worship we've just had i love it when we get together and we gather in our rooms and our houses wherever we are and we get to worship god and i want to encourage you when we worship god let's really participate in this let's not just sit at home waiting for the worship leader to encourage you but let's really engage and have a posture of worship that's when we lift our hands we honor god and we worship together and i truly believe that is an incredible credible time that we get to spend together in our worship and i hope you're ready for church today uh we are excited it is the last weekend of january can you believe it you've made it well done man god is up to some great things and we are very blessed to have you with us on the line today as we do church i think it's going to be awesome yes it's going to be good and you know we love to start off our services right so we've worshiped the lord and now what we want to do is we want to be great grateful for all the things that he's done and you know gratitude is such a powerful weapon in this life and i want to share some prayer praise reports that people have shared that that's going to build your faith to um remind you that god is faithful that he can do anything so quinnita from mitchell's plain has said god is so good and merciful he has provided healing for me my sister and my aunt from coveted 19. he is good all the time i love that that is so good and anna marie from our online campus which is so good said god gave me a job just as i prayed and with a large pay rise okay that is good come on somebody and and lastly karabor from bona boom shout out to carabo we would like to say thank you to god for being so good to me and my family for the endless blessings that he has that have come with the new year and the blessings that are on their way i love that they're so powerful thanking god for the blessings that have come but the ones that are still on their way amen and i hope that encourages you i hope that lifts your faith there's a reason why we wanted to start with praise reports today so that people's praise reports can actually build and lift your faith and i truly believe 2021 we are gonna need all the faith all right put together and stronger together and i really believe god's gonna do significant things in 2021 for you and your family i wanted to read the scripture in ephesians 6 a fight to the finish all right first month of the year i truly believe this is the fight that we're fighting together as a church and i always know pastor filner cinder say this we are stronger together and i wanted to read this and i hope this is encouraging you and it's a the message bible in verse 18 and it says take all the help you can get all right all the help you can get i love that because that's why we have connect groups as well all right all the help you can get the people in your connect group the people that you gather with take all the help you can get every weapon god has issued so that when it's all over but the shouting all right when it's all over but the shouting you will still be on your feet standing all right standing and um it goes on truth righteousness peace faith and salvation are more than just words come on those are weapons that god has given us for 2021 truth righteousness peace faith and salvation are more than words learn how to apply them you'll need them throughout your life god's word is an indispensable everybody say indispensable weapon indispensable weapon in the same way prayer is essential and in this on in this ongoing warfare pray hard and long pray for your brothers and your sisters keep your eyes open keep each other's spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out and i want to encourage you with that god has given us the power he's given us the word in 2021 i want you to speak out the life i want you to speak out your healing whatever it is you're believing for provision your new job in 2021 god is already going before you just like he did with moses israel he went before them and i pray that god will go before you so if you need any prayer today come on why don't you lift your hands wherever you are it's a posture of lifting their hands all over wherever you are in jesus name come on let's pray heavenly father we thank you god that today is the day that the lord has made that we get to be in your house celebrated father god we pray god right now wherever everybody is we are standing we are lifting our hands it's a posture of worship we're worshiping you living god across this planet across this world across this continent across africa god everybody that's watching in tuning in right now father i pray that you will bless them god i pray that you will keep them god i pray for a hint of protection all around their family their households we plead the blood of jesus on every single door and every family member god we thank you god keep them safe god i pray for healing right now god i pray for provision right now i pray for new jobs right now god i pray god that you will help us to be strong god to choose your word god that righteousness peace father god i pray that you'll give us understanding to apply your word god in and through this season god and we thank you that you are powerful god we thank you that we can pray the prayer as it is in heaven let it be god in our households let it be in our families and let it be in our wealth and our health this year god i pray as it is in heaven we know there is no sickness in heaven there is no anxiety in heaven god there's no depression in heaven god so let it be there is no covert in heaven lord god so let it be as it is in heaven let it be in our households and in this earth and everybody with me in agreement says amen amen amen amen that is