[Music] oh hello Fred what's going on everyone it's been a little bit since we've seen Fred he's doing just fine but uh today it's uh it's actually a little after noon already um this morning I was running around doing some errands uh got both my Ford and my duy but got both of those registered finally uh only a month late on that I've been driving around illegally but it is what it is um today I want to run to the shop and I want to make some extra security for these tool bins so I want to make something that flips down and comes down here by the bins and locks these bins up even better um you know you can lock these bins up with a key but it honestly don't won't take much to peel these doors open if you really wanted to get in there so for me personally I want to have a little extra sense of security with this truck so I'm going to make something like that um cuz tomorrow I'm planning on taking a trip down to Chicago uh there's some trade show uh uh something going on down there that I want to go check out uh possibly bring you guys with me but uh before I run to the shop I got to run and I got to get some steel for this truck uh to make the um locking mechanism that I'm talking about and uh we might try patching the wall at the shop there but anyways let's uh take you guys along and let's get after it also before I forget uh to the guy that I ran into at the DMV today uh it was nice meeting you uh if any of you guys any of you viewers ever run out to me in public feel free to come up say hi to me um I don't bite too hard but uh no I'm just kidding with that but yeah no feel free it's a pretty cool experience I might be caught off guard cuz uh it's not something that happens too often but when it does happen it's actually kind of neat so yeah feel free if you see me out in public come stop by say hi shake my hand take a picture of me whatever you feel like doing but uh yeah no I just wanted to say thanks again it was nice to meeting you and talking to you so all right I'm going to run to Fleet Farm here now and go get the parts that I need and start working on this truck all right so I just got back here to the shop I went and picked up uh I got some steel pipe some uh couplings and uh some SE Channel and some flat stock uh my my original plan with this truck was to build something that was kind of like somewhere in this area that would rotate up and then sit on top of the box here when I wasn't when I didn't want to lock the box and then rotate it back down and then it would lock somewhere down here but the more I thought about it I don't know if I want to just have those on the truck at all times um I don't necessarily need to lock the truck up that tight uh every time just for times like uh you know I'm going into an area where I know it's going to be a little uh not safe uh is the reason for building uh these extra lock bars I guess I'd call them um it just helps uh detour people a little bit more it's just a little extra work to try getting into the truck if they if they really want it to I know um if you really want something bad enough they'll get it I've had stuff stolen before and it sucks but uh just a little extra precaution a little piece of mind for myself uh I got thousands of dollars of tools in this truck and if I can keep them safe I'm going to I guess try everything to keep them safe so that's uh part of today's goal the reason why I got these couplings here these 3/4 in couplings is at the front of the box here I'm going to have it where it sticks out just uh off the edge here something like that and then uh this threaded end I'll thread it in that way um in the front of the box it's it's a tight fit and you know I don't need a I don't need to like wrench these things in tight I just need to thread it in enough so when it gets here to the back when it gets here to the back I can put like a master lock or something back there my first thought was to just have like buy a bigger pipe like a inch and a/ qu pipe and Slide the front of the pipe in through the coupling in the front there uh but then I was thinking about it more if you really really wanted to it wouldn't be that much to grab the center of that bar and just wrench on it and be able to bend it and pull it out of the front up there so that's why I opted to do the coupling where you have to kind of thread it into there because then you either a have to bust bust the locks off or something so but uh that's kind of the plan for this um I don't know if you can make out but this pipe has a significant Bend um kind of worked out in my favor because I didn't need the entire length there obviously you know you can see it hangs out but it just so happens that the bend of that pipe sticks out uh past the truck it doesn't start bending until it's pass the box of the truck and uh when I was at Fleet Farm they gave me a you know pretty much half off on that uh piece of pipe there so worked out for me um I still had to buy this one though this one's straight I had to paid full price for that one but it is what it is I'll save money wherever I can but yeah that's the goal for for that and then obviously I got this wall the effect over here and I'm just going I'm going to try seeing what I can do to get that patched up but all right I got to start cutting some steel and getting some stuff going here and uh start welding this all together and hopefully it all works out I do have to run them Menards yet because I forgot to grab Master locks uh when I was at Fleet Farm but that works out because I got that to fix so all right I'm going to get start start getting some of this stuff set up and then I'll catch back up with you guys once I start getting something going here this is kind of what I got going on just a piece of c channel there this was a a coupling I caught it in half uh threaded