hey guys welcome back so today i'm going to do an updated feed routine my feed has changed a little bit since um the last time i shot one of these my horses have probably been on this diet for about six months now um there's a lot of reasons as to why i changed which i will get into a little bit later but for now i just want to show you guys my uh kind of latest setup in the grain room and i'm going to go over what each individual horse eats and how many times a day and then make those and weigh those and yeah so here's my green room i know what the grain room looks like i have my buckets up there the feed schedule over here which is actually not 100 accurate as there's only room for 16 horses and there's a lot more than 16. and around the outside um normally i start over here these are obviously my supplements um i have flax timothy and bermuda pellets beet pulp this is equine purina adult this is chop it's alfalfa timothy chop then i have light senior complete with another can of complete balance low starch and then the other can over here is a 12 grain that is a filler i also have my table here with all my buckets and there's more grain underneath here for horses that have specific grain or clients that have their own so first i kind of want to talk about why i switched grain i was sponsored partnered with high gain feeds which i did really love their feed but i just found that it didn't work for every horse i was having to use a lot of different kinds of feeds now i've switched over to mainly triple crown i'm not sponsored by them i'd love to be but i'm not sponsored by them um i just really like their formulations a lot of their grain the first ingredient and main ingredient is beet pulp which is really beneficial especially for a lot of my horses that are thoroughbreds that have some gastric potential gastric distress it's really good for the hindgut and such they also have a pretty wide variety of feeds that work for a lot of my horses which is why it's pretty much all i carry in here for the most part other than my bulking feeds which i've always kind of had um but yeah so i have um they're light which is right here which i use for a lot of the easier keepers or ones that don't do well on really high protein that have alfalfa on their diet kind of thing um troy zinn and griffin are on this as well as some other pellets and such which you'll see later but it is a 12 protein 3 percent fat and 20 fiber so the fiber is still pretty high which i like but it is only three percent fat which is nice then i have the senior right here it's a 14 protein 10 fat 17 fiber so this is obviously a lot higher fat than the light um it is a little bit higher protein as well but this has i mean all of these feeds have the equinix they have like probiotics in them and all their vitamins and minerals and i don't know i'm a fan then i have complete which is a 12 protein 12 fat and a 15 fiber so that's what i use for my harder keepers just because it's such a high fat content um over here which you can't see i have balancer which is a ration balancer so for the ones that aren't getting like multivitamin or eating a lot of um like grass hay and stuff like that i'll give that to them it is a 30 protein feed 3 fat 5 fiber so most of the time i'm feeding a very small amount of that just so they get their vitamins and then i have low starch over here which i like because it's whole grain alfalfa and molasses free um that's 13 protein 6 fat and 18 fiber and that's probably my favorite feed that's in here um i just feel like it's a really good start feed for almost any horse that comes in and then i can kind of switch around what i need or you know cut that ration with something else but that's it's one of my favorites in here for sure the other thing i want to talk about is weighing grain so a lot of people will measure their grain in scoops which is great if you know how much that quantity or that volume weighs i have a little scale in here so if i ever do get a new um grain per se i can just turn on my scoop i mean turn on my scale and then put however much well first zero out your scoot and then put however much grain you know i'm looking to feed let's say that i want to do two pounds of the low starch morning at night i figure out where that is in here and then i can just go by that every day where it is on the on the scoop so i don't weigh in every day but it's good to know just because some of these you have to feed a certain amount to get the um recommended i guess amount for probiotics or vitamins and minerals or biotin or selenium or whatever it is so that's kind of how i do my grain so the first horse i want to start with is d so d has since been retired so his feed has changed a little bit um in the last few months here but basically his is pretty simple um he's a little bit lower maintenance these days i just give him two and a half pounds which is about a full scoop of senior morning and night that way it covers a lot of the bases as far as minerals and such just because i'm not supplementing him as heavily as before now this is a little bit higher fat but he is going out in pasture right now and actually burning some of those calories off just by running around playing with his friends and stuff like that so i do break it up in two meals for him as well so he has something to look forward to when he comes in from paddock as far as these supplements go right now he's fairly simple i will go grab himself so just so you guys know for all my horses to save me time in the morning i do scoop their grain fresh but most of them i put all their supplements into these little deli cups which i got off amazon for super cheap um they have about a week or so worth prepped out of this so all i have to do is pop top and go but for today's purposes just so i can show you what each horse gets i'm not going to be using these i'm going to be doing all their individual supplements so indeed's morning bucket which is the one with the letter d on it the other one has nothing um in his morning supplements he gets one smartpak well of smart digest ultra so this is a newer thing for me i don't normally like to use smartpaks because i think they're wasteful even though they're recyclable i just i don't really like