so good powerful powerful prayer and you know what we're gonna practice our gratitude right now we have our gratitude gap and we have 30 seconds where you can just show gratitude to someone in your world text them tell the person next to you love you are you grateful yes who are you grateful for and straight after that we're going to be hearing from zika from our steli's location and he's going to be encouraging us around our generosity in the season [Music] so well church we're going to come around our giving we're continuing our worship right now um what an honor to share on the giving today on the screen is going to come a few ways that you can give you can give with snap scan you can eft and there's a give button you can click to make it nice and easy for you to give today but just a quick thought to encourage you as we're getting ready to give um in joshua chapter seven there's a story of the fall of jericho now if you don't know the bible you're not familiar with biblical stories the fall of jericho was israel's first major battle under the leadership of joshua joshua led the israelites after moses and jericho was their first real test and so god caused the israelites to storm jericho and to take over the city but god gives them one important instruction god says don't take any plunder they were to destroy jericho and not to take anything from that city well the story goes that israel have an amazing victory under joshua they're celebrating it's amazing and the biblical story tells us about a man named ankan who disobeyed god he took gold silver and fine babylonian robes from jericho he disobeyed god and so israel's next battle goes wrong they lose and the next battle goes wrong and they lose and joshua is freaking out he's wondering what have we done wrong god where are you and so he gathers the whole nation of israel and and he's like god what's going on god reveals to joshua that there's a man in the camp who had taken plunder from the from jericho and god reveals to joshua that it was and can and so joshua goes to ancan's tent he takes the gold he takes the silver and he takes the robes back and israel as a nation goes forward and they keep winning victory after victory after victory what an interesting story the the point of that story the thrust of that story is that god is taking israel on a journey of trust see they didn't have to take plunder they didn't have to take anything from jericho because god was leading them into a promised land where they were going to have more than they could ever imagine they were going to have provision they were going to have everything they needed they didn't have to hold back gold and silver from jericho and just like god is taking israel on a journey of trust he's taking us on a journey of trust teaching us and showing us that that that our finances that our tithes and our givings we can give it to him because we can trust him because he is good because he is going to provide for us because he is taking us into our promised land and going to give us all that we could ever imagine exceedingly abundantly and above and so with that thought today why don't you hold your giving or why don't you stretch out your hand to the screen wherever you are whatever you're doing however you are giving and let's pray together over that today lord we thank you for what you're doing we thank you god that even in a lockdown god we can have the opportunity to be generous and to give into your house we thank you god that you are taking us on a journey of trust god teaching us and showing us that if we offer and we tithe and we give you are faithful to your promises so we thank you for what you're doing today in jesus mighty name and everybody's heard amen wherever you are amen amen amen amen in the chat i see you over there that is amazing well um right now we are going to come around the word of god and church let me tell you we are so honored to be hearing from a special guest today we have pastored joanna have a camp all the way from hillsong germany that is going to be bringing us to work today uh joanna along with her husband fry lead our hillsong location all the way across germany and so we are so honored to hear from pastor joanna today and so wherever you are why don't you just stand because we honor the person bringing the word we honor the word in your lounge room wherever you are why don't you stand to your feet and get ready for the word of god today hello hello this is so amazing that i get to speak to our family our hillsong africa family today and um i hope that you're well i hope that you are having a good start into this new year it is still a little bit crazy but it's okay jesus is still on throne and you still have the best lead pastors ever phil and lucinda thank you so much for this opportunity to speak into your people i'm so blessed and i'm so honored and so privileged and you are one of my favorite places in the world africa and um phil and lucinda you are some of my favorite people in the world and so um this is going to be fun in jesus name so um if you would just pray with me for a moment because um we need the presence of god right it's the presence of god that takes ordinary words and actually turns it into something that is life changing the word of god is life changing so father i just thank you for every single person listening in whether they're at home whether they're in a church location god i pray that you would meet every individual in such a personal way we ask you god to take these few minutes and turn it into something that changes our minds that changes our hearts that this helps us to know you more and be more like you jesus and we all pray this together in jesus name ah man amen amen amazing so i'm i want to