FESTIVAL OF PRAISE 2008- The Fathers Gift of Love_PART 1

[Music] today we are blessed with past members and visitors alike who have journeyed from far and near invited to join us with jesus's guests to celebrate with us our 60th anniversary and festival of praise under the caption the fathers gift of love a three-part musical and drama production featuring the birth death and resurrection of christ at the heart of who we are and what we do is the good news of salvation god is love his love is deep and wide enough to free us from the chain of sin today we plan to see Jesus high and lifted up today we plan to have a grand time praising the Lord together so relax and enjoy Gretchen and Friends feel free to shout praises unto God say hallelujah and amen raise your hands and clap your hands for indeed God has been good to us by offering his son to die on Calvary's cross for our sins welcome to trench town where everybody is somebody and Jesus is Lord welcome to God's house this is the house of priests you the father's gifts of love the Picts God's plan of salvation for fallen humanity it presents the love of God as revealed in his soul to the divine beauty of the life of Christ which are may partake through music and drama we present Christ the Redeemer of the world but all may come to know him and the power of his resurrection and that his ultimate goal for us is that we spend eternity with him in that place he has gone to prepare this our prayers that you too will be ready to behold Jesus in all his glory when he returns to asha whom the redeemed once long ago when the world seemed totally lost stumbling in the dark night of its own sinfulness God sent his light into the reckless hopeless desperate mids of his fallen creation God said not a giant but a helpless infant not an armored warrior but a baby a vulnerable small baby into hearts that could refuse him and hands that would abuse him God sent his most fragile and yet his most powerful gift his love incarnate his son come with me to Jerusalem during the time of Christ's birth and let's relive the story of love and hope for a dying world as seen through the eyes of those who witnessed the events [Music] the time had finally come and it surprised me not because I knew it was going to happen no we have anticipated this for as long as I can remember but the exact timing now that was a well-kept secret if anyone found out it could have been a disaster this was my area of expertise I was a teacher of the educated one they depended on me when the King needed to know something important he turned to me and I was supposed to know when this would happen but I couldn't grasp this one it was different and finally the big moment the moment that would change everything and I was chosen to make the announcement then late one night while I was studying it all came together frustrated I closed my book and now's the life and stared straight into the starry skies then like a fog lifting I was able to make sense of it it was not mean then right at that instance we had to go announcements ship was made at a moment's notice timing was everything we took the trip found the people made our appearance and with my eyes filling with tears I flew to the front and shouted fear not I bring you good news of great joy which shall be for all people today in the town of David a savior is born to you he is Christ the Lord [Music] [Applause] night so many years ago was a star a star hung in the sky by the father to bring these wise men this color to the feet of the son of god the king wise men you see have a unique position they teach a trained kings they study every piece of literature and every bit of stands and squeeze from that every bit of wisdom of truth and try to impart that truth that wisdom to kings so that hopefully the kings will rule with wisdom so often eludes kings but this one might be different I thought according to the written word of the Jews old God he was to be born in a small poor country Judea which was under Roman rule but what made this king you mean is that your scriptures call that a star will announce his birth and that this child king would be a son of the god no no no the son of the Living God the God that allow the wise men including Malthus are here to understand that the king of the truth will be born soon but they didn't know where or when so the style led them to Jerusalem and Herod the Roman ruler of Jerusalem when we arrived in that city Herod found that we believed that the Jewish King had been born he summoned the chief priests and teachers this birth could mean arrival for King heard how many are you more than 150 people excellency but why expecting three men on camels but you do not know where or when in Judea he was to be born no excellency we don't but the star first appeared more than 18 months ago but you priests and teachers you must know he's supposed to be your king we read your scriptures it said that he should be born according to the Scriptures he is to be born in Bethlehem my majesty then gold maracas are Spears for Raymond Bethlehem with my blessings and when you are found in return here to me so that I cannot worship you also worship Him also kill him is what he really meant one thing is the same with all kings competition is seen as a bad thing a very bad thing Kings rulers by birthright not because you are necessarily the most qualified they tend to be more interested in their own political powers than in their own people if people are allowed to choose to vote this my friend would never happen should I tell him another king [Music] but this one be a real king or another Harold a real king will truly change the plight of his people he would wake up every day with their well-being on his mind he maybe one day there'll be a king who will share as well to these people I'm sure that will happen but where is the one who cares as much or more for his people my friend he would be a king ha true