the individual used stuff but i have all my horses now on call care so this is what i have for that d also receives one ounce scoop of chia seeds morning and night this is mainly because i don't give them psyllium husk anymore um once a month i just do chia seeds every day because they do have a mucilage content meaning they move sand through the gut you're also pretty good in omega-3s because he's not on an omega-3 supplement anymore and magnesium since he's not on a calming and muscle recovery supplement the magnesium are pretty high so that's why i feed him back next this is redmond rock salt he gets one scoop in the morning and one scoop at night and then d's final supplement is platinum performance cj he gets 156 grams and he gets one scoop in the morning and one scoop at night ish and that's all for these feed pretty simple so i'll just kind of toss it around like that stack it that's his feet next i want to do my six-year-olds zinn and griffin they're both very very similar in their feeds i think there's only like one thing that's different as far as supplementing goes ew there's a bug in there so i want to do them together so first to start for these guys they get a two quart scoop of timothy pellets comes out to be about a two pound ratio that is a little i don't really care how much they get of that it could be a little over two pounds or a little under two pounds um just because it is hay but i'm gonna grab that really quickly i forgot to mention as well that is morning and night now the next thing they get is the do-more alfalfa timothy chappe i add this for fiber and slow them down they're both not super quick eaters but it just makes them really chew their food and salivate which makes digestion easier it also ups the fiber ratio which we always love lots of fiber in their diet now again this isn't something that necessarily is weighed for vitamins and mineral exactness like i'm not trying to find an exact measurement i really just give them one big handful morning and night the last thing they get just two quarts of light split between the two meals normally i'll put a little bit more in the morning since that's when they get their supplements and just a little teeny bit at night because their night is more like a hay mash but i do like to keep it fairly even just so their gut is receiving the same things to process so for supplements these guys get a fair amount of supplements um they probably get the most out of everyone next to troy so they both get one scoop this is ukili i don't know uh gut i feed this to all of my horses um that have had gastric discomfort in the past or just are hard showers they get like a heaping scoop just in the morning i live by this stuff i absolutely love it some people might be a little bit worried there is licorice root in this but it is deglycarized licorice root it is show legal because they have removed the ingredient that is not sure legal [Music] then i have redmond rock salt they both get a scoop they're both very good drinkers so that's just for the sodium more so than over drinking water and then i'm just trying to finish this supplement up it is ukili's seroquin i had this for d as you can see but he stopped eating it so now i give the boys a half a scoop each they're not on any other magnesium um other than pure magnesium oxide or like any sort of calming powder so i just figured i was like well i'll just give it to them i guess so the other thing still banking off digestive support my horses and one other get this four time concentrate aloe vera juice it's way more cost effective and concentrated compared to the stuff you can get at trader joe's um i believe it says a cap full morning and night for the loading dose but now we're past that so my horses only get half a cap unless they're at a show or doing some sort of stressful event then i'll just bump it to one cap full of this very palatable they seem to not mind it or even know it's there and it's really cost effective so i'm a huge fan of that [Music] also on digestive support i have their probiotics which are the ultra crews [Music] probiotics oops they are pre and pro um i'm just running out of the pellets now normally they have some extra today normally zinn and when i had d on it they would get the powdered ultra cruise it's just a little bit more cost effective than the pellet so i was just trying to use up the end of the pallets it's the same formula minus its alfalfa meal instead of just the powdered probiotic so i wanted to use the rest of that so that's the only reason that zen is not on the powder right now i still have the powder i just i need some space on the shelf over there so i needed to get that out of the way sorry for the demon voice the next thing biotin so because my horses don't eat um quite the recommended amount of the life to receive to receive the amount of biotin that um i would like i do supplement just a little teeny scoop of pure biotin just to make sure that their feet are growing at a good rate and their hair and everything like that so that's just pure biotin pretty easy peasy next is mega cell from mvp it is a multivitamin again because my horses don't get the full amount of the grain because they're fatties um i do give them a multivitamin because griffin is on more alfalfa and this is mega cell which is for a grass-based diet he only gets half a scoop of the multivitamin as whereas then gets a full scoop cc is on mostly grass and again this is just a supplement i'm running out of i will not be replacing it because it has cinnamon flavoring in it is no longer sure legal so since we're in the off season i figured i would just use the rest of them because i won't be using it anymore um but that is just again a tryptophan supplement which i'm not a huge fan of i don't see a big difference on it to be honest but now we're out of it so that's okay [Applause] so we're on the home stretch now if you can't tell by the trend so far i'm really big on digestive support um so griffin and zin both get their well of smart digest ultra which is just more premium probiotics and pectin and all kind of stuff like that and it is for their colicare so i feed them that because of that which in the future i might go down to a half a scoop of my ultra