once again to beyond the surface right here on nature speaks hope for tomorrow online evangelistic series we have been having a wonderful time as we celebrate who god has been to us and we are happy that you can join us once again this afternoon uh last week we began the discussion on the biblical narrative of stewardship and we had a wonderful time sharing in that discussion with you and we realized you were involved in the discussion and so in the discussion the panelists eloquently affirmed the ownership of god this week we'll be picking up right where we left off last week regarding man's response to god's ownership and so at this time i want to introduce our panelists to you i have seated to my right which is your left elder who's warren from the sandy bay seventh day adventist church and we are always happy to have ella warren on set with us as he he delivers god's word week after week and seated to my left is elder kingsy clark from the uh bottom roads of the adventist church right here in montego bay and elder clark we know is one who loves to share god's word and does so in a very effective manner and we will be having joining us pastor james sullin in a few minutes and so uh he will be with us right here on set all right uh at this time we're going to be having uh prayer by el warren as we get into the discussion uh for this afternoon okay let us pray heavenly father once again we have committed ourselves to sharing your word we ask now that you will consecrate us be in the hearts of the hearers of your word so that they'll be able to apply them unto wisdom is all we ask in jesus name amen amen hello and we're going to start with you this this afternoon as we look again at this concept of stewardship how should we as stewards view our response to the ownership of god we establish god's ownership fully last week now how should we as towards view our response to the ownership of god yes thank you very much and and it's good to be back as we left off last week we indicated that our response should be one of commitment one of commitment uh you know stewardship is part of the dna of the adventist church and uh as christians we recognize that stewardship is about who we are it is about our relationship to god but one of the challenge that we face as christians is consistency you know uh how are we tend not to be consistent in our stewardship and um consistency is going to be important if we are going to be found faithful first corinthians 4 verse 2 tells us that moreover it is required in stewards that a man be what be found faithful so we need to be faithful we need to be consistent what our stewardship response should be total and full commitment mark 12 30 tells us love the lord your god with what all your heart with all your soul and with all your mind mind and with all your strength so stewardship our response is about all of us in response to all of god god gave all to us and we must respond by giving all to him ellen white says you know she says in giving up his son he poured out to us all heaven in one gift and so because god has given everything to us our response should be to give all of us to him so when we look at stewardship there is a narrow view and there is a broad view the narrow view says tithe and offering but the broad view says lordship of christ recognizing the lordship of god the the narrow view says us as church members but the broad view says god has god and god being the owner we recognize him for who he is and and and we respond because he has given his all to us the narrow view says personal behavior but the broad view says the values of the kingdom it's not about our opinions it is about the values of the kingdom the the narrow view says pocket and wallet but the the the broad view says heart commitment to him the the narrow view say a program but the broad view says a lifestyle so stewardship is not a program it was a program we only have it on sabbath if it was a program it begins and it ends but it is not a program it is a life commitment so as long as we exist we must commit totally to god who is our owner thank you so much thank you so much welcome uh pastor sunning we are coming across to you uh as you join us on set and so ella warren established that stewardship is not just a program stewardship is a lifestyle and so if stewardship is not just a program for members about tithe and offering tell us what does it really involve well uh stewardship involves every aspect of our lives uh it cannot be just on money but it encompasses every area of our life it has to deal with our time how we spend our time we we have time and it's it's constantly moving we need to be responsible and peter gives the indication in first peter 1 verse 17 that how we spend our sojourn here must be in a way that we are responsible we must conduct ourselves in reverence to god and because god is the ultimate judge of what we do uh stewardship is also about talents uh what we do with our abilities uh do we use it in a in a productive way do we use it to enhance uh the cause of christ ourselves and others are we just focus only on ourselves and paul tells us that we must be zealous of good works in first corinthians chapter 14 and verse 12. so we must use our works and he says that we must seek to excel to edify the church in other words whatever our talents are we should use it in the cause of christ and for the help of humanity as well as ourselves stewardship has to do with our body temple we are not our own paul says in first corinthians 6 19 know you not that you are the temple of the holy ghost and that you belong to god it is also about our treasure what we have our material possession and haggai 2 verse 8 tells us the silver's mind said the lord and the gold so what we have belong to god we must use it wisely recognizing that what we have we are not the originator it comes from god we have to think also about our influence how is our influence uh do we recognize that who we are will impact our family our friends our neighbors and and others who we associate with what kind of influence do we shed is it positive or negative we have to remember that it is important that we use our influence right we know some persons use their influence to do evil to excite others to to to some you know evil passions or to excite to some war we have to be careful of our our influence what about our concerns uh we are to be stewardship of our concerns are we concerned about only the bad things or do we spend time to give thanks to god the the psalmist tells us in psalm 50 14 and 15 that we should offer unto god thanksgiving and pay thy vows unto the most high call upon me in the day of trouble he says and i will deliver thee we are so concerned about sometimes very negative things that destroy our health our mental state we get very depressed we need to be careful of how overly concerned we are about things that are not healthy for our mind we have to also think about stewardship of our environment do we take care of the environment we know from genesis 2 verse 15 that god placed adam and eve in the garden to address it and to keep it means to take care of it yep and we have a responsibility to take care of our environment we can't be throwing garbage everywhere we can't be just doing anything anywhere anytime anyhow because the negative impact is going to be a ripple effect to our own family or our generation to come and the the world at large so stewardship is really about a total life commitment to the one who created us sustains us the one who died for us so that he can continue to take care of us so in other words we are managers we are only managers we are not owners so we must be careful then that the relationship we have between ourselves and our creator on our filament is that which is right because we have a responsibility in other words we all are accountable to god for everything about our lives because he is our owner amen thank you so much thank you so much very well said ella clark we are coming to you now uh can you please expand for us pastor sonnen mentioned a number of things a number of areas and facets of our lives that that stewardship responsibility impacts can you expand for us on the concept of god's expectation of the stewardship of our time okay thank you pastor i think that's a good place to begin with and that is time because stewardship perhaps begins with time once we come into this world the bible tells us that god is the originator of time god himself is outside of time he created it and when the bible says in genesis 1 verse 1 in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth that was the beginning of our time so god has given us time he still owns it but as pastor sunlin said earlier we are given the privilege to manage it and what we have to manage is a time that god has given to us solomon himself uh outlined in ecclesiastes chapter three um that there is a time for everything on the the sun it says that there's a time for everything there is a season and a time it is important that we understand it in fact he said there's a time to be born and a time to die and dear solomon sets the boundaries of our time to be born our time begins and when we die our time ends uh later on in that very same chapter in verse 11 he says that god has made all things beautiful in his time and there's a beautiful song that uses that verse right that god makes all things beautiful in his time so god uses time and we ought to use it wisely as well now how should we use it i want to say that we must use the time how the owner wants us to use it it is important that we do so now in this sinful earth one of the best use of our time is that we give our heart to jesus uh the bible says that no is the acceptable time no is the day of salvation another text says today if you hear my voice hardened not your heart again god is emphasizing the proper use of our time if we have not given our hearts to jesus christ during this acceptable time then we will be wasting the time that god has given us so god says we ought to use it wisely uh in fact he also put within the commandment an aspect of time in the fourth commandment when he says six days shalt thou labor and do all thy work but the seventh day is the sabbath of the lord so we should use our time one six days will be for mankind love to man and then the sabbath he says we ought to dedicate that day to him so in the time that we are using we must remember that time must be dedicated to god the apostle paul says uh in in ephesians uh chapter 5 verse 16 he says that we should redeem the time because the days are evil ellen white says and i'm going to quote it's it's one of my favorite chapters from i was a young man i'm not that young anymore uh and that's the chapter on talents if there's a it's the best exposition i have seen as it relates to stewardship and and our talents and when you have some time read the full chapter but i'm going to read one section about redeeming the time she says in chapter 25 we are admonished to redeem the time but time squandered can never be recovered we cannot call back even one moment the only way in which we can redeem our time is by making the most of that which remains so we can redeem the time by making the best of what remains you go to school you fail an exam you can't spend time on the failure you're gonna have to make use of the rest of the time to study i remember one time i was doing a test in school and i thought i failed paper one and i decided i'm going to spend more time to make sure that i do well on paper too i could not spend time just mourning about the paper one and so we redeemed the time by doing just that i want to close again by by by quoting what what uh we have in that very same chapter as it relates to time our time belongs to god every moment is his and we are under the most solemn obligation to improve it to his glory hear this now of no talent of no talent he has given will he require a more strict account than of time the value of time is beyond computation and so this talent very important