hello and welcome to the Sacred Heart Catholic community we are most pleased to welcome you most especially on this feast of the Sacred Heart it is our feast day and so we wish all of our members a very happy feast day our liturgies this weekend will be for the following intentions the intention of the Emmaus Sisters Kevin go glia ken salem Nancy Hayes Marianne de barrio Giuseppe - Maria no Ted Silva Patricia culvert and the intention of Cheryl Baily the tabernacle light this week is in memory of the deceased members of the Arnold's family and so we begin [Music] that's where the love really but please receipts and children tell how hustler 214 hopes and dreams and visions [Music] [Music] let us how sweet [Music] justice you're the love of Jesus in time and space has beasts and phrases Oh [Music] in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit the Grace and the peace of God our Father the immense love the wisdom and joy of our resurrected and ascended Savior Jesus the Christ and the Fellowship of their Holy Spirit be with you all well happy feast day to all of my beautiful prisoners of Sacred Heart Catholic Church here in Punta Gorda it is our title feast and we celebrated with great joy what a treasure we have in the readings at this Eucharist and what a beautiful time to have the intimacy with Christ for which our hearts most deeply longed to prepare ourselves to celebrate with fullness and with joy this sacred mystery let's take that big spiritual clarifying breath together in and let's breathe out all of the contents of our lives all of our burdens and cares let's surrender everything and become childlike and simple for this time of prayer let's take that second breath in and on the exhale we welcome a moment of blessed refreshing silence to are very busy and active minds we are ushered into the contemplative dimension of our faith and we take that third deep spiritual breath in and on the out-breath as we exhale we think as deeply as we can into our hearts into the depths of our hearts there to find present within us the Sacred Heart of Jesus himself who longs to be with us an intimacy and in peace lord have mercy Christ have mercy lord have mercy may Almighty God have mercy on us forgive us our sins and bring us to everlasting life [Music] these [Music] we praise you we bless you we tow you [Music] Oh [Applause] [Music] while Jesus cry Oh [Music] you take away mercy on take away the sins of yes [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] to kind [Music] let us pray grant we pray Almighty God that we who glory in the heart of your beloved son and recall the wonders of his love for us may be made worthy to receive an overflowing measure of grace from the fount of heavenly gifts through our Lord Jesus Christ your son who indeed lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit one God for ever and ever a reading from the book of Deuteronomy Moses said to the people you are a people sacred to the Lord our God he has chosen you from all the nations on the face of the earth to be a people particularly his own it was not because you were the largest of all the nations that the Lord set his heart on you and chose you for you are really the smallest of all the nations it was because the Lord loved you and because of his fidelity to the oath he had sworn to your fathers that he brought you out with his strong hand from that place of slavery and ransomed you from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt understand then that the Lord your God is God indeed the faithful God who keeps his covenant down to the thousandth generation toward those who love him and keep his commandments but who repays with destruction a person who hates him he does not dally with such a one but makes them personally pay for it you shall therefore observe the commandments the statutes and the decrees which I enjoin on you today the word of the Lord [Music] the Lord's kindness is everlasting to those who fear [Music] yes no no my son my being bless His Holy Name bless the Lord O my soul and forget not all of his benefits [Music] [Applause] [Music] he redeems your life from destruction with gosh [Music] a reading from the first letter of Saint John beloved let us love one another because love is of God everyone who loves is begotten by God and knows God whoever is without love does not know God for god is love in this way the love of God was revealed to us God sent His only Son into the world so that we might have life through him in this is love not that we have loved God but that he has loved us and sent his son as expiation for our sins beloved if God so loved us we must love one another no one has ever seen God yet if we love one another god remains in US and his love is brought to perfection in us this is how we know that we remain in him and he in us that he has given us his spirit moreover we have seen and testify that the father sent his son as the savior of the world whoever acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God God remains in him and he in God we have come to know and to believe in the love God has for us god is love and whoever remains in love remains in God and God in him the word of the Lord [Music] all those who live in [Music] region 4 they [Music] [Applause] [Music] the Lord be with you a reading from the holy Gospel according to Matthew at that time Jesus exclaimed I give praise to You Father Lord of Heaven and Earth for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the little ones yes Father such has been your gracious will all things have been handed over to me by my father no one knows the son except the father and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the son wishes to reveal him come to me all who labor and are burdened and I will give you rest take my yoke upon me upon you and learn from me for I am meek and humble of heart and you will find rest for yourselves for my yoke is easy and my burden is light the gospel of the Lord my dear friends this beautiful reading from the first letter of John and followed by these verses in the Gospel of Matthew are some of the most intimate and tender words of the Holy Scripture and on the Feast of the Sacred Heart what a beautiful message for us so timely and just so right on I'm so feeling the love of these scriptures are you I hope so but Jesus says this beautiful invitation come to me all you who labor all you who are weary and find life burdensome and I will give you rest Wow when I read that all week long I was thinking hmm weary I think especially during this time everyone can relate to that human reality let's all get in touch with our weariness think about this for a moment in what areas of your life right now are you feeling weary world weary relationship weary demand weary the list goes on but we all have it Jesus now invites us to realize that our weariness is a door that opens into perhaps the most intimate the most tender the most beautiful and comforting message of Jesus where he says I will give you rest take my yoke upon you which is nothing other than love and you will see your hearts will find rest and you'll see that what I ask of you is easy and my burden is light oh how I love these words I wish everyone could savor and taste them and I know no better way than for us to practice the ancient art of Lexi Oh Davina you know how I love words Lexi Oh el ec t I oh we see that word don't we it's a Latin root word but we see it from words like lectionary which means a composite compilation of readings when someone is proclaiming the Word of God in church we call her or him a lector so Lexi Oh is reading and