Hi, everybody! Hey! Welcome, welcome, welcome, welcome. In this edition of "Everything Is Content," we, me and Liam, are going to be playing the UniVersus card game to answer that age-old question, "Who would win in a fight?" For those who aren't familiar, UniVersus is an arcade fighting game reimagined into a trading card game. You can choose from characters like Deku from "Hero Academia" or Yusuke from "YuYu Hakusho" or Spike from "Cowboy Bebop." Liam: Big fan! Yeah. You can choose any of these characters, have them fight it out and see who actually is the winner, and today we get to play with the new Critical Role Challenger Series. The Challenger Series includes 60-card pre-constructed decks ready to play right out of the box. Each box also contains a Collector's Booster Pack with six stunning alt arts. Each Critical Role-based card has a foil or alt art variant only found in Collector's Boosters. You can also grab new Critical Role Playmats, which we're using today, and sleeves will be coming along shortly. Matt: It's so pretty. Liam: Soon. Oh my goodness. Plus, with the release of the Critical Role Challenger Series, there will also be a special in-store PvP event, sorry, PvE event specifically. PvP event is how the game is played. Liam: I want to PvP you! Except for this particular time, in which you will be fighting against a co-op adventure of the Briarwoods. You would be taking them out. And they deserve it, so please do. You can visit uvsgames.com/criticalrole for more information about all this coolness. So head to your local game store near you today to find the Critical Role Challenger Series, these cool packets they have and everything, which is delightful. And be sure to ask about the Briarwoods Co-op Adventure so you can go ahead and face down with them. So a big thank you to the UniVersus team for sponsoring this stream together with us, and let's open one of these. Do we get to open into these boxes? This is Christmas. It is like... Oh, I was just going to say the same thing. This is Christmas for me. It's so cool to play this card game. There we go. Oh! Everything Is Content. I can't get it. Oh, that's so cute. Liam: I don't want to mar the box. Oh my god. Even the packaging internally is incredible. Ah! Okay. So it comes with the Challenger Series thing, and it comes with the deck. Liam: Collector's Pack? Is that it? For those who aren't familiar, one of them is Vex and Vax. Mm-hmm. Of Vox Machina. The other is Jester and Nott of the Mighty Nein. I feel like the little kids around the Christmas tree in "A Christmas Story." That is the Jester and Nott deck with the interchangeable character cards and builds for that, which is awesome. We're gonna open the Collector's Booster Pack. as part of this scenario. Liam: I don't wanna mar the box! But I'm going to. Do it! Okay. Matt: Embrace your dark side. Oh, it's been so cool to see the art come together for these sets and then to see them on the decks here in person. These are really cool giant character cards. They're not actual size, though I would love to have a deck that plays like this. Even the space holder is cool! It says, "Dagger, dagger, dagger." And then it says, "We don't do anything with dignity." Aw! On the other side. This one has Nott and it says, "You can reply to this message." And then Jester is, "Hello, bees." It's so cute. Ah, okay! We got the collector's pack. Yup. There's the shiny twin, twin. There's Vax right there. All right, here we go. The box is going down. I opened the corner, but I haven't actually looked in yet because I was waiting on you, because you took forever to get through your box. Yes I did, but there's so much... (chuckling) All right, I'm doing it. All right, ready. Here I go, just a little tear spot. Ready? Ready, go. One, two, three. Go! Ah! There it is. Woo! Oh, shiny. Whoa! Mischievous Doodler. I got a super foil Piercing Dagger Strike. Just like his eyes. Venture Forth From Syngorn, I got. I got the twins leaving home. And Fiery Dagger Flourish. Nice, got a Dragon Lore Expert over here as well as Trickster's Blessing with the Jester-Nott deck. I got mostly twin cards, but I got one Jester card. Matt: Oh, fantastic! Mischievous Doodler. I got a Trinket. I got a Tinkerer's Bolt foil, as well as a Flaming Arrow. There's Jester and then here come the twins. Ka pow! Ka pang! Swing! Huah! Phoof! So pretty. They're gorgeous. And the shine on them is just killer. Killer, killer, killer. The art for all of this blows me away. It's so freaking good. The thing about this game we're about to play is I got to take some cards home with me and I played with my son. And my son is a demon. Games, mechanics, and math demon. And we played a lot of, well, like seven or eight games of this. And you just played a skoosh with me and a bunch of people from CR a while back. But I've played more games than you. But you have such a brain for game mechanics, that I feel like, I might have a fighting chance today. Absolutely not true, but we'll see. Liam: More than me. I, at the very least, I can win with dignity. Oh, I can't do that. Then good, we'll be fine. Look, it's right here. We don't do anything with dignity. With dignity. Yeah, we'll leave it right there as a reminder. So, I'm playing the Jester Lavorre deck. This is the Jester-Nott deck, but I'm playing as the Jester Lavorre character card and each of the character cards, both Jester and Nott, as well as Vex and Vax have their own unique abilities and statistics that change the way the deck plays in certain ways. Right. I will be doing my specific half-elf Vax'ildan. But when you play with the deck, like I'll be playing this twin deck, it's full of Vex and Vax, and this deck is full of Jester and Nott. So you have to know how the whole deck works, but you do get a little bit of a flavor from your individual character you play as. Indeed. All right. All right, I'm shuffled. I'm shuffled. Let's do this. Nervously shuffle the bunch. Each player gets a certain sized hand of cards. Mine's seven. One, two, three, four. Mine is six, which is not quite as speedy. I don't need to be. Matthew, would you like to go first? I would love to go first, why not? Okay, organizing my cards here. Ah! Stop making noises, you're making me nervous. That's cool. Oh, a zeppelin, that's mine. (chuckling) Okay, so I'm going first. We have our health counters here. I have 31 health and you have 22. Which is very on point for chonker that is Jester and the stringy string bean that is Vax'ildan. Indeed. Alrighty. So for my turn, so you start with the full hand. I'm gonna go ahead and first put down my first foundation here. Mischievous Doodler. That's a two cost, so I'm gonna mill to see if I can pay the cost. With a four that succeeds. So now I have that out to play. You know what, I'll put out... I probably should have done this in a different order, but that's okay, I'm learning as I go. Button Collector. Which is for my three and four together. So I'm gonna mill to see if I can pay for that. A five, that succeeds. Heck yeah. And then I'm gonna finish up with doing, Playing Pranks. Take it to the limit. Total cost of four. And a five, that succeeds. Ugh! Lucky! So, I got those three foundations down. I... think that ends my first turn. All right. These go into my stage. Right, I'll try to do the same thing and get them in the order that I want to play them in. I will play Prank War. Which I know will succeed, because it's just a cost of two and that's a three, so it succeeds. And then we will do A Trinket for Vex, which is a two plus one is a three, so that's also going to succeed. Now is when we start to gamble a little bit. I'll play Flirting and Flattery, Sean. Oo! So, that's going to work as well. That's not gambling. You've got beautiful men and their cards. So this is the one that I don't know if it'll work. One plus three is four. So it needs to be a four or higher. It's not, I don't get it. That's the end for me. So then these come down on my stage and A Mother's Embrace goes away. Perfect, all right. Then it comes to my go. I'm gonna go ahead and draw up to my hand max of six as Jester. Okay, okay, interesting. Let's go ahead and do... Maybe Unbreakable Cheer for two. Paid for three, that