hello Jeremy from radwood in Harriet in the United Kingdom welcome back to our YouTube channel um this is a rather neglected pair of shoes um and I'm going to show you very quick kind of Maintenance to bring them back to something wearable uh I mean they're ready for repair really but for the purpose of this I'll show you one one shoe today I'm going to use a very old horse brush a goat hair brush which is super soft and and then products we use safia we've always used it in the shop for the last long as I can remember and so have the shoe makers Crockett and Jones uh used to sell polish by Crockett and Jones but they never used it they always used safia now their polish is made by Saia um I think um kiwi have withdrawn from the UK so safia is a very good one to go for indeed LS is made by safia so that's what we're going to use the renovating cream and the wax polish so this is the worst of the two shoes so I'm going to put the left one to one side and the first thing I do uh is strip out the laces and you can see that's all frayed in the end they just W bin in um and then I'm going to put uh a good Wooden Shoe Tree slightly probably a little bit too big for this shoe but it will help to push out those uh creases and then with our brush it all wants a good brushing and I will clean this counter later uh all those welts good brush all over make sure it's all dry and that will be ready to take some renovating polish so I have this seral that the older the piece of salvet or the rag that you have um the better it gets so this is really quite old um new thing of uh Crockett Sofia polish and I'm just going to liberally rub this into the shoe and give it a coat now what you're doing with this this step uh and this will buff up and it will shine is you're feeding the leather the leather has been mistreated and hasn't been polished for ages um you're feeding it this is uh a cream that will keep the leather supple if you put a the wax shoe polish on yes it'll shine but it won't feed it it just sits on top and provides a shine so what I'm doing and going all around the soles is giving this a good coat which I'm going to let soak in doing this very quickly and a dber brush like this or an old toothbrushes is absolutely fine I'm going to work some Polish right into those welts place where uh a lot of people neglect is the well neither brushing it out and as I say these really are ready for rebuild but for this purpose um plenty around here get the all colored back in and into those welts and then when you put this down you do the other one I'm not going to do that because I want to show you the before and after um that needs to soak in now and needs to dry rather like when you wax uh a car you don't put it on and take it straight off you put a little on and you rub your finger through the wax and it's hazed it's ready to polish off it's the same with shoes so we'll come back to that in about 10 minutes so coming back to this shoe if I pull my finger across there can see a little bit of shine underneath and squeak so we'll give this a go HSE aair brush um and I'm just small Strokes I've cleaned inside the tongue as well again it's another place that people neglect and it's very important I think to strip out the laces okay a quick polish if you're in a rush leave them in but it is nice to to strip them out and do replace your laces often if they start to look frayed and they start to look worn or they're snapped get rid of them put some more in they not expensive and you can see there's a little shine starting to build on here flip that round so now we're going to put on some wax polish and this will add a layer of um um polish that will help to repel the rain and it does give a deeper shine so with our ancient rag I'm just going to initially just spread this it's not bulling it's not lots of circles get it all worked in and I would definitely um brush out the UND Sole and polish that too I'm not going to in this video because these do actually need repairing and this is maybe a fallacy of mine if I'm most of my shoes that are new go back to the factory to be rebuilt but some of my older shoes I will send to my Chum in Doncaster and um I'll polish them before I send them I just think he sees a nice pair of shoes been well looked after it perhaps takes a bit more care I'm sure he takes care with every shoe but I kind of a pride thing I don't want to be sending in dirty shoes so they go in uh nice and clean so that's a wax polish and we'll just let that sit on the surface for a while and dry these edges there is an edge dressing you can buy as well it's like a leather dieye you be very care f with it um and you apply it with a sponge around the edges it it takes it to Absolute black straight away very careful with cream carpets um I don't have any here today but for this case polishes will do so again if you take your finger and you rub it through this polish I can see it immediately the shine underneath there I do like this old brush and then I am going to just put a couple of layers just a couple of layers of small circles and a little bit of breath just to give those toe caps a little bit of a lift and we'll put some new laces in and you can see them side by side before they go back to repair and now with your rag little bit of Polish and then if you just give small circles around the toe area always more difficult on a toe cap with Broan because the holes can clog up un less is more in this the idea is to build up small LS [Laughter] and what you're actually feeling um you would put more layers on this is for the Polish to start feeling tacky just start dragging on the cloth then it's time to sort of give it some breath and some and some shine and you'll see all sorts of videos I I again on um YouTube maybe using a heat gun and doing it very quickly never tried it um but as I say I'm just looking for a highly buffed uh well cared for look although this shoe isn't it's at the you know repair stage it's so I've now switched for my ancient uh cloth to uh a shoe bag um which should be used for storing shoes in but I often use them for um this an old t-shirt will work and gain another quick layer of Polish it's just a little bit finer and you'll see this starting to take a a deeper Shine for bring the other one in this wasn't a quick job I mean I can spend a lot of time on shoes and take them up to a a much higher level but this is a quick sort of Maintenance they were looking pretty sad and awful and that's wearable though it is going for repair cuz there's a hole in it and I'm not going to do that one my son's going to do that one so there we are um like And subscribe and any questions or other things that you want to see um as I say if you want to see something looking like glass there's probably another YouTube channel there for that this is everyday life we've all got busy lives Sundays are Sundays and do you want to spend all morning polishing your shoes it is very therapeutic um but there are other things to do and there we are that's an English good your Welter shoe brought back to life very quickly thank you