talent that god has given us we must make use of it i could have spent time talking about procrastination we have procrastinated we have put out for tomorrow that's which we could have done today we have put our salvation for a more convenient time when we should have done it today the best use of time is to do whatever that needs to be done no and in doing it we must remember that we should uh use our time wisely as god wants us to use it today if you hear his voice heart and not your heart thank you elder the the viewers are asking uh where did you uh quote from okay for anyone can you just tell them where the quote is from okay that's christ objects lesson i i probably skipped the book all right so that's christ object lesson chapter 25 and i quoted from uh uh paragraph 342 and also three yeah 342 actually uh page 342. thank you chris subject lessons thank you so so we are we are going to continue this discussion uh on on on the narrative of stewardship we're going for a musical break and as we come back uh ella warren will be expanding for us on this stewardship of our talents uh he will be helping us to understand what god expects of us as it relates to the stewardship of our talents we now go for a mystical break and we'll be right back with you [Music] [Music] so [Music] [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] so [Music] amen lead me to calvary thank you so much uh brother massam for the beautiful rendition uh hello and we come across to you right away uh to expand for us on the stewardship of our talents it's not gonna be my my my response but i'm gonna let the bible speak on this matter of uh you know stewardship of talent james 1 verse 17 says every good gift and every perfect gift comes from there from above and comet down from the father of lights with womb there is no variableness neither shadow of turning so all our talents comes from where it comes from god first corinthians 12 4 to 7 know their diversities of gifts and but the same watch spirit there are differences of administrations but the same lord they are diversities of operations but it is the same god which worketh all in all so it is god through the manifestation of the spirit that gives every man talents so that the that the work may profit from the talent that god has given him first thessalonians 4 11 and 12 tells us that we when we when god gives us gifts and god gives us talents uh paul says and that he studied to be quiet and to do your own business and to work with your own hands as we commanded you that you may walk honestly toward them that are without that ye may have lack of nothing and we know that the story of the parable when god gives us talent he expects us to use them and to improve on them first corinthians 10 verse 31 tells us whether therefore ye what eat or drink or whatsoever ye do what we must do do it all to the glory of god sister white in encounters to parents teachers and students page 513 says god expect returns according to the gifts she says the unblessed gift is not to be despised everyone has his peculiar sphere and vocation he who makes the most of his god-given opportunities will return to the giver in their improvement and interest proportionate to the entrusted capital again improving on the talents that god has given us and in council's uh stewardship she says in page 124 if those whose talents are rusting from inaction would seek the aid of the spirit of god and go to work we should see much more accomplished so god has given us talents and he encourages us that we must use it he says in romans 12 11 that we must miss full in business but we must be fervent in spirit serving who serving the lord and he says when we get talent we must not worship the talent or the gifts we must remember the giver because he says in job 1 verse 21 the lord give it and the lord taketh blessed be the name of the lord and so paul also encourages us that we must use our abilities and our talents for the perfecting of the saints ephesians 4 verse 12 for the work of the ministry and for the edifying of the body of christ so whatever we do with our talents it should be to glorify god thank you so much ella warren pastor sunning can you share for us then how the care of our bodies uh or body temple is important to our stewardship responsibility well you know interestingly if the body is not taken care of nothing else will make sense because if our mind is sick our body is sick then we are in real big trouble now uh john made a statement in 3rd john 1 verse 2 says beloved i pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health just as your soul prospers it is god's desire that we have a healthy mind healthy body healthy emotion god wants us to to live not just temporarily he wants us to live forever but sin has caused a problem to the human race and jesus in john 10 verse 10 said that the reason why he came was to give life and to give it more abundantly so god wants us to live and to live prosperously now we have to recognize that god as creator owns us therefore anything we have including our body belongs to god and so paul tells us in romans 12 1 i beseech you therefore brethren by the mercies of god that he present your bodies a living sacrifice holy acceptable unto god which is your reasonable service so our bodies must not be used uh for any kind of thing it must be preserved protected cared for nurtured and lived in the healthiest way that we can and paul reminds us in first corinthians chapter 6 verses 19 and 20 he says do you not know that your body is the temple of the holy spirit who is in you whom you have from god and you're not your own for you are bought with a price therefore glorify god in your body and in your spirits which are god's so we need to take care of our body and in the health ministry of our church we have an acronym the new start which reminds us of how we should you know take care of our ourselves you know new start nutrition exercise water sunshine being temperate uh have fresh air rest trust and divine power we should take care of ourselves because we have a responsibility to take care of this one body that god has given us and very often we get very intemperate in how we uh work or rest or how we eat how we drink we overdo it we don't take care as much as we should and paul tells us of the experience that he had as he ministered at the time when he was alive in first corinthians 9 27 he says i keep my body under discipline i bring it into subjection lest by any means when i have preached to others i myself should be a cast away so as good as we are as christians and as obedient as we are to his commandments if we don't take care of our body we are not totally fulfilling god's will and honoring god who is our owner thank you so much now ella clark if there is one thing that pops in the human mind when we hear the word stewardship it's money and we we we think about our financial responsibility can you help us understand our financial stewardship responsibility uh which has to be distorted before treasurer okay per se you're so right for some individuals stewardship is all about money and that's why i'm happy for what we are doing here to emphasize that money is just a small aspect of stewardship and if we understand the true principles of stewardship then our stewardship of money will not be a problem but yes the bible again tells us that god owns everything including money uh the bible tells us in in haggai god says hagai 2 verse 8 that the silver and the gold is mine so god owns those in psalm 50 he says a cattle on a thousand hills our mind if i were hungry i wouldn't tell you so again god is saying that i own everything all the wealth of this world including money treasure um is is his so the first thing again we just want to establish it the money that i have that you have that everybody else have has is not yours it is god's god has given you that portion based on your ability to be used according to his will and that's what stewardship is all about it is managing according to the desires of the of the owner and so if we are not managing our money according to how god wants us to then we are not good stewards doesn't matter how successful we are otherwise so how does god really want us to manage uh the money that he has that he has given us in deuteronomy chapter 8 verse 18 he reminded the israelites that when they get into the land that they should not forget him when they become prosperous but that they should remember that it is he who has given them the power to get wealth so we must remember that it is god who was given us the power the intelligence the ability that we have to get what he has given to us and we should therefore use it according to his will there's a story found in luke chapter 12 that you know individuals call the rich fool uh where the bible speaks of this man whose barns had become full as it were he had done very well and to the world he was he was a very good investor very good manager very good businessman but in the end he did not use the money how he should have there are two ways god wants us to use the money that we have one is to show love to our neighbors and two to show love to god it's always like that love to our neighbors mean that when god blesses us with possession we should also look to use it to bless others are we helping others uh do we have food but there are others who are hungry do we have money and somebody else needs it um so blessing others and two blessing god he says in malachi 3 uh onwards that if we don't return our tithe and offering he asks a question will a man rob god and god answers and said yes all right yes so god is saying that when we don't return his portion that we are actually robbing him so i go back to luke chapter 12 because in verse 15 which is a verse i really wanted to to look at verse 21 sorry he says speaking of that man that very night when he was relaxing saying that he has it earned everything gain everything he was going to say to his soul you know be merit take his at that very night he perished and this is the meaning of the parable jesus says because jesus calls him a food thou fool all right and this night thy soul is required of the verse 21 so is he that layeth up treasure for himself and is not rich towards god so the treasure that we have by itself is nothing except we are using it or god wants us to use it and for god's side of it is going to be returning our faithful tithe giving god an offering he has asked for it he said it is mine leave it across chapter 27 he has told us that i did quote malachi uh chapter three as well and of course you remember the story very well i said to individual god does take note of our offerings all right he did that when he was in the temple and everybody was taken in there was that widow who puts in her two little might and jesus drew attention to what she had done right so jesus sees what we are returning to him he takes note of course he was telling us that uh that the woman has given all because the others gave up the abundance why she actually gave her all hers was sacrificial giving what's the point i'm making i'm emphasizing that part of money stewardship that that many of us are not um being obedient to we are not looking at and that is the stewardship of our money in returning the portion to the cause of god that god has required us to do but the rest of it is not for ourselves to spend eat drink and be merry we must use it to also help our neighbors as we ought to love them as ourselves all right thank you so much pasta sunden in in in a minute or two can you help us uh with this this text in malachi which has often been used to teach lessons on financial stewardship what are some of the lessons we can learn from from malachi chapter three well we are learning some things from this text that god requires us to be faithful not robbing him and if we do then there is a curse that follows and therefore there are some important lessons that we can learn from the text one tithing is for honest people people who are not honest would not want