amen praise god on this july 4th weekend it's a good remembrance to know that the source of true freedom is from god who sent his son jesus on the cross to die for our sins praise the lord so nice to have every one of you here even though it's july 4th weekend i know many people are on vacation or out enjoying themselves so i am so glad that you're able to come and worship with us many of us are on staycation though not on vacation we just stay at home so for those of you who are here uh welcome for those who are tuning in uh welcome especially those first-time viewers on our live stream we're so glad that you're able to join us on we do have somebody monitoring your comments on facebook and so feel free to greet one another as you are watching we have been going through a series in the book of hebrews called the supremacy of christ looking to jesus to run the race with endurance oh by the way for those of you who are watching we do have communion at the end so prepare the elements well we've been going through this book uh hebrews and there's three parts to the book of hebrews there's a broad outline we are on the third part uh praise god the first part we talked about jesus being a superior person chapter 1 to chapter 4 jesus being a superior priest to the week chapter 5 to chapter 10 and today beginning with chapter 11 that he is a superior provider to the weary the writer speaks of the supremacy of jesus because he was talking to a small group of christians that were beleaguered that they were enduring trials and tribulations because of their faith and they were in danger of going back to judaism so the writer tries to encourage him and says jesus is so much better than anything that you have left behind so don't go back don't go back to judaism and that's what they were in danger of doing so he says he's a superior person he's better than the prophets all the prophets he is the latest word from god he's superior to the angels he's superior to moses he's superior to the levitical priesthood and he spends six chapters in the middle speaking of jesus being superior to the levites that he is from the order of melchizedek and the reason for that is as we begin to understand who jesus is that in chapter three when he says looking to jesus you just go wow i have no reason to go back because who who i have in jesus so this morning we begin in chapter three and and last week we ended with the fourth morning in hebrews we said just like who wants to be a millionaire we don't have to go back why because we have lifelines jesus is our because of jesus we have access to the holy of holies through the shed blood of jesus we have confidence to enter into the holy of holies through jesus we have an advocate with the father we have someone who is praying for us at all times but then as we apply the fact that we have those things in jesus he gives us a third actually a third lifeline which is the assembly of believers when you are discouraged when you want to give up it is being part of a small group being part of a care group where people are able to encourage you you're able to share hey i i'm struggling and you have brothers and sisters who can pray for you he said that it's always too early to quit in the christian life now i told you the story of ru darby who stopped three feet from gold he bought all the equipment he put all this hard work and he stopped three feet short of the gold and he missed out on millions of dollars because he stopped too quickly and i was telling the story of the fact that in heaven there are only two types of people there will be those who said ah it was worth it all just like me when i finally climbed up skyline wilderness park and reached all the way to the end at mountaintop or those who would say i quit i quit too early which i had been doing for months actually a couple of years every time i reach lake marie okay let's go back i'm tired but finally i was able to make it and i said wow this is this is great and every time we would go there i would all go always go to the back why because that's my reward so in the christian life don't quit too early it's always too early to quit why because it is worth it all this morning if you have your bibles turn them into hebrews chapter 11 hebrews chapter 11 but before we do that let's look to the lord in prayer our loving heavenly father thank you so much for this july 4th weekend where we could celebrate and appreciate the freedom that we have in this country but father more than the political uh freedom that we enjoy and all the all the rights that we enjoy in this country we thank you for spiritual freedom that is found in jesus christ we thank you lord for his promise that we shall know the truth and the truth shall set us free we thank you that it is in his finished work on the cross that we could be released from the bondage of sin and so we pray father that as we once again look into your word that you would speak to us in a special way for these things we asked in jesus name amen how many of you have ever seen the movie aladdin aladdin those of you with little kids i am sure you've seen it several times there's an iconic scene in that movie where he asked princess jasmine do you trust me the first time is when princess jasmine was pretending to be a commoner and they were being chased by the guards and aladdin goes do you trust me and she reaches out then he goes jump and they jump this building and they land on a tent and they were able to get away from the guard but the second time he asked the question was after he had found a lamp and he was able to get his wish to be a prince and he was courting her and he appears in her balcony and she goes what are you doing here and he was on a magic carpet and he reaches out his hand and he asked again do you trust me of course when he asked it the second time he was busted because she knew who he was she goes yeah and so they they ride and they they have the scene around the world they're able to see the whole world because she trusted him there are many things in the christian life you will not see unless you trust god in fact this whole chapter chapter 11 is a lesson on faith it's a lesson on trusting god and the key of course is he had just given the fourth warning in which he tells them that the key to endurance is faith he says in verse 36 let's just get a running start into our passage of chapter 10. he