Fasting & Praying: Most Underrated Spiritual Weapon Against the Devil - Martin’s Midday Message.

hello i'm live i am live already i want to talk today about what i believe is one of the most ignored weapons for the believer and the reason why so many people are not victorious in their christian life i think it's it's um it's extraordinary because jesus made this comment about uh fasting and he said in matthew chapter five he said not if you should fast and pray but he said when you should fast and pray and jesus had many many battles with the enemy and one of the reasons jesus i believe one of the main reasons jesus overcame the enemy was he understood the spiritual power in fasting spiritual power there is so much spiritual power in fasting and we're all in a battle most of our battles we have the majority of our battles we have are not personal battles they're not health battles they're not financial battles if you're a believer they are spiritual battles there are powers and princes and demons who are sent against you from hell to attack your finances to attack your marriage to attack your children to attack your health to attack your mental well-being and to win this battle and be the overcomers the word of god says we are meant to be victorious in every battle but we have to use the weapons that god has put at our disposal on one of the greatest weapons and one of the most ignored weapons in christendom is fasting in fact these days you know people are so um they're so taught just about the love of god and was it's such an unbalanced teaching that that god loves you and you just have to enjoy him and and but but if you don't if you and and if you say to people no no you've actually got to seek god and fast and pray they'll call you religious but the people who call you religious when you do that most of them are defeated i'm telling you unless you pray and unless you fast the devil will have a field day with you he'll have a field day with you because jesus you can't improve on jesus it says in uh in luke 4 jesus he was baptized at the jordan went into the holy spirit then he went here he was led by the holy spirit into a battle with satan and he was in the in the desert 40 days with satan satan tempted him with all these temptations and jesus people say well he overcame satan with the word of god yeah but he was also fasting for 40 days he was fasting for 40 days and see fasting fasting brings spiritual power jesus once spoke to the disciples and they were trying to exercise deliverance they had the faith but they were trying to cast a demon out of this young boy and they couldn't and they were failing and jesus said the reason you're fighting these only come out these demons only come out you only get victory over these demons you only exercise the authority over these demons through prayer and fasting so jesus overcame satan the great temptation in the desert because he fasted he fasted and fasting brings such spiritual power into your life and fasting also you know if you if you want to have uh if like maybe in this in this season you're actually um saying to god i need understanding i want understanding about what's going on in the whole world and what's going on with this covet situation one of the things you can do to gain understanding one of the most powerful things you can do to gain understanding is to fast you find in the book of daniel daniel was exactly the seeking understanding and he said um uh the message was true but the appointed time was long and he wanted to understand what god was doing he says he fasted no pleasant food for three weeks and after three weeks it says suddenly a hand touched me which made me trembles and he said oh damn daniel man greatly beloved understand the words i speak to you and he says i've come to make you understand what will happen to your people in the latter days so fasting bought understanding and it brings understanding about what is god's doing there are so many things that that fasting will esta sought i'm sorry um what's he known ezra was about to go on a on a perilous journey and he was going to go through the desert he was coming from babylon back into jerusalem when they were returned from the exile and they were predators and there were robbers and bandits along the way and it was it was a perilous journey and in the natural he didn't think he could make it without divine help and so it says they stood by this river and they fasted and they fasted and when they fasted god gave them supernatural protection and supernatural direction and they were able to get to their desired destination and that's why i believe at the start of every year you know you've got plans and you want to get somewhere with your life you want to get to your desired destination with your family and your finances and your business and your and your spiritual walk and everybody should start the year like ezra did with a fast so that god will will actually protect you you know often when you fast god protects you from enemies that you never see but if you don't fast you see those enemies those enemies have a field day so fasting is spiritual power it's supernatural don't even try to understand it one of the reasons i fast is that you know humility is so important to the christian life you know it's so important to say to god i i don't know what i'm doing i really i'm really not an expert i need your grace every day i need your grace but you know our flesh can sometimes be puffed up we think we're doing things but when you fast when you fast you humble yourself and you humble yourself under the mighty hand of god and you're actually saying to god i am i am and you actually weaken yourself and you we're not told to ask god for humility we're told to humble ourselves under his mighty hand and when we fast what happens our flesh becomes out weak our spirit man becomes strong but we are humbled and we are humbled and you know as an as a minister the one thing i need is is the anointing of the holy spirit upon my life i just realized without the anointing of the holy spirit we have nothing but when the see the anointing is the power of god and and it's interesting jesus went into the desert just as he went into this led by the holy spirit but after fasting it says he came out of the desert in the power of the holy spirit see anointing and the power of god and fasting are deeply related they're deeply related and the old testament the holy spirit's always represented with by oil and there's a picture that is so it is so profound in relation to to fasting and the