Music] again just one coat of Polish you can see how these are already starting to light up we're going to do more but it just shows how far just a little bit of Polish goes [Music] great there we go that application is done I find shining my shoes therapeutic but if you think that you don't have time um we do have a Shine by mail service and we've got an incredible and very popular Shine by mail service that uh we will take your shoes and bring them to an absolutely stunning mirror shine okay next we're going to apply a little bit of wax polish so this is a seere Pat Deluxe wax polish this is um a great wax it's got It's softer than the mirror gloss which we'll use in a moment dark Browns pigmented uh and here we begin introducing those hard waxes those hard waxes are what Elevate the shine also what protects the leather so very important and you want to be careful you don't want to go overboard with a hard wax polish because it will crack across the vamp but it's certainly okay to apply a coat of wax polish at least one to the entire shoe again it has a higher concentration of solvents so to help penetrate even deeper into the leather a little bit of pth Delux with that higher solvent concentration is really handy at renewing or repairing a cracked mirror shine uh and just generally good at cleaning the leather again nice light coat and then here we're going to buff it off before we move into the mirror gloss get some of the heel like second pair second beautiful okay so we'll allow that to dry now with your wax polish it really is important to allow it time to dry you want it to feel kind of dry and not tacky uh to the touch uh and the reason that that's important is you want those solvents to evaporate so those hard waxes Harden they dry and that is what's going to give you that nice shine add some buffing beautiful f [Music] [Music] wow so you can really see I mean again the importance of the pigmented cream polish I mean even with this new pair of shoes the Finish is certainly evening out uh gorgeous nice soft Shine for a lot of people this would be enough um you wouldn't have to take it to high shine I enjoy a little bit of a pop on my toes and heels so we aren't going to stop here okay there we go beautiful so look at these we'll show these off real quickly gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous right so next we're going to work on a little bit of a high shine so this is uh where things get fun and you could say in many ways the hard work begins uh mirror shine is the process of building up that finish of hard waxes on the surface of the leather it helps uh basically gloss over if you will the uh the pores the natural pores of the leather to provide a smooth surface that shines uh and so that's a long way of saying there's no way of rushing it you really do have to build up that hard polish now for that a mirror gloss is Simply the Best out there uh this is a product I'm certainly proud to say that it was a you know an idea that we proposed to seere that they ran with and uh we ultimately found out about it maybe a year later and what this is is basically a a Polish that's drier than the pat Deluxe it has a higher concentration of those hard waxes I mean you can see it right here I mean even the Polish you know it cracks a little bit whenever it's stored completely normal you just push it back down right and what this does is it has a less solvent and the higher concentration of those hard waxes so it allows you to build up that Foundation of hard waxes that you need in order to produce that shine so I'm applying this really just on the toe box uh and the heel so the hard countered areas of the shoe it's great as an edge dressing I mean this some cream polish uh you you know really is the best product you can use for edges and heels in my opinion but I'm going to apply this on honestly a very generous coat because again we need that Foundation of hard waxes to Vin gloss you want it smooth so I am buffing it I'm not going crazy okay so there we go pretty good I'm going to apply the heel again this area of the shoe is not flexing so you don't have to worry about the Polish cracking all right we're going to let this dry again hard wax even more important uh to allow it time to dry all right so we're going to take our high shine water dispenser put the shoes aside and next what we're going to do is use some of the seir patx a little bit of water and our high shine shammy and we're going to see what type of shine we can get so for this I'm going to use a clean area of my shammy right little bit of water put this right here all right and here we're just going to begin buffing that now I like to use a little bit of Pat Deluxe just a tiny amount I mean look at that just enough to really kind of help lubricate this shammy so that it is uh not dragging uh the those solvents are going to help kind of you know glage if you will as the French would say those hard waxes to a nice shine right now I'm not going to take this up crazy right so this is just with one coat of the seere mirror gloss again keep in mind we were starting on something that was already shined uh but little bit of that this little bit of water right and what you're doing is you're melting those waxes with the friction and then Lassing them now the problem is if you use too much of the pat Deluxe right too many solvents is just going to melt those waxes uh and you're going to basically be going back to square one so this is why a little bit of water right the water helps Harden those waxes too much water and you'll never get a shine a little bit of wax and again the more layers right the more depth you're going to create uh I like to sometimes do my mirror shines over the course of several days so that's a nice shine right popping out a little bit I'm going to put another coat of the mirror gloss on this right and we are going going to continue to shine allow it to dry continue to work so this is where if you've got several shoes to work on right makes things go faster right because you do need time for the polish to dry uh and honestly batching it over the course of a few days is nice as well okay okay well here we go so little bit of a time lapse because this took a little bit of time but you can see we built this up to a nice mirror shine really beautiful mirror shine I'm going to finish with the edges and heels all right yeah nice okay here good look all right so here we have beautiful new bespoke Cannon shoes nice beautiful mirror shine and just look look at the difference here right so again multiple layers of uh sere mirror gloss Pat Deluxe a little bit of water buffing uh and you're working it to that shine as you get closer to that kind of final point that mirror shine you're applying uh successively uh thinner coats and kind of towards the end just buffing I call it the mirror shine Mirage right because you really can get lost in it and kind of Chase that