to return tithe so it is for honest people god says bringing all the tithe in to the storehouse and he expects us to do that tithing should not be used for our personal use or for the use of other people's business either so we must be careful that we use it the right way and ellen white says that which is set apart according to the scriptures uh as tithe belongs to god and should be used for what god says is to be brought in the treasury and it is to be used to advance his work uh returning type should be systematic systematic and regular in other words we shouldn't do it when we feel like but we should do it because god has given us the instruction it's therefore under no circumstances are we to uh excuse ourselves from the duty and responsibilities of returning god's tithe there is no excuse he says it and he means it and so malachi shows that not even a lack of confidence in the church leadership so if the church leadership is not being considered to be responsible and honest in their dealings that does not absolve us of the responsibility of returning our tithe so whether the priest is faithful whether the president or the treasurer or the pastor is unfaithful god still requires that and we must be careful of what we do because god keeps a record of all our deeds and malachi is also reminding us that there is a blessing in store for all those who return god's tithe he asked us to prove him if he will not open the windows of heaven pour out a blessing upon us so there's a blessing in store for all who are faithful thank you so much we are practically out of time uh but in 30 seconds i'm going to ask each of you uh elon starting with you total tell us of the stewardship of influence uh elder uh well pastor sonnen will will tell us of the uh the same about concerns and ella clark will close us off with uh environment in just 30 seconds each let's see if you can let us wrap up this study and stewardship paul says it well in galatians 2 verse 20. when he speaks about reminding us that we do not belong to ourselves we must remember that we belong to christ i am crucified with christ nevertheless i live yet not i but christ which live it in me and and and the life that i know live i live not just to myself but to god and to know that others are looking on and my life is an influence on others we know that very often we are overly concerned and you know worrying about what we're going to eat where are so forth but jesus has reminded us that we must seek first the kingdom of god and he will uh provide the rest of the things paul also tells us that our god shall supply all our needs and so let's not be overly concerned but let us trust god to provide and to take care of what we need two texts help us to understand our or responsibility to our environment one when god made man the bible said he gave him dominion over all things management over the whole earth the fish of the sea the falls of the air the environment the other texas he put adam in the garden to for him to he put adam in the garden for him to dress and to keep it these two texts tells us that we have a responsibility for the environment i was telling you hello they're giving us an additional two minutes so you can continue your response yeah right so so the two texts so the first one you know god gave adam dominion you know over the whole creation it is right there um and the whole creation includes everything the environment it includes the water the sea the animals the bible specify those and when he asks adam that he should take care of the garden to dress and to keep it it means therefore that he is supposed to take care of it we have a responsibility as human beings to take care of the environment we should do nothing that will destroy it and if we are doing something that is destroying it then we need to stop or to mitigate the damage that we are causing to the environment as stewards of god we must remember this that if we are destroying the environment we are destroying ourselves because we also depend on the environment in which we live thank you so much thank you so much ella clark and so i will ask each of our panelists for their final statement on the biblical narrative of stewardship as we close out the study on stewardship over these past two weeks you know many of us when when we think about torture we fret and worry that if we give god back to god we will lack but i always remember when god's cause become your cause then your needs becomes his responsibility so take care of what is god and god is responsible for you and if god is responsible and he's faithful you have nothing to worry about wonderful wonderful pastor sonnen i want to just say to our viewers that the best way to be a good steward is to have a relationship with god recognizing him as your manager your owner develop that love relationship with him and he will help you manage every aspect of your life thank you so much right stewardship uh is telling me that i should manage based on what the owner how the owner wants me to manage it doesn't matter how i feel what i think what i like it is how the manager says i should do it and when i know what he says then i ought to obey his biddings thank you so much and so stewardship is an acknowledgement of god's ownership and our responsibility to be stewards to be caretakers of that which is placed in our dominance thank you so much for joining us this afternoon do join us again next sabbath afternoon and once again we shall share god's word with you on beyond the surface right here on nature speaks hope for tomorrow online evangelistic series as we close out this afternoon pastor sonnen will pray for us and then we'll go right to our next musical item heavenly father you have been so good to us you have made us you have sustained us you've provided us provided for us and you continually express your love so help us o lord to be true stewards faithful to you always and may you continue to help us in our growth in our walk with you day by day so that one day we can behold you face to face in jesus name amen wonderful wonderful it is wonderful that pastor dyer and the team could have ably brought out the topic of stewardship in such a manner awesome indeed well coming up right now we have we're going right into our next segment which of course is our mentorship connection making a difference and denise i'm more than happy to declare to you that we have a very special guest here this afternoon he make noise with them but thank you so much for adding musical joy to our evenings worship and praise welcome again to the conversation this is a time and place where we take the time to focus on our mentorship program the issue of uh social intervention and social change as we seek to work with our youngsters from western jamaica it is my joy to welcome as my partner in crime to my left is kamara dixon and you can't miss the host in the place with movement in her feet and momentarily i will introduce to you my very special guest my i want to take the liberty of saying my good friend uh but i will tell you more about him so let me give you a background to our conversation this afternoon and the background to our mentorship program in late 2017 we were right inside this auditorium in our rhythmic pulsating camp meeting when one of our church officers from a certain pastoral district i took her down to my office because at that time two members of her family was at the morgue her husband and another member of the family by late afternoon it turned out to be four family members her son included all at the morgue at the same time from one family dead because of violence we launched then a program aimed at mentoring 7 000 at-risk youngsters from the streets of western jamaica we did not fool ourselves in believing that they were not at-risk youngsters even from adventist homes or other christian homes ours is the conviction that uh if we cannot reach our young people we will not be able to tame the crime via the crime monster and so uh just to anchor your mind back to where we're coming from we looked at the stats for and i deliberately look at jamaica in comparison to jamaican communities in england uh trinidad and um youngsters between the ages of 15 and 24. and the discovery was that high crime rate was noticeably among 10 to 24 poor parenting uh by teenage parents absentee fathers ill-prepared young fathers breakdown of values and attitudes high level of youth unemployment disconnected disengaged unattached and drifting and dropping out of school and church that's our background since then we have trained uh more than 700 of our youngsters into what is involved in mentorship our aim is to have a minimum of one thousand that each of them will have seven mixing both from church and outside of church we looked at the issue of the our territory moan salem right here where the conference office is becoming the first zoso we now have norwood in our territory and if they have enough zozo agents you probably would have had parts of westmoreland and hanover and i have come to understand that we cannot build enough police stations we cannot produce enough police officers to have one on every street corner there has to be another way i am delighted to welcome on set with me one of the finest and and i want to pause and say i say this without fear of successful contradiction anywhere one of the finest police officers to ever wear the uniform of the jamaica constabulary force [Applause] and i am delighted that he is the commanding officer of the parish that i'm living in the commanding officer of the parish of saint james and i want on behalf of west jamaica to say congratulations to well a few weeks ago he was superintendent vernon ellis now he is senior superintendent vernon ellis i want to shout it loud and proud from this platform where we have thousands and thousands of persons viewing us from jamaica from canada from the us from the caribbean and all over and if i would want to test my prophetic skills camara i would want to speak into being the position the rank of soon deputy commissioner of police i am prophesying it i belong to a group a small team and i don't know how much the nation values the work of the police oversight authority the police civilian oversight authority headed now as its ceo uh one of the finest ladies that the nation has produced lady otara nugent byfield or bifi nugent she is the head of the pcoa and i have the privilege and the honor of sitting with them most times that group has a vested interest in protecting and preserving the high standards to which the jcf must be held and i would want to say to the head of the pcoa she'll be delighted to know that there's somebody on this side who believes passionately in the integrity and the high standards that all police officers must maintain and i'm saying all of that to tell you that him daddy is a policeman him auntie was a policeman him uncle the police officer it runs in his dreams would you help me welcome senior superintendent vernon ellis commanding officer of the party shops and chains i must say thank you very much thank you pastor glenn samuels for having me madame host um all our listeners i must say you know thanks for having me from the jcf as i will try my best to share some of the activities that we've been having from the jcf side that will match your program thank you and uh in the same breath i began a conversation with superintendent ellison wednesday camaro that blew my mind i was so impacted by what he is doing and by what he is leading his force to be doing we talk about sometimes police officers as a rough course and no have no manners kind of stuff and no business with anything else but i was blown away to the extent that i had to ask mello fm to be here for the afternoon may i then welcome uh the mellow fm group they're on the outside and you should be listening welcome to all the listeners on mello fm welcome to more fm because i want more people to be mellow with the information to hear uh what our friend soup now i'm going to pick it up from part of