Many issues and questions can be answered by reading through our wiki, especially the page on electrolytes. Concerns such as lightheadedness/dizziness, headaches, nausea/vomiting, weakness/lethargy/fatigue, low blood pressure, muscle soreness/cramping, diarrhea, constipation, irritability, confusion, low heart rate, numbness/tingling, and more while extended (24+ hours) fasting are often explained by electrolyte deficiency and resolved through PROPER electrolyte supplementation. Putting a tiny amount of salt in your water now and then is NOT proper supplementation.
Be sure to read the our WIKI and especially the wiki page on ELECTROLYTES

Literally just saw this and joined the sub because of it a few days ago
I just need a kbbq every 3 days or so and I'm good
Wow. I'm only part way through, but I've used fasting as a tool for weight control and mental clarity for many years, and I'm learning a lot from this video! Excellent!
Would recommend!
He's a terrific source of information. Highly recommend following him, listen to all of his posts
I discovered this about 2 weeks ago, and have literally watched it 3 or 4 times. I've been fasting for over a year and when you get people asking about it it's hard sometimes to explain autophagy in a way that doesn't sound too good to be true and like it's all made up.
He does an awesome job of combining results of studies with explanations of the benefits (and WHY/HOW those benefits happen). Dr. Fung's lecture at a Crossfit deal used to be my go-to video when people asked for more info re: fasting. This is my new video. (though Dr. Fung's books are still an incredible resource--they're just not as quick for those with short attention spans).
I know this guy personally. He talks like this all the time. Very informational and takes his time to explain.
But what if I want the special cream??
Its a very interesting lecture. One thing I am not sure about was when he was talking about electrolyte intake. He seems to suggest that you only need a minimal amount of salt intake during a fast. Other videos suggest alot more. Any first hand experience with taking on electrolytes during a fast?
