Hey guys whats up Aru! So Fontaine is literally a hop skip and a
jump away from us. And I haven't really made a full video regarding
everything in Fontaine itself yet. But I cant help but wonder that every seemingly
small problem in Fontaine, all connects together like water in a river. And when all your problems connect, you’ll
find the biggest problem. So welcome to the video of a man who can't
swim. In this video we're gonna be going over as
much of Fontaine as I could. The bads and goods, but mostly the bads. Fontaine’s current situation and what the
region is up to. Finally some interesting characters both playable
and NPC. And what they might do once we get there. Honestly I just wanted to use this thumbnail
format. And discuss Fontaine's problems in a way that
gets worse and worse. Timestamps below and below, let's get started. The most technologically advanced region in
all of Teyvat. Hailed for its great achievements in well,
Technology. The hub of all culture and the arts, & the
region of “true beauty and elegance”. Fontaine is where the age of enlightenment
is, and where great minds come and go to showcase either their bright inventions, or to immerse
themselves in the artistry of Fontaine’s spectacles or waters. Because you can actually swim underwater with
a diving certificate. That aside, The Court of Fontaine is where
judgments are made against any who defy Fontaine’s laws. Reinforcing these laws, we have; The God of
Justice herself, Focalors. The multiple courts of Fontaine where they
judge the guilty and the innocent, and finally the chief justice of Fontaine, Neuvillette. Even though Fontaine already has an integrated
system of courts to conduct their trials. The God of Justice still participates in every
and I mean every trial. Does she not trust the courts of Fontaine
or the Chief of Justice Neuvillette? Is there something wrong or maybe bias with
how they run their trials? Or is Focalors just that excited to be part
of the spectacle that a trial has? Maye Focalor just loves Ace Attorney, or maybe
Neuvillette and the other courts are just bad at conducting trials? Maybe one is controlling the other, who knows. But you can think that there's something wrong
with Focalor, Neuvilette and the Court of Fontaine. And thats saying something, because Fontaine
is not only the City of technology, but the City of Justice. So Fontaine’s law and order is pretty interesting
to say the least. But maybe everything else is doing well right? Well, there's also a problem regarding Fontaine’s
market and possibly even economy. See, even though Fontaine is top dog in terms
of technology. They’re kind of lacking in the non technology
department. Literally everything they own and make is
always some sort of mechanical object. This may not seem like a problem, until we
take into account that nearly all of Fontaine’s mechanical objects rely on a single form of
energy. And that source of energy seems to be running
its course. Quite a bit of the items we got from Fontaine
run on some form of gears and a glowing form of energy. These are called clockwork mechanisms and
kinetic cores, and are seemingly the only source of energy that Fontaine uses. Invented by Allain Guillotin, these cores
serve as a nearly indispensable source of Fontaine’s power. Guillotin also founded the Fontaine research
institute of kinetic energy engineering which we’ll go over in a bit. Steambird
The steambird is Fontaine’s mainline newspaper outlet. Widely acclaimed, the Steambird takes note
and publishes news from all corners of Teyvat. That might sound fine and dandy on the surface,
but consider the fact that the steambird takes note of every major event the travelers had
made. Not saying that the steambird is dangerous,
but they might have the power to control the information that is spread all over Teyvat. Like the World Economy News Paper, the unpublished
information that the Steambird might have could be crucial to the traveler’s journey. Information is key when facing off against
other regions in a war, and even against gods. Fortunately this is where Mona works, creating
manuscripts about astrology. There's also the Journalist and reporter Charlotte. Both of them are well acquainted since the
recent TCG event. Unlike all the other regions which if you
think about it, we dove into head first like a champ or an idiot. Hopefully they could help us get the information