oil and the anointing of the holy spirit and it's found where a woman who who lost her husband and her her children were about to be sold into slavery comes to elijah and says um you know this is the problem and i've got no money and they're about to take my my children because i can't pay my debts and elijah accessory says what do you got because you always got something and she she said she's got a little bit of oil in a jar and he says bring your little something bring it to god whenever you bring your little something to god miracles happen and so she bought the oil that she had a little just a little bit of oil in a jar and and elijah said he said well go and gather all the jars you can for your neighbors and pour the little bit of oil out into these empty jars and and the oil will it just won't run out supernaturally it'll flow and you'll be able to sell it and pay your debts but there's a there's a message in that when it comes to to to fasting in the oil the anointing the oil flowed and that's the anointing as long as empty vessels were placed before and i want to tell you the anointing of the holy spirit only flows it doesn't flow to people who think they're competent it doesn't flow to people who think there's something it flows when empty men and women of god come before god and say i need you i need your empowerment my flesh can do nothing apart from you i can do no good thing once you see and what brings you into that place of emptiness when you fast you're empty you are empty and so fasting brings it brings power it brings victory over the enemy it brings understanding it brings revelation from the holy spirit and and it brings anointing the anointing you know and i believe one of the reasons there is so you know people say why don't we see miracles why don't we see healing in the in the church in the west like we do in the developing world one of the reasons is and it's true we don't see the power of god is because the anointing is not as strong because people don't fast so few people that are not so few ministers i know are committed to fasting and i believe you know if you've been the minister you need a faster lifestyle you need to be committed to regular fast you know fast one day a week one day no food not just just water but you know if if if you really want to understand the power of fasting you go to the book of esther and esther is so s you know it's it's relates so much to this current day what's happening today and in the book of esther you see esther is facing a problem with her people uh about to be wiped out there's a character there two main characters three main characters in the book one is esther one is uh mordecai her uncle and they represent god's people they're jews they're god's people and and mordechai is uh mentored esther and she's become queen and she's queen but there's this guy who's close to the king called haman and he gets offended with mordecai so offended that he wants to destroy him and not only destroy mordecai he's going to destroy all mordecai's people and he comes up with a scheme and and you know this is it's demonic and he's satanically inspired he's got the same spirit of him that hitler did you know the enemy wants to destroy god's people so hitler had a anti-semitic spirit and so did haman hitler's in the first and haman decided to wipe out all the jews and he prepared this gal these gallows to hang haman was going to be the first one he killed and he was prepared this these gallows to hang hayman sorry to hang mordecai hayman built the gallows to hang mordecai and it was all about to happen and esther called the fast she called a three-day fast and when they fasted you know miracles happen when you fast when they fasted miracles happened through a lot of circumstances um the king just decided that in the end he would um uh he woke up to all haman's plans but in the outcome of the three-day fast at the start of the fast it looked like mordecai was going to be hung the enemy was going to destroy god's people but in the in the end of the account heyman is hung on the gallows he prepared for mordecai the end of the story which means that fasting brought supernatural divine reversal against the schemes of the enemy and the enemy has schemes against you i believe if our prime minister today would call our nation to fast we could see the whole situation reverse that we're going through it's just so powerful but you know the enemy you know heyman is an enemy and he's satanically inspired and you know the enemy has weapons and schemes that he sends against us and but but when we fast and we come to god empty and prayerful and say god you're you you're all i need and you're all i've got and we humble ourselves we turn to him we seek him and and seek his face and pray and fast i want to say god is still he's still completely reversing situations giving you a divine reversal and and instead of you being defeated the enemy gets defeated and you get the victory so you know jesus didn't he didn't say to us if you fast he assumed that we would and you know he said this is the last thing i want to say in luke chapter 4 i think it's verse 33 jesus says um the disciples say i think the pharisees came to say how come your disciples don't pray and fast and and he said can the friends of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them but the day will come when the bridegroom will be taken away from them then they will fast in those days and what it basically meant is they were with jesus bodily so they knew him bodily but but they said so there's no need to fast but they said when he goes away bodily then you'll fast because what happens fasting it doesn't bring the bodily jesus back but it brings his presence back into your life when you fast the presence of god comes upon your life and in his presence is fullness of joy and and it's it's one of the great things a christian needs to do so i just encourage you if you've never fasted if you've never fasted just ask god for the grace to fast i i always say you're hungry for the first 100th of the second hungry the third day but if you can get beyond a three-day fast you're not hungry anymore your spirit man starts to get strong your spirit man starts to get built up and you will see great victory in the spiritual realm over all the powers of wickedness that come against us because um we're not meant to be defeated we are meant to be overcomers we are meant to have testimonies the enemy attacked me but he's lost again i have overcome through jesus christ and um and but we've got to use the weapons