what we're talking about i was baffled that you have this passion in believing that if we can get to our youngsters at a certain age would you help me talk this issue why is it you feel that you have to get to them what aid did you say again i'm going to leave you to talk to me about the conversation so uh let me start off by saying that what we're doing is not really unique to saint james it's a national thing you know it's the one of the strategic priorities of or high command that intervention play a key role in what we do in managing the situation on the ground specifically to kids they are one of the target groups for us we realize that there is high levels of vulnerability within communities within these age groups um you mentioned why you started out looking at this type of social intervention program funding of hours incentives started in 2018. so when i came to st james as a commanding officer i realized that there were some communities that were a little tougher than the other communities and we started out looking at these communities one such was the salt spring community in saint james we would have looked at the population we sent our analysts from the police department inside there to look at the kids the age groups the educational facilities where they were located and then we started meeting up with the parents it was kind of tough when we just went inside there there were a lot of people who they would run from the police cars when they saw the cars coming really and truly it was squarely a law enforcement relationship you know it wasn't that high-level partnership where they see the police as stakeholders they basically just saw us as law enforcement coming in to do a spot to work get back out so you know we went back sat with my community safety and security team you know i must say that um fortunately i have one of the best community safety and security teams in the 19 geographic divisions that's that's from my view you know because they've been big on these projects they've you know held to task and we've managed to get a lot done the starting point was we looked at what programs were already out there and we realized that most of the programs in social intervention they were kind of targeting persons who were between the ages of 18 to 29 now most of those persons were already into yeah they have been baptized into anti-social behavior you know the formal thing where you say it's hard to bend a tree when it's grown you know so we decided we decided that all right let's look at uh age group that is lower than that easier to mold and transform however you know the overall plan is to secure the future because pretty much we've been trying a lot of things and some of them short term some not working as effective so we say all right let's hit a program you know i thought of it that when we do this investment even if if as a commanding officer i don't read the immediate benefits the commanders to come in the future would get this benefit from in short then you're saying that you see this as a long-term project i've read the statement by a psychologist a psychiatrist or psychologist i'm not sure who he was it says give me a child in its first seven years and a church took that and said make that child a stubborn stuff for the rest of their life and they look at what they call the formative ears is it your view that that part of the fix the jamaica's crime problem has to be attacked from that perspective well naturally we'll have to look at phases you know what we want to achieve right now our mid-term and then long-term goals you know but i'll agree with you that you know that's a long-term solution you know for the crime situation where we look at the social issues really and truly from the police standpoint and what i'm seeing around us in saint james you know we we cannot arrest ourselves out of this problem you know it's not totally a restable problem you know while there are serious law enforcement issues that we'll arrest people for there are some issues that you know you mention it parenting challenges you you have kids who have been exposed to adverse childhood experiences and nothing has been put in place to really target them with trauma programs to heal some of these damages so i could tell you you're talking stuff that many think is is the traditional police business because they grew up with policemen that said come here and um um so so we've cut that out as a matter of fact you know where parents would see the police on the road and try to tell the kids um i'm gonna let the police beat you or you know try to use the police to scare them we're moving away from that you know we're partners and i'll tell you about the programs that we did quickly so we started the feeding program in the salt spring area we went to our commission our police major general anthony anderson he gave us full blessings and support and pointed us to some other areas how we could build out this so what we did we basically took over a feeding program for all schools in salt springs so we ensure you mean you mean the members of the jamaica constabulary force yes so we came back we went to our private sector partners and you know i must say a big thank you to quite a few of those guys at the state choco foundation rainforest all of them came on board and the investment to make this project work was a big investment you know i never knew plates were that expensive until we went to get plates for the kids [Laughter] now what we spoke on wednesday you are on your way to a particular function with kids and stuff can you can you share with me a little bit i want all jamaica to hear a little of what we talked about on wednesday all right so what we did and since 2018 we've set up summer camps and you know i'm using the opportunity to kind of say thanks to the guys who've supported us to to make this happen because what what's what's happening now is that the bigger part of jamaica is realizing that it's good to get the police department to be the front runners in this social intervention because we're really the ones most able to leverage the benefits of the social investment that is made in these communities you know looking at what big investments have been made over the many years when things get real bad only the military and the police can really go back into these communities so they relapse a lot quicker if you don't pull the security forces up front when you're making this social intervention it builds a investment as well with you partnering with the community in this way yes so to answer your question pastor what we were doing it's a summer camp program um on screen there i'm seeing kids we have buses that we're taking them from the community you know we very tight on the protocols so for our summer camp this year and last year both summer camps were done in virtual space so last year we were the first police department to conduct a virtual summer camp in the caribbean you know it worked well jc joseph who is our partner that came on board the police department went into the communities we put up the car we have technical guys in the police force so we put up the internet facility we got tablets and computers and we went through the entire place hook it up for them ensure that it worked and then we did exactly what we would do for a normal summer camp but we did it virtually so they remained at home in their bubbles and we took lunch to them am i hearing you to say that the members of the jcf hook up the tablets and set up the computer networking system so the kids at home are in their little areas would be able to join the the the virtual camp so we're not just only cops as though you know the traditional thought you know we have cops who are teachers so even for the program we have police officers who are trained teachers and we carry out this function of teaching the kids we teach them social graces how to deal with disputes you know just some other things it's not a boot camp you know it's not like we're militarizing these kids you know but with giving the parents a break and we realized that a lot of these troubled communities they have young fields and as i was having a discussion with my territorial officer who is in charge of this we agreed that we must start teaching them to live together at a small age so that when they grow up you know the future of this gang feud is more likely to be reduced well commanding officer before kamara engage you it just jumped in my mind as you mentioned gangs about how many guns we have been in in western jamaica well maybe you said james since james is your territory because we talk about gangs we talk about uh guys i saw this video clip of this youngster that was going viral when they asked him what he wants to be when he grew up and i don't want to repeat on this platform what he said and the reason he said it and that's not something we take lightly real church for me happens after we've left the building called church and and there is a view that only tough policing can fix jamaica's crime problem jamaica's government general the current gigi the most honorable sir patrick lyndon allen at his swearing-in said that there is nothing wrong with jamaica that cannot be fixed with what is right with jamaica and some of what i'm listening to you saying i never knew that police officers would be involved but that's part of what is right with jamaica so um we we've also taken our stance to surrounding these gangs we're not giving them any free advertisement you know we're not speaking of them they're not a good element in the society yes there are a few gangs out there and pretty much our operations as you see is focused to targeting these gangs but one of our main purpose of capturing these youths is reducing the recruiting capability of capabilities of these gangs because you know if there's little role models outside there in the communities so what we the police are doing you know we're filling that gap so pretty much we're doing a lot of social work for me i see myself as a social worker the only difference is that i have the powers of arrest to arrest someone but i'm a big social worker doing my job i want to do a little posting here that he did part of his studies at ncu so can i say we went to the same university yes that's true that's true sir so what we're having with these and other programs and you know i know this is a short time but when so we started out prior to kovid and when kovit came in we decided that hey we're not going to stop this so that's how we moved into this virtual space and got the police officers to set up the cell sites to run the connections to put the routers in and to ensure that these kids had these devices and we've left them with these devices so if school reopens and that's what they have to use all of them now have these devices that came to the police department and sponsored by joseph we're going to go to music uh in a moment and on the other side of the music you mentioned uh leaving the devices you mentioned uh your officers being able to connect the stuff for them i'm going to engage you camara i want to tell you that he knows about homework and the value of homework you know i'm going to ask the talk about a little bit but we have the one and only sir messer chief saxophonist and uh we will take a break and join him for music and we'll come back to the conversation [Music] so ah [Music] ah uh [Music] uh [Music] so uh [Music] hmm [Music] ah [Music] ah [Music] wow wow that that's an instrument i want to learn to play indeed and welcome back to the conversation um you know i've always loved this speech by john fitzgerald kennedy january 20 1961 when uh ask not what your country can do for you but what we together can do for our country what question do you have for senior superintendent kamar oh certainly i have two questions for you sir elise but first i must commend you and your team for what you are doing in the community because we find that the police taking this sort of social approach can do great deal to our young people