FASTEST RC Car in the WORLD

[Music] this is the project world's fastest RC car and to get that world record we need to get 225 mph now this car has four Motors 25 horsepower each 100 horsepower in total It's Already Done 193 mph but we had problems I crashed it and broke a front drive shaft and we lost drive to the rear end so something inside the differential housing has gone wrong but here I've got an upgrade to hopefully I can make it stronger so in this video we're going to fix it and then take it to Rossa the home of the world's fastest RC cars and see if we can get closer to that world record and also there's going to be a lot of other cars there all going for that same world record also got these other two cars here both of which are also possibly capable of that world record however for now let's focus on this one and these ones later on in this video so we're going to start off with taking off the wheels and the center brace to make it a lot easier to work on next up let's get the rear differential out oh look we can see a problem look at all those iron filings where the diff was and if we have a look in here the main Crown wheel actually looks perfect but then look a bit further down the pinion completely stripped m Theory there is that because it's diff housing is made of plastic all that 100 horsepower going through it it's making it all flex and making that pinion gear move away from the crown wheel so over here I've got some aluminum gear boxes so this should have zero Flex so hopefully that is not going to happen again [Music] look at that completely stripped off surprisingly the crown wheel looks perfect I'm not going to take any chances so we're going to fix it properly so in this box here I've got a complete donut car all in bits and here we've got a spare differential unit and the quickest way that I know how to get that out boom there we go here's the parts that we need and now what we got to do is get this onto here boom and now we just got to get it into the diff housing so now that we got it together we can set the gear mesh now if I move this side to side it's got some play there you probably can't see that on camera we really want minimum play there so that that Gear's got the best chance we can take it apart again in the packet come some more shims it's already got one on there so I'm going to go ahead and add another one still some play there maybe another one it's probably borderline possibly too tight but I think it's going to bed in [Music] beautiful next up [Music] grease and now we can get all this lock back together again or not no these bulk heads are different so it appears that these are for different car because look in the stock one the shock Tower fits over you look at the new aluminium one it doesn't line up oh Running Out of Time Rosses in the next few days so I'm going to have to put the plastic ones back on but shim it really tight and hope that it's not going to strip again man I was all excited about getting these on there oh well never mind boom right got it back on there meshed it quite tightly hopefully it's going to [Music] last almost ready to put this back into there but first we got to clean off all this for look at all that that's all the old gears don't want it going into the new gears breake clean up [Music] beautiful next up I've got a brand new perfect pass drive shaft to put in there these are carbon fiber super lightweight super strong they don't flap about in there however when you crash it's carbon fiber so you can break them hopefully we're not going to crash this time crashing gets expensive so that is pretty much ready to go now I need to get some more of these tires these are made by gum bananas and these are actually a lot bigger than what most people run these are actually truy tires and they're really hard to get hold of I've got some more coming hopefully they're going to come in time otherwise I don't know so it's getting close to the Roser event now it's been a few weeks since the last filmed because I thought the car was ready however it isn't now so a bit of a waffle coming up now but you know how I said we converted this car to run on these truy sized Foams so this is a buggy size wheel and this is what most speed runners use this wheel here is designed for a truy but it's got Foams on there so it is quite a bit bigger it might not look like much but there is a difference the offset's a lot wider it's taller I had to make a lot of adaptations to this car to get these wheels to fix G bananas actually sent me these just to test out as a prototype to see how we get on so loads of work on the car to make them fit I had to cut the body out to make it work had to cut the chassis out to make it work I fitted loads of parts from different cars to make the car narrower because these been truggy Wheels it offsets a lot wider they were sticking out like this I to do loads of work to get these wheels to sit inside the car but to mess about with the gearing for the different radius anyway I had more of these tires ordered and they did kind of say they're going to get them ready for the event now we're getting closer to the event they can't Supply the wheels and no other company makes them so the only option is is to go back to the buggy Wheels but anyway now if we go back to put a buggy wheel on WE I've narrowed it it's rubbing on the Chassy I haven't got my tools here to grind it so let's see what Rob Ary man's got so here we are on the is of Man TT start line I'm just filming a video about that at the moment