cruise probiotic just because they're also getting this i just like the rates of the cfus which are the colonies colony forming units um better in that than the smartpak i just obviously want to be in the colicare so um then they both get a teeny scoop of pure magnesium to help with muscle recovery and last but not least this is redmon rock daily gold again it's a stomach buffer and that's it before i start troy i did forget one thing in griffin's bucket which is they both get six ounces of the ground flax so i'm gonna go add that right now before i forget again all right so for troy this is really easy it's very similar to griffin and zinn's he gets a half a scoop of timothy pellets in his pm bucket only a quarter scoop in his morning bucket next troy also gets the alfalfa timothy chop um he gets a larger quantity in the morning than at night [Music] troy gets two and a half pounds of the triple crown light and it is split evenly between his morning and night and then he gets half a scoop of the low starch which is split between his morning and night okay so since i have all of this right here troy also gets one scoop of magnesium just a small scoop for his muscle recovery he also gets one big scoop of ukili gut and a half a cap of aloe one scoop of redmond rock salt one scoop of ultra cruise powder probiotics because i just used the rest of the other stuff which is what they normally do because smart digest ultra smartpak well daily gold redmond equine [Music] troy does not get biotin because his feet are wonderful and his tail growth and hair growth is wonderful so i just don't need it for him he does get one scoop of mega cell again he's on all grass hay so yep and then he gets one scoop of pure flex joint powder which is glucosamine chondroitin msm and h.a he is an older working horse he works very hard so he gets a joint support i would put him on platinum performance but he's allergic to it so i also supplement all of my horses with psyllium once a month so it is uh that week i will be feeding them sewing for seven days so that is why he got that but that is not every day the only other thing troy gets he gets wild gold premium with algae biomass and aloe um this is camelina oil so instead of getting flax he gets this just because the omega-3 ratios are better and it does help suppress inflammation so he gets that as well he only gets one to two ounces kind of depending on the season right now because we're going into winter he gets two ounces because it's a little bit colder and he gets a little bit stiffer but he does get that i don't add it into these buckets just for cleanliness sake it goes straight into his feeder all right next is remington he's the last horse that gets double feeding um everyone else just gets a single feed because they don't get enough feed for me to want to break it into two separate feedings so yeah so remington gets three pounds which is just over a scoop of triple crown in the morning and at night he also gets two and a half pounds of senior morning at night as well as one full scoop of soaked beet pulp which i don't even want to tell you the dry mount because i use stanley beet pulp pellets which expand like i don't know maybe 10 times their volume i literally will put one scoop and it fills a whole five gallon bucket so um he gets one scoop split between morning and night as well which i don't add until i'm making their grain up top so you might be like oh my gosh why does he get both grains well um i like the high fat content from the complete but i also like the high protein content from the senior so that way i can find a it's like 11 fat 13 protein um so it's somewhere in between which it wouldn't really be a big deal if it was one way or the other but again the senior seems to be his favorite um and i would rather him be on the complete so that's just why he gets that um also again he isn't on a ton of supplements so this way he is getting like the biotin the selenium minerals that he needs um but yeah that's why he gets that goodbye so remington only gets three supplements he gets one scoop of electrolyte just apple elite electrolytes one scoop heaping scoop of buchili's gut and one scoop of try amino and that's all i get so trip is next um i'll start with saying he also gets a scoop of beet pulp it's only in the morning though um but i will add that obviously later other than that he gets one and a half quarts of equine purina adult which is the bulk of his feed um again it has pretty decent fiber content which is why i give him that 25 fiber um but he also gets the low search just because it's a little bit higher in fat and it is still whole grain alfalfa and molasses free because he's a bit of a wild man in the winter and he does not need any extra energy so then he gets half a scoop or one quart of low starch so tripp also gets one scoop heaping scoop of ukili gut he gets one scoop of his pure flex which is the same supplement try gets and one scoop of mvp mega salt which is multivitamin now tripp normally gets a probiotic as well he's just out of it right now um what he is on temporarily is equiox he just had his neck injected so he's supposed to be on this for two weeks so i'm just going to add that into his ring and that's all for here killing it next is jameson he's really easy he just gets a handful of the fiber chop and then he gets half a scoop of triple crown low search and half a scoop of producer's provide 12 grain now zoe why do you use 12 grain instead of equine purina adult well this one's higher in fiber and it's more expensive that one is cheaper and lower in fiber he gets the alfalfa timothy mix um as his replacement fiber why do you do that because james needs really fast and he needs the chop to slow him down so that's why i have that in there just because i carry it for my horses so i just put it in there it's easier jameson again is really easy when it comes to supplements he is actually currently in the hospital um but i have to bring his grain over as he's extending his stay because he's having surgery on his knee um but regardless i have to make this for him and bag it anyway but he gets one and a half scoops of osteon this is for his knee in the recovery and he gets one and a half scoops of platinum performance