works. Still building. I will also put down a Mischievous Doodler, again. So I doodle twice. At a cost of three, let's mill to see if I get there. I do on a five. And then... Hm. Let's go ahead and throw down a Sniping Bolt, first attack being thrown down. Ah! Let's see if I can make this work. At a cost of five, which is exactly what it needs. Dang! Just three plus two. You're going right for it? Yep, I'm going right for there. So you have a, it's a two speed? Two mid. Mid speed. With three damage. If your rival has not taken damage this turn, which you have not, this attack gets plus one speed and plus one damage for each card in your, each attack in your card pool. I have no other attacks in my card pool. So we're opening this with a quick little volley. So is it other cards, or does it include that card? It's supposed to be for each attack in your card pool. Technically it is... So this is in your card pool. So this is in it, so yeah. So we'll say it's a... It's a three speed, four damage. So three mid. I believe that's correct. And then that's not, you haven't enhanced yet. So if you have enhances the Jester can do. Correct. Let's see here. You can kick that off. I will... No, I've got the, but actually, no, I will enhance. No, I'm good. I'm good. I got nothing to do right now. So you pass to me. I don't have an enhance that is beneficial to me at the moment. So I pass as well, which means we now resolve the bolt in my butt that Nott is sending. So that's three speed? Nobody's enhanced on either side, so it's three speed, four damage. Okay, and that's mid. Uh, yeah, mid attack. Okay, so here's the deal. I don't have mid. But I have low, the yellow color. So, I'm gonna block with that. So if I succeed with a block, I'm gonna take half damage. Right. So that is a one. From this little shieldy guy here. Plus the three, so four. Four speed. So I have to check with a four. Yep. I do not, it's a three. Which means I can still pull it off, but I need to commit one of these cards to make that cost. Correct. So, I do block, it's half damage. The damage is four, so I take two. Ow. All right. Ow. First blood. Alrighty. So that finishes that one, and I think that's it for my turn then. All right. So because this attack... Liam: Did damage. It did damage to you, so this goes into my momentum. And these both come down into my stage. And that concludes my turn, you're up. That is right, now you're committed. Uh, okay. What ya got, fast half-elf boy? That stays blocked, so that goes down. Well first, I'm gonna just draw some cards. Two, three, four. Five. Six. Seven. Matt: That's the card you used to... This guy goes, this blocks. Matt: So that goes into the discard, right? Discard. I'm just trying to make sure I'm getting it all together. You got it, you got it. We're pretty new at the game. We're getting the hang of it. Oh man, all right. Let me see what I got here. Throw those over there. What do I wanna start with? Sorry, I'm so dumb at the beginning of mine. So that's readied, readied, readied. And. (clicking tongue) How cocky do I want to get? Probably not that cocky. I'm gonna go with this to start. I'm gonna use my sister Vex'ahlia with Flaming Arrow. Oo! Now I could spend momentum if I had it, but I have none. So I'm just starting with her as is. So she's down and for my first enhance, I will use Vax'ildan, Cunning Thief's enhance. Your ranged or weapon attack gets plus three speed. So it's a five speed now, plus three gets us to eight total. Ho, okay! Big speed, he's quick. Yeah. Yes, so that's a five, it definitely works. All right. That's it. I keep forgetting to check, which is of course, the whole mechanic of the game. Whole mechanic of the game, that's okay. So five plus three is eight. Damage is the same, that's my enhance, over to you if you have any enhancing you'd like to do. All right. Ah, ha, ha. ♪ Ha, ha, ha♪ I don't... I don't think I got it. Actually, maybe not. I have this thing that is, it is middle ground? It's mid, yes. It's mid. Ah, I do not have mid. This is problem for me. Well, we're still enhancing right now, so we both have to pass before you go for the block. I know, I'm saying I don't have anything to possibly enhance. My enhancing is done, go ahead. All right. I... Let me think. Just for funsies, I'm going to use Mark Your Prey. Let me know if I can do this. I think I can, three. But I have to check. So three plus one is four. So I have to pull a four or higher. It's a five, it's out. Great. I will use that enhance. Your attack, when I attack, I believe that means, your rival flips one foundation. But it says your attack, so I think that's when the attack goes. Yes, that's how it works. Okay. Pretty sure that's how it works. So that's my next enhance. Alrighty. So that's my enhance, you said you didn't have anything else you wanted to do. Yep. So what happens now? I think you pick one of your foundations now to flip. So you're gonna lose it. You can still use it for checks and stuff, you're gonna lose the ability. I'll go ahead and flip one of my Mischievous Doodlers. Right, so I pass. And I think you would pass. Yup. All right, so now we're going through with an eight, mid-level speed, three damage. Three damage? Mm-hm. Yeah, I mean that's just what I'm gonna have to take. Just gonna take it? I'm just gonna take it. So three damage to me? Yes. Oo, ah, ah! Ah! So we've got Flaming arrow. Oo, it hurts! Mark Your Prey. I think I've done enough attacking now and I'm going to bring out A Trinket for Vex. So that is two plus two is four. I have to get to check. Doesn't make it, so I will flip Prank War to keep it. (grunting) I'm gonna risk it. I like risk. That's a one plus three is four. Check, I get it. Then. I'm done playing cards, but here on Flirting and Flattery. Yes? It says response, flip. After your end phase begins, draw one card. If you played one or more attacks this turn, discard a card. So I played one attack. So I draw a card. I'm gonna get rid of something I don't want. So that goes down. Alrighty. Now my end phase continues. This did damage. Matt: So that becomes momentum. It becomes momentum. This goes away and these come down to join the party down here. So, I will do that so I can remember this guy here. Perfect. That's committed. There we are. My turn? Yes. Okay. Draw back up to... ♪ Six cards♪ Oh, interesting. Okay. I wouldn't mind seeing a game of cards between Jester and Nott on one side of a table and the twins on the other. That'd be awesome actually. Yeah, that's the dynamic. Interesting. I feel whenever we're at a table like this and there's just the sets on the peripheral, it feels like we're in the afterlife. Matt: It really is, this is odd. I choose to believe we're in the afterlife. (laughs) Look, I think we've been there for a while. Liam: Yeah. Okay. I will start with... Hm. (laughs) Yeah. I'm going to start with a Big Freakin' Explosion! Dang. Let's fluffernutter this shit. It's a five cost. That's four. So I have to commit something to do it. I'll go ahead and commit my Unbreakable Cheer. You do you. You could commit the one that you've flipped over, because-- Oh that's true. You're right. You don't lose an ability. I forgot I did that. Yeah. No, you're right, I'll do that. Big Freakin' Explosion. Yeah, that's a five speed top, a five damage. Five speed, five damage. You have an opportunity to enhance first or I get an opportunity to enhance first? You always. Attacker always enhances first. Okay, okay. Okay. No. I think... Shoot, I forgot to do something on my turn. Oh well. Too bad. Too bad, so sad. That's how you learn. That's how you learn. (sighs) Alrighty. Yeah, I don't think I have anything I can do here. Okay, so five, five, five up? Correct. Five fast? Five quick. Okay. Vex. All right. Why not? All right, I'm going to block with Vex'ahlia's Flaming Arrow, so your speed is five up. Oh, and that's up as well. So six. Correct. So if I'm really lucky, I'll get a six. If I'm unlucky, I'll get a three. It's a five. Could have been worse. Okay. I will commit one of my Trinkets for Vex, so that blocks, and it is the same color, so that is a full block. No damage. Oh, I could enhance on that, I totally forgot. That's on me. I forgot to use that ability. That's the whole