start today by asking you a question and my question is this do any of you lose anything on a regular basis maybe it's keys your glasses your phone my dad was always losing his keys i can remember as a child hearing the regular call through our house is anyone seen my keys and normally my dad's keys would always be found in the pink crystal fruit bowl in the dining room for me it's my glasses i am forever losing my glasses and my family are a great help because they know at some point in the day i'm gonna walk through the house saying has anyone seen my glasses and so they keep an eye out and it's very helpful i'm guessing we all lose things from time to time don't we and that's pretty annoying but how good does it feel when you actually find something i remember and i'll never forget fryma was meant to be flying to hillsong israel and couldn't find his passport anywhere and thank god we found it underneath the car seat how these things get to these places i don't know but it felt so good when we found that passport and frymark could board that plane well i think today is going to be a good day because i want to talk to you about finding peace finding peace and it feels so good to find peace when i think back to 2020 last year definitely had the potential for us to lose our peace and um i wonder if there's anyone out there today and you feel not at peace somehow last year brought some things along and you're on unrwe agree with saint john you're unpeaceful on the inside i want to tell you that this is a great message for you in john 14 verse 27 jesus said peace i leave with you my peace i give you i do not give to you as the world gives do not let your hearts be troubled do not be afraid here's what i want you to understand right at the outset of this message peace has been given to us as a gift and jesus has never taken that gift away but we can misplace it can't we we can misplace peace and when we do our human nature leads us to look for it in all the wrong places i feel like we look for it in full bank accounts we look for it in peace and quiet we look for it in order and in routine but the peace that jesus has given us is a peace beyond all of that beyond circumstances the peace that jesus gives to us is a sleep in the storm kind of peace it's super natural the peace that we have in jesus it's not based on what goes on around it's based on who he is and on his ability to give it it's based on his ability to lead us as the shepherd it's based on his ability to provide for us as our father in heaven it's based on his ability to heal us as the healer peace that jesus gives us is based on him and who he is and that his arm is long enough no matter what the circumstance to reach in and to say peace be still jesus is unchanging and that is good news hebrews 13 8 says that jesus christ is the same yesterday today and forever no matter what problem you have you can't change who jesus is in james 1 17 it says every good gift every perfect gift is from above coming down from the father of lights with whom there is no variation no shadow due to change this is the kind of peace we need hillsong africa because sometimes the circumstances that we're in aren't going to change this corona thing has been around far too long now we would love it to be over but it isn't yet but the good news is that we can still have peace even though our circumstances haven't yet changed i know that christmas is over but um i actually want to take us to a scripture in luke chapter 2 luke chapter 2 verse 8 and 20 because it talks about the moment where peace arrives read along with me verse 8 and there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby keeping watch over their flocks at night an angel of the lord appeared to them and the glory of the lord shun around them and they were terrified but the angel said to them do not be afraid i bring you good news that will cause great joy for all people today in the town of david a savior has been born to you he is the messiah the lord and this will be assigned to you you'll find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel praising god and saying glory to god in the highest heaven and on earth peace on earth peace to those on whom his favor rests when the angels had left them and gone into heaven the shepherds said to one another let's go to bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which the lord has told us about so they hurried off and found mary and joseph and the baby who was lying in the manger when they had seen him they spread the word of course they spread the word concerning what had been told to them about this child and all who heard it were amazed what the shepherds had said to them verse 20 the shepherds returned glorifying and praising god for all the things they had heard and seen which were just as they had been told did you see it did you hear it peace arrived and peace still arrives in the person of jesus christ i want to say to you today that peace is not the absence of something but rather the presence of someone and that is so powerful the angels declared to the shepherds do not be afraid i bring good news a savior has been born glory to god in the highest and peace on earth peace on earth the angels came with the message peace has arrived jesus has arrived the savior has arrived and the first people to hear that great news were shepherds which at first thought you think why i mean that's kind of strange why did god pick shepherds but i love the bible god is a master master communicator and he is he doesn't do things by accident let me explain a little bit i find it fascinating shepherds were apparently quite low down in israel society they were considered as common and in some historical books it actually says that