the pipe in and then back here I spent uh probably the past 20 minutes or so trying to figure out what I wanted to do any of you guys that do any like metal fabrication or anything like that you know how uh you know how you can just stare stare at something and waste a bunch of time you know like uh like this something so simple that I was overthinking it's just a piece of uh angle iron that I cut up and kind of rounded off the corners and everything but the plan here is just to drill a hole through the center of this pipe and put a pad loock there and that's what's going to hold this right there um I'm not 100% sure if I'm liking the design yet or not I mean it'll work that's for sure but uh yeah I'm not [Music] sure [Music] no [Music] [Music] [Music] n [Music] [Music] no [Music] so both sides are done uh to a point I got to run to Menards now and go get a padlock to put in at these ends here so I'll end up drilling a hole through the pipe through this angle iron and then uh bolt that down or not bolt it down but uh lock that down uh when I'm at Menards I'm going to try finding um I don't know what color you would call this sun faded black to paint the spots that I obviously grown down and whatever else I believe what I cuz I actually painted this box this box used to be red I don't know you can kind of see the color underneath it right there um this truck when I first bought this truck it used to just be a standard truck with a you know a normal bed on it um I found this utility box on Facebook Marketplace somebody already started sanding it down and prepping it to paint it to match their truck but um they lost interest in doing the project there was some welding work that had to be done underneath the Box structural work that had to be done underneath the box so I obviously fixed that all up um maybe well if I think about it or if I can find the pictures I can kind of show the process that I did while I was working on this box of welding and plates and uh crossmembers underneath us making progress and then uh this whole box I actually just used um rattle can you know normal spray paint and uh I put two coats of primer and three coats of black paint on this box and it's it's been holding up pretty well um I'll give it that and uh I can't I'll say it over and over and over again that I can't imagine life without a utility truck so um I guess with that long speech there I'm just rambling though but uh I believe I use kryon uh just normal kryon black spray paint uh nothing special or satin or anything like that so I'm going to run there go get some paint and padlocks and see a um maybe watch a YouTube video or so how to fix those holes in the wall but yeah no I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out um I'm not sure um how I like the way it looks in the back of the truck here I especially when the pipes the these pipes aren't there um the reason why I say that is just CU it looks kind of odd having two pieces of angle iron hanging off the back of the truck but I guess this truck isn't uh you know a SEMA truck or anything like that it's a work truck and it's supposed to be functional so but yeah no I'm uh I'm happy with it I'm glad I went this route instead of having the style that I was talking about where it flipped over the top of the box um because if I got the style that flipped over the box I would need to grab four padlocks I would need to lock Each corner uh doing it this way I only need to buy two padlocks because obviously the front is threaded in to those uh couplings up there uh so you're not going to obviously going to be able to take those off without unthreading this um you know there if there's a if there's a will there's a way you're still going to get into this box you're going to need some cordless tools or whatever and just cut the stuff out of the way but uh if that's the case it is what it is the truck is fully insured for all the equipment that I have in it I'm just uh trying to prevent that uh that insurance claim if it ever did come to that point so all right let's run and uh get some some uh some materials and get going with this all right the fun part is going to be drilling the holes through the pipe and that flange and making everything work so got to dig out the drill and Dad Dad Dead all right found one all right do we start with a small drill first and work our way up or do we just send it I think for this I'm going to start small and and then uh we'll go from there prob use yeah that looks like a good one should probably check see what size these [Applause] are the amount of Master locks I've bought in my life is just sickening just to keep stuff locked up that looks pretty close so we'll try that this would be the driver's side right here get this threaded on and see what we can do that feels tight enough all right I need to grab a vice grips needle no vice grip so I can pinch it inside there hold that over cuz I didn't take an account for this uh hinge for the door there so when you put this in there it's going to kind of be bent around that hinge which it'll work not the end of the world all right I know I got a pair right here [Music] that should work that should work no just to make sure we get this yeah so even if I go dead center with this there'll still be plenty plenty lock there so right on going send it right [Applause] here oo we're through all right let's see if that's a big enough hole for this freaking perfect man you're going to really going to have to try cranking on that to get what you want from inside these bins so that's exactly what I was hoping for and all right get the other side drilled and then we'll get some paint and get this stuff all painted up and I'm not going to have time today to work on the wall there fixing those holes I'm sure you guys are sick of hearing me