Davina div I na you can imagine is divine so sacred reading divine reading and this is the ancient art we read a text in scripture slowly carefully savoring each and every word and we look for the sentence the phrase or even the little word that kind of stands out among the others and says I'm for you today this word is for you very personal it's a general thing when I practiced my Lexi o Divina on this reading I was just so struck with those words come to me you weary and then you memorize this you bring it into your interior life and repeat it from memory over and over quietly gently and you might even choose to just stay with a word I stayed with weary and let that percolate through the system this is a process of rumination of savoring that divine message that divine word and then up from the floorboards you will notice you will come certain memories certain ideas images and you allow them and realize these are only parts of yourself that long to be given over to God with the rest of you you don't fight the distractions you welcome them and the word is weaving its way through all of that truth and reality of your inner life so after a period of we first read second period is pondering then finally were invited to pray and praying here is an inner conversation you have directly intimately with God you speak to God from your heart heart to heart and this can take the form of sentences phrases words ideas can be images imagination what have you it doesn't really matter it's just the point that you are having a conversation with God back and forth it's a very precious time of real one-on-one intimacy and nothing is more mystical than that you speak with the Lord as to one who you know loves you and once you're good you speak to God as one who thoroughly knows you and accepts you always just as you are because that truth is the only way we can come to him and that's all he wants how beautiful that we take time to enter that sacred space that divine space realizing we have this beautiful tradition of Lexi o Divina that requires only a quiet it's time to look upon the Lord present within you you have no need of great wings to fly in the sky to search for God and when you practice lectio Divina we we don't look for ecstasy some lightning bolts because he doesn't often do that to us it's more of a very gentle that still small murmuring voice that we recognize as truly divine living within us happy feast day of the Sacred Heart in the name of the Father the Son and Holy Spirit and so do you believe in God the Father the Almighty the maker of heaven and earth I do too and do you believe in his son our Lord Jesus Christ who was born of the Virgin Mary suffered under Pontius Pilate was crucified died and was buried I do too and do you believe that Jesus who died rose from the dead that he ascended into heaven and we say this wonderful metaphor that he's seated at the right hand of the Father and that to him alone is given the divine right to judge anyone the living and the dead I do - do you believe in the Holy Spirit the Holy Catholic Church the communion of the saints the forgiveness of sins the resurrection of the body and life everlasting I do - this is our faith and we celebrate it with great joy in peace and in love on this tremendous gift of a Feast of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Christ we can pray to the Father with great confidence because in Christ he has set his heart upon us and chosen us as his beloved people for the Catholic Church and her leaders especially Pope Francis Bishop Dewayne that they may be convincing sign and instrument of Christ's love we pray to the Lord or peace and reconciliation in our divided world that human hearts everywhere may be set free from fear hatred and violence we pray to the Lord for those who labor and are overburdened that the gentle heart of the Savior may bring rest to their souls we pray to the Lord that while the coronavirus remains a threat to the health and welfare of many people government and church officials will make informed and wise decisions to protect the lives of those they serve we pray to the Lord for all fathers living or deceased for those nearby those who are separated from us by many miles disease or division that they may all be embraced and strengthened by the loving arms of God who is the father of us all we pray to the lord for all who have died may the light of Christ lead them to eternal glory for our loved ones for the sick and the homebound the military for law enforcement personnel and our first responders and for all those who will be remembered at Mass this weekend we pray to the Lord father you have shown us divine love in and through the Heart of Jesus hear our prayers as we offer you the sacrifice that takes our sins away we ask this through Christ our Lord [Music] there is a place for the sadness there is a seas he replied bells [Music] cultivate a little car [Music] bah is fun [Music] oi [Music] dr. love [Music] [Applause] [Music] but every fear overwhelms [Music] her VG paper sustained [Music] violence seeks to destroy [Music] all that enough [Music] Gracie's Oh [Music] well Oh [Music] [Applause] hold on or not [Music] pray my brothers and sisters that my sacrifice and yours may be acceptable to God the Almighty father look Oh Lord we pray on the surpassing charity in the heart of your beloved son that what we offer maybe a gift acceptable to you and an expiation of our offenses through Christ our Lord the Lord be with you lift up your hearts let us give thanks to the Lord our God it is truly right and just our duty and our salvation always and everywhere to give you thanks Lord Holy Father Almighty and eternal God through Christ our Lord for raised up high on the cross he gave himself up for us with a wonderful love and poured out blood and water from his pierced side the wellspring of the church's sacraments so that one over to the open heart of the Savior all might draw water joyfully from the springs of salvation and so with all the angels and saints we praise you as without end we acclaim [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] whoa [Music] you are indeed holy O Lord the fount of all holiness make holy therefore these gifts we pray by sending down your spirit upon them like the dewfall so that they may become for us the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ at the time he was betrayed and entered willingly into his passion he took bread and giving thanks broke it and gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and eat of it for this is my body which will be given up for you in a similar way when supper was ended he took the chalice and once more giving thanks he gave it to his disciples saying take this all of you and drink from it for this is the chalice of My Blood the blood of the new and eternal covenant which will be poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins do this in memory of me the mystery of faith [Music] therefore as we celebrate the memorial of his death and resurrection we offer you Lord the bread of life and the chalice of salvation giving thanks that you have held us worthy to be in your presence and minister to you humbly we pray that partaking of the body and blood of Christ we may be gathered into one by the Holy Spirit remember Lord your church spread throughout the world and bring her to the fullness of charity together with Francis our Pope and Frank our Bishop and all those who serve you remember also our brothers and sisters who have fallen asleep in the hope of the Resurrection and all who have died in your mercy welcome them into the light of your