point of it. There's a lot of stuff on these cards. Aw, what a waste. That's the cool thing about it. All right, well, that's on me. If I get another one, I'll get a chance to use it. This is your first time playing with Jester and Nott, yeah? Correct. So I'm figuring it out as I go. Let me see, I'm gonna look at it. Yeah, it has an Enhance Ability on the actual card. I was looking in other areas for enhances. That's my first time I've ever used that, so now I know for next time it comes around. All right, so nothing happens. It gets blocked successfully. No damage. Okay. I will throw down for a Hand-Axe Swing. Damn it, Bobby. That's a three for a cost of six, which isn't great. I can do one, two, three. That brings it to a full cost there for you. So that's another five up five damage coming your way. Five damage, okay. Big ol' beefy Jester axe coming your way. That'll be full damage. What you got, what you got, fast boy? Not much, not much. I'm going to go for the half block. So this is two. Mm-hmm. Plus your five is seven. Do I want to do that? No, I don't think I actually do want to do that. I think I want to just take it. Sure, yeah. Think I just wanna take it. Take it, five damage. Ooh, ooh. Right into the shoulder. Didn't take. (pants) (chuckles) All right. Then I'm going to put down... All right, that finishes that. Spreading The Word. That's a two, three, four cost at a six total. So yeah, that goes in fine. Mm-hmm. Which is great. Alrighty. I think that's going to end my go. Okay. So end of my turn, this comes down to the stage, this goes into the momentum, and this was blocked so this just goes in the discard. Okay. So over to me. I lose effects who block. "Have you heard of The Traveler? He's pretty great." Ready, ready. These are all ready. And I'll refill my hand. One, three, four, five, six, seven. Hold on, let's see what I've come away with here. Yikes. Doink, doink, doink, doink, doink, doink, ooh! All right. I don't like how low I am on things to do, so I'm actually going to just recuperate my stage. We'll start with Venture Forth from Syngorn. Okay. Great eateries, but there are really-- (laughs) A lot of dicks there. So three, that's going to be easy. That's a six wasted on a three! Great. That's how it rolls, man. Okay, then I'm going to bring out big Trinket! Big, oh! Card just says Trinket, it doesn't say big Trinket. But Trinket is big, so it works out fine. Big Trinket. (groans) That's going to work 'cause that's a two plus one is three. Alrighty. Five. All right, now we get dicey. I'll bring out Prank War. Okay. I need a four. It's a five, I get it. Great. Bring out Elvish Tutoring. Just throwing down the foundations over here. Liquid U, yes. Tutoring, two. There's five, come on. Yes! One more time! Come on, keep playing those slots. One plus four is five, come on! Four. I'll take it. (laughs) Five. All right, I'm ending my turn there. So put that over there, and then everybody comes down to play. You go there, you can go with this other Prank War. Trinket can go at my right hand side as well as the twins and Venture Forth from Syngorn. That is the end of my turn. Over to you. Great. Jester and Nott. Perfect. Draw up to. Alrighty. Oh! Perfect. All right, beginning of my turn, I'm going to throw down another Big Freakin' Explosion and try and do this right. Let's see if I can pay for it here at a, oh, it's a three. So four. Five. Okay. To pay for that. So that's a five high, five damage coming at you. Okay, okay. Do you have-- I'm going to enhance. Yeah. I can spend one momentum to mill three. Liam: Okay. So one, two, three, okay. So at least one attack. It gets plus one damage for each attack card that I discard. Okay. This card gets plus one damage for each attack in your discard pile. Oh, I see. Plus one damage for each attack in your discard pile? Yes. That's insane! Not lying to you. If I milled three attacks this way, is that correct, I think? Is that correct? (laughing) I mean, it seems in line with Jester and Nott. Says if you milled three attacks this way. Maybe the gods will tell us. You lose health equal to half its attacks damage. So I take damage too if it's... It says if-- So you only get hurt if all three are attacks? If all three attacks that come out of that mill-- Liam: It hurts you. I take half the damage myself. Half the damage. But it didn't. Yeah. All right, so here we go, so we got one attack card, two, three, four, five. Wow. Six. So it's six damage onto that, so it's a total of 11-- 11 damage. 11 damage. Okay, so you're at 11, so-- Yes, put this little dice here to remind me of now it's an additional six damage on that. speed. The speed is still at five. speed is still at five. The damage is nasty. Currently. Currently, it could go up. Yes. (laughing) All right, let me see if I have any enhances that could save me from this barrel of danger. The Nott Jester duo is dangerous, man. To everyone. Okay, well I gotta bring out big Trinket, because as an enhance, and that's going to, I'll clear it 'cause it's two. So of course it goes through. Add this card to your card pool. This attack gets negative four damage. Okay. If your character is Vex, which it is not, I could bring Trinky back to me, but-- Got it. This is going to be a one time thing. Okay. To protect me from obliteration. Okay. Over to you, for any other enhances you'd like to do. Spreading The Word. Enhance and commit. Add one Pamphlet counter to a card in your rival's stage. (laughs) So just, we'll put it on the... Oh, which one doesn't go away? We'll do it. What does it do? I'll tell you in a second. Oh no. We'll do this one. Elvish. Elvish. Oh good. So this attack gets plus two speed. Oh, by putting this here, you get two speed? Correct. Aye aye aye aye aye aye aye. So now that's an additional seven speed. So you're at seven total for speed? Correct. Got it, got it, got it. If, at the start of my combat phase-- You have 10 or more Pamphlet counters, I win the game. Got it. That was the card that I was-- Yes, I remember. It's the other win condition. It's being explained to me. "'Cause The Traveler is so wonderful, and you just sometimes don't want to fight me with--" Here's a pamphlet and here's a pamphlet. "Yes, please take them all." (laughs) It's so awesome. Okay. No I pass, 'cause I just don't have anything that will help me in this situation that I'm aware of. It's like you spent all your cards. No, I have these, but these don't-- Right. There's no enhancements on all of the-- Enhancements, right, right. Foundation cards that I have out. That's true. So I pass, unless you want to enhance again. You can try to-- Let me see if I-- Mess me up. I have anything I can do here. Oof. (vocalizing) You know what, I will enhance and commit this, just to draw one card for each copy of Button Collector I have, so I get to draw another card. Okay. That's my enhance. So you enhanced. I pass, unless you have another thing. You would pass. I will also... No, I should hold onto those two just in case. Yeah, that'll go through. All right. Okay, so that attack goes through. I don't even half an up speed block, so this is for half damage. We have to see if it succeeds. Yep. So what it is is it's two plus three. Right. Plus seven. Correct. Two plus, 10 total. I have to hit 10, so I need a five or a six, or I'm borked. It's a five, it's still really painful. Five, six, seven, eight, nine. 10. I'm left with three cards. Not committed, ready. So that is a successful half block, so the total is 11. The total, now it's seven, 'cause you reduced it by... By four. Four. So it's seven? So it's rounded up, so I take four points of damage. Four points of damage to you, from a Big Freakin' Explosion! Dang, dang. I'll let you get that situated. Dang. All right, and then next up, Pressing the attack is good, because that obliterated all the cards I had for defense. I mean, I still can, but I don't have much. Try for a Tinkerer's Bolt, follow up on that. Which at a four cost, I'd draw five to pay for it, so that one's good for a total of five. That's four plus one. So that's going to be a three down speed, four damage. I will... Yeah! I'll enhance and commit to... Oh, it's not a spell. Never mind, I can't do that. So yeah, just go ahead. So