here we are Studio RC man how's it going good well no not not not good actually thought the sausage was ready however we got let down severely big time yeah g bananas unfortunately we were promised wheels and never showed up brought it back and it's rubbing on there bye bye so there we go look at all that clearance we got now so the wheel won't rub next thing if you remember at Santa pod it was bouncing and we got solid Lings here but we got all the flex in the arm so I'm thinking we get a shock and just bolt that in there hope hopefully take that hop out of it so there we go that's all on there so now look little bit of flex there should hopefully take that oscillation out of it oh what's this A light I made you light check it out and look what it does and a camera it holds the camera look boom you guys said you wanted to see onboard footage now hopefully we can look boom boom got these m2c little wheel hex things on there because these hexes always strip out when you got loads of horsepower oh Kev Kevy Kev I've got some special wheels for you are they top secret they are top secret but I'm just going to give them a glimpse so they're just standard bsrs yeah 200 but carbon fiber Rings ooh they look a little bit messy the because that's the first time I did it but the big problem we have is these expand into a big cone so I can show you so okay yeah now and also when this expands but now watch well I've done the video before and it literally expands to there that's right but now I've tested these to 33,000 RP m. and that's when they explode now 33,000 RPM is 280 mph the goal for me is 250 oh they they're going to hold up you got in the bag I can't get too excited just yet hopefully hopefully yeah I'll tell you what he's in the bag going that I knew he's so going next up little bit of wheel balancing we got a bit of this pate stuff that we put it in so that it balances up there's one we did earlier what you doing Kevy so here we got a little helicopter this is a stunt helicopter and you can flip it upside down and if you know what you're doing you can land it on the ceiling I used to be able to do it a few years ago but I've not tried for a while now you see if we can is all Motors I've ever seen for an RC car there's two of them we got these two great big hobby wing max 4S in the last event we did actually crash these will come flying out so we got to reattach those also I did crack this carbon fiber drive shaft here so we got to replace that I haven't got any but I do have the stock drive shaft that came out of whether it's gone sausage these were the original shafts that came out of this maybe not ideal but I reckon if I cut the end off and move this thing down it might work and then we can stick these back in boom ready for action waffle waffle [Music] waffle so there you can see the crack so all we got to do is make this drive shaft the same length as that one just measure that differencing length about there and then we scratch that difference onto here that's how much we got cut off hopefully this will come off of here oh Jesus oh my God that is tight Jesus get a little bit of heat on there hopefully that'll break it off yes there we go little bit of heat and loc Tite comes right off don't how this comes off of there man that is on there Jesus maybe try and cut the end off first hopefully that'll beat out now so now we just got to shove that back into there oh don't think it's going to work I haven't got any tool of making that shape into there oh yeah we're going to fix it so Rob recers he's got a m with a mill machine he can Mill a little slot in there hopefully it's going to work but anyway also we've got a possible solution to speedr running tires Foams always blow off this company here RC speed has given me these prototype tires here that are made out Rubber and some sort of stuff in there but the only thing is got join across there I'm thinking on the joint it might go I don't it's going to explode when these blow they make a mess oh it's going to it could go through the CE in the ceiling through the lights it's going to take your cars out look at the three Ravines there be gone how many RPMs you re it will take about 10,000 which is about probably about 80 mph here is our Dino rig we got the RPM here so I've we spin that I should be recording it right so now hopefully we this is a bit of engineering here Kev and it didn't get a chance to one last Tire got a bit of paint on there and now is it picking up yeah right I'm going to wind up slower to give this a chance to read the actual reading I think we got on it so quickly it just blew off before we got a chance to register I'm actually going out out of the room right we can wind up slowly yeah you you stay over there [Music] k no oh the rubber came off the wheel's still intact what that can't just be the bit glue is it did it just come off yeah it looks like the glue it's still actually here right look on here 30,000 it got two so this trucked it in Old speed calculator we got the RPM there that the wheel went and that's a tire damage of millimeters that Reon 338 mph that can do but when we did it with the Foams that said they did 400 something mph but in the real world it's only half that so if that's only half that they'll probably blow around about 160 mph so until we Chuck it on the car we don't know but if you Chuck it on the car and it blows up like that it's going over a car problem well can't M now got n left man look at this mess has gone absolutely everywhere so I don't know guys what do you