I moved to say Sacramento in 1991 at that time I was working full time as an architect and I was nine months pregnant the plan was to take a little time off from work of the baby and go back to being an architect I made a baby quilt which I finished the night before our son was born and kept quilting and my quilts got mom traditional pretty quickly way back when I was wanted to be an artist I decided I wasn't I wasn't Michelangelo so why bother and so architecture was always a way of having a profession and getting some design kicks I didn't want to be a starving artist and I actually wanted to be a metal sculptor I took some metal classes in high school I really loved welding and I fell into this with the baby quilt and it doesn't make sense but it's not that different from welding really I mean it's it's a sewing together of materials it's just I get to be in an air-conditioned space and it's clean and the materials are lightweight and infinitely forgiving if I decide I don't like something I can rip a whole section out and you'll never even know it was there so it's it's a very friendly medium