this is just the general wellness not the cj um he also gets the magnesium more so for calming effects with him um yeah that's it next is prince so prince was a bit of a hard keeper he had a lot of gastric issues when he first came in um so because of that we like to keep him on a little higher fat uh and fiber feed mainly fat he's actually a really good weight now but we do keep him on the complete because he's happiest on that oh my gosh so he gets two quarts of complete and one quart of the 12 producers prime and that's just to book his feed um a little bit without adding you know giving him like a huge scoop of complete that's the lowest fat and protein i have in here i believe um yeah so that's why we add that just to kind of break it down a little so prince is out of two supplements right now they're coming but due to covid it's been kind of crazy getting supplements um he's normally on equinity and omega horse shine but right now he only has his gut uh which is here so he gets that and then he gets one scoop of the magnesium oxide for those wondering this is just ukiles magnesium oxide powder it's not the most palatable but my purses have been fine so pilot pilot gets a very small amount of the chop that looked like a lot but it's very loose then i got half a scoop of equine purina adult and half a scoop of the producer's fried and again those are the lowest um protein lowest fat that i have in here because he's a fatty pilot normally would have his um aloe got basically the same alvaro juice that i feed but he's out right now it is in the mail um he gets magnesium and he also gets biotin and lastly pilot gets six ounces of platinum performance which is a heaping scoop in my opinion next we have cash orange cash we have two cashes the orange one the orange one gets half a scoop of equine purina adult and half a scoop of producer spread [Music] cash also has one packet of cj which is 156 grams platinum performance again not a big fan of the disposable one time usage but that's how it comes and he gets one scoop of electrolytes [Music] and that's all for cash next we have black cash um he has a black coat so hence black cash and orange cash he gets just under half a scoop of scenario and a half a scoop of balance and all cash gets is he gets a pill of percent and a pill of equiox he's an older gentleman he has cushing's so that's why he gets that and that's all next we have checkers checkers is pretty easy he is half a scoop of balancer and then normally i will uh scoop these with the same scoop which i don't recommend if you have really larger courses but he has a quarter scoop of low starch and a quarter scoop of producer's pride he's really tubby but he won't eat just the balancer so that's what i figured out to work for that's all i guess i'm going to do cody and duchess together because i normally just get one scoop and and split evenly between the two they get one heaping scoop of probios and that just gets a tablespoon or so of mayor magic and that's it i guess i didn't mention what grain that duchess and cody get they get the same as roman and sqweep integrity senior um roman also gets a half a scoop of integrity senior and my mom actually makes up roman's uh supplement packet so i don't even have his supplements in here so i will have to use one of these today but he gets soy lecithin um for co daily gold ultra crews probiotics and electrolyte i think that's everything there i might be wrong but i think that's everything and then he also gets two scoops of mikko's choice cbd he did break his leg in 2016 so this keeps him nice and comfortable everyone also gets half a scoop of beet pulp i don't remember if i said that for prince or not but prince and trip also get beet pulled squeak squeak gets one scoop or two and a half pounds of integrity senior which is no molasses low starch squish it's one scoop of u-guard which is for ulcers uh prevention and then a heaping scoop of probiotics probios that's all for squeak i didn't ivan is really only if he actually comes to me so he just gets a little bit of senior and a little bit of balancer and when i say little i mean like hardly anything i need it's one scoop of magnesium because well anything about ivan he is a wild little man i should rephrase that ivan is a mustang a little quirky sometimes pop gets one pound or one quart of omeleen 200. a little magnesium and he has navicular so he stays on one equiox every day and that is all for kava last but not least is cali he probably gets half a scoop of bermuda pellets and half a scoop of equine purina adult kelly gets one scoop redman rock salt a generous half a scoop of platinum performance osteon she does have a bad knee for those that don't know and two scoops of platinum general wellness she gets two scoops compared to her brothers because she doesn't eat any alfalfa and that's all oh wrong that's not all she also gets mary magic so i have to give her a little bit more mirror magic and i also have to soak it it is a little bit uh it's not name brand mirror magic like duchesses is i get it off amazon which it's in my amazon store which i will link down below but it is a bigger particle grind so the leaf chunks are a little bigger so it helps if you steep it in hot water which it's time to go get hot water now that we're done here so i'm gonna finish cleaning up and then i'll take you along to feed each horse mine is jameson because he's not here [Music] so [Music] enjoy are you hungry or something enjoy old man are you prince you [Applause] so hi cow hello hank how are you today you have dapples i've never seen a cow with apples before hello okay bye bye hank so i just want to say one more thing before i say goodbye is um i'm no veterinarian or nutritionist i do balance all of my feeds on feed xl and have consulted my veterinarian and equine nutritionist that being said what i feed my horses won't necessarily work for your horses so please consult your veterinarian or nutritionist before you start feeding something new or even thinking about trying anything that i'm feeding um this is just what works for me and i hope you guys enjoyed watching this i will see you all next time make sure to tell me below what your horses eat and yeah i'll see you guys next time you
