[Music] [Music] they say we're hardwired to respond to danger adaptive bodily reactions against an immediate threat to our survival they happen instantly without thought they are automatic [Music] as we grow our awareness of danger becomes more acute we respond to a threat much quicker if we've already experienced [Music] trauma [Music] in a world where risk has become an option and the threat of being eaten by wild animals is predominantly non-existent what will become of our survival instincts how do we keep our systems firing how do we sharpen our ability to react to danger some people jump out of airplanes while some of us race dirt bikes [Music] the fight or flight response is a direct result of adrenaline being released into the bloodstream it is preparing you to run for your life or stay and fight for it blood flow to the skin is reduced and directed to the arms shoulders legs brain tunnel vision takes over as your focus becomes narrow ironically it's a state of being that becomes addictive some people will seek it like a drug [Music] the problem with dirt bike racing once you're old enough to become fully aware of the dangers the passion for the sport is already in your blood it is a disease without cure [Music] complacency has no place here for nothing will put your senses on high alert more than the sight of a rider leaving the track in an ambulance will you run or will you stay and fight [Applause] [Music] hmm [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] um um [Music] the weld's cracked so i've got to go back to the stocking just to bring it in mate [Applause] [Music] look up i've had a bit of a few laps to think about it but i don't know if it's just because i'm getting older but that's probably it's got to be one of the most brutal race tracks i've ever ridden and the intensity of it the dust the amount of riders [Music] man that's hot she's cooking it's a brutal fast track and you know the cr's been pretty hard on me but it's looking after me at the same time i couldn't ask for a better handling bike in those conditions right now than the way this thing's going if i was younger and fitter i'd probably be coping a bit better but i'm going all right i just want to get it across the finish line it's been a bit of a how can i say an emotional start to this race i was really excited coming out here teaming up with my good mate steve moritz and unfortunately he crashed out in the prologue and has had to leave in an ambulance and i was ready to just pack up and leave it at that but um a couple of young riders the son and the nephew of two guys i used to race many years ago scott stains and jason stone they were paired up noah and trent and noah decided to ride the iron man and trent asked him i wanted him to partner with me and i said well as long as you guys are okay with it then yeah let's do it so here i am racing hmm [Music] [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] [Music] [Music] if you like this stuff and you want to see more don't forget to subscribe to my channel a riemann one and in the comments um yeah say whatever you like in the [Music] comments you