king [Music] he would rule in truth and there it doesn't mean the Messiah not in this forgotten tone how do you remember these things so well I'm beginning to believe that the Messiah would be born in this generation and in Bethlehem Lydia what generation hasn't thought the Messiah would be born to them and if he was why would God tell you that to be just like him send the Messiah and tell only a few women and maybe some shepherds while he was at it but this is different Israel is under Caesars thumb there's soldiers on every street there's got to be a hope for us what are you afraid that they're listening they're too busy with the census making sure we can pay more taxes I'm certain by the way have you seen the bright star outside I don't believe I've ever seen it before what this star it's as bright as the moon mm-hmm never mind well at least the census hasn't hurt our money situation the place is full Ivan saw that night in the stable to a couple the pregnant couple what were you thinking he sent this couple to sleep in the stable she had to be either her eighth or ninth month and seemed to be having some birth pains he had to be smarter than that Smart's had nothing to do with it it was all a part of God's plan what future will this child have with the world the way it is that babies would be in the Messiah [Music] is there a dream for this child where is the king to Leroy [Music] it's ears [Music] [Laughter] [Music] indifferent [Music] Oh really [Music] like the tearoom is there hope for you the children Oh this child one home the children of promise forgotten by everybody except the Romans but have you really forgotten us Lord forgive me a woman for asking but I know you listen to even me who where are you Lord you promised your Messiah to us and still we wait this new child ways and the children of Bethlehem [Music] here [Music] Cheers is there a homeboy [Music] I'm so why the wisemen search for this key the King of glory was born to a poor couple a carpenter and his wife Mary they stayed in Bethlehem after their oldest Jesus was born and they wonder that what had happened to them I became friends with Mary she was so young and they weren't rich who in Bethlehem was I helped her watch her boy and she told me some remarkable things she said and neither she nor I are crazy that's an angel came to her and I told her that she would be with child and that she should name him Jesus and that he would be great and will be called the son of the Most High God you still believe me don't you of course of course he did because I had also gone to chose it in a dream and told him that everything that she had told him was true but life with that burden of knowledge is not a normal life and both Mary and Joseph wrestled with their own hopes and fears what if he is really if this is God's way then all will be well why do you think the further choices he could have chosen a rich family a Pharisee why did he bring us here I wonder - but these are God's ways and they're not ours Mary I don't understand these decisions sometimes at all but if it is his way I know then all will be well [Music] God's ways are not always his plans are knots or glare if we would just be faithful someday we'll understand God's ways are not we [Music] future no let's but swill [Music] the Oh [Music] then we can be still we hold on to these every step you take I won't be sign you there God's ways like not or if we would just be paid who some tame you understand God's ways are not our ways if we are faithful things I will turn if this is not true Oh [Music] [Music] Oh if we would just be faithful someday they'll understand God's ways are not [Music] in the monster took the wisemen to find the christ-child the king of glory was born stable and Lydia a taller entire story to Lydia my visits and all not an easy thing when you're helping to change the diapers of a child who you believe to be the creator of the universe when we finally arrived in Bethlehem it was a huge event 150 people arriving in such a small town and again the father made arrangements his own way Martha's are while arriving at Mary and Joseph psalm met with Lydia first so the people do not realize that this child is to be achievable they don't realize he is to behave and even more they don't realize he is the Messiah Savior God I didn't know you she knew what she was saying I knew her scriptures maybe better than she she was calling this this little child a son of their God everyone's God I would have dismissed it but she believed it with all my heart talked to Mary talked to Joseph and angel visited them he told them that Jesus was the Holy One the Son of God I'll grant you that is certainly a king he is more than a king yes or Messiah or God or hope do you know what you're saying he's just a child born here in Bethlehem as prophesied into the family of Damon as he's not just the child he was born for us he was born to save us he is our home that blessed wool in our hope was born in a humble cattle store Shepard's gathered round to see the greatest gift of all the father's giftable laughter Wars to bring us hope it's new and that there's little ki would eternally breathe his life to me and you you were born to bring us home you were born to bring us the Lord of all you're the hope inside our hearts you were born to bring us you were born to bring us [Music] you're the hope inside our Christmas morning he was born to a humble holy bird Shepard's came and angels to the Savior now wanna the wise men knew this chosen one but bring us home that's new and there's a little he would eternally still depended upon creation to follow through the shepherds were told to find Mary Joseph and the babe in the manger would they go would they spread the word as we had land in the middle of the night when that poor woman should have been sleeping after giving birth to her beautiful new boy a band of the rowdiest shepherds I'd ever see burst into town from