reckon you reckon it will hold up I mean in principle they did go to 330 odd mile an hour however the Foams when we tried the Foams I went up to like over 400 mph but then in the real world you're lucky if it does half and if that bubble blows you seen the mess it makes that's going to completely destroy my car so I don't know I think we'll stick with foes for now so here look we had a gone banana go to like 54 mph in the real world maybe 200 if you're lucky here we got my original world record attempt car unfortunately I've always had problems with the speed controller these mgms can do 15 s pose each but I don't know if it's me I don't know if they're faulty but every time I've run them there's massive issues and I've just spent hours and not really running the car does have issues with it so I'm going to replace it with these hobby wing max 4S now this car set up a little bit differently we got two Motors direct drive so we go straight into the diff and the same on the rear one straight in man this thing's a beast I'm hoping we can get it in there they are a little bit longer hopefully we can squeeze it [Music] in please fit please fit oh look at that just fits in there between the wheels and tires the motor and the batteries and then another one on this side I think it's just going to work we're just in RC man Department look at that soldering station oh know yeah that's kev's idea but it's cool want know is not really normal but on this you can change the gear ratio on this very difficult we can change the diff ratios we get maybe one or two options now I just said that hobo gears might fit and they're taller geared which should give us a bit more speed also probably ditch these lios and get some Onyx lios so we've still got some options and we still could possibly get to 200 hour but not in this video we'll try and get to 175 that'll be it for this car then we're going to get that one out then we're going to go for the bad boy a sausage you got BBY uh 1s 1s so 1s lipo two wheel smaller tires we can gear up man look at these tires someone has to come out with some tires that are going to last cuz this just getting city that was like 180 mph trying to do 250 uh you're just on the edge of crashing all the time so some company out there please make some Speed Run tires that are going to last Scorch Dave up again on full power 1 19425 194 how much more power you got you in Robbie's Workshop one ESC was driving the wrong way and then I was i s it later and I forgot so what happened was this motor was going forward that one going forward that one going forward this one running in Reverse so we just did 180 mph on 70% power with one motor going the wrong way fighting against the other one but anyway what it did it burnt out this ESC look it melted that off but I think it's Tak another ESC out with it I think we've cooled two esc's got one spare one maybe I can bu so another ESC there Robbie L me one over there also got a brand new motor to put into it is pretty deflating not enough sleep for the past few days I'm absolutely drained out in the Heat and stupid mistake and now I got a wrench on it and I might killed the other Es as well who knows but want to get some good speed so suppose a better man up St wiing fully grown man crying about his toy car get this stuff in there I'm going to do it the quicker way boom got them all in there two brand new esc's and next up Andy is going to plug in his laptop make sure that they all go the right way around then we're going to put it up to 100 % power and Go full speed we can still gear it up we geared quite low but I'm hoping we're going to get 200 mph as it is and we can gear up later and try and get more it's definitely got enough power it's just dependent on if these tires can hold up know he's not happy I know not happy with you the wind just took it away so David from Scorch Parts got a world record 224 mph on the GPS that is a joint world record and it also got the Trap world record of 217 mph so for those of you that don't know know a GPS is a little box that goes onto your car and it reads the signal from the satellites the speed comes up on there now that reads the maximum speed and it's a lot easier to get higher speed of a GPS than it is through the traps because the traps are in a set position and whatever speed it is that you go through the traps that is the speed that you get you know you might speed up when you go past you might have been faster before and slow down so it's a lot more difficult to get high speed going through traps so basically how the Trap works the car comes down the road like this and you got two sensors and then by how long it takes from the car to get to this sensor to this sensor it works out what speed it is that comes up on the little computer screen and then there's two traps so in case one is goes wrong or something then the other one backs it up probably got it wrong but that's how I understand it anyway anyway let's have a look at the cars and I'll tell you what I've got planned next for them so this one here is my original project world's fastest RC car at the time when this car was built the world record was 202 m hour I had to get to 203 mph so I still want to get to that speed with this car the biggest problem with this car is because it's direct drive we cannot change the gearing but I spoke about it before you can change the gearing inside the differentials that might be enough if not we can change the KV of the motors these are 1700 KV KV basically means RPM per volt so the higher