it's three down? Three down. All right. I can make a go of that, 'cause I have two plus two is four, plus three is seven. Five. Six, seven. So that is a successful complete block. Okay. This one did damage, I'm going to do that so we remember. Great. Okay. Or that did damage. These are blocks. Yeah. Alrighty. So that's the successful block on that one. And then I'm going to put down, for a cost of five, another following up Sniping Bolt. He's still going, folks. Pulls a five on you. So that pays for it, for three plus two, so that's a middle three, sorry, middle two speed for three damage. For three damage? So in this instance, no, I mean, I just take it, because I don't have a card. You don't have a card to block? Right, so... Yeah, I'm going to enhance, see if I have anything. You can juice it up. I will, let me see here. (laughs) Okay. I'm going to spend one momentum, as my enhance that Jester Lavorre can use to add one spell card from my discard pile to my hand, I'm going to put Big Freakin' Explosion back in my hand. Oh, why wouldn't you? (laughing) All right. So the total damage, it's... You played it, so it's two, speed three damage, so I take another three 'cause I can't block. Unless you have any enhances. I have another enhance I want to use. Then juice it up! I'm going to go ahead and commit to my Playing Pranks here. To enhance, once per turn, I can commit one foundation. Which I do there. Your rival spends one momentum. So your momentum goes away. And then both players add the top card of their deck to their momentum. So we just move it over. I have to recycling. Yeah. And that's the end of there. I have no other enhances. Okay. I don't think. So that's three damage to you then? Yes. Alrighty. I didn't already take it? I've lost track of where we are. One, two, three. Okay. Okay. That finishes both of these now? Go in momentum? Correct? The end of my turn? The ones that damage me, yeah. Yeah, that's right. Tinkerer's Bolt does not. Yeah, it goes in the discard. Those all stay committed. Correct, and it's your go! Okay. I'm very open this round. Holy shmoley. But I also did some decent hits, so-- Oh, you clobbered me. Yeah. You clobbered me. All right, this goes here. So I get a full new hand. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven. These all go away, whoop! Yoink. Matt: Aw, man. Hey. Angry Vax scares me. I mean, I could pull... Maybe I could pull this out. But now I get a healing card. (laughing) Well good! (laughs) Let me see. All right, well, before the game ends, I've got to play Dagger, Dagger, Dagger. So that is a six to play it, I get a five. I will commit the turned card. So while this card is in your card pool, each of your attacks with dagger or daggers in its name gets a negative one difficulty. My first enhance. One card. I will, for my first enhance, spend one momentum, add one card with dagger or daggers in its name not named Dagger, Dagger, Dagger from your discard pile into your hand. So I can fish out something fun. Six damage. (Liam humming) Okay. Woo. I'll take this one. Boom. Discard pile down. So we're at three up, six damage, I just did my first enhance. So over to you for enhancement. You know what? I'm going to attempt to, (chuckles) half block. So this is an enhance going down. Oh, sorry, no. Remember, we gotta do all our enhancements first. That's right, yeah, enhancements first. Gotta learn, gotta learn. Nah, I'm okay. All right. I think. 'Cause I have to, yeah. Okay, so for my next enhance from the Vax'ildan, Cunning Thief player card, your ranged or weapon attack gets plus three speed. Interesting question, can I play an enhance from a foundation that's been committed?? Committed? No. I didn't think so. Okay, yeah. That is the trade off for kicking the shit out of me on your turn. Yeah, that's valid. So this three up speed raises so now we're at, I'm gonna put it next to it, that's a six up speed. Okay. Six damage. I don't think you can enhance, but I wanna check. It would have to be from your base. Yeah, no, and I can't, I'm good. All right, so I'm gonna go through my things. Enhance, flip, your attack gets plus two damage. Plunk. So now that is an eight. Damage. Zoink like that. You can't enhance so I'm gonna keep looking here. I will enhance again, flip, plus two damage. So this is now a 10. So I'll put a four there. 10 damage, my god. 10 damage. Six up speed, I can't affect my speed anymore. Any other enhances I can do? No, I pass. Which means if you can't enhance, then the attack-- I cannot enhance. (laughs) So now it's time to block. Yeah. Do you have any up dog? No, but I can try to block middle for half damage maybe. Half block. That's a three on top of, so that's nine. Oh, you're pulling in the dirt wizard for a little bit of help. Indeed. I see. No, it doesn't work. So 10 through? 10 through. Vengeance. (laughs) Vengeance! You're still 10 above me. Yeah, it's kinda the math I'm playing for here, so. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So like, what I'm weighing now as a super amateur card player is, do I just go ham and try to knock you all the way down, which is, I don't know if I can do that. but if I go for it, if I go ham, I could probably get you really close, but then I'm gonna have nothing protecting me most likely. It's up to you, I only got one more foundation to spend. Lemme see here. Up to you, man. How you feeling? Well, I mean, I've put down Dagger, Dagger, Dagger, it seems a shame not to use more daggers. So I'll put down Venomous Dagger Slash. Dagger, Dagger, Dagger, yeah. Action, action, bonus action. It's been a bit. You're not fast enough to run from my painful legacy. (laughs) Painful legacy. All right, so while this card is in your pool, each of your attacks with dagger and its name gets negative one difficulty. So this actually doesn't accrue difficulty so that's five that I have to check. Okay. Come on. That's a three. Okay. That's a three, so I'm gonna turn these two. Okay. So that's out. No enhances have happened yet. So I will use Vax's Cunning Thief enhance again, plus three speed, except there's already an attack out. So this time it's only plus two. So this now becomes six down. Damage doesn't change. Okay. So that's one enhance over to you. Over to me. Okay. No enhances. Okay. Actually, you know what? Nevermind. Jester Lavorre, I'm gonna as an enhance, spend a momentum, to add a spell card from my discard pile to my hand. Okay. And I will add to my hand a Spirit Lollipop. Continue please. Very nice, tasty. I'm not going to do any enhances. I'm just going to, I am all out so I will send it through unless you have something else. All righty, I will attempt to block. Good. One plus one is two plus six is eight. Correct. Let's see what we get on this one. I don't even think I can do it. (laughs) Yeah, you'd have to, even if you pulled a six, you would have to have two cards ready? And you only have one. I only have one, yean. So, nah, it does not work. But hey, it's pretty art though. A really beautiful card. It's nice and foily. Duplicitous Attack. So that is five damage that goes through then. All righty. Okay. Even that up pretty quick. It's closer, it's closer. But I've played enough of the games of this that I know, is it gonna work? All right, okay, okay. I go all in here. So, I'm going to put down Fiery Dagger Flourish. So because of this, there is no, it gets negative one difficulty. So it should be a six, but it's a five. Five technically, yeah. So come on, gimme a five. It's a five. So that's out. Haven't enhanced yet. Hostile Introduction, Hand-Axe Swing didn't help me. Enhance, so it would be a plus three, but there's two other cards out, so it's just a plus one. So it's now a five mid speed, four damage. That's my enhancement. Matt: Alrighty. One card ready. How much damage is that? It's four. It's four. I got no enhances. So my last enhance would be if this attack deals damage destroy one committed rival foundation. Aw, what? Right. So four damage goes through. So that's, and then-- That's nasty. All right, let's get rid of this. No, I want to spread the word. Pretty Jester card. Go away. Curses. Does this stay? I guess it does. Matt: It does, in case I get another one in there. I guess it