shepherds were known as thieves one commentary points out if this was the case then we have both jesus's birth and death in the company of criminals can you see that peace didn't just come for the lovely for the perfect peace didn't come for the nice people peace came for all people whoever you are whatever your life looks like you can have peace jesus came for whoever would believe in him you can have peace no matter who you are no matter what you've done no matter what your life looks like secondly some scholars wonder if these particular shepherds might even be shepherds of a sacrificial flock that means part of their job was to look out for a perfect sheep a sheep that was perfectly white with no blemish because the sacrificial lambs must be perfect and when a sheep like that was born they would actually wrap them in cloth and lay them in a padded manger so that they remained perfect so can you see that when the angel told them that they would find a baby wrapped in swaddling clothes laying in a manger and this would be a sign to you they would have understood they would have seen jesus in that manger and seen a picture of the perfect lamb of god who would come and give his life so that we could have peace but what i really want you to notice is verse 20 verse 20 after seeing jesus it says that the shepherds returned glorifying and praising god for all the things that they had heard and seen which were just as they had been told they they returned to the field but this time they were glorifying and praising god can i just remind you they didn't get a job promotion they were still so as seen as the the unworthy the lol people in the community they were still out on the field without any comfort nothing had changed for them other than the fact that jesus had arrived peace had arrived and can i just say in this day and age we need that kind of peace you need that peace because corona hasn't been eliminated yet you might need that piece because that job interview that you went for you didn't get that job yet maybe you've been looking for a place to live and you got refused you got rejected from that place to live maybe you got a bad doctor's report maybe you're worried about the future but can i say this to you that you can have peace in your life without anything changing other than the fact that jesus is right there with you in your midst right there in the middle of the mess it is the presence of jesus that brings peace and it's not like jesus disappears and goes off somewhere in fact jesus promises in hebrews 13 5 that he will never leave us or forsake us and yet we do lose peace don't we ultimately i think we lose it when we lose our awareness of his presence we need something to keep our awareness of him right here right now i remember we actually helped my dad with his key issue we decided we were fed up of the daily calls through the house of where's my keys and so we bought him a little belt um with a special hook on and so my dad would walk around with his keys attached to his body and so he never lost his keys again praise the lord how good would it be if we could have a little keychain for our peace so that we would never lose it never misplace it well the good news is i actually feel like the bible tells us that we have something like that and it talks about it in philippians 4 verse 6. it tells us how to attach peace to our lives so we don't lose it let me read it to you do not be anxious about anything but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your request to god and the peace of god which transcends all understanding will god your heart and your mind in christ jesus verse 8 whatever is true whatever is noble whatever is right whatever is lovely whatever is admirable if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things whatever you have learned or received or heard from me or seen in me put into practice and the peace of god will be with you the apostle paul here is writing these words and i would say he's um he's an expert at having his piece messed with i mean if you read his story you hear that paul has been shipwrecked he's been beaten he's been hungry he's been thirsty he's been cold and right here in philippians he's writing from a prison cell think back to how prison cells were two thousand years ago they must have been pretty awful and so paul is speaking from experience here you can have peace in any situation and this is what he says he's like hey not only can you find peace in jesus but you can keep it you can keep it here's the first thing peace requires conversation with god verse 6 in the message translation says instead of worrying pray let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers letting god know your concerns you know him to pray is to simply have a conversation with god i chat with god all through my day homeschooling here starts again tomorrow so i'm going to be chatting with god a lot over the next few weeks but we don't need to put our holy voice on we just tell him oh god i'm stressed by this i'm not sure how to spread me around so that i can cover every base because you just help me with this if someone upsets me i'm like god that really annoyed me that person that said that could you could you just help me get rid of that feeling could you just help me forgive that person just talk to god talk to god through your day why wouldn't you talk to someone who is interested in you who loves you so much who literally waits to hear your voice and he can do something about your issues let's have conversation with god the second thing peace requires is genuine gratitude verse 6 says with thanksgiving present your requests to god with thanksgiving you know what church if god never did another thing for us he would