we need once we get there, and make our lives easier getting through Fontaine’s own mysteries. Quick insert, Kavehs mom is also in Fontaine. She moved to Fontaine after her husband’s
death, and remarried sometime after Kaveh’s graduation, yikes. Finally Lyney and Lynette, who seem to be
magical performers. Kirara says that she met a magician in Fontaine
who could make things disappear and reappear out of thin air. This reminds me of the circus-like magician
act in Mondstadt in the Genshin manga. Maybe their part of that troupe? Or maybe their part of the wanderer’’s
troupe that is said to have died? This form of “magic”, along with the steambird,
adds to the mystery of the so-called masquerade of the guilty even more. Petrichor
Next is the Town of Petrichor, characterized for its majestic waterfalls, the town’s
very own reputation for its beauty, as well as the purity of its waters. Why am I talking about Petrichor? The waters of Petrichor are so pure that it
can assimilate almost any substance apart from the water that Hypostases possess. Which are lifeforms that reached the pinnacle
of elemental purity. And Petrichor’s waters are a tier just below
that. Petrichor and its waters will be a key point
of interest in either the main story of Fontaine or something relating to both the previous
Hydro Archon and the God of Justice Focalors. On the topic of the previous Hydro Archon,
the Lochfolk could have come from these waters. These include The Spring Fairy, blessing Diona
with perpetually good tasting drinks, and possibly Caterpillar with Julien painting
things in perfect detail. Translations of the Oceanids or Lochfolk mean
“Pure 'Water Spirit”. As well as the term Oceanid being nymphs,
and daughters of Oceanus. Which was a great river that encircled the
world. Back to Petrichor, The previous Hydro Archon
might have had something to do with Petrichor’s waters along with the Oceanids when they was
tasked to “connect” the people all over the world, like how water is connected. However she viewed the word “Connect”
is up to speculation. But that was their mission, until the Hydro
Archon passed. Leading to the Lochfolk exiling themselves
from Fontaine. Interestingly, the pool of Amrita where the
Hydro Archon died 500 years ago, also has pure waters. But since this pool is where the Hydro Archon’s
consciousness still is, it can actually purify Abyssal corruption. Near this Pool is the Harvisptokm which was
a tree made by the Rukkhadevata using the pool of Amrita to help seal an Abyssal tear
in Sumeru. I won't go over the Pari even though they
are kind of descendants of the Amrita and the Khvarena. But it's worth mentioning that the Pari long
to be with the Amrita and flow back to their source. Similar to the Hydro Archon’s ideals of
connecting the world. It's weird that we haven't had more mentions
of Amrita, considering it's literally the previous Hydro Archon. Prodigy (Alain Guillotin)
Let's go back to Fontaine’s Research Institute. The level of research that they conduct could
be more concerning than what the Akademiya had. The Fontaine Research Institute holds no bars
for human safety as well as education. Meaning, the research institute is open to
any and all aspiring individuals. From genius prodigies to budding mad scientists. You can take a guess who we’ll see behind
the scenes of this Institute. The Researchers of Fontaine also use something
called public funds or tax money. And anyone who fails in their research will
be judged in the court of Fontaine. Paired with the weird atmosphere of the God
of Justice and Neuvillette. Even the Institute seems like bad news. With Fontaine’s almost sole reliance on
a single source of energy. Researchers and inventors who want a piece
of Allain Guillotin’s glory are racing to create the newest source of energy for Fontaine. A sort of energy wars or current wars in Fontaine. But if you fail, you’re going to prison
for tax fraud. As for why everyone wants to make the next
power source? Let's just say that if you could replace Guillotin’s
invention, you can replace all of Fontaine. They also seem to need to pass judgment for
their research. Meaning if you don't show results, you're
automatically guilty. Which is counter intuitive to how research
works. Interestingly, someone named Edwin Eastinghouse
was conducting an experiment to address Fontaine’s waterline crisis using a material called Arkhium. Maybe it had something to do with petrichor’s
pure waters? Maybe Fontaine is either losing water, or
there's too much water. But whatever Eastinghouse was working on,