does, okay, okay. Pamphlets still in your pocket, buddy. (chuckles) What the heck? Ugh. (laughs) All right. That's the four damage, right? Yes. Yes. So. Oh man. I don't think I would survive another round. So the question I have now is, do I risk all my defenses to try to knock to you down? That's up to you, man. That's, I know, I know. (humming) What would Vax'ildan do? Yeah, yeah, yeah, he would throw himself on the fire. You feeling lucky? Well, you know, Vax had luck but it didn't really help him in the end, did it? (laughs) Real luck is the friends we made along the way. And we lost. Three, I gotta do four. No, I'm actually gonna play a little more defensively. So I will, do that, that's definitely gonna go. All right. Clasp Member, right? Is that what that one is? That's, oh, sorry, yeah, the Clasp Member. Oh, the actual branding on the back, that's rad. And that tat on there. Then I am going to do form, commit and commit one foundation. Your rival loses one health for each attack in your card pool. So you just take three points. I clear one card from my card pool, it will be this one. Okay, These go down. I just take three damage? You take three damage. All right. So that just shrank my difficulty and-- That was an enhance ability? No, it was a form, right. That's a form. Right, and then I will try to get this out to help me. So two plus three is five, come on, five. Five, okay, maybe I'll survive. So that is the end of my turn. But a couple things are gonna happen here. One is, what was it? Response, flip, after you, so we're clearing these things. These are coming down, these guys become Momentum, these two daggers. This has a response, flip, after you clear a card from your card pool during the combat phase ready this card, so that is now ready again, but it's flipped. And, after your end phase begins, draw one card. If you played one or more attacks this turn discard a card. So I would draw a card and I'm gonna discard a card. Oh, those are, this is my hand over here. And I'm gonna get rid of this card, sorry, Sean. And these guys are committed. That's committed, these are up, these are up, these are up. So I am all set to try to avoid the onslaught. Bring on the mayhem. All right, we'll see. You have 7,000 foundations, I have five. Down one from the last one that you destroyed, which is great. I'm gonna draw up to my-- Oh boy. Draw up to my five here, okay. Liam: Start thinking here. All right, I will begin. Should've done that last round, that's on me. Okay, I'm gonna go ahead and... I'm so tense now, I'm clenching. Good. My you know what. Good. Aw, got rid of my happy-go-lucky one. All right, well, we're gonna go ahead and go in for a Spirit Lollipop. Ouch. Outta a five, pay for it with a five. Outta the gate Spirit Lollipop coming at you. Okay. Out of the gate. Enhance that shit. I'm going to. No, no enhancement for me. Nah. (hums) It's a five, mid speed, five damage. (sighs) Oh man, five mid. Let's see. Five mid, you say. If I use that one, that'll be hard. Choices. Man. Okay, I'm going to block with Flaming Arrow. So you're at mid, this is high, so this is for a half block. Okay. So one plus five is six. So I have to check the six. It's a three. All right. Four, five, six, so that is a half block. I have a response. Yes. So that goes through, the damage is five rounded up to three. For half damage. Response, flip, after you partially block an attack gain two, so I ultimately take one point of damage. Okay. In the end, so that goes down to seven. Tapped your damage. I did little damage there, great. Aye yi yi. All right. Let's come with a Tinkerer's Bolt. Aye yi yi. Also for five, paid for with a five. Aye yi yi. Coming at you. It's a three low speed for four damage from the Tinkerer's Bolt. Three, three. What you got? Oh, can I actually enhance? Yeah, you got enhance, that's right. All right, so Tinkerer's Bolt is down there. It has a response from the Spirit Lollipop. After this attack is blocked, your next attack, gets plus three damage. Oh! So this is now a three low speed, seven damage. Seven, okay. Okay, okay, okay, here, put a die on there so I don't forget. Yeah, yeah, valid, valid. Three low. Damage on that. The speed is currently three? speed is three, three low. Three. Seven, aye yi yi. All right, I will enhance. Add this card to your card pool. So I do that, my enhanced now takes that seven damage down to three total. To three total? Okay. Yes. We'll say for this, that makes it a-- speed's the same. Yeah, I'm putting this on for my reminder of like three damage now. Yeah, so it's a three down. Three down, three damage. Over to you for more enhances if you have them. My goodness. Yeah, I'll spend a Momentum as part of my Jester Lavorre enhance to add a spell from my discard into my hand. Naughty. So I will go ahead and grab, Big Freakin' Explosion. (laughing) Shit, all right. I pass, nothing from me. Okay, I pass too. That goes through, that's three damage. Unless you want-- No, I'm blocking. Sorry, sorry, blocking, blocking. Passing the enhances, now you can block. I'm blocking. Three, four, five, that's eight. (groans) Three, four, five, six, eight, it goes through, 'cause I can't, it failed as a block. Okay. So it just goes through. So three damage to you. One, two, three, oh my goodness. All Righty. Okay. Let's play a Big Freakin' Explosion. Yeah, you got to. (laughs) You got to. Five, six, seven cost on that. Whew. That's a five, six, seven to pay for it, as I get that (laughs) thing on my shoulder there. So, okay. (laughs) You're doing it? Here we go. (laughs) To enhance it, I'm going to spend the momentum. (laughs) So I have to mill three, right? I spend that, and then I mill-- Oh, right, 'cause if you get three attacks, it splashes onto you. That's one attack. Okay. Damn it. That is a spell. Thank god, (laughs) 'cause if I'd blown us both up, that would've been great. (laughs) And I love that's an option. Okay, so mill three. Oh, good grief. I mean, this is, ugh, oof. Yeah, so it's one for each tag in your discard pile. Ooh. So that's one, two. (sighs) (laughs) Three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine. (laughs) Aw, just throw hotdogs at my face. (laughs) (booms) So yeah, so that's nine damage on top of the five, so it's a total of 14 damage coming your way. 14 damage. Speed of five high. Speed of five. Now, there's no point for me to even block because, first of all, I'm just going to be transparent here, I have a mid, so it'd be just for half damage. Three plus three is six plus five is 11. There is no card. Even if I pull a six, it's not going to win. So you just officially blowed me up. Yeah. Good game. (laughs) Good game. (laughs) (laughs) (booms) Aw. Dang. Chaos Crew in effect. No joke. Man, last round, I really had no means of response. Yeah, but I called it. I've played seven or eight games of this, and I could tell how close I could get you, but it wasn't enough. And it was really kind of a no-win situation for me there because even if I had done one less attack and tried to bolster my defenses, I wouldn't have been able to stave that off. That's all good, that's all good. (sighs) Well, do you want to play again? You want to switch sides? Oh, we try it again? Yeah. Oh, oh my god, yeah, sure. I'm trying to think, we could switch it up, you want to play Jester? Yeah, let's switch it up. I have no idea how to use that deck, which is great. That's okay, I barely know how to use that one. (humming) Shuffled that there. So yeah, these are the tokens you can use. I didn't get a chance to put down Nott's Flask, which is a card that uses tokens, and you can, you spend tokens to enhance, either add damage to or reduce damage from attacks that are coming in. But if you don't have any tokens in the card, then it lowers your speed, 'cause you got to stay drunk. Yeah. (laughs) Now, you played as Jester, I think I'll play as Nott, just to see what happens. These go back. Great. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, all right, let me see what I've got here. Choo-choo. Matt: What do you got now? What are you feeling? I don't know, I have to read, all brand new cards to me. Okay, okay. Ah. (laughs) Okay, interesting. Okay, I will start with Targeting Blast. Ooh boy. (sighs) Powerful Enhance, spend one, or more momentum, this attack gets plus two damage for each momentum spent. Ooh! The cost of this ability, but, Yeah, that is two damage. Let's do two of them. So, I spend two momentum to get that up to eight damage. So, I'll do a four next to it. That is my opening enhance. Okay. Over to you. I, take it. Oh, no, no, you get to go. No, no, no, no, it means since I have nothing to enhance with it, so. Well, hold on, I got some stuff I can still do. Oh yeah, go for it, go for it. Okay, I'm going to, for my next enhance, probably my last one, I'm going to mill from the my Nott the Brave, Irritable Goblin. I mill a card. If you have less health than your rival, I do, your attack gets plus one damage. So, it's now at nine. All righty. Ah, so we'll put a five next to the four, come on. And gains stun, the attack goes through stun a foundation. Okay, okay, okay, okay. So, that's that, I affected the damage, so we're at five mid, nine damage. Matt: Five mid, nine damage. And then I don't think you wanted to add any more enhancements. I have no more enhancements, so it's all you. Yeah, I passed too, so that means we can put it through, if you're game. All right, I take it to the face! Oh! Yeah. Oh wow Straight up. Okay. All right, so that's 90, it'll bring you down to 20. Closing that gap. ♪ Closing that gap ♪ All right, I will play another Targeting Blast. Oh my god. (laughs) And I need a five, and I get it. All righty. All right. So, my first enhance will be to play Wound/Restore. So, that's a three and a two is a five, come on, five! I get my five hit points, (sighs) up to 15. All right. Okay. It's a little closer than it was before. And it gets removed, right? Remove, gain five, and it gets removed from the pool? And it goes out of the game. Pah. There she goes, but I can still see her. Yes. Okay, over to you, if you have any enhances. No enhances. Okay, okay, okay, okay. If I will enhance again from, I will mill a card from Nott the Brave, Irritable Goblin. If you have less health than your rival, the attack gets plus one damage, so that's five damage. Okay. Oh, and because this went through, this past one, that last foundation card is stunned. So, poink! All righty. So, now we're at five mid. Five damage. Over to you to enhance, if you don't have an enhance, I'm done. I got nothing. Send it through. All right. I take it to the face. Oh! (clicking) 15 to 15. (gasps) Tied, okay. Yeah. So that goes there. Yeah, enhance that bonus damage now when we're the same health. I got nothing. (laughs) I'm taking it to the face right now. Plus, this was actually faster, because after this deals damage, which it did, this is two faster. Oh, good to know, but good to know for a future game. Yes, the future ones. Too fast. Ooh, too furious. Okay. All right, a little upkeep. (sighs) A little upkeep here. We'll do Playing Pranks, that's four, six. And then I'll put down the Flask for another four. Three, four. All righty. I'm going to stop there. Okay. Don't get too cheeky. Heh. All right, so these both go to momentum. Correct. So they both hit. And these go down-- Oh, right, I just totally forgot to put these cards to momentum that I hit you with. That goes there, that goes there. The ladies are all in a row. Plus this stinky guy. Think you can add tokens to the Flask too. After you build this asset add three, booze counters to it-- Remember to put my momentum over here. Yeah, put it. Piece around that I forgot. Liam: What did you say? Okay. Nothing, you're good, you're good. Over to you. All righty. I'm going to go ahead, and take my hand back up to six, and then get back Mark Your Prey. Okay. First, I'm going to go ahead, and throw down for Piercing Dagger Strike. (grunting) Cost of four, three, oh, these are actually supposed to be up. I will get that going there. And then I will use Mother's Embrace to pay off the rest of that cost there for four. So, that is going to be that speed there. I will put down Mark Your Prey on that card. Pay for that is a three, and there's a six cost, so yeah, it goes ahead, and pays it off there. So, I need you to flip a foundation of your choice. Oh, flip a foundation of my choice. Correct. And then, which one did you flip? One of these guys. Okay, got you. One of the Hostile Introductions. Okay, cool. So, that now puts it at, let's see, plus one speed that-- So that's going to be a four speed middle. Okay. Yeah, that's my enhance, what do you want to do? Four speed middle. Okay, okay, okay, okay. Let's see, once per turn, mill three. If you do not mill an attack this way, add a booze counter to your card. Weapon, that's an attack. Yeah. So, I do not add a booze counter, but I got to mill three. Right. Okay. Over to you, if you have an enhance. Okay, I will mill one. It is an attack, it's a Flaming Arrow. So, that adds plus three damage to the attack. So the total, is that eight right now, or? It's at eight. Eight. Okay. And the speed is-- And the speed is plus one for middle. Four middle. What do I got here? Hmm. There we go. Phew, okay, I'm going to pass. You have anything else you'd like to do? Nah, I think that's good for now. All right, so, I will block with The Traveler's Favorite. So, three plus four is seven. So come on, give me a six. That's a five, could've been worse. Full block. Full block, all righty. So that puts that there. Those go away. Now-- Hold the line, Jester and Nott. Put down A Trinket for Vex. Hold the line! At a three cost, that goes in at a five. Then we're going to put down Twins' Bond at a cost of four. Bring it to three, that pays it for four. Going to put down Shameless Haggler-- Oof. At a cost of five, pays for it with a five. Oof. And then another Mother's Embrace. That's going to be a five cost, paid for with a five. Dang! All right, that ends my go. That's a lot of mojo. It is. Mark Your Prey gets discarded. Okay. That just goes away, it does not become momentum. And then this goes over there. These all come down to join me. Liam: Okay. Your turn. Right, I'm going to bring The Traveler's Favorite over into the discard, I ready these guys here. So, I'll do this. Yeah, three of those. One, two, three, four, five, six, plus this is seven. Let's see what we got. Okay, okay, okay. Let's try for this. Big Freakin' Explosion. Enhance, spend one momentum, mill three. This attack gets plus one damage for each attack in your discard pile. If you mill three attacks this way, you lose health equal to half this attack. So, if it's three attacks-- Correct. One attack, two attacks, three attacks. (laughing) Yes! Oh my goodness. (laughing) Amazing. All right, so spend one momentum, mill three, the attack gets plus one damage for each attack in your discard pile? Amazing. Yeah. Amazing. Yeah, let's go. One, two, three, four! (laughing) Matt: Let's go. Five! (laughs) (laughing) Six, seven, eight, (gasps), nine, 10, 11, 12, 13, (laughing) 14! (laughing) Okay, okay. Where do these go? Up here? Sure. Okay, so that's now 19 damage. (laughs) 19 damage, mark that somehow. I think I can remember 19 damage. Oh my goodness gracious. Okay. Okay, okay, okay, that's my enhance. Would you like to do anything? (laughing) (laughing) That's awesome. Dang, okay. Whew. Okay, so for my enhance on that, I'm gonna go ahead and remove A Trinket for Vex and spend one Momentum, which I'll put that in there and remove that from the game to build a Trinket, which I think there was one back here. There it is, that comes into play. (groaning) There's that. Okay, over to me? Now it's over to you. Okay. I will use Button Collector, I will spend one Momentum, this guy, to seal two rival foundations. I'm gonna seal your two Dragon Lore Experts. But I can destroy one. You can destroy one to, yes, to avert that. Sure, all right, why not? Both of these aren't functional right now. Okay. Wait, wait, no. What? No. No, okay. I am going to go ahead and destroy Venture Forth from Syngorn to prevent that. Okay. That is-- So they stay in effect. Correct. Okay. That was your enhance? Yes, that was my enhance. Okay, I am then going to enhance Dragon Lore Expert and commit it, attack its minus two speed. Does it have fire or death card on it? Both. Both, yeah, so it's minus one damage as well. So now it's down to 18 damage. 