still be worthy of our highest praise he would still be worthy of our thanks but god does things for us doesn't he but this is what thanksgiving does it puts a focus on who god is and what god has all ready done i am already saved by grace i have an eternity promised to me in heaven i have the assurance that no matter what happens here on earth that everything will be all right in the end oh thanksgiving is definitely a peace bringer amen number three peace requires spiritual discernment verse seven speaks of the peace of god which transcends all understanding we need to be able to discern facts from truth the word of god is our ultimate truth and sometimes the word of god is going to tell a different story to our circumstances but that's what's so amazing we can rely on the word of god and so hey we got a bad report from the doctor we're at peace because isaiah 53 verse 5 says by his wounds i am healed we got turned away from an apartment we were hoping to get but we're at peace because psalm 23 declares the lord is my shepherd and i lack nothing are you getting this we need to be able to have discernment to see more than the here and now the word of god is going to tell a different story to our circumstances and we need to have the mind of christ so that our peace passes all understanding and the last thing number four peace requires a positive thought life a positive thought life verse eight says whatever is true whatever is noble whatever is right whatever is pure whatever is lovely whatever is admirable if anything is excellence or praiseworthy think about these things raima and i we often laugh and jog with each other because he lives a much nicer life than me frimat is one of the most positive people i have ever met in my life and i don't seem to have that gift but i'm very glad that i married someone who does but i have found something that works for me i take that scripture and if i really really i'm struggling to find my peace i think about the one who is lovely the one who is praiseworthy the one who is pure the lord jesus christ because peace is the presence of someone and it's like ah i found my keys there you are jesus i see you for who you are i see that you're with me and peace comes i wonder if you're out there and you've been looking for peace in all the wrong places desperately hoping for situations and circumstances to change trying to gain control over a hectic life well if you've tried to get peace based on your external circumstances you're going to keep losing it can i encourage you today hillsong africa in this current climate what if what if we based our reception of peace on his ability to give it he is still our lord he is still our savior he is still on the throne he is still our shepherd his arm is still long enough to reach down into any circumstance and bring peace could i pray for us in this moment because you can have peace you can find peace you can keep peace you can keep it through prayer you can keep it through gratitude you can keep it through discernment you can keep it through focus father god you see every single person listening into this message right now and i know that for some people the circumstances are dire but i pray spirit of god bring peace in jesus name god we just take a moment to remember you are with us you have given us this gift of peace and you have never removed it i speak peace i pray peace i declare peace in the beautiful name of jesus amen amen be blessed church we'll love you so much and we're praying for you here in germany [Music] well what a powerful word that was by pastor joe anna have a camp a powerful word on the power of peace and i think it's in season for so many of us uh that god wants to bring peace into our lives and he wants to live a peaceful life and he wants to walk us to walk into this 2021 full of peace but hey we would never close the service without praying for people and so if you're joining in today wherever you are joining in from maybe you knew maybe you're visiting uh we actually want to pray a prayer with you and this is the most powerful prayer that that we can pray with you and that's actually the prayer of salvation the prayer to give your life to jesus romans 10 9 simply says if you confess with your mouth and believe in your heart that jesus is lord then you will be saved and so i i would see no greater honor than to lead people in that prayer today and like i said maybe you know that today is your day to actually give ownership of your life over to jesus maybe you know maybe a part of our service and the message spoke to you and you felt that you aren't right with god that you have to make your life right with god today the bible says today is the day of salvation and so it would be my honor to lead you in a prayer maybe wherever you are maybe you're watching from your bedroom maybe you're watching from your lounge room maybe you're watching with some friends if you want to make that choice and make that decision today why don't you just put your hand on your heart or lift your hand or even lift your heart to god you know in your heart whether that's you or whether that's not you and i'm gonna lead us in a prayer today that's gonna that's gonna make you step into this relationship with jesus and so wherever you're watching from repeat this prayer after me say dear lord jesus thank you for sending your son to die on the cross for me right now i give you my heart and i give you my life i give you everything that i am and from today on i will never be the same in jesus name and everybody said together amen amen and amen come on we are so excited for you today if you've made that decision i i'm shouting on the inside and i'll give you a clap on the outside as well but we're so pumped that