the RPM the faster it's going to go and maybe that'll be the way that we go because look I've had a look at it and that motor has actually seized up so on this car we got the scorched RC diff lockers thrill aluminium bulkheads perfect pass Servo perfect pass launch control TP Motors and hobby Wing speed controllers we're still running the aluminium chassis underneath this under tray that I've made actually all of these cars are running the scorched RC diff lockers also they're all using these m2c wheel locks but anyway this car got me my 170 m an hour Rossa C anyway I built another car and when I built this one the world speed record went up to 2 4 mph so this one is the project 205 mph RC car got to 1 194 mph so we've only got a find 10 mph and I think it's definitely got it in it it did do a back flip actually both of these did a back flip so I'm going to have to have a look at that I mean Robbie RC man Robbie uh he said you got to have the front a lot lower than the back and I have but maybe not enough if you look at Rob's cars he's got the back really high and the front a lot lower and his cars never back flip so I'll probably try that jack up the back a little bit also it's got rear suspension both of these have actually got rear suspension so the problem is it pushes down the back becomes lower that's it game over so I might do the same as what I did to this one we'll have a look at that in a minute well just going to put in some solid links and get rid of these shocks rebuild wise not too bad I think they both could do with new body shells now the carbon fiber is a bit split but I think we can just super glue that and sand it it should be fine going put the eses back in and I probably should make a prop amount for it with this tape here every time you crash ES come out and you run the risk of destroying them the same with the batteries batteries fly out batteries are dead so I need to get some better straps and on this one here I got to put the rear wing back on shock Tower's got a slight Bend in it but all in all for highs speeded crash not bad now onto the sausage and the sausage got me my 200 mph cap and I wear it like a proud man so the biggest problem with this car and also off you come and also all of my Speed cars is the wheels and tires they just do not hold up look at this the foam it just comes off it cannot take the speed I've seen so many people say Kev use rubber tires I've tried they're even worse the trouble is with centrifugal force when it spins so fast it's so much low trying to pull the rubber on the foam off of the wheel that if you use something heavy like rubber it's going to be pulling so much harder and it'll go even slower so I'm waiting for a company to come out with some wheels and tires that are going to be good for the speeds that we're trying to achieve if there's a company out there that can make something show them to me I happily show them on my channel and test them if I think they look good I put them on the car and if you got a good product it's some good promotion for you so any companies out there come on let's get it done get some wheels made for these cars but anyway this car here has got a customade scorched RC carbon fiber chassis we got Scorch front Knuckles Scorch steering Scorch drill motor mounts Scorch diff lockers m2c wheel nuts perfect pass ser perfect past carbon fiber drive shaft these are super strong however if you crash and the chassis flexes it can crack and then they're done and some of you probably thinking why don't I use metal shafts well if you crash with metal shafts you bend them so break them bend them doesn't really matter you got to buy new ones anyway I'm running these perfect pass rear Wings on all of them it keeps these cars perfectly in a straight line this one's also got the perfect pass body mount system obviously the problem of all these cars is the tires the other problem with this cars is the differential holding up that is now the second time that I've blown a pinion gear inside the diff now as you saw earlier the aluminium diff cases that I've got do not fit however David from Scorch Parts makes some Shock towers that means that I can fit those aluminium bulkheads into that car also hobo do an optional gear set where the teeth a little bit bigger and should give it more power so aluminum bulkhead and bigger teeth on the on the gears should make it stronger hope hopefully it's going to hold together so that's going to go on there for the next video and we and tire wise I'm just hoping that someone's going to come out with something now if we look at these plastic Wheels they do cone out and that probably doesn't help matter so these are the wheels that Rob made that I forgot to take they've got a carbon fiber ring inside them this makes it a lot stiffer however a few people at Rossa actually tried them and sort of round about 17180 it came unglued and the carbon fiber ring slid out however they used different glue Rob's used some special glue on these and we still don't know so these could still be an option and even if not maybe we can find a glue that's going to hold these in I mean it can only help can't it if it stays in got pretty high hopes for these so we'll see what happens to these in the future anyway massive shout out to Stuart and James for putting on the event and everybody else they got involved with putting that event on and everybody that turned up to make Rossa what it is what an event what an atmosphere everybody is just cheering each other on everybody going off personal