18 damage. And it was two speed? So it's down to, it's a three-up speed currently. Okay. Okay, oh, man. If you block this, I'm still gonna get the half of damage. Yep. That's amazing. Let's see, let's see, let's see. Command during attack. Okay, not that, not that. I'm going to commit enhance, commit Button Collector. Draw one card for each copy of Button Collector in your stage. So I get an extra card. Okay, I just have it, over to you for any enhances you wanna do. Okay. I am then going to Dragon Lore Expert again, commit it for another minus two speed and minus one damage. Okay. So now it's 17 damage and the speed is reduced to... Is it down to one? Oh, man, this did not go well for me. I'm done, I pass, so let's just let this happen to me if you're ready to let it happen to me. Okay, so now is it how much damage? 17. I think we had started at 19. Correct. So each of those cards brought it down one. Yeah. Is that right? So 17 damage, so you gotta go for the block. Yep. Should be-- I'm not gonna enhance any for that one. I'm gonna go ahead and block with Prank War. It's a half block. Oh! Because it's mid. (laughing) Not what I was expecting. No, that's the only one I had in my hand. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that puts us at, that's three, four, right? Yes. All right, let's go. It's cost of three, four. With all that being what it is, we both take the exact, or not the same exact damage, right? It's because it's midway. Well, I think because for on this it says, "You lose health equal to half this attack in damage rounded down," so-- So you take rounded down, I take rounded up. So I round down, you round up, which means-- So you take eight and I take nine. Okay. Okay. Puts me at six. You at seven? Yes. (laughing) Jeepers creepers, that's not what I wanted to happen at all. (laughing) Okay. I love that card. That's a well-designed card. It really is, big risk, big reward. All right, you're up. Oh geez, what the heck do I do now? (laughing) Okay. Well... You got a hand? Are you holding? You're out of cards, right? I'm out of cards, bro. Okay. All right, all right, all right, all right, well... We are going to put down, Hand-Axe Swing. So that's a six, five, six. All right. All right, what enhances? Anything in my hand? No. Enhance commit. Remove one booze counter. This attack gets plus three damage. Oh my goodness. So that's at eight. So five plus three is eight. Five up speed, eight damage. Do you have any enhances? I will enhance the Trinket. Add this to my card pool. And this attack gets minus four damage. Minus four damage, so eight down to four total. Okay, okay, okay. So five up, four? Yeah, okay. Yeah, yeah? Yep. Okay. I checked for that, right? Yes, I did. Yep. And I turned a card. Yep. Okay. After this card... This is getting dicey. Okay, I pass. So that means, unless you have another enhance, maybe you do. So it'd be four damage to me, right? Yes. I have no means of blocking and no other enhances, so... So four damage? Yeah, four damage to me. I'm at two. Okay. Whoa. (laughing) Well, this is a good time to bring out the Sniping Bolt. Oh, god. If your rival is not taken damage you have, there'd be a bonus. There's not, so that is a two, three, it's a five. That's a five, it's out. Dang it, all right. Is there any enhances? Because-- Yes? Add this card to your card pool. This attack it, the card is, add it to your hand after this attack resolves. Oh, okay, got it, got it. (sighing) I have no enhances, so I pass. So you pass? Yeah, it is a two mid. But you have to be able to play a card. I'm going to enhance flip my Shameless Haggler. Which allows me to discard a card. Yep. And draw a card and gain two health. Ooh, good move. Do you wanna draw a card and get two health? (laughing) How you feeling, buddy? Two. You got a card. You're holding one card. Two. Let me see. Shoot, the damage is not enough. Oh, it's right down to the wire, man. It really is. (laughing) Wow. I got saved by that Trinket coming back in my hand at the end of the attack. Yeah, yep. I'm about ready to throw that in. All right. Enhance, add the top card of your discard pile to your hand. Discard one random card. Hold on, are you taking the extra card and extra health or not? Oh, no. Okay, fine. (laughing) No, no. No. That's viable. Okay, that is not for once. No, that was my enhance. Do you have an enhance you'd like to do? No, I could have done that earlier. Ah, that's on me for not remembering. Okay, no, no further enhances. Shoot. (laughing) Yeah, I pass. Man, this is gonna turn on me. So that is mid two. Right. It's a three damage, so... Mid two, three damage. Yeah. I'm gonna go ahead and mid to on top of that to block it. Elvish Tutoring. Two is a three, which you will for sure, 'cause you have to check. So three, four is the total, right? Two, three, six, no, two, three, five total. Yeah, two, three... Oh yeah, three, that's right. That's five. So five total. Four, five. Oh, wow. (laughing) Wow. And it's mid, right? Yeah, it's mid. So that's a total block, amazing. It's a big block. Amazing. Whew! Oh, Nelly. Your turn's still going, so. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Whew, I'm nervous. (laughing) Okay. I will put down... I will put down... I have... Okay. Two, three, is a five. What card did you put down? It's a foundation. What is it called? Oh, this is Spreading the Word. Spreading the Word, oh, is this the one? Yeah, you put the pamphlet counters, oh boy. It's pretty late game for that. Yeah, that's a good one to get down earlier. So that was a three, so I have to do four or five to get it. I'll chance that. I need a five. I'm not gonna take it, I'm just gonna lose it. Okay. This goes here. That's it, so she comes down. This was a full block. Full block. These both go to Momentum. Correct. (laughing) And it's over to you. Okay. This is gonna be it, though. Oh, man. Wow. All right, so these go back. Whew! We'll see. All righty, draw up to my hand, which is all of it. Okay. (laughing) Okay. This goes into my hand at the end. Do you have Mark Your Prey is where it's supposed to be? I do it, I just put it back in my hand. Okay. All right, so first I'm gonna start with Shameless Haggler. Yeah, love that card. Pay for that for five, that works. And I'm gonna go ahead and Flirting and Flattery for two. Pays for it for three. Flirting and Flattery again for three. Pays for it for three. (exhaling) Clasp Membership for three. Pays for it with four. Wow. Clasp Membership for four. Wow. Pays for it with five. Amazing. Okay, all right. Stock 'em, rack 'em up. If I had an attack card, I would be coming for ya. (laughing) But in-- What? Truly unique fashion-- What? I drew pretty much nothing but foundations. Oh my gosh. All right, one, two, three, four. That's there. Oh man, I set myself up for such a good response on that All right, one, two, and did not get any cards to help out with that. three, four, five, six, seven. Okay. Okay, what's in my hand? Well, I didn't get Big Freakin' Explosion, which I for sure would've done because it's the funniest move. Yeah. All right, let's see what we got, traveler. Okay, we start with Hand-Axe Swing, five. It's a three, four, five. Four, five. And that's out. All right. I'm not going to enhance. Okay. I don't have less health than you. Okay. I might as well, no. I might as well not do that. That's not gonna pay off in the end. These are all responses. Enhance. Spend one Momentum. This is coming from Button Collector. All righty. Seal two rival foundations, or you can destroy a foundation to stave it off and it'll be the same two Dragon Lure Experts. I'll destroy this one. Yeah. Okay. Okay, but it doesn't say commit, so that's just for later. I assume it's once a turn. There we go. Better organized. Okay. I'm going to pass. Okay, so now it's blocking time? It's gonna block with a two up. Two up, so seven. Seven. Seven-up, let's go ahead and draw in to block on that. That's a three. Got a lot of cards. Four, five, six, seven. Ah. To block it. Ooh la la. Okay, so that's total block. Oh, my goodness. Good gravy. (laughing) Do it, I'm here, kill me. I can't. (laughing) You got a lot of foundations. Okay, Tinkerer's Bolt. Damage mill two. If mill