talking about that but uh I do want to grease the front end of this truck it's starting to make some squeak and noise so get that done and then run home and I'll get this video edited up for you guys and get it posted so when I was at um when I was at Menard's they did not have any kryon paint there so I got this uh flat black paint I think that'll look somewhat close to what I'm doing I'm not painting the entire box so I'm just painting these little spots I don't know how noticeable they will be but and I also noticed they have like a tip that has multiple different um settings on it which which is kind of odd to me I've never seen that before high output low I'm going to try [Applause] three good thing the truck has some dust on it for the overspray not bad not bad and I'm painting painting these pieces with the pipe and it it just to protect the threads that uh um painting these pieces that have the couplings at the pipe threads into with the pipe in it to protect the threads that I need for threading everything in the rest of the threads can get covered up for all I care so that's the reason behind painting it like this for right now I think this paint actually matches like spot on which is awesome I can't even notice the difference OB obiously it's a little bit shinier right now but it's also wet so I'm sure when it dries out you won't be able to tell at all anyways sweet the only thing that sucks about using Rustoleum is it takes like 10 years for this stuff to dry I guess you can spray upside down with these cans now all right so the only downfall I guess to um this side of the Box on the passenger side is it's got this big uh Bin right here which is awesome to have cuz it fits a lot of my big bulkier stuff that I don't use on a daily basis which it's nice have it beenin like that but the only problem is it doesn't lock um it doesn't cover the bottom of the box down here so whatever I have in that Bin's going to be open you know if you really want it to pop in there uh which is what it it's whatever cuz I have a bottle jack um a big bottle jack in there and just a bunch of like consum Ables like grease and and stuff like that so that's not the end of the world for that bin if you want to steal grease from me go ahead I guess I'm not giving you permission but you guys get the idea so I'm going to back this truck up and start greasing the front end and the drive shaft and all that the truck hasn't been greased since I've had it and I've had this truck now for I think I've actually put 60,000 miles on this truck now in the past 2 years this truck gets driven a lot so needs to be done so I backed the truck up because for whatever reason it's still kind of like damp over here it's probably cuz this bucket's still kind of evaporating some of its water out of it so it is what it is that infrared heater it works good but uh I don't think I would ever put one in my own shop I guess put it that way you know it works good to the point where it heats the shop up and everything but it doesn't seem to like dry the shop out um if you had hydronic Heating in the floor this floor would be dry you know within an hour of uh washing anything that thing it's been running now for about a week and there's still wet spots in the concrete here so it's definitely I'm kind of happy that I got this building to find out if I like those infrared heaters and I don't think it's uh I don't think it's worth the money put it that way for for longterm heating how often do you guys grease your trucks and front end components components I know some people they probably do it every oil change and stuff like that I don't know if that's necessary that's my opinion though wow that one's taking a lot of Grease this lower ball joint down here grease on the floor already probably be easier to do this on a lift I'm too fat eventually here I got to um redo the power the gear boox and power steering pump on this truck I don't know how well you guys can see right now but something's starting to leak pretty pretty good but it's working for now so going to keep running it yeah everything's taking a lot of Grease I iess said I should maybe start greasing this thing more often I don't know too fat once again all right well I'm not able to get every I'm not able to get everything greased on here without pulling the tires off and I do not have a floor jack here so that's going to be a future Michael's dilemma so I'm going to do some greasing on the dump trailer kind of get that out of the way for right now I have never greased these Center pins right here here and it's not looking like they're wanting to take any grease so something we going to have to tear into eventually here and look into all right so uh obviously I'm not able to Grease the whole front uh Grease the whole front end on this truck right now because I can't take the tires off so that's going to be uh something I got to do here later on I got to get running soon but I got this pipe back on it actually was not that difficult to thread and get the holes lined back up again um just kind of use common sense if you're sticking out too far you got to thread it back in if you're sticking out too far in you got to thread it back out so that all works out good I'm happy with the way that is that gives me a little bit more peace of mind having those bins locked up like that probably hard to tell on camera but that pipe runs right through the top uh section of that bin runs down the center of that one which this Center bin here has all my power tools in it so yeah I uh that's all taken care of um I'm going to get running home here I'm going to start editing this video and uh we'll catch you guys on the next one thanks again for watching so but uh I'll catch back up with you guys on the next video thanks again for watching see [Music] you