but tell us though some of the programs that you have out there to assist in the social intervention of our young people and i'd like to know as well i'm intrigued to know the success rate some of the the changes that you have seen taking place as a result of the program that you have all right so i would say the first one visibly all of those kids that you're seeing there those kids wherever they see us now they refer to us as aunts uncle they're running towards us we're you know sometimes you feel a kid tugging on you while you're out there pulling around one of those kids who were in one of these programs so you know there is a big culture change there and these kids are in turn policing their parents you know telling them what to do what's right what's wrong you know the unit the shirts that they wear we use the jcf badges on them too as a branding tool and i must tell you that there are some many cops those little kids and i must say that one our success rate for the police division in terms of the recovery of firearms we're seeing a lot more firearms being recovered and you know it's evident that the people have more confidence and trust in the police department relative to some [Music] issues that people were not able to resolve by themselves we see them resolving them now based on the partnership and the programs that we've had with these communities even in the schools we've trained some 25 police officers as school resource officers and you know traditionally you would not see police officers in these schools but we have police officers working with these schools now to support the deans of discipline you know and get the information that is needed so if a kid falls out of school quickly the police department is able to know what's happening and then the children's services and the police department is checking up on that kid finding out what challenges if it is that they need support financially we get aid agencies to get there if the parents are delinquent and we have to handle that part we handle that part so you know 25 school resource officers targeting some 40 schools across the parish you know it's a big support it's a connection between hold a woman there not now the thing is running too fast for my little brain to really process all of that because i don't know that the electronic or print media captures one-tenth of what you're doing or what your team is doing we quickly see on the news if someone is shot or or even quicker yet if there's a demonstration against the police but i can't recall seeing [Music] or hearing by the electronic media or the print media anything near this fantastic intervention because unless we fix the root we will always have the fruits of the same stuff and sorry to interrupt you but i really want to ask you mentioned that you have resource officers going into schools and if if a youth fought out of school with a system in the jcf it sounds almost like church has this prevented you from doing tough policing could could it not be said that boy said james police becoming soft if talk to me about these two sides of the coin but i want you to know that i am blown away by the social intervention part of it because i'm a firm believer in social spiritual intervention well for everything there must be a balance you know and that is where the force for good concept is taking the jcf you know we we don't want to be viewed as a as you said tough police we want to be viewed as your number one law enforcement agency one in which you can have a high level of trust and confidence and if there are issues you can share these issues quickly with us and you know i'll just bring you to a point now we have a quick response we have a elite quick response team that has very tough highly trained officers when we saw the impact of the pandemic and we realized that a lot of students never had data they never had the instruments needed to make this work the quick response police team was tasked to chip in with the motorcycles what we did we went to these schools we got the work on a thumb drive we took it to our departments stakeholders got all of these work printed sorted out place them in backpacks gave the quick response tough elite team to visit some 10 communities targeting some 270 kids giving them this homework taking the homework from them taking it back to the principal's respective schools wow wow wow and i hear the audience cheering tremendous tremendous i am blown away same here and and camaro i'm sure you've been looking to see if there's a mistake that i need to repeat from our friends who are viewing we have thousands of persons from across jamaica across the us and canada connecting with us at this moment certainly and carol clark i'm wondering says let the change start with you thank god for the involvement in taking the time to make the choice to give these children the chance to change their direction god bless you servant of god and marcia beckford says ssp ellis it's clear that god gave you this wisdom or vision god be praised and adored hey awesome stuff awesome stuff uh ssp um we we will have to bring you back not that our time is fully gone but but there are some youngsters and other senior persons and i will engage them we sit on the same platform guys who would have been involved in the other side of the coin who would have made the choice to give god a chance and they are experiencing meaningful change and we use them i have a little uh magazine whatever you call it it's by csjp pathways to violence prevention evidence for transformation and uh there's another one by the same group that they talk about using violence or once violence produces in the context of being violence prevented i'm not sure if i'm capturing it right but i believe that apart a fundamental part of jamaica's crime problem is a breakdown of our social order a breakdown of our homes and stuff like that and um you know the first time i went to the cayman islands i got to this four-way stop and i saw everybody comes and they stop and they allow the person who got there before them to move first there's a four-way stop sign up where i i drive through on my way from iron shore to come here to avoid the traffic on the main road i come across glendale and this morning i'm coming and i will deliberately stop there and look you know these guys just breeze through and here's this truck i allow the truck because the truck was loaded but behind the truck was a red car and behind the red car with a taxi van and i said to myself at least now go and say okay let that car go through first no sir now in this context this this this new change i want to challenge you that part of what we have to do also is to maintain these little areas of respect for jamaican law because in discipline that is tolerated anywhere fosters greater in discipline in other areas but i really want on behalf of the team here in west jamaica to commend the leadership of the saint james jamaica constibution force and major general anderson i have one vote it has been given to me i don't have it but i'm asking for one vote when you're selecting the next crop of deputy super deputy commissioners i want i want to have one vote but um you were talking about the whole matter of of looking at the problem from that early stage and um we have five minutes to wrap up pick three of the many things you'd like to wrap up on while mello fm will amplify your voice across not only western jamaica but across all of jamaica all right so one of the key areas you know i want the citizens to see the police as partners we're really stakeholders don't continue to see the police as being something separate from what you are there are a lot of ways in which we can make this place better and one of them is you know everyone taking that responsibility you know to do what is right you understand and you know you mentioned the stoplight and quite a few things you know we want the support of a lot of agents is even the media to give us some big support in public education and sensitization you know a lot of programs that are out there you know we could be targeting the mind in such a way that we change you speaking of that change in behavior you know i believe that even the music can be used in a strong way you know and we we should be encouraging that type of thing you know when i was listening to the independence songs of the past you know i kind of felt very good you know and some of them resounded from many years help me pick up jamaica yes yes this is the mind not free yeah so you know right there you know i really want us to to look at you know targeting the the population in that in a sensible way you know we want greater levels of partnership a lot of persons who are retired want to see them coming out a lot of big groups being mentors big sister programs big brother programs and take back these communities you know it's a few little guys out there who have a few guns and think they're really in charge and the majority of us are just sitting back and allowing a few of these little guys to have us as if we're captive in our place so you know let's partnership and let's take it back from them you know you know i want to see the law-abiding citizens especially in saint james you know taking backs and dreams you have a good police team one that is supportive you know we're building that trust and confidence with you and we have highly trained skilled guys who can take the challenge these gangs are groups there are nothing even close to what we the police department and the military is capable of doing so you know let's just partnership you know and let's just take this back from the few guys who think that they're in charge thank you well well i told super senior superintendent uh that that i don't think one sitting would be enough uh because there's so much in the conversation and i i i want to engage senior sue with a number of the guys that we sit with in the mentorship staff so we can have the conversation uh from their side uh from your side and i one of the things i'm really thankful for is that they have moved from that side of violence and and they've given me even more uh to say the bible said wherewith shall a young man cleanse his ways and the answer comes rushing down by taking heed according to thy commandments a young man is sinners enticed the consent though or not that's the word and we believe that that uh while we will do all of these social things but there is this inescapable non-negotiable issue that that that the matter of changing a life has to come from a higher power but that there is also the prime place camaro where each life must make the choice to give god a chance to help them experience meaningful change you have 20 seconds to ask your last question today to the senior soup and he has 20 seconds to answer you and i'll wrap up in the next 30 seconds could i just commend him sir and you know if it were permitted sir i'd give you a big up or boom off your face today because big up sir i'm telling you i'm so pleased on the news we're just hearing these negative things all the time about the police and the force and what they're doing and what they're not doing but here we are hearing from you that you are taking a hands-on approach to solving to doing your part in advancing literally the welfare of our young people they are going to be the ones to take our place and so we have to ensure their future so i want to commend you and your team for the wonderful work you're doing and be assured sir we're praying for you and uh pastor we know a little bit about the bible as you know so you know you know that famous romans 13 verse 4 you know we are basically ministers of god for those who do the right i love it i love it i love it and you should speak to the next part of it the law is a terror not to those who are obedient but to the others to the wrongdoing to the wrongdoers that's a message to all those gangs there you know that i don't really think that this is our partnership it's self-policing you know we're going to remove those who are