says for you have need of endurance so that when you have done the will of god you may receive what is promised for yet a little while and the coming one will come and will not delay now notice what he says twice in verse 38 but my righteous one shall live by faith and if he shrinks away my soul has no pleasure in him verse 39 but we are not of those who shrink back and are destroyed but those who have faith and preserve their souls the key to perseverance is faith if you want to keep on going through difficult times and not give up and not throw in the towel then you need to trust god do you trust god this passage three questions about faith that we we want to answer first of all what does faith see secondly why is faith important and third how do you live by faith what does fate see we'll look at the perspective of faith why is faith important we will look at the priority of faith and how do you live by faith we will look at the practice of faith so first of all we look at the perspective of faith the author describes the perspective of a person who has faith verse 1 now faith is the assurance of things hoped for the conviction of things not seen faith in god assures us that his promises are true faith gives us the confidence in the reality of what god has promised in scriptures now what are some examples of those promises again going back to chapter 10 there are two one is a better possession secondly jesus returned so he says in verse 34 for you had compassion in those in prison and you joyfully accepted the plundering of your property since you knew that you yourselves had a better possession and end up biting one so he says i'm not minimizing your loss i know you've lost a great deal in your suffering because whatever it is that you've lost understand that what you have in the future is not only better it lasts forever because it says an an abiding one that's why you were able to go through it because of this promise of a better possession what's the second promise the second promise is that jesus will return just for yet a little while and the coming one will come and will not delay so not only is our possession better but when jesus comes back he will straighten everything out in other words he will vindicate you for your faith in him all those people that mocked you all those people that made fun of you all those people that put you down when jesus returns you know what they will say hey he was right he was right so here we understand that through eyes of faith we're able to see that god's promises are real that god's promises are fact they're a done deal faith is not simply believing that god can keep his promises but that god will keep his promises and so even though we have not seen a better procession even though we have not seen the return of jesus christ through faith we are able to see them as if as if they already are or they're already here that it's already happened i remember my dad preaching when he talking about faith i i can't forget this quote he says faith is seeing the invisible hearing the inaudible feeling the impalpable believing the impossible they go yay preach it that [Laughter] that good you want to hear it again okay faith is seeing the invisible hearing the inaudible feeling the impalpable and believing the impossible amen so through eyes of faith we see the things that are not yet seen now the world always goes by a different standard or a different philosophy because the the philosophy of the world is to see is to believe but jesus when he was here on earth reversed it he says jesus said to her did i not tell you that if you believe you will see the glory of god so the world says to see us to believe jesus says if it is when you believe that you that you see that is when you trust him that you're able to see the glory of god and there are certain things that you will miss out on there are certain things that you will never comprehend unless you trust god and you believe in god thrice of faith we see the invisible and it's important because faith receives god's approval in verse 2 there's a word that's repeated five times in in this chapter and it's the word commendation says for by it the people of old receive their commendation or they receive their approval faith is the means whereby men and women in the past gained god's approval god's pleasure god was happy with them and so in this chapter we will see example after example of heroes of the faith those who brought approval or those who who receive approval because of their faith in god and the and the lesson is and the encouragement is what they did to get approval it's the same thing that we do now to receive approval or to receive commendation what is it it is faith faith is commended by god faith was the key then it is the key in the time of the hebrew christians the who the author was writing to and it's it's the key now you want god to be happy with you you want god to be pleased with you then it says it is through faith faith sees and believes the promises of god faith receives god's approval verse 3 faith believes in god as creator faith believes in god as creator oh by the way just a quote from walter elwell he says it is comforting to be reminded that the temptations one faces are neither unique nor even as severe as others have courageously endured and the stirring examples of faith under trial will strengthen one's determination to be equally worthy of god's approval so example after example of people who were approved because of their faith and we will look at that in the next two weeks and we'll divide chapter 11 into three parts because there's so much here but faith believes in god as creator verse 3 it says by faith we understand that the universe was created by the word of god so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible by faith we understand that god created the world the universe out of the word of his mouth at his word the world was created and he created it from nothing you know people today they they they create stuff but really they don't create stuff from nothing if you are an inventor you don't invent just by going poof and it appears you use existing material i had had an uncle was a genius he he has several patents under his name and he he would create in fact one time one of one of the things that made him a lot of money was he he created this wire hanger from uh for morocco which is the electric company in the in the philippines and when he created the model of it he was so poor he just used the mud from his backyard he just watered he didn't have he didn't have money for clay but he designed it and it became his bread and brother butter throughout his life but the point is you don't just create out of nothing he needed something when god created he didn't need anything he just spoke and the world the universe came into existence that's why he says was created by the word of god so that what is seen was not made out of things that are visible now why does why does this author put in the middle of this chapter on faith god is greater but what's the what's the connection what's he trying to say this is what he's trying to say it is important to understand that god created out of nothing because when you understand god's power when you understand god's sovereignty then there's no problem that's too big for him to handle god is greater than god who is creator is greater than any problems you and i might have amen that's the point that because god created nothing is too difficult for him he's bigger than whatever trials whatever difficulties whatever it is that we're going through why is that because god is creator and we understand that by faith now realize that when he says that we that we understand that by faith that it's not a leap in the dark that the christian faith is reasonable sometimes people will make this false dichotomy oh it's either you have faith or you believe in science what they don't understand is that both world views whether it's theistic or atheistic requires faith give you an example when you ask people who don't believe in god how did the universe start they would say what the big the big bang you ask them what happened before that this is a big bang well the universe is expanding and had a starting point who started it how did it start see it takes faith to believe that something came from nothing it takes faith to believe that life came from rocks a smart as scientists are they've never created life and they will never create life why because god is the author of life scientists can kill they can't create life so to believe that something organic came from something inorganic to believe that hydrogen over billions of years becomes a human being that takes faith what else it takes faith to believe that order come came from this order so there was a big bang so that out of that chaos how does order come for example the amazing design of life can't just happen without a designer and to believe that it takes faith i was reading an article dna storage is about to go viral it says the information density of dna is remarkable just one gram can store 215 petabytes or 215 million gigabytes of data for context the average hard drive in a laptop can house just one millionth of that amount so imagine all the information the blueprint for you and for me all of that all that information it just happened by chance randomly without a designer that takes faith that's like saying that there was an explosion in the printing press and out came a set of encyclopedia that takes faith and so to say that it's either science of faith no both world views require faith i choose to believe that in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth why do i believe that because jesus believed it matthew 19 4 he answered have you not read that he who what created them from the beginning made them male and female so why do you believe in jesus what sets jesus apart from any teacher or religious leader in the world what is it the resurrection the resurrection why do i believe in creation because jesus believed in creation why do i believe in jesus because he rose from the dead and so it's not just faith or science both require faith but the bible says the fool says in his heart there is no god romans says professing themselves to be wise they became fools and so the choice is not faith or science the choice is who do you want to believe you want to believe jesus or you want to believe fools that's the choice and so yes we need to believe by faith that the universe was created by the word of god and if god could create from nothing he can take care of your problems secondly we see the priority of faith not only the perspective what does faith see we see the priority why is it important because you see faith is not optional in the christian life it is mandatory faith is required faith is essential you cannot do without it if you want to please god in verse 6 it says without faith it is impossible to please him it doesn't say without faith it is difficult to please him it says without faith it is what impossible what does that mean it means outside of faith nothing is pleasing to god any activity done on our own strength is displeasing to god he is not happy when we leave him out of the picture he is not satisfied unless we depend on him for everything that we do gives a couple of examples one is the example of abel because by faith abel offered to god a more acceptable sacrifice than cain through which he was commended as righteous god commanding him by accepting his gifts and through his faith though he died he still speaks there's a lot there let me just break it down a little bit the story of abel and cain is the first the first instance of worship in the bible they were both in an act of worship and sacrificing and one was acceptable to god and the other was not i used to think that the reason able sacrifice was acceptable because because it was because it was a blood sacrifice and cain offered plants but actually god told moses to have a grain sacrifice so that wasn't it according to hebrews according to our passage the reason is because abel had faith and cain did not able when he worshipped worship from a heart that is that that is believes in god and so he offered his vest and he lived a life of righteousness cain on the other lived the life of unrighteousness and when he sacrificed to god it was it was just a checklist it was a mediocre sacrifice that came from a heart that really didn't believe god and so that means that religious activities apart from faith is not pleasing to the lord so two people could be doing the same thing two people could be teaching sunday school serving the same god it's not that cain worship an idol he served the true god he was sacrificing to the true god so two sunday school teachers involved in the same activity with the same kids two singers and you could even be singing the same song in worship team two preachers preaching the same message but one is pleasing to god and one is displeasing to god what's the difference faith do we do things in dependence on god are we trusting god with the things that we're doing and what i like about this is is really the last part to me is what's encouraging he says and through his faith though he died he still speaks what does that tell you it tells you that faith is not instantly rewarded in fact after he sacrificed what happened he was murdered i mean what kind of reward is that but what it tells you is that god rewards your faith not just in this life but in the life to come and to me what's most encouraging is the impact that abel has in the generations to come including today he says though he died he still he still speaks let me ask you will your life still speaks speak long after you're dead what will people say about your faith will they be encouraged by your life to live a christian life how would they quickly forget you so here you find that though he's dead he still speaks then he in in verse 5 another example is enoch the example of abel the example of enoch is and enoch is an interesting guy by the way we don't know much about him but according to to this passage just by faith enoch was taken up so that he should not see death and he was not found because god had taken him now before he was taken he was commended here's the word again the word command as i told you is repeated five times in hebrews as having pleased god you know what genesis says about enoch it says enoch walked with god and he was not for god took him very simple verse a profound now here is a man who who walked with god and in in the bible when it talks about walking with god it implies two things one fellowship you walk with god but walking with god also implies obedience not just walking and fellowshipping but the reason you're able to walk with god is that you're ordering your life according to god's will you're walking with him you're obeying him and god was so pleased that one day he just said you know what let's just skip death come on up isn't that great how many would like to be enoch like enoch right never never having died do you know that there's a generation of christians who will experience what enoch experience when jesus comes he will take the church and there will be a generation of christians that will never die how would you like to be that generation i know i would amen right but here enoch gave an example of one who was pleasing to god because he walked with god and then verse six of course he talks about the priority of faith to a god who's a who's a present god and god who is rewarded let's read verse six together and without faith it is impossible to please him for whoever would draw near to god must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him without faith it is not difficult it is impossible to please him and so as you as you approach god there are two things that you need to understand about god just like when you look at pictures now and you have on your iphone how do you enlarge it you pinch it right you go and you see a bigger picture that's kind of like what he does he gives you he zooms in on god and there's two two characteristics of god that he talks about first of all the fact that he exists that he is present in our daily lives without faith is impossible to please him for whoever would draw near to god must believe that he exists that he exists that means when you face those seemingly insurmountable problems he is there when someone in the family gets sick he's there when your checking account plunges below zero he is there when you struggle with those sins that habitually entangles you he is there when you cry alone at night because you're lonely and no one seems to understand he is there god does not sneak in and out of your life he does not exist out there he is here the psalmist says he is a present help in time of trouble he is present in your life he is present in my life and he has perfect attendance god exists in our daily life it's the first thing he does secondly he zooms in on the fact that god is a rewarder he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him the word rewarder literally is one who pays wages and so those who have faith in god gets a paycheck the only job requirement is what that you fully depend on him i used to think that uh working for rewards is wrong you know because hey i don't deserve anything my motive motivation should be one of love but after i did the series on rewards and as we've been going through the book of hebrews i i began to understand that yes love is the primary motivation i i i do the things i do because i love god but the god i love promises to reward us in other words reward is not it's only a motivation it is not the motivation but it's still a motivation and it's not contrary to grace why is that because my work doesn't obligate god god obligated himself to reward us you know we deserve nothing but it is god who says i want to reward you and one of the ways that one of the things that motivates us to keep on going is god's saying believe me do you trust me that i will reward you for everything that you've done and it's grace because his reward is far is so far out of proportion to my work in other words i get eternal pay for temporal work how's that and so that means i really didn't earn it and furthermore all that i do everything that you accomplish for god it's because of god's salvation god's strength god's spiritual gifts open doors that he gives for you and so being rewarded is not my primary motivation but nevertheless god promised and it is a motivation to remain faithful that's why the hebrew writers include included it and god is looking for those who would diligently seek him in other words at all times he rewards those it just says here seek him but that word is an intense word in the original it's a compound word and it requires diligence it's it's intense and it's a continual seeking of god so that means during easy time and hard times we need to to trust god now during russia rush during the rush for deadlines and during slow times at work we trust god if you're a student both during quizzes and finals because what's the tendency sometimes ah just a final you know i mean just it's just a quiz it just counts for five percent so you don't even pray about it but when it's final time it's fifty percent of graduate lord please help me i need to pass this class right but during easy times and hard times during ordinary times and extraordinary times let me give you another example when do you pray before a trip before you go cross country before you go safeway when do you usually pray huh usually long distance right you're going to la oh let's family okay let's pray okay spray god save us keep us safe but do you know that statistically most accidents occur within five miles of your home you know that somebody heard that and he moved that's a joke but when do you pray so what he's saying is pray at all times pray in all things whether big or small diligently seek him finally we see the practice of faith the practice of faith in verse 7 we have the example of noah and we could preach a whole message you know but let me just highlight some of the things by faith being warned by god concerning events as yet unseen what was unseen well one of the things that's unseen is rain did you know that because back then there was a canopy that covered earth the earth atmosphere was very different it says in god made the expanse and separate the waters that were under the expanse from the waters that were above the expanse and it was so furthermore in in chapter 2 verse 6 notice how god watered the earth got how god watered the plants this and the mist was going up from the land and was watering the whole face of the ground so before that abraham hasn't seen rain i mean i'm sorry noah hasn't seen rain that's why the promise is what a rainbow what do you need for a rainbow rain he had never seen it before of course if you haven't seen rain then you haven't seen what blood you haven't seen a boat that big and yet it says in our text being warned by god concerning events that she had unseen in reverent fear constructed an ark why did noah obey because he had a reverential awe of god and the text says that he did all that god commanded and that's why we get hung up don't we as christians it's easy to it's easy to obey some and some obey most but very few christians obey all why did he obey because of faith you see the opposite of faith is not unbelief the opposite of faith is disobedience if you believe god you will obey him that's why he says by this he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith so he whatever the consequence what happened he saved his family his family was physically saved god was not just giving him busy work it was first good what else he condemned the world it is his obedience there was a sharp contrast to this this obedience of the world the world was so disobedient that this just their lifestyle was just normal so noah obeying god for 120 years was like a silent message to the world this is the life of one who obeys god and he condemned the world but what else he became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith habakkuk three times says or the the quote from habakkuk is repeated three times the just that lived by faith it's repeated in romans galatians is repeated in hebrews and it tells us that the way to become righteous to become right with god is not through my good works but through what through my belief through my faith it is not how you behave that gets you to heaven it is what you believe and you need to believe that jesus died for you that he rose again the third day and that by believing in him you can have eternal life so it's a righteousness that comes not by works but by faith then he gives of course the example of abraham abraham demonstrated his faith by his by his by following god and being faithful to him verse 8 it says by faith abraham obeyed when he was called to go out to a place and he to us to receive as an inheritance you know we did a series on the life of abraham and i was telling you when god called them out of ur chaldea that place was a happening place he had he had the ziggurats yeah it was the height of of literature and art god calls him from that place and he didn't give him brochures he didn't give him travel packets to show points of interest in canaan in fact it says and he went out what not knowing where he was going i mean this blows my mind that abraham went why because he knew god and god knew where he was going so it's okay not to know the details as long as you're going in the right direction when god says go you go when god says get up you get up when god says when god tells you to do something you might not know all the details but you need to obey why because it is obedience to god it is faith in god's goodness and god's wisdom and god's direction that is rewarded by him and notice he didn't get the the promise right away he says the inheritance to receive that inheritance it didn't come in his lifetime in fact it didn't come in his children's lifetime in his grandchildren's lifetime there were three generations that's mentioned here by faith he went out to live in the land of promise in a foreign land living in tents with isaac and jacob do you know that abraham didn't own any land except for the land that he bought the cave for the for the burial of his wife sarah and for three generations they live in tents and they were able to live in tents and kept faithfully following god why because they knew that they were heirs of the same promise and in verse 10 it says for he was looking forward to the city that has foundation whose designer and builder is god abraham knew all along that the promises wasn't just the material things here on earth there was something greater that he was looking forward to he was looking for the new jerusalem whose designer and builder is god and so all the time he was there he lived as a foreigner he lived as an alien and many times i think we make the mistake of making ourselves too comfortable here on this earth we begin to think that this is our home we get too enamored with things that have temporal value and we need to understand that abraham was willing to give everything up why because he saw he saw the promise of god he saw the inheritance that he had and even though he didn't see it in this lifetime he continued to believe that which is unseen again from evangelical commentary abraham's obedient faith and perseverance remind us that faith must withstand not only the waiting until the promises is fulfilled but appearances that seem directly to contradict the believer's hope see there are times when it seems like god what are you doing but one of my mom's favorite quote is this never doubt in darkness what god has revealed in the light never doubt in darkness what god has revealed in the light that abraham's perseverance reminds us that there will be times when it would seem like god is silent there are times when it seems like god is not present but it is faith that continues to to believe that he is present it is faith that continues to believe that he knows what he's doing that will one day reward us for our faithfulness that's faith i end with the story um florence may chadwick was a long-distance swimmer and she would do incredible things and one of the one of the swims that she made was from catalina to the california coast that is if you take a fast boat which we did last year it takes an hour to get to catalina she swam it but the first shamsie tried it in 1952 she was she took off from from catalina and after 15 hours fogg set in now of course she was surrounded by boats there were boats there who would you know if there were any sharks or if she got in trouble they would pull her in but 15 hours into the swim fog set in and she couldn't see the coastline and she began to her her strength begins to waver and she told her mom who was in one of the boat i don't think i could make it and after an hour more of swimming the boats finally took her and she you know she waved the flag and they took her in and the mom said do you know you're only a mile away from the coast so two months later she tried it again and this time again in the middle of her swim the the fog comes rolling in and she couldn't see the shoreline but she said what kept her going was the picture of the shoreline in her head and she not only made it she did it two more times in her lifetime when you're living the christian life and the fog of problems and doubts and trials and tribulation begin to come in continue to see the shoreline continue to see god continue to see his reward and hear his voice of good and faithful servant in our text we see our perspective of faith the perspective of faith you're able to see the invisible we see the priority of faith faith is essential it is not optional and we see the practice of faith from the life of enoch from the life of abraham from the life of abel and from the life of noah abel demonstrated his faith in worship enoch demonstrated his faith in his walk noah demonstrated his faith in his work and abraham demonstrated his faith while waiting for the promise of god whenever god calls us to a life of faith there are always elements of the unseen the unknown the unbelievable but understand that our god is the god of the impossible he's able to keep what he has promised to those who dare to believe and temporary setbacks and delays are not a sign of weakness on god's part but are intentionally woven into his plan to strengthen our faith in him let's focus on him let us fear him and let us follow him let's it pray has bought and all eyes closed today you've come and you've never asked jesus to be your lord and savior the bible says believe on the lord jesus christ and you will be saved it is our faith in god and not our good works that saves us so if you're here this morning or if you're listening online if you've never asked jesus to save you to come into your heart i want to give you an opportunity to do that right now in the quietness of your heart and say dear lord jesus i need you i believe you died on the cross for my sins was buried in the third day rose again i hear enough with my faith and you alone as my lord and as my savior come into my heart and save me thank you for your gift of eternal life father i thank you for anyone who's prayed that prayer and pray father that you would help them to grow in their life of faith in you if you are a believer but you find yourself wavering in your walk you find yourself doubting i want to give you this opportunity just to come back to god and believe that he exists and that he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek him if you've been trying to live your life on your own then would you just confess that before the lord and and just say lord forgive me forgive me for doing things on my own help me father to trust you in all things at all times whether big or small lord help me to live a life of faith and to follow you father thank you so much for your love for us and i pray father that you would just continue to work in all our lives i pray father that as we partake of communion that you would just remind us of what it costs to save us remind us of your great love for us remind us that he who spared not his son but delivered him up for us all how will he not along with him also freely give us all thanks we love you lord we pray these things in jesus name amen so at this time i want to partake of of communion if you have the elements i just open it open the the first part if you're at home i'll go ahead and gather the elements and give it out to your family first corinthians 11 23 says if i receive from the lord but i also delivered to you the lord jesus on the night he was betrayed took bread and when he had given thanks he broke it and said this is my body which is for you do this in remembrance of me at this time you could open the the top part or the bottom part and first corinthians 11 25 it says in the same way also he took the cup after supper saying this cup is a new covenant in my blood do this as often as you drink it in remembrance of me for as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup you proclaim the lord's death until he comes father we thank you so much for visible and tangible tangible remembrances of what you've done for us through your son we thank you that his blood cleanses us from all sin thank you lord that it is his death on the cross that sets us free from bondage and that he who has the son is free indeed so we thank you on this july fourth weekend that we could celebrate not only freedom in this country but especially lord freedom from the bondage of sin and death we love you lord we pray these things in jesus name amen amen so glad that you were able to join us online i hope and pray that you were blessed by the preaching of god's word if you would like to help support our ministry
