well hello everybody in today's video I'm going to be going over map seeds and how to alter them to get the exact kind of map you're looking for there are a couple people who contributed to this the Wiki page for Father's Frontier and someone named pikester25 on Reddit so if you're looking at the chart the seed value is basically an 11 digit hex value now the first number is just a static number I'm using one in this example and then numbers two through six are also just random static numbers that will have very moderate impact on the design now it's important to note if you make these all zero it will completely generate a random map so you do not want to put all zeros for these values now the one that's important is the seventh digit in the seed code because that determines the biome if you look at the chart in front of you no one knows what 0 is one is planes two is lowland Lakes three is Alpine Valley four is the Arid Highlands five is the Wasteland and that is kind of confirmed now and I just the majority of the map has a five percent for utility rate and six is idyllic Valley and 7 is not valid I think it randomly assigns the biome now the eighth value in your seed code determines whether or not your mountains are flat or high so if you put a zero in you'll have flat mountain generating so you have a flat mat but if you want mountains because you want that height Advantage for defensive structures you want to make sure that that eighth value is an F no one knows what the ninth code does yet the tenth code is for water if you put a zero you'll have no lakes or water if you put an F you'll have tons of lakes and water and the eleventh code is still a known very small variables but the three key ones are the seventh which determines the biome the eighth which determines if you have high or low Mountains and the tenth which determines if you have little to no Lakes what people do when they're seed hunting is they'll change the codes in 9 and 11 to a random number and that way you can get a variant of the map you're looking at so if you have a map that looks almost perfect and you just you want to change it play around with the 9th and 11th digit it and just keep changing that until you find the map that you would like so this is a way that you can generate the exact kind of map you're looking for let's go over map sizes so there's huge advantages to running this game on small and medium maps and that you get way higher frame rates and a lot better and just a lot better performance now with that said if you look at the small map it's about 200 by 200 squares the medium is 333 squares by 333 squares and the largest 460 by 460 squares I play on medium though I do know a lot of people play on small the small is just not really big enough for me now there are also some key differences on difficulty that are broken down on the wiki so if you play on Pioneer which is the easiest difficulty you have a ton of deer you'll rarely see bores you'll rarely see wolves and bears are even more rare for Raider difficulty on Pioneer the Raiders occasionally invade attack and they steal stuff Trailblazer is for the more neutral players who are just looking for an average difficulty you get an average amount of deer you get some bore you get wolves average but bears are still rare the dip difficulty is the same as the Pioneer but the player is extorted by local armies and Lords so basically the Lords will come and will demand payment from you and if you don't pay them they'll attack you now vanquisher is the hard difficulty that's what I play that's what I find enjoyable deer are very rare there's lots of boars there's lots of wolves and bear populations are average and if you build a theories the Bears will come in and steal the honey and attack your villagers so keep that in mind if you're building a ton of Apiaries to put a freaking Tower near them and then of course the vanquisher difficulty as the elite Raiders respond highly frequently highly aggressive and you get extorted a lot I've been playing on the hard mode I get rated every other year on Vanquish your difficulty they upped it big not only do they increase the frequency I can attest that it is so much more difficult so let's put this the test so say that I want an arid High lens map with very low mountains and lots of lakes I'm gonna use this code here one one one one one one one four zero one f one and we're just going to generate a media map so we can see it I'm going to leave the difficulty as just neutral for now I'll show you what that map looks like so follow this word correctly the map should be very flat with lakes and be in the Arid Highlands so as you see we have ourselves an arid Hyland biome with a lit with Lakes as many lakes as possible it's quite a bit of lakes for the air you usually don't see any and the mountains are very low usually they're a lot higher this is a very small Mountain so this is how you control the parameters of your map design if you want lakes or don't want lakes you want high mountains or low mountains if anyone has any observations from their own personal experience please feel free to comment below in the video and share the things that you've discovered I just wanted to quickly show people these resources and Link the material that's already available so that people can find like the perfect map for what they're looking for