not law-abiding and allow the law-abiding citizens to live their life in peace senior soup thanks for being here with us our time is gone and we're going to go over to one of my favorite groups and while they get set i want to close with a couple of statements from john f kennedy in his speech divided there is little we can do united there is little we cannot do in a host of cooperative ventures and we stand ready to cooperate to partner together in fostering wholesome mentorship the conversation takes a pause at this stage we'll see you next week and i want to dare say that you will see ssp vernon elias next week you know what i didn't ask him i'm telling you go see him thank you so much uh senior superintendent and we look forward to the continued conversation and continue to pray for the police department and the partnership with us as well our joy and we go over to my favorite little group from mount horeb the remnant of the remnant [Music] [Music] [Music] treasure [Music] [Applause] [Music] take my shallow mighty god we serve and he his nature we have come to understand is to love and to save but at this moment one more time we want to get into an attitude of prayer as we ask god's blessings on the message this afternoon and the best way to do so is the sing of the love of the lord i love you lord i love you lord [Music] i love you lord [Music] for your mercy never fails me all my days have been held in your hands from the moments that i wake up until i lay my hands i will see the goodness of god [Music] with every [Music] [Music] is [Music] is me your goodness is running after it's running out to me [Music] your goodness is [Music] a heavenly father and a god one more afternoon reacts that you will move upon us through the power of your holy spirit pray that you anoint your servant anoint your word and anoint viewers and listeners and we pray through the power of the holy spirit through the spoken word you will bring conviction you will bring conversion and you will bring transformation for we pray in the wonderful and sweet name of our lord and savior jesus christ and let all god's children say amen our message this afternoon is entitled fate versus fury i could also have entitled this message the fantastic four the fantastic four we look keenly from the word of the lord from the book of daniel daniel chapter 3 will be the focus passage for this meditation but i must say to all of us that there's times we find ourselves in a certain situation and there are five basic situations that we find ourselves in a time when the boundaries of our lives are constricted when you find yourself what is colloquially called between a rock and a hard place you are in a tight situation you find yourself in a tough situation when circumstances overcome you when justice is truly blind the scales don't tilt in your favor you find yourself in a tough situation you find yourself in a terrible situation when forces seek to destroy you when not only human forces but demonic forces try to destroy you you find yourselves in a terrible situation okay you find yourself in a tragic situation when the challenges of life overwhelm you you find yourself in a tragic situations when the interim nature of life becomes a reality that is indeed a tragic situation but there are times we find ourselves in a truth situation when we have to stand up for morality when we have to make a moral decision we find ourselves in a truth situation that's when we have to say like joshua as for me and my house we will serve the lord that's the time when we have to be like three hebrew boys shadrach meshach and abednego when we find ourselves in a truth situation we have to stand up for what is right we have to stand up for morality as a matter of fact dr martin luther king immortalizes the words of james russell lowell when he says once to every man and nation comes the moment to decide in a strife of truth with falsehood for the good or evil side some great cars he said some great decision offering each the bloom albright and the choice goes by forever tweaks that darkness and that light then to the side with truth is noble when we share her ted crust air her cars bring flame and profit and twists prosperous to be trust he continues it is the brave man chooses while the coward man stands aside till the multitude make virtue of the fate they had denied by the light of burning matters christ thy bleeding feet we truck toiling up new calvaries every with the cross that turns not back he continues new occasions teach new duties time makes ancient good uncought they must upward still and onward who would keep abreast the truth though the cause of evil prosper yet the truth alone is strong though the cause of evil prosper yet the truth alone is strong though her portion be scoffered and upon the throne be wrong yet that scaffold sways the future and hide the dim unknown standard god within the shadow keeping watch above his own that's the word words of martin luther king jr as we look at daniel chapter 3 there are few things that i want us to take note of quickly i want us to take note of the king's demeanor the king's dominion the king king nebuchadnezzar in a rejection of the interpretation of the message of the image that he dreamt about he went to the plain of dura and that plane symbolizes uh uh the glory and pride of nebuchadnezzar and so he went to the plain of dura he built an image about 90 feet tall and nine feet wide and he made it of just gold symbolizing babylon and he was determined that his kingdom was a kingdom to last forever he called his she called his leaders he called his prime ministers he called his presidents come to the dedication of this statue and when you're coming bring your musicians because at the sound of the music all the attendees must bow to the statue they must bow in homage to me whenever they hear the music church whether we want to admit it or not all of us have been influenced by some type of music viewers we have all been influenced whether it is reggae jazz blues rock and roll rhythm and blues country and western hip-hop classical gospel whatever music is we have been influenced in some way or the other all of us been influenced by some type of music now hear me young people hear me church it has been said that music is used to uplift the mind and the soul music itself yes can be used to uplift the mind and elevate the heart and the mind calm the nerves calm our fear music can be relaxing to the mind music can promote love music can promote peace but when music is wrongly used hear me somebody it corrupts the mind it entices you to sin it entices you to be violent music can promote violence music can encourage you to dress inappropriately to disrespect one another and to influence to do something foolish and something bad that can land you in prison i can take your very own life are you hearing me somebody in church as i present this message i have a problem i have a problem with some of the things that are permitted in my country jamaica there are some music that negatively influenced the mind there are some music that are promoting violence and disrespect of individuals disrespect of women disrespect of children are you hearing me and while these music some of them are banned from the airway many of them are still allowed to be played in communities are you hearing me some of them are still allowed to influence the minds of young people sometimes you can't even sleep you hear music with derogative words my wife and i were traveling and we heard a music a song that described women in such a low tone and term that my wife turned to me and said really women sing those songs really women really dance to those songs music a matter of fact we are reaping some of the things that we allow to happen we are reaping our youngsters are being fed with the wrong music they have been given the wrong message to music some of these music talk about how they can fire their gun or what they can do with women and the authority and how what the how they can need in their hands and smoke what they can smoke that's what some of these music and they are allowed to pray to play freely and to influence the minds of young people and then you call on the church for help well why why why the root of the cause is still being cherished call the church to help when the seed has already been sown of violence and disrespect so the music started playing nebuchadnezzar was told that there were three boys three hebrew boys that he had just given some form of promotion that these three hebrew boys were out there and and they were saying they are not going to bow to any statue they're not going to bow faith versus fury so nebuchadnezzar was furious but the boys were faithful nebuchadnezzar said hey whoever they think they are bring them to me furious but the boys were faithful they were confident in their god they know that there is only one god who deserves to be served and that's the god of heaven so nebuchadnezzar call them and i want you to take note of the demand of the king the king said by the way he had already made his first decree that anyone who does empower will be thrown into a fiery furnace and the boys knew that but when it comes on to fate we have to stand up for god in spite of what the consequences mean oh and so the king made a demand the king said hear me shadrach meshach and abednego you probably didn't hear the first time but i am going to give you a second chance i am going to give you another chance as should in case you didn't hear the consequences i'm gonna give you another chance whenever you hear of a music play you need to power he asked them is it true shadrach meshach and abednego in verse 14. now you do not serve my god or worship the golden image whatever set up verse 15 know if you are ready at the time you hear the sound of the horn and the flute and the heart and the sultry you can bow down and worship the image or you shall be cast into the midst of a burning furnace shadrach meshach and abednego said to the king king we have no need to talk to you on this matter we are not going to bow and even if it doesn't please our god to save us we will not power church oh there would not bow they would not bend they could not be broken they could not be burnt they served the living god they stood up unafraid they stood on a shame and they stood uh they were not alone sometimes friends we may be called upon to to face similar trials some of us as 70 adventists the moment we step into a business place and asks our work they declare at times it is declared to us even though it is against our constitutional rights they declare to us if there are 70 adventists we now give you the sabbath oh i wish i have some worshipers who understand the preacher but hear me hear me somebody do don't bow when it comes on to what is morally right with god we have a problem now several adventists when it comes on to getting work sometimes we are told that we ain't getting the job because we have to work on saturday hear me today friends sometimes we are called upon to make important decisions in our lives sometimes the very company that will keep will call us to make illegal unethical and immoral decisions but mother teresa said i am not called to be successful i am called to be faithful don't strive necessarily to be successful in in your religious practice try strive to be faithful to almighty god but ellen white puts it the best way hearing white says the greatest want of the world is still the want of men men who will not be bought or sold men who in their in the inmost souls are true and honest men who is not a fear to call sin by its right name men whose conscience is true to duty as negan is to the poor men who will stand up for the right for the heavens fall give me such a man and so with my time going nebuchadnezzar his fury was raging heard that the boys would not bow i'm going to give them a second chance but hear me while while while fury was raging faith was resolute was resolute oh king we will as a matter of fact king we are sure that our god will deliver us we are confident that we serve a delivering god we are confident we serve a mighty god who rules in heaven rules on earth but hear me king if our god oh hallelujah if our god chooses not to deliver us let it be known let it be written in the chronicles of babylon we will not bow god give me such an adventist then i want you to take note of the king's disbelief oh the kings disbelieve they threw in the king commanded his strong men to bind these boys and he commanded heat the fiery fairness to the to the maximum get oh help me holy ghost don't get don't get any dogwood don't get any breadfruit wood get the real lagood can't somebody talk with me get the real good heat the fire to his hearts get the wood that cannot burn out too fast i'll get no little brown brown no get no bamboo get the real stuff heated to the hottest so what i mean by them and by the way the bible says that they pound them and they put them in there with all their clothes they threw them in the fire the kings disbelieve furnace was heated to the hottest but when the king sat on his throne watched the process by the way friends the vet the furnace was so hot that even the strong men who threw them into the fire dropped dead i'm saying to somebody you don't have to fight your battles for yourself god will fight for you god will come through for you all you have to do is to be faithful faith versus fury so fury was blasphemous because because nebuchadnezzar said i want to see oh mercy i want to see that god who is able to deliver you from the fiery furnace wade nebuchadnezzar if you wait enough you will see that there is a god in heaven who rings but the boys while faith was blessed was white fury was blasphemous faith was certain faith was sperm our god is able and even if he doesn't choose to we will still not power and in this end friends few we were savage fury was selfish fury was senseless and by the way this was a senseless decision by nebuchadnezzar if you want to punish those boys you don't heed the fairness to the hottest level because as you throw them in they will burn out but if you really want to punish them if you really want to give them a slow death just lower the heat no man but in his fury in his rage but wild fury was blasphemous while fury was savage and selfish fate was servitude these boys did not resist these boys just follow the instruction and then the king disbelief the king threw in three men three men remained standing who did not bow three men went and stood before the king three men heard the king's request three men answered the king resolutely three men watched as they heat the fiery furnace three men were pounded three men were thrown in the fire but suddenly a new mathematics new mathematics was established they threw in three but nebuchadnezzar said i hate i see four and the fourth man looks like the son of the living god they the boys were ordinary boys the boys were ordinary but when the fourth man went inside the furnace oh help me holy ghost when the fourth man stood inside the furnace the boys became magnificent so we have the four magnificence [Music] we have the fantastic four the man who was the fourth man looks like the son of god i need to say to somebody this evening that when you stand up for god god will stand up for you in the midst of your fairness god will take care of you his name the fantastic four the fourth man was the son of god the fourth man was the alpha and omega the fourth man was the lily of the valley the brights and morning star never nebuchadnezzar could not believe it and i have to read this for you nebuchadnezzar came off his throne went to the mouth of the furnace and said shadrach meshach and abednego hear this no servants of the most high god one day every knee shall bow [Music] and every tongue confess now jesus christ is lord let the church of the living god say amen we have to look at nebuchadnezzar's dismay no i only have a few minutes but nebuchadnezzar's dismay servant of the most high god he said come out and come here dear god hallelujah your god has delivered you shadrach meshach and abednego came from the midst of the fiery fairness hear me somebody god is god and you can't compare no one to god hear me in basketball you can compare laverne that's his name lebron james with michael jordan in in in stricken you can compare um don bradman with george headley in in in in in reggae you can compare bob marley to peter touch in in in in in in in comedy you can compare oliver and rafi muffy oh mafi you can compare oliver and mafi i'm repeating what these individuals are saying in in in in politics you can compare prime minister michael manley to prime minister edward siaka but when it comes on to god there is no comparison somebody needs to say amen when it comes unto god there is no comparison and nebuchadnezzar learned and he said servant of the most high god there is no god like your god in babylon i want jamaica to know that there is no god like the god of heaven there is none that is almighty selassie cannot be compared with my god cannot be compared but today friends we can stand in faith and i ask you as i get ready to close faith fury was astonished to see the fourth man but fate was alive they brought out those three hebrew boys they walk from the fiery furnace and i have a question to ask you at the end of this message and i have the answer for the question and the answer must keep you faithful the fury was astonished but faith was alive before the three boys came out they were alive and the bible says that they they had on their clothes still so their clothes were not burned the only thing that was burnt was the the the what they used to bite them not even the smell of smoke was upon them god was their air conditioner in the midst of the fire as a matter of fact in the midst of the fire it was cooler than the outside not only that god was the air freshener because not even the smell of smoke was upon them somebody needs to say amen while fury was acknowledging and adoring god fate was surging higher while fury was decorated because nebuchadnezzar made a decree that only the god of heaven must be worshiped and any other god whose worship those individuals should be destroyed and then i asked you solemnly what kind of fate do you have what kind of faith do you have is it a spear type of fate that you use only in emergency is it a real bar of fate that is easily upset and you have to push it all the time is it a bust bust fate that is written only when it goes in your direction or is it a resolute fate that will stand for the heavens fall but then i close with this with a new mathematics they threw in three persons nebuchadnezzar confirmed that they saw four in the fire four in the fire and the fourth one looks like the son of god but here is the question they took out three where is the food man the magic question where is the fort man and the answer he is still in the fire and he's waiting when they throw you in for him to stand by you he's waiting because he's still in the fire stand up for what you believe don't never compromise the truth of god's word never compromise your standard no matter what you are threatened with if you stand up for god god will stand up for you amen what a powerful and potent message stand up for god and he will stand for you and choose the lord choose wisely amen we want to thank pastor williams for that sermon and at this time we are going to be moving into our prior connection yes we're still going to be having our prayer connection tonight so please ensure that you send in your prayer requests in the group so that we can petition on behalf of your of you and before we do so we are going to be favored with a song by remnant of the remnants that's remnant of the remnant at this time be blessed [Music] [Music] up in heaven hallelujah [Music] oh hallelujah he's your defender before the father in a temple made by god no man behind the veil in a place most holy hallelujah [Music] [Applause] [Music] of [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] every in the sanctuary [Music] [Music] hallelujah [Music] [Applause] [Music] my [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] in the sanctuary [Applause] [Music] is [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] he's [Applause] [Music] he makes provision for [Music] [Applause] [Music] in the sanctuary [Music] [Applause] [Music] he's [Music] this is my is [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Music] [Applause] [Music] in this saturation [Applause] [Music] [Applause] [Music] to where [Music] bless his name i i tell you something amen master tremendous message uh and the the voices just set the right tone for the message amen i i when i was the age well let me leave it alone all right it is a joy pastor rose for us to be here at this time we have heard a message that is speaking of the power or spoke about the power of almighty god the power to deliver the power to transform the power to save and we are so thankful that we can be a part of this it's it's good to be joined with uh pastor johnson and pastor rose it is a privilege for us to enter the sanctuary on behalf of someone who may be in need of deliverance and so we are going to be going through our prayer requests at this time we have a few i'll allow uh pastor johnson to share some of his pastor rose will share some of his as well and then we will have prayer to look at these issues that are coming up we we thank god that you are able to sit here and be talking to us and you are telling us that you are going to continue to pray for some others yes let virgin to know that you are an answered prayer amen god is good to him and his greatest fear is no longer a concern to him thank god for that pastor we have a number of intervals praying for before we start praying there is um there's one lady in the chat a prayer warrior that is consistently at it um every western maker program you will watch look in the chat you find her saying i'm praying for you and to take her name i just like the our viewers to know that when verona daley said i prayed for you it means that she stopped she prayed for your case and then she sent the texts after while we have a number up in the world praying for your prayer warriors across um west jamaica verona daily is praying while she stops she prays for your case and then she tells you she's praying for you and we want to really thank her we're going to pray for her also she has a man a problem with her eye having an issue there and also her daughter is in the united states she got ill she had to stay there and um she's not over that yet we want to pray for peruna's daughter we have we're praying for arlene arlene's son with an health issue i pray for you want to continue praying for acadia karia is in the university hospital she's 18 years old i understand she was um beaten by five women with highness bottles and then left her with spinal issues in the university hospital we want to continue to pray for her she's in a critical case she needs to go overseas i understand and there are is financially handling that so the mother is asking us to pray for her a few individuals in the chat suffering from covered symptoms covered and it's aftermath they have tracy covey 19 she is now in her hospital bed and she is having sore throat and headache richard mills marsha and the hall's family are also suffering from kovid and there's a calvin there's a calvin and kion uh asking off for prior calvin met in an accident um his wife was going through another those both of them going through another challenge with um miscarriage so they want us to pray that god will help them through this and grant them the miracle they are seeking um civil gail health and dane elder dane drummond met an accident also as in the hospital in salve and he is about to do surgery but there is a consistent fever that is that is on and off and he is seeking our priors dalton in lucy hospital is also seeking or prior we want to pray for the families the families affected by that car accident in black river last sabbath and leaving family members bereft of their loved ones the white family in the in sunshine um sunshine this sunshine is their church i believe that's in florida has lost their daughter and so we're going to be praying for that one also pastor chambers i know you're looking in the chat for some mothers but i just took out these and we will be also praying for one of our prayer coordinators her brother fell off a pickup last night the doctors are struggling they're not certain whether or not the brother is going to live but we pray that in the name of jesus he will live yes we don't want to leave out haiti you know of that 7.2 earthquake in haiti this morning leaving many struggling for life and you can you can list the many issues that indians are going through in haiti and then we want to pray for franklin is sick glenn is going to do surgery um sandra james her son russian in the hospital and young bulging in the hospital pastor if i keep on praying if i keep on talking we won't pray so might as well we go right into prayer pastor rosa and pastor chambers will you lead us into prayer for these and many other cases shall we pray loving lord we are grateful that you are a prayer hearing and a prayer answering god you have instructed us to ask to seek to knock you you have you have reminded us you have told us that we must be careful be worried for nothing be anxious for nothing but in everything through prayer and supplication unto you we must make our requests known we pray in a mark way for those requests just voiced by the pastors we give you thanks for how you have been working on our behalf thus far and lord we are confident that you who have started this good work you can bring it to a positive end we lift up before you those who are suffering in the hospital or at home we pray for those who who their marriages that are in a critical condition we know that be it physical or emotional illness mighty god you are able to heal but lord we pray in a very special way for those who may be healthy in body but are spiritually sick those who have heard the messages night after night sabbath after sabbath and are still in the valley of indecision mighty god we pray that by the power of your holy spirit you will call someone to our consciousness that this is the day of change bring forth oh god a decision help us to understand that at this time we are making decisions for time and for eternity and so i pray mighty god that you will bring someone across the line help what someone to understand that it does not make sense they stay in sin when salvation is available full and free and so lord we ask you that you will bring salvation to a heart this evening lord the second message has been given may a decision be made may a choice be reached may someone yield to you this afternoon for we ask these mercies in jesus worthy name amen and amen amen loving god and father we pause in this moment a little while longer to bring before you a few more names of those who have put in their requests for prayer for divine intervention for your input in their situation and we're asking oh father that you'll continue to allow the precious blood of jesus to cleanse us from our sin and unrighteousness so that our prayers will come up to you as sweet smelling incense we recognize oh father that there are many who are in this world at this time who are grieving who heart whose hearts are breaking because of the kinds of issues that they're facing whether it is illness whether it is a financial situation whether it is a loss of a loved one there are so many who are suffering at this time and it's becoming even more overwhelming and sometimes like the three hebrew boys in that fire it seem as if the fire with all its intensity is about to consume them but we are praying now that through the outworking of your holy spirit and through the presence of jesus christ that you will indeed be that fourth person in their situation you will be that second person in the lonely situation you will be that individual beside them that men looking on even those who doubt you will look to say there is another person whom they might not be able to trace your whereabouts but they will recognize that there is a god in heaven who is capable of bringing healing or bringing restoration of bringing deliverance of giving someone the chance to rise above their circumstances and to continue to hold on to you knowing that you will never leave them nor forsake them we pray for the families who are grieving we put the elder from the word of hope church in your hand the family of the elder from the word of hope church in your hands and ask oh father that you will give them comfort you will give them peace in this moment of grieving you will give them the reminder that you will never leave them nor forsake them that your hands are always beneath them and like the strength of the eagle like the wing the wind beneath the wings of the eagle you will boil them up you will give their spirit a boost to know that you are still in charge the question is asked if you hear the song write the response oh yes you care and we are thankful oh god that we have a god like you who will hear from the depths of our souls the burdening issues the issues that perplexes the issues that keep us up and nice the issue that are before us we are asking now that you will respond to these requests in the precious name of jesus we ask as we say amen and amen almighty god and our heavenly father we'll continue to talk to you we recognize that you are the mover of heaven and earth the one who commands the angel back and forth between heaven and earth in answer to the priors of your children the one who sits and receives all these prayers the one who is faithful to respond to us sometimes god will patient run out but you come through nonetheless god do hear an answer prayer we lay before you all these prayer requests in the chat and some listening now might not be able to type so sick on the hospital bed they can't type and have no one to type for them but the same way god you reach out to that man who had no one to put him in the water when it was troubled look out god for these who can't even type a prayer request we are looking for answers we can't be ungrateful god you've answered so many of our prayers you have delivered so many even those who are praying for their loved ones to be baptized they celebrate the victory you've delivered so much who have struggled with the covet and they are now free but they're praying for others joining me god is over 5 000 people talking to you now not for our own case but the case of others we trust that you have these priors to be answered some of us have not received answer yet but god we don't mind waiting as long as we are waiting on you for we know you are faithful to come through i ask you to grant this elder drummond divine assistance over his health yes that that fever will go and not return he will be privileged to go back to his family whole again i pray before that i bring before you that dalton in the hospital in lucy god you know him i don't know him but you know him and i'm asking that that prior be answered for him and that he can go back to his family for the tracy for the hall's family struggling with covet and many others struggling with kofi that they will live and not die but go back home to their family to praise god yes i beg you heavenly father for that that young 18 that 18 year old who has been bruised and wounded by five mature women that while you look out for her justice you will grant her divine healing and even that spinal issue that looks many times not to be solved nor healed that you god will heal it i lay before you all the new converts those have been baptized those your holy ghost and human agent have labored for and won the battle and have now come over onto your side we know you are faithful and able to keep them and we are asking you father just to do that but move upon us as members to do everything that you you we can do as we join hands with god to make it easier for them to remain faithful in the church and not just to remain faithful but to be ambassadors for christ to labor for the kingdom night and day help us to finish this gospel so we can go home i pray before you all those families the government the people in haiti that you god who brought them through that that that terrible earthquake 10 years ago you will even bring them through this one greater than you did in the past we look at many losing their loved ones many weeping jesus i know if as human beings praying we can feel it for them you who make them must feel it but i understand the great controversy must be over but i ask you jesus that you will look into their property stricken situation look into their heartbreaking situation and just do something for haiti and over haiti we bring before you that country for a divine intervention intervene urgently heavenly father the devil will be proven a liar and heaven a victor we could stay here calling names but god you know them all and every case we only say we're looking for and says don't let us down like you never did don't let us down we pray in jesus name amen amen amen master while we are waiting as we as we prepare to to bring the ram you know uh you you mentioned the number of persons viewing and i i there are two things i'd like to see about that number one with over five thousand instruments and so there are others there are so many thousands behind that pastor if we if together we can pray six o'clock twelve midday and six in the afternoon pm i tell you something i believe some fantastic work will be done by god in this earth secondly i i must and and we're just talking about the thousands that's on youtube we haven't mentioned facebook because yes okay we haven't touched the wc so when when when you're talking about 20 or more thousand right across the world gathering together and praying i believe that by the spirit of god this place can be turned upside down you know what i want to ask them to remember one of our elders pastor manley campbell uh um i'm elder i should say manly camp who pass we want to keep praying for the family so we're asking the world family to keep praying for the family of our elder as they deal with this loss my final challenge sponsored to our viewers i believe that what we are doing here is of such gravity that as many persons as possible ought to know about this i have seen that we are near 50 thousand um fifty thousand subscribers just about three hundred chart yes past the chambers i believe that this week we should pass fifty thousand because the more you do it is more others will know about it and the more they will be blessed so please i'm going to ask the tech team we might have to find to be able to identify the 50 000 person so that we can do something special but come on do it it's about the proclamation of the gospel the person that you encourage might just encourage others to give their lives to christ so do you let's do the work that's right jeremiah 29 as we leave jeremiah 29 11 said i know the plans i have towards you god said i know those plans i plan to prosper you i never plan to harm you i plan to give you hope and to give you a future rest assure that god means well for you despite what the devil is doing keep hope alive god is changing things to make your destiny and your future better than it is today god be with you until we meet again amen amen we will now move right into our final item as we close this program god bless you yesterday's things were different today [Music] jesus never change jesus [Music] will find a new dwelling [Music] but i'm holding on to the changeless [Music] yesterday's things today again [Music] jesus never never change jesus is always the same the river will change changes and all the mountains will crumble and fall but i believe it's my heart they say come first [Music] today they're different again jesus [Music] jesus is always [Music] wow good singing guys they're known as the hebrew and the preacher
