all right so we're out here feeding the feed lot today had a guy ask us he wanted to see the cattle we're feeding with the feed we ground posted that video yesterday so if you haven't seen it go check it out i explained how we grind cattle feed the recipe we use and everything so today it's just gonna be me feeding these guys should be 31 in here and then over here we got the newly weaned calves they were weaned a month ago now but they're a little spookier not quite used to us yet they got that whole pin over there so we'll get you guys some video of the feed lot show you how much we feed them and everything all right [Music] all right so we just got the feeders lined up drive the tractor in cattle are all waiting hungry we give them roughly 14 pounds of the ground ear corn per head per day and then all the hay they can eat so i'm gonna get to scooping 31 in here so about 25 scoops would be roughly 14 pounds per head so so god all our cows are pretty docile they don't give you any hassle when you feed them all right so we're over in the little feedlot now how we do this is they all know they go in the corral i lock that gate in there so that way i can open that gate because they're not as used to being fed so they don't follow the tractor in so they'll go out the gate and run around so they're locked in the crowd right now they don't get near as much food we only give them about five scoops they're not used to the grain yet like say they just got weaned about a month ago so we slowly build them up to the full 14 pounds a day and they're a lot smaller they don't need as much and they also get as much hay as they want so i'm gonna get these guys fed and i'll get you a video here's the young guys these are between six and eight months old get them out of the little pin let them go out to where they can get it the food i just put in their feeder like say they're a little bit more skittish they've just been out with their mothers so they're not as used to us being around all the time so in one of my last videos we were moving cows that's these guys is mother mothers and father uh we have a cow calf operation all the way up to the feed lot and we feed out between 20 and 25 or 25 or a little bit more cattle every year to take to the butcher shop we're lucky we got a butcher shop pretty much just right across the road and then we also haul some to other butcher shops but even though they've only been on corn for a month they figured out it tastes pretty good all those minerals we put in it they love them so as soon as they get a chance to they're attacking it and you always gotta have one that's climbing up in the feeder they they destroy everything they definitely eat the grain up that's the big feed lot and the time it took me to feed the little feedlot open and close all the gates get the wagon put away and let these guys out they're already done eating and coming up for their water so fill in the water tank i gotta go put the feed grinder away from yesterday so by the time i get done doing that and a few other things around here water tank will be full so i can shut that off we have a float on it in the summer but it's been freezing up pretty hard here last couple of days so can't have a float anymore all right happy full cows that one's about ready for butcher and then there's a pretty big one with a little bit blue on it back there this guy pushing his way up big white face back there we got i believe four of them going to the butcher shop next monday all right so i'm gonna get the feed grinder put away [Music] like i said my video i posted last night it was dark when i got done grinding yesterday so i didn't have a chance to put it away one try perfect all right so the water tank's full enough that'll be plenty of water for them to last till tomorrow just wanted to thank you guys for watching as always like and subscribe hope you guys enjoyed seeing the feedlot cattle today have a good one you