the fields yelling and making noise they woke up everybody in lane I knew they would they were chosen specifically they ran all the way from the streets from the fields and flooded the streets overflowing with excitement with joy at first we thought they were all drunk especially when they told Mary that angels had told them where to find the birthplace of the Messiah the Messiah but they were serious what they told Mary confirmed what I had already told her and they became the first person to declare the birth of Christ they were praising mighty God the Prince of Peace Emmanuel's our God is with us [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] Lydia's stories seem unbelievable literally what if she's telling the truth Jesus father and mother were visited by an angel wouldn't that make him who the scriptures say he is true God in this boy remember remember their scriptures he was predicted to be born of a virgin as Lydia said he was he's of the language of Abraham Isaac and David as predicted born in Bethlehem also as predicted certainly fulfilled many of the predictions he may even be there came but Messiah how does the scheme become Messiah my friend it's in the other predictions that he becomes Messiah one you and I know full well this king is to die at the hands of his own people it is not in his birth but because of his death that he used to be known [Music] wisdom asking what is true searching scriptures written by your hand this star has brought me to this moment and now I was accused to believe in something I don't understand how could this be a king born in a manger how could he make a kingdom last forever the wonder of his birth why would he come to earth the Prophet says he is to die why would he leave his throne on high my heart cries out is this eventual story a humble manger to the King of glory the wonder of his birth why would he come to earth why would he come to die this other Kings have died in the hands of their people but remember what their prophet Isaiah says surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows but he was pierced for our transgressions he was crushed for our iniquities the punishment that brought us peace was upon him and by his wounds we are healed surely he would die to save his people the start of brought us here the fulfilled prophecy this is more than a king this is their Messiah the son of God this child this toddler is my lord my one true king one who will in time guide for me this king as none other is worthy of worship my lord my lord - King born in a manger I'll worship You Messiah forever the wonder of your birth the hope of all the earth I stand in awe of love so great I lift my voice to celebrate my heart cries out is this redemption story a humble manger to the king of glory the wonder of his birth the hope of all the earth he came to give me life this Jesus the father's gift of love is Jesus the father's gift of love how do you tell your friends and your colleagues that totally you've come to worship is God the creator of all things these are new ideas even to my fellow wise men and by the way when you bring gifts to him what do you bring to someone who already has a thing they brought with them the most precious gifts the world that offer gold spices and perfumes frankincense and myrrh but in truth I I brought him the one thing that he didn't have because I already given it to you and he brought [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] I went to bed the next day wondering if I'd really experienced what I had with mildew it was too amazing to imagine to be true this little boy was the heir to the throne of the world right in front of my eyes it was so remarkable that I had trouble grasping the idea he even told his fellow wise men and the scholars all laughed at him a king yes they are loud but a god no the god laughable and that's where I came in as I tried to explain all that I'd learn about this Jesus they laughed harder and harder I was humiliated I finally gave up for the day and went to bed like the others I appeared to them that night in a dream we angels can do that you know an angel appeared to me that night in a dream his clothes were like lightning I was terrified the angel told me do not go back to Herod they should have known that Herod was not interested in anything but his own precious power if he found out where the boy was the childhood had bad within days as soon as the angel was finished speaking I was gone I woke up my colleagues were spilling out of their tents haunted by this dream soon enough we figured out that they all had the same dream they weren't laughing anymore and I had the pleasure of asking them if they still believe that this simplest child was simply an earthly king well they didn't go back to Jerusalem and for the first time I learned that when God touches your life sometimes he asks you to change to go another way wherever the Lord leads me now I will follow God's ways are not our ways his plans are not our plan if we would just be faithful someday he'll understand God's ways are not then time will tell if this is not [Music] if we would just be ready for Sunday [Music] God's ways are not [Music] Carta ways are not [Music] the wise men in their entourage [Music] iseman and their entourage left as quickly as they had arrived but they didn't leave in the direction from which they came all except Martha Zara looked terrified but before he left he brought me a gift to perfume he thanked me for telling him what I knew about Jesus gave me my life I told her I thanked him for the gift but he told that I had been the one who received the gift through her I learned about the true gift the father's gift had always search for truth but then the father showed me real truth and life he gave Muin in the gift of love and hope my life is forever changed because of Jesus the father fathers gave total of pageladder [Music] the father saw a toy cause i Oh