attacks by mill two. That's a response. Okay. All right. So I have to check. That is five. All right, that succeeds. Okay. It's a three speed down. Yes. Four damage. Four damage. I will spend a booze token. Okay. Enhancing. Okay. So now it's up to a seven damage. All righty. So seven damage total. Yep, seven damage total. Okay. I will enhance to reduce the time minus two speed and minus one damage. Minus two speed. Minus two speed? Minus two speed. Oh my. Minus one damage. Okay, so that's a one. And it's through, so now it's a six damage total. Super low speed. (sighing) I'm gonna enhance. Okay. Using Spreading the Word. All right. Add one pamphlet counter to a card in your rival's stage. Sure. Okay. This attack gets plus two speed. So we're back up to three, Okay. speed. That's your enhance? That's my enhance. Dragon Lore Expert a second time minus two speed and minus one damage. (groans) So down to five. Where's the five? There it is. Minus one, so now it's two speed. Oh, actually probably. Okay. If I did that, I probably would've kept this one up actually. So it's me, hold on to that one. Enhance, commit. Draw one card for each copy of Button Collector down here in your stage, if you draw, oh, that's only one. Let's do that one. That makes more sense. Okay. (sighing) That was an enhance, so it's over to you. Okay. I'm gonna do enhance Shameless Haggler to flip. Discard a card. Draw a card and gain two health. Shoot. Do you wanna draw a card and gain to health? Nah. Nah? Nah. Okay, I pass. You pass? Yeah. All right, so now we're in the blocking phase. Cool, I take it. (laughing) Okay. I cannot block that. So how much damage is that? That's five? Five. I'm at one. But I don't have any more attacks. That's bad. That's bad. Okay, so that goes away. Gulp. All right. (laughing) What could save me? Okay, so I gotta semi shuffle this. This is just me delaying the inevitable, really, my doom is nigh. We'll see. Kind of messed up that last round. Yeah, I don't think you're gonna be that unlucky twice, but we'll see. Okay. You've known me long enough, Liam. Then I get rid of the top 10. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, 10. They go away. They can go sit by my Wound/Restore card with Jester. All righty. That goes there. So I was going for a check, this is a five. It's a three, four, five. Okay. I thought there was one more that I wanted to try for. (sighing) Do I want it? I don't want it. Three. Okay. So, these both go to, no, the first one was a block, right? Yeah. This goes to Momentum. Correct. Naughty comes down. All righty, so finish your go. This finishes my game, dude, yep. We'll see, we'll see. Woo! Here. Get those ready to go. Okay, draw up to my hand of six. It's one, two, three, four, five, six. This goes into the discard. And then at the beginning it comes in. We are about to go into the beyond salute you. (laughing) All rightly, so let's start off with a Venomous Dagger Slash. Yeah, why wouldn't ya? Let's see if we can pay that cost there. It's gonna be a three, four, five, so that's paid for that. That's a four low, five damage. Four low. First I'm gonna enhance it by putting Mark Your Prey, which is paid for, five. Flip a foundation for me. We'll shuffle these in the interim. Remove my 10 when it comes back in. All right, so now it is a five speed. Five speed low. Five speed low, correct. Okay. One, two, three, four, five. Okay, I will use Button Collector enhance, spend one Momentum to seal two rival Foundations. Okay. Can I peek at a card to look at the text? Yeah. I wanna remember. Okay. If you don't destroy a card, I'll seal that one. Okay. And this is just for your attacks, right? This doesn't go the other way. It just, I mean I could use it on mine, technically, but I wouldn't want to. But you wouldn't want to. And that's for blocking, so I will seal Prank War. Okay. I'll allow it. Okay. Over to you for enhances. Okay. I will mill from Mark Your Prey. I do not mill an attack, so it gets plus one damage, which puts it at now six. Six damage. Correct. And it's still four down speed, I can't remember. Oh, I'm sorry, they should be increased to a five. Five, five down. Five down. Gonna pass. You're gonna pass? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Does this get anything here? No, I pass. I'm not on good footing here. Okay. I will enhance commit, the next range attack I make gets plus three damage and ignores difficulty. So the total damage is... Total damage is, well, I committed. You said you're done? I'm done. Yeah, we'll go with that. Well what, so we're at, what are both numbers right now? Sorry, that is a five speed low. speed low. Six damage. Six damage. Okay, so I will, are you ready to commence? Yeah, let's go. So I will half block. So that is three plus your five. Correct, it's at eight. Eight, come on, nope. Four, five, six, seven now goes through. The whole thing goes through. The whole thing goes through. So that's it, Jester's down. Is that a six damage? Oh, how much is it, six? Six. Oh, I thought it was eight. Okay, so I'm down to one. Oh my gosh, okay. Okay. (laughing) The next card to put down is gonna be Flaming Arrow, which ignores that because of her ability, so it's going to be a six speed middle put there, and then the damage is going to be one, two, three. You know what? As it comes down, it's gonna be three, six damage, currently, with the bonus of the three she get from last round. As part of the enhance, I'm gonna use Powerful 3 enhance, spend one or more Momentum, I'm gonna spend both. It gets plus three damage for each spent, so that goes up to nine. And you don't really need to work on damage. I got one hit point. I know, but it's fun. Yeah. (laughing) All right, you wanna enhance? Okay, so thinking... (whistling) I don't really have anything I can do and I don't have one less hit point than you. We're right on par, so I will pass. Okay. I will mill. It's not an attack, that gives it one more damage. (sighing) So it's 10 damage now to six middle speed. Okay. And I think that's all of my enhances. Okay, you wanna let it go through? Yeah, go on through. Okay. So the only way I will survive, 'cause this is three plus your six speed. Yeah. Is if I, I have four cards in play. If I draw five or a six, I fully block. Anything else, I'm down. All right. Three. (laughing) The fun bit, but I was gonna wait on it, if you had blocked that, the Venomous Dagger Slash. Oh. At the end of the round you still lose a health, so it still would've taken you out at the end of the round. Amazing, amazing. Interesting. This is fun, man, thank you much. Amazing. Well played. Good game. That was back and forth on that, holy shit. All right, I'm gonna unclench between my buttocks. Ah, give me about 30 minutes to get there. It's a gradual process. (laughing) That was awesome. Good game, good game. Oh my god. I can't wait to try and convince Marisha to learn how to play this. (sighing) I think she'll enjoy it, just we gotta find time and... Liam: Time. We'll put that and probably other card games together, so like it's just about getting the moments to do so, but this is really fun. I'm going to bring them home and digest. I'm gonna start working with this one. What I'm excited is to now have these characters fight other characters from other franchises, and just think of the narrative weirdness of that. Yeah. (laughing) Like Nott the Brave versus Spike Spiegel. Spike Spiegel. Especially if we can, oh, we can get Steve Blum to learn the game next time we go visit. Who do you vote for? (laughing) And that one, it's a tough one. Yeah. All right, thank you again to UniVersus for sponsoring today's stream, and thank you to all of you for hanging out and watching us really intensely play a game as we're learning it out and having a good time. Hope you had a good time as well. You can find the Critical Challenger Series that we played today at your local game store. Go grab it and be sure to ask about the Briarwoods Co-Op Adventure when you do 'cause they need to die 'cause they're horrible people. They're very bad people. Indeed, but thank you all so much for joining us and, yeah, we'll see you again soon. (blowing kiss) (laughing) Goodbye, goodbye. Bye, everybody. (adventurous music)