was never finished. Or at least “he” didn't finish it. There was an explosion in the Institute, leading
to the disappearance of Eastinghouse. Weirdly enough, they were able to recover
Eastinghouse’s processes and systems. And it came back new and improved. Which shouldnt be recoverable if all that
data was where Eastinghouse disappeared. You can watch this video about the Research
Institute if you're curious. Qiaoying Village
Qiaoying Village is located northwest of Liyue. It's a Village that Borders Liyue with Fontaine. Known for its high-quality and quite strong
tea. The people of Qiaoying village have annual
tea-serving ceremonies in honor of a certain Adeptus, called the “Herblord”. I’d take a guess that it's an Adeptus akin
to the Stove God. Regardless, Qiaoying village will be a key
location in our transition to Fontaine. So The justice system in Fontaine is problematc
and the research in Fopntaine is also problematic. Not to mention the economy relying on a single
capitalized source of power. what about everything else? the people? What can we see in Fontaine? How's the weather? Well, if you think that Fontaine is gonna
be a steampunk themed city, you can bet that there's gonna be a lot of steam or in this
possible case smoke, as well as a ton of punks both at the poverty stricken slums, and in
the bedazzled fancy mansions of Fontaine. The economy alone with its solely mechanically
run region by a single energy source is already a red flag. And that's beside the fact that the justice
system is equally backwards. But yes how can it be an (energy)punk setting
without a bit of social instability and oppression? Liben mentions that Fontaine has dark clouds
above it, possibly due to the excessive smoke that Fontaine constructs might have. Not only that, the people in Fontaine seem
to be awaiting a certain judgment leading them to be agitated and restless. Maybe this sort of judgment is the sort of
judgment that everybody awaits from of the God of Justice and courts of Fontaine. There's also a lack of non mechanical trinkets. Finally the fact that Fontaine felt oppressive
and dangerous, even warning us to stay away if we didn't want to get into trouble. A weird prophecy of judgment, Oppressive and
dangerous environment, An energy crisis as well as a race for a new power source, The
Lochfolk in self exile Finally seemingly suspicious Archons and Chief of the Courts. Just like how we Imagined what was wrong with
Sumeru back in 2.0, Fontaine’s situation is equally or even much worse. With all that said, In my head, Fontaine is
this power hungry nation racing to create the next light bulb. With a flawed court system that judges based
on output rather than process and argument. If your research isn't producing results that
the court expects, not what you expect, then you're automatically guilty. The God of Justice Focalors is equally suspicious
since she deems herself innocent, meaning she is never guilty. Along with wanting to participate in every
trial. The Institute is an open hub for researchers
to conduct whatever research they can but you’re blocked by the Court of Fontaine’s
expectations. The money you use is money that's taken from
the people of Fontaine. And the people of Fontaine are equally dangerous. Oppression is a huge factor which leads me
to think that there's a clear cut class system, separating the rich and poor. In the most advanced region, I can only think
of those less fortunate to work in hazardous factories and the rich bicker with each other
on politics that only benefit themselves. Even the God of Justice is vying for her place
as the God of Justice. In a way, it seems that in a place that upholds
the dangerous decision of who's guilty and innocent, Everyone is guilty. When everyone is guilty, no one is. And the one sitting on top of all that, is
the guiltiest of all. There's so many things wrong with Fontaine
that maybe Natlan or Snezhnaya seems like a better choice. But alas our journey will never end unless
we go to Fontaine. So we can only brace ourselves for the revelation
and judgment that Fontaine will have. There we go everything wrong with Fontaine. Or atleast everything that I think is wrong
with Fontaine. Comment below if you think that Fontaine is
going to spontaneously combust, or tell me if I'm losing my mind again. But yeah Fontaine is seemingly grand and fancy
but the way everyone mentions the bad sides, I can't help but notice that they're all hiding
something. If